There is no way to sugar coat the fact that this place is gross and disgusting. Â You can clearly see multiple food safety violations going on there at all times. Â The quality of their food is extremely low. Â The only reason I've ever subjected myself to this dump is because it's the only place within walking distance of my office other than Dominick's. Â I'm to the point where I'd rather skip lunch altogether than give this place another penny of my hard-earned money. Â If the thought of having a bad stomach ache all afternoon is your idea of fun, have at it; otherwise stay as far away as possible.
Review Source:I was headed to a nearby insurance class and I wasn't feeling 100%. I was hungry though and knew that it would be about four hours until I'd have an opportunity to grab a bite. Michael's on Main was convenient, so I wandered in.
This is a lunchtime office building spot to scrounge up quick eats and gossip with your cubicle neighbor. Quick? Â Yes. Good? Â Not so much. I was alone and made a quick decision to try the stir fry. They had grilled chicken and beef (I don't think steak was the appropriate term). Â I tried a combo of both which came with a scoop of fried rice, teriyaki or BBQ sauce (I went teriyaki) and an egg roll. The food was served in a styrofoam container.
When I went to pay there was confusion about who was ringing me up and I eventually paid just under $9 for this pre-cooked combo and a vitamin water zero. I found a seat at a wobbly table and started to eat. The beef was very fatty and lukewarm. The chicken looked nice but left a funny aftertaste. The rice was pretty mushy, but had a lot of egg for those who are a fan of that sort of thing. The egg roll is the only thing that I ate all of. It was crispy, lacked flavor, but at least didn't taste bad. My vitamin water was delicious! Â ;-)
Trash cans were basically full at noon on a Tuesday. No one wiped tables or emptied the trash or paid any attention to the dining area while I was there. It was a major disappointment and I wish I would have just grabbed fast food while I was driving to the area and ate it in my car.
I've been going to my building's cafe for well over a year before I realized Michael's was available right next door. I'm glad I did because what I was used to was certainly not good enough.
I like getting their menu sent to me online and they have good open hours too. I like the layout and the variety that they have.
What I usually love more than anything at Michael's is their salads which hits the spot for me almost any day of the week. They also have different sandwiches and entrees that get my attention from time to time.
They do have a frequent buy 10 get one free card but I just wish you can use it on salads, entrees or sandwiches instead of one of them(picked randomly for the month).
Donisha's review about says it all. While her "HORRIBLE" nicely sums up my experience in one word, I think her 2 starts are WAY too generous. Â I can get better food from a can. Â And the *chef* reminds me more of my high school janitor than anyone remotely familiar with *cooking*... sigh.
Review Source:When Michael's first opened in the place of Deli Time, I was excited. DT had great breakfast sandwiches but that was about it. Lunch was HORRIBLE. I heard Mike was moving in,checked out their menu and really got excited! Everything seemed fresh and it looked like they would have a better selection. Boy was I wrong.
First of all, don't open if you are not prepared. The first week was HORRIBLE. The cooks had no idea how to actually...I dunno...cook. Was "short order cook experience" not on the application? The food took forever and the service was sub-par. They've gotten a little better but not by much.
Aesthetically this place looks like a hospital cafeteria. I think they were going for the modern look but the concrete floors, white walls, and high school cafeteria tables and chairs are horrendous. Not to mention that they opened with signs that were printed in size 8 font. Hold on, let me break out my binoculars I get a uhhhhh...ummmm....oh hell I can't read the damn menu, what do you actually serve? They have since gotten larger signs with actual prices and a complete menu selection. Guess I complained loud enough huh.
The only thing I get from this place is the coffee because it's Dunkin. However its on a little ass table in the back and the trash can is seriously a bathroom step can. So of course there are sugar packets and mixing sticks all over the floor. Here's a thought: get a bigger trash can!
The salad bar is pretty decent (took them a month to actually open it up) however the rest of the food is bland, the specials are weak, the cashiers seem to always be away from the cash stand and you have to flag them down. WACK, WACKNESS, WACKTACULAR.
Too pricey, not worth the $9 on a sandwich and beverage. Get in your car and go else where!
I am a big fan of Michael's on Main. Â I love the sandwiches here. Â They are cheap (around $5 subs) and tasty plus filling. Â They come with a side, usually a pasta salad or chips and a pickle. Â The sandwiches are placed on the griddle to give it a nice crunchy crust. Â Tell them to add giardiniera on top to make it better. Â
I also had the tomato soup once and it was the best tomato soup I've ever had. Â Very very good.
You can not compare this place to its former tenant Deli Time. That's apples and oranges. I welcome Michael's on main with open arms. The food is a thousand times better, the prices are cheaper, better menu selection, better layout, friendlier people, etc. While I have not had the breakfast, I have had many of the lunch options and can say I was satisfied every time. The salad bar is average the soups are delicious. They have a email list for you to know the wide variety of weekly specials. I would have to say the biggest complaint is the tiniest menu font possible.
Review Source:Dear Michael,
You're ok. Your sausage, egg, and cheese on an english muffin doesn't compare to Deli Time. It either doesn't have enough grease to cure my hangover or it's just way too greasy. That, and the first time I gave it a chance, it tasted like nothing...not enough salt. The next time, my keyboard was full of grease.
At least you have Dunkin Donuts coffee and jalapeno potato chips (sometimes).
I miss DT.
No love,
T.
