4.5 stars, definitely. Â While it's definitely an Americanized Irish restaurant, it's not your average "Irish pub"--I was actually reminded of the restaurants I visited while in Ireland. Â The bar area downstairs is nice, as are the couple of booths down there, and the dining area upstairs is well decorated. Â There's also an upstairs bar area, which I haven't yet been to, but I want to check it out on pub trivia night!
As for the food, I didn't branch much into the "Irish" territory, but ordered a great Reuben with fries. The BF had the Irish Breakfast and thought it was really good, and his parents enjoyed the Seafood Salad and Gnocchi. Â All in all, we had a great experience, and perhaps the only thing detracting from the full five stars was the upstairs dining room didn't seem like it had AC!
We were here for lunch while the rain fell in torrents outside. I had the deconstructed Cobb Salad and my partner had the Shepherd's Pie. The food was great! The service was pretty good -- not inattentive but not pushy - and the atmosphere was very Irish. There was a young fellow at a table nearby loudly regaling the others at his table with stories of his admirable exploits on behalf of Discovery, down the street. We drank Guinness...It made me miss the old Royal Mile, in Wheaton.
Review Source:Really awesome food. I tend to stay away from chain places and in downtown Silver Spring, this is really your only option. (Side note: there are a ton of really good ethnic places but if you're not into Ethopian or Indian then this is it)
The menu is a nice mix of traditional Irish food (I once had the Irish breakfast which was only second to a version I had once in Dublin) and American pub food. This is my go to place in SS, so I've been here quite a bit.
I usually get one of the specials because they are all really good. As for prices: pretty reasonable considering you are getting a decent meal. Not too expensive, and not too cheap that makes you wonder what the quality of the food is. Just a right mix. Good service too.
