10 years ago a good Spanish food joint in this area was hard to come by but now they seem to be cropping up everywhere!
This place is small but can accommodate groups and wasn't too busy when I showed up for dinner. Â Pricing was average with entrees at about $12 on average per person (I spent $40 for two people). Â The food was actually pretty good.
Wife ordered some rice, beans, meat and a little of everything which looked like a neat little sampler plate; all of which she really enjoyed. Â My food was more simple and boring with tostones & pork chops but damn those pork chops tasted killer. Â Seasoning on the chops were spot on that I could have nibbled off my fingers!!
My only complaint are the appetizers. Â It seems a good number of these spanish spots think an empanada should cost $3 each for a nibble size portion (see photo). Â This pricing seems to be common in this area for these tasty appetizers but damn I can get them for $1 each in NYC. Â They made them REALLY good here but for $2 each definitely not worth the price but I had to taste it.
Overall not a bad spot for price and value. Â I'll definitely visit again and would recommend others give it a shot.
My husband and I found Mina's 2 weeks ago and since we love Spanish food we gave it a try. We ate there and even came again! We went during lunch both times. Both times the service was decent, but the food was so delicious! The pernil was juicy and well seasoned (I even requested some skin and they gave me some), the rice and beans tasty. I would highly recommend Mina's and am now calling it one of my "regular" spots to eat.
Review Source:If you want authentic Spanish food, you need to come to Mina's. Â The reason I did not give them a 5th star is because the service has been consistently slow on the three occasions I have gone. Â It does get the 4 stars though because the food is succulent. Â On all the times I have gone, my wife and I have ordered the Beef Empanadas...Yum!!! Â You can tell they are homemade due to the amount of beef on the inside. Â I have always ordered the Pernil Traditional(Pork.) Â I always get yellow rice and black beans. Â This meal is definitely worth the inexpensive price of $8.95. Â The pork is cooked perfect and it melts in your mouth. Â The rice and beans just add to the flavor and when I mix them together it makes for a great side dish. Â My wife is the one that likes to try out the dishes and every item that she has received, she has loved. Â We both like the fried plantains and have ordered them 2 out of the 3 times. If you like Tres Leches, you will not be upset with the portion and the moist cake that you receive. Â I would like to order a whole cake, however my waist will be mad at me! Â I will continue to go back for the food but as I said above, the service is typically slower than what I expect. Â I understand that fresh food needs to be prepared, however the last time I was in, my wife and family in my table of 4 received their food around 5 minutes before my plate arrived. Â It made for my family to be uncomfortable eating while I waited because I did not want their food to be cold. Â That is my only gripe with this place and this has happened every time, one person will be waiting before the other person gets their food. Â If you want great Spanish food, come to Mina's however expect to wait a little.
