Well, it's miniature inside. The people making the sandwiches are usually fairly sweet. The clerks at the cash register are HORRENDOUSLY RUDE!! The clerk informed me that there was a ten dollar minimum if using a credit card to pay and then put my card in the register and decided she had the right to hold my card until I finished looking for something to add up to ten dollars. I asked her why she took my card and she said" I was holding it for you.' Who KEEPS Â a customer's credit card? Oooooh, but if you look Italian, you get the royal treatment, smooches, samples, etc. If you just have an Italian last name like me, and you'd like a friendly, polite cashier, Â forgeddaboudit.
Bari has better subs. Fontano's has way better subs.
Sandwiches were good but the place is FILTHY and the employees are extremely UN friendly. Â I will not be going back.
While waiting an extremely long time for 3 sandwiches, I was looking around... and shouldn't have... I don't think this place has EVER been cleaned. Â It's very tiny, very old, and everything is dingy and run down. Â The cold case had tons of condensation on the doors and was not cold at all. Â All the corners, nooks, and crannies of the store had piles of crud and dirt. Â Thankfully I didn't see any bugs or I would have been outta there. Â Under the meat slicer was piles of dried up food crumbles that had obviously been there a long time. I saw them making the sandwiches in back but I was really afraid to watch them handle my food.
They don't carry many dry/canned items here, and what they do have is basically anything you can get at a produce center like A&G or Tony's. Â It's overpriced too. Â
That being said, the Italian sub sandwiches were very good. Â However the sausage sandwich had no sauce. Â Just a dried up piece of sausage with a half melted slice of provolone on a piece of italian bread. Â
They also make homemade cannolis that are delicious, but maybe not so fresh! Â Another bonus was little packets of saffron at the register for a reasonable price.
I'm not sure what's up with this place. Â It used to be alot better.
