We came from I-25 & county line road tonight. Purchased a groupon. Honestly, we really wanted to like it but the food is just average. The po' boys are good but not worth driving there to from our house. We also had the gumbo and étouffée. They were not very good....we left most of it in the bowl. We think they try hard, but the money and drive are not worth it. We will not be coming back again.

The Bayou Snack Shack is my new favorite place to get comfort food. My husband and I are taking a trip to New Orleans in July and since he's a Colorado native he's never had cajun food so we started to scout out restaurants.  When we came across the Snack Shack we thought we'd give it a try.  Growing up in Texas it's hard to find good cajun food in the area.  The food is incredible and the owners are from Louisiana-- authentic as it gets folks. This place has a mardi gras themed dining area and they play zydeco music making me feel at home (Galveston).  My husband and I have eaten there three times in 2 weeks, you might ay we're addicted (or that we dine out to much). Either way, you have to try this place it's definitely worth the wait.  They do make all their food from scratch so keep in mind its definitely not "fast food".  I recommend you call ahead and it'll be ready by the time you go pick it up. I don't reviews often, but after todays visit I thought it was a must.  As I was leaving the parking lot waiting at a red light one of the owners chased me down because they forgot to put one of my sides in my bag.  Her act of kindness blew me away! Stop by and try their chicken and sausage gumbo.

The food is very bland, and the location is bad- in close proximity to a high school so there many kids hanging out and loitering surrounding their entrance.

She said they are "known for" their poboys, so we ordered 3. The "blackened catfish" was a huge disappointment, the fish was rubbery and lightly sprinkled with paprika. Very little fish on a huge bready roll. My son said shrimp poboy was ok, and my husband had a fried catfish poboy, and didn't like that the fish was small and flavorless, and the bread too big for the filling.

Along with your poboy you might expect fries, but it came with a handful of potatoe chips in a basket.

I thought it was pretty expensive for what you get. Music was nice, but decor is cheap and lame, makes you wonder where else they cut back.

Iced sweet tea was strange, it had a slimy topping on it and was very sweet. But we didn't get sick so that's a plus.
