My husband and I have a great love for general chicken, so it was obvious our first meal should be at Ming's since it was across the street from our hotel (Loews). We were not disappointed! The general chicken was wonderful! I ordered mine mild and my Husby ordered his extra spicy and we both left extremely satisfied with leftovers in hand. The serving size was generous and they even box up your leftovers for you. We also has crab rangoons and they were very good but not the best I have ever had.
I read in previous views that they had a buffet and did not see one while we were there. I was thankful that this was not a buffet because I'm not a fan of sneeze guard presentations of food!
I have absolutely no complaints!
Great costumer service! We ordered take out and they threw in free spring rolls. The food tasted good to me. Not sure what the other people were eating, when they said the food was tasteless. My younger brother, who is the pickiest eater I've ever met, Loved it! I would suggest trying this place.
Review Source:We discovered Ming's the first night we moved here. It's right across the street from our apartment and we were tired and wanted something fast. I was pretty impressed. No, it's not the best Chinese I've ever had but the portions are huge. Every time we order for delivery, each entree gives us at least 2 meals. We've always just done delivery and we always have our food within 30 minutes, usually 20. They made a mistake once but gave us a credit for the missing egg rolls on our next order. Great neighborhood chinese place.
Review Source:Ming's Dynasty, was my favorite destination while attending college. I have several friends who live in the surrounding area of the restaurant and I lived very close as well. It was some of the best Chinese food I have had in a long time (coming from California). I had the duck, and let me tell you...OMG it was amazing I have also had their buffet, and many other menu items. I go as far as saying it is the best Chinese Restaurant in all of Denver. I unfortunately now live to far away to order, so I had to go with Twin Dragon tonight and there is no comparison. Ming's Dynasty is the best option for Chinse food if you get the chance to eat there, don't mind the mini mall it is located in...it makes it that much better :)
Review Source:The food is delicious. What is horrible is their business sense. They offered a Pepper Squid (calamari) appetizer for 7 dollars. Â I've ordred it six times in the last few weeks. Â Tonight they tell me it's a $13 dinner rather than $7 appetizer which is says on the menu. Â This is only because I always order it.
It just feels wrong and I will now search for a more honorable restaurant.
Holy Moly this place is GOOD!
I'm kinda surprised by some of the low ratings for Ming's. Â I've been eating at Ming's since 1998 and I have never had a meal that I didn't think was delicious!
I'm usually a creature of habits when I go to a restaurant. Â I'm always afraid i'm going to try something new and it's going to suck and I'll regret not ordering my standard meal, but not at Ming's! Â I've been eating there so long now that I've tried just about everything once and it's always good.
The restaurant itself is really nicely decorated.  It's not to dark, no weird music playing, there's just a nice ambiance about the place.  The staff is super friendly and they remember us and always come and have a nice chit chat to see what we've been up to since out last  visit.
For the dinner service everyone starts out with a plate of fried wont ton strips with a sweet and sour type sauce.  LOVE this stuff.  The staff doesn't hover around and gives you plenty of time to browse the menu.  Another thing is if you have a question about a menu item they do a great job of describing the dishes.  Soup portions, along with all the portions are very generous!  Unless you have hollow legs there will be plenty to take home.  If your not a fan of the doggy  bad, one dish is plenty to share with another person.
Another thing I love about Ming's is I order my dishes extra spicy and you know what? They are ACTUALLY spicy!! Â I ordered a combination low mein made spicy and it would blow your socks off! Â It was great and NOT sitting in a pool of oil! Â Actually, I have never found the food here to be greasy at all. Â Don't want your Mongolian Beef deep fried?? Just ask and they will simply stir fry your beef instead. Â
I can also say that all the veggie dishes are outta site! Â My favorite is the Schezuan Tofu Pot. Â It come still simmering to the table, a lovely little pot filled with asparagus, zuccini, carrots, broccoli, snow peas, baby corn, water chesnuts, bamboo shoots, fresh jalapeno slices, and a mess load of tofu in a schezuan brown sauce. Â I can't recommend it enough.
I'd give Ming's a try if I were you, baring some kind of weird kitchen disaster I think you will find it's some of the best Chinese food around.
Ming's Dynasty just does some really solid Chinese food. I had some amazing moo shoo duck here with delicious tender meat and the perfect moo shoo sauce. Also a big fan of the kung pao shrimp and the beef and broccoli. Everything was delicious and served in huge portions. We had eight people and ordered only five dishes and had plenty for everyone.
The service is also really great here. I went with a somewhat rowdy group of med students and they were nothing but patient and nice with us. They had no problem with us staying a bit after the restaurant closed and just handled our large group with aplomb.
So let's play a game of Chinese whispers where I'll tell you how great this place is and you come here and are so impressed that you tell someone else and so on...until Ming's Dynasty gets the recognition that it deserves.
My husband and I moved to Denver last summer and we are always on the lookout for good Chinese food and we were on the fence about whether or not we should try it because of the mixed reviews. We went for the lunch buffet. I think people expect it to be like Golden Corral. They only serve the buffet for lunch and it has basic Chinese food selections. We loved it. The staff was very friendly and kept our drinks full (a must for my husband). The only thing I didn't like was the seasame chicken is boned wings. I do not like meat on the bone nor with skin on. The sauce is excellent though. Also, the lo mein needles are very thick but tasty and we thought they could use a bit more sauce because of it. I will definately be coming back here. Take the advice from others to not let the outside chase you away. Very nice and clean inside.
Review Source:Ok first of all whoever wrote "this is the best chinese food you will find in Denver" probably a) had dead taste buds and b) may actually be correct.
Arrived at 11:30 (the start of the lunch buffet) - not too busy. Honestly, the food was meh at best. Lots of fried things and none of it was identified with labels. The "cocktail" sauce for the peel and eat shrimp looked brown instead of red so I decided to pass.
Food was warm to hot-ish. Servers were short but not overly unpleasant. Sesame chicken had BONES in it?
Restaurant was decently clean inside. Tables were bussed relatively quickly.
Honestly the food here was a 1. The atmosphere and the staff eek it out to a 1.75 - Yelps' rounding makes it a 2.
I have had much better food over in Westminster at Li's. Â The food here was so mediocre that after spending $11 on lunch (with tax) I actually decided to stop by the McDonald's drive thru and get a box of McNuggets and a shake so I could say I actually ate lunch.
I won't be coming back. I did have to laugh that this seems to be the favorite of seniors and fatties. One large woman came in and demanded to have the table closest to the buffet.
Lunch buffet is $8.95 + $2 soft drink and tax = $11.15-ish.
Kinda hard to find unless you are really looking for it.
The best chinese food you will find, period.
Every time I'm in CO, you will find me here. Â Really, everything here is good. Â I have not had a dish I disliked. Â I usually start off with the cheese wontons, and some hot & sour soup, both of which will get your taste buds tingling for the entrees that await. Â By far, the best thing is the sesame chicken. Â Slightly sweet, light crunch and totally delicious. Â All of the other entrees I've had are equally tasty, which include kung pao/sweet & sour/walnut shrimp, pork with garlic sauce, black pepper steak, slippery chicken, moo shu beef wraps, and I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting. Â The point is, anything you order will be good. Â Theres also a full bar to wet your whistle should you so desire.
As if the savory dishes weren't reason enough to come here, the owners are always pleasant company. Â This is a mom and pop restaurant, so you'll always find the Wong's here who are never shy and always happy to talk to their customers. Â The great food and the welcoming family atmosphere make this my favorite place to eat in Colorado!
Overall I had a good experience with Ming's Dynasty. I live just a few blocks from the this place and decided to try my luck.
The customer service was excellent, the people are so friendly at this place.
The food was good as well. Tasted nice and fresh with a good selection. Don't expect San Francisco quality Chinese or anything but if you want a decent meal this place works.
Great seating as well.
The food was good, but the service is what pushed it to 5 stars. Â Genuine hellos when you walk in the door and the staff loves chatting with everyone, very friendly! Â Our soup to start was perfect and the entrees great as well. Â I'm guessing a manager and possible owner came by to check on us. Â They helped and seemed to love working with people. Â Maybe not the best in town, but pretty good, but the genuine, caring staff will certainly bring us back. Â Had Wonton Soup, Hot and Sour Soup, Szechaen Chicken (great spice) and Chicken with Vegetables ( a nice mild dish with great veggies) Â Hot tea was perfect as well. Â Check this place out!
Review Source:When my cousin suggested we try this spot for a big group (16 of us), I kind of though she was a little crazy. Â Neighborhood is unimpressive and the strip mall its located in isn't that great.
But you know what? This was some of the better Chinese food I've had in a while. Â The hot & sour soup (my measuring stick) was just the right blend of pepper and vinegary bitterness. Â Excellent. Â
Appetizers were a big hit (including the shrimp toast which everyone enjoyed) and a pineapple duck dish as well. Â We really didn't have any clunkers and service was prompt without being overly so. Â They did a nice job and the dining room was packed on a Sunday night.
Would definitely recommend to those in the area.
Despite the fact that Mings is just a few blocks from our house, we drove by for years without trying it because the exterior seemed unpromising, strip-mall Chinese.  However, one day on a whim we stopped in, and were pleasantly surprised.  Inside, Ming's is like the fancy Chinese restaurants of long-ago -- dramatic decor and all of the classics from "Chinese for white people" menus.  Customers seemed to be mostly large family groups of  non-Chinese enjoying the lazy-susan style meal.  Our meal was fine, and the service was very solicitous.  Our server accidentally brought us meat instead of vegetarian pot stickers, and was so apologetic when we pointed out the mistake.  They were also very helpful in catering to the needs of our 2-year-old. Â
I'd definitely go back to Mings for take-out or with a group; my husband and I prefer to go to more authentic Chinese food-for-Chinese-people restaurants when we can.
This is my family "event" spot - birthday parties, holiday or just to get together - all mean a delicious celebration at Ming's. There is consistently attentive service, with the owners circling to ask how the food is (which is always very good). Really, the thing I love the most, and am slightly ashamed to admit, is the lazy susan kindly placed on the larger tables. This ingenious contraption allows us to fill our plates expeditiously to maximize gorge time while keeping body movement at a minimum. Pure delight.
Some of my favorite items, you wonder? For apps, it's for sure the scallion pancakes and for $4 you get a ton. Â While I was never into scallions, these have a slight flavor and jazz up the dough. For my entree, I love the mango chicken and the moo shoo (just tried with shrimp and really liked the combo of the ingredients with the pop of the shrimp). I just wish they didn't serve the moo shoo already pancaked because the sauce makes the wrap flimsy AND I like to combine the ingredients myself...
Regardless, I don't really think you can go wrong here!
After driving by Ming's 2+ times daily for almost a year and a half, I finally stopped in to pick up some take out for dinner.
This restaurant looks non-descript from the outside - it's in a strip of building and looks very similar to it's surroundings - dated. I wasn't sure what to expect when we walked in. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very nice, upkept interrior!
We were greeted by the very friendly staff - they took our order, offered water while we waited, chatted with us. We were in on a Saturday evening, around 8ish and the restaurant was very busy.
Our take out has probably one of the best chinese take out meals I've had - not only was it a lot of food (yay leftovers!!) but it was so tasty!
Portions are probably big enough to split between 2 people or for 1 person to have 2 meals. The food really is good re-heated too!
Knowing how great this place is and that it's within walking distance from my apartment is dangerous for my wallet and my waistline... but so worth it!
I really enjoyed this place and will definitely be going back. Â The soups are only $2 but they are tasty! Â You have to try the wonton soup or the eggdrop soup.
Me and my wife split the shrimp w/ Chinese vegetables and it was huge. What I liked about this place is that they didn't give us crap for splitting a plate and even gave us two plates without even us asking. Â There was so much food we almost didn't finish but it was so good I polished the rest off.
The reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the service is what you'd expect from non-American servers. Â They spent more time making sure the dishes were clean and the lunch buffet was cleared than making sure we had water and our check when we were done.
Either way, the food was great, good price, and very cozy atmosphere.
So I'm fairly new to Denver, and wanted to find a good chinese buffet close to my home. Â after reading on yelp, it seemed as though the good people of denver were pointing ming's as the place to go. Â Why must you break my heart, yelpers...
The entire experience was Horrible. It was a bad, small selection, and shoddy service. Â I wasnt sitting longer than 15 minutes and they were already handing me my bill. Â They charged 2 dollars for a fountain drink and didn't even refill it. Â i had to ask, and even then the server was hesitant.
Everything was fried and unappealing. Â They must not know what vegetables are. Â Seriously one of the worst buffets I've ever been to. Â I have no idea how any of you can give this place anywhere above one star.
The only thing remotely pleasing was the cut up melon. Â and if that's the highlight, there's no way this place should ever get over 2 stars. Â This place was so bad I had to sign up to Yelp just so I could give them the virtual stink-eye. Â as far as your guidance to this mecca of suck, Â you fail, yelpers.
The only reason why Ming's gets a 4 star versus a 3 star is that I didn't leave the restaurant smelling like my clothes were deep fried like the food. This is a very good thing in my opinion.
First impression....I hope this food is better then the cheesy 70's decor.
As far as food, the Wonton soup is Great. Not too salty and the broth was also good. The Orange Chicken was good, but not my favorite . Chicken Lo Mein was good as well, not too greasy.
This place is also good because the portions are large and you will have more to bring home.
This is probably the best chinese food I've ever had in Denver - and I mean it when I say it. Doesn't matter if it's take-out or dine-in, Ming's has some seriously authentic Mandarin, Cantonese and Szechuan cooking.
At first the atmosphere is not much different than the chinese restaurants you used to go to as a kid with your family. It gives the place a nostalgic feel even if it's your first time coming in. The service has always been very friendly and exceptional each time I've gone. Wait has never been bad either, even when it's been busy.
If you're in for lunch, might as well go for the special lunch buffet. It has a good variety of dishes that you won't ever get bored of. For dinner, my personal favorite is the Hong Kong roast duck - deliciously prepared duck cooked to crispy perfection without the nasty grease... I really like duck, but I absolutely love Hong Kong duck! I felt it take me away to the very heart of Hong Kong itself. Hands down a great dining experience every time I've gone - I doubt they'll ever disappoint. May Ming's Dynasty continue to reign in Denver Chinese cuisine... and beyond! Stay hungry my friends.
I was deliberating which asian restaurant to order from, I was skeptical they would deliver to my address since I was slightly out of the 2.5 radius but was pleasantly surprised when the voice on the other end checked, and confirmed they would deliver to me.
What I ordered
Hot and sour soup
Mu shu pork
Kung pao chicken
I was craving mu shu pork, and couldn't find any yelp reviews but when it arrived pipping hot accompanied by 4 pancakes to cradle the fixings in I was elated. Â Just as I remembered it tasting and just enough sauce on the side for each pancake. Something a little different, I highly recommend.
Hot and sour soup was also up to par
Kung pao chicken was served with more veggies than I'm used to, I wasn't to keen on the celery, but others might enjoy this healthier version. Next time I'll try something else.
All and all a good pick.
Oh Ming - it's like I'm 12 again.
Ming's Sunday Lunch Buffet reminds of me Church day's with the family. My parents would occasionally take us out to a place called Hong Kong restaurant where the food was plentiful but the dollar signs were not. with a family of 5 kids, you have to budget wisely -- and this is exactly what Ming's was: a budget friendly buffet!
I was with 2 others. We were greeted kindly upon walking and almost immediately seated. The waiter was prompt with giving us glasses of water and our menus. He was quite jovial too, which made it all the better. As we were perusing  the menus, he asked what we thought. Homing in on our indecisiveness, he mentioned the buffet. "No pressure. But check out what we have. Try something if you like, I won't tell. If you don't like what's there, you can order family style".
By golly miss molly - the buffet had everything we wanted to try. The crab cheese rangoons were excellent for having been batch cooked. The wonton was just lightly fried and the filling quite soft. The sesame wings and fried shrimp - Yumm. Deep fried just right. Cashew chicken, sweet and sour pork, name a classic, it was there. Plus - huge pots of steamed white rice and hot & sour soup were yearning to be stirred.
At $8.99 a person, you really can't complain for this all you can eat option.
The food is well cooked. The atmosphere is quaint. The place was pleasantly hygienic.
I think I'll pop by tonight for some take out....
I used to live in Glendale and this was my favorite go-to place. Then I moved away and moved close to Glendale. By far, still the best Chinese I've tried here. I've even taken out of town friends and they were in agreement.
They make a dish, Wonderful Chicken, that I have never had prior to coming to Ming's, nor anywhere else. Great service and the owners are always around to check on you. Even for takeout, they offer something to drink while waiting.
I cannot recommend this place enough. What are you waiting for? Go now.
OK, I went in to order take out and while we perused the menu we were served jasmine tea and wanton crisps with sweet and sour sauce.
The portion sizes are generous and the quality is great. I enjoyed the scallion pancakes (though not quite that of NY dim sum places), and the Mongolian beef was awesome.
If dining in the restaurant was recently redone, and they have booze!!! I love a place where I can have a cocktail with my meal (I am the mother of twins after all)
Overall a good find and my new chinese go to place here in Denver.
I can't really say anything bad about Ming's Dynasty but I can't really say anything good about it either. Nothing special, typical Chinese cuisine served either off the menu or from the steam tray trough (all you can eat at lunch). I suspect that the food served off the menu also come from steam trays in the kitchen.
There are loads of better options in Denver if you're looking for good Chinese food.
My rating keeps going up as I write. Thanks once again to my fellow Yelpers, I knew the venerable Ming's Dynsasty offers two of my favorites, hard-to-find scallion pancakes and old-school shrimp toast. I ordered those plus crispy duck -- which after discussions with the very kind waitress/hostess, turned into an order for Hong Kong duck instead -- and combination lo mein, for which I had high hopes. (Long ago we had a favorite restaurant which made the greatest lo mein before it burned down; no lo mein since has come close.)
I ordered all this to go and was offered water or tea while I waited. Earlier I had turned down water, but hot tea sounded just perfect for my scratchy throat and might help stave off a cold. The tea was excellent, as was the chat with the waitresses and fellow patrons. It was an extremely pleasant wait. Then the drive home in a car that kept smelling better and better. Ah, anticipation.
The duck was very tasty, and the lo mein as well -- not quite as good as my memories but the next best thing to it, and the best I've had in a long long while. The appetizers pushed it over the top. The order of scallion pancakes was about three times more than I am accustomed to, the shrimp toast looked like a double order at least, and they had thrown in a free order of egg rolls. Wow. I was aiming to have leftovers of everything, but this is amazing.
Unfortunately, shrimp toast doesn't stay crispy on a ride across town. I figure when I warm up the leftovers in the toaster oven, they will crispen up again. I'd eat the scallion pancakes hot or cold, they are that good. Mmmmm.
I cannot speak for the rest of the menu, but I was very well pleased with what I ordered. Even though the restaurant is way across town for me, I look forward to returning.
This is our takeout place but we mostly go to another place. The last time we had takeout ,the hot and sour was the best, and the other really great dish was squid with ginger--fantastic! Â My family loves the scallion pancakes. Â One person thought the tofu with black mushrooms was heavy on the garlic. Â
This week, I went in here with a friend at 8 pm on a Sunday; we'd planned to do tea but that place closed early on Sunday (what else?). So I had tea and watched her order and eat a big bowl of steamed vegetables and tofu, with the sauce ("white sauce" according to the waiter) on the side. Â
The place is gorgeous inside, white table clothes and nice decor. Â i always think I should come here more often. Her vegetables were gorgeous, and just crisp the way they should be, and it was a huge quantity. Â She took some home. Â
The tea was average. Â I like their food, but compared to other places I would give it a 3. Â The noon buffet is a fair deal if you like that sort of thing. Â The food is comparable to dishes prepared here except, of course, it's on a buffet table. Â
I add a half star for the wonderful atmosphere and the very friendly staff if you remember to go.
This was the first meal out since moving to Denver and I was not disappointed. Especially since most places in the area close at 9 and dynasties apparently last an hour longer.
To start with, I thought that the bill was going to be steep because of the beautiful interior and patio......usually such construction/remodels tend to get into menu prices. Â However, this was not at all the case. Â Bang for your buck can for sure be celebrated here.
The service was excellent and made me feel like I was in a 5 star place as several people attended to me and my two buddies like the Dali Lama had multiplied into 3 people.
Hot tea which should always accompany a nice chinese meal which cost 50 cents extra/ person was served out of an endless pot. Â No soup before dinner and I thought that the food was only ok to good, although the portions left everyone full with a remaining meal to boot. Â
3.5 stars of Chinese goodness!
Minus 1 star for the waiter not knowing that they serve Shrimp Toast ( I had to show him on the menu). Â
Plus 1 star because they don't have Hunan Duck on the menu, but they made it for me anyway...and it was awsome!! Â
Minus 1 star for the above mentioned waiter coughing in my bf's food when he was serving it. Â He ordered the Mongolian Lamb, which comes on a sizzling platter, and when he took the lid off and was setting it on the table, I think the steam mixed with the peppers got to him-and he coughed. Â
It was a small cough, and we all acted like it didn't happen.
Appetizers--Shrimp Toast (always awsome, though I had to ask for a side of sweet and sour...?) Â And Coconut Shrimp, good but predictable.
My Entree- Hunan Duck. Â As stated above, it's not on the menu, but they will make it for you. Â It was probably the best I've had.
His Entree--Mongolian Lamb. Â He loved, I hated. Â I just hate the taste of lamb. Â My bf says it's psychological. Â Defensless baby animal or not, it just tastes nasty.
To Go-- Shark Fin Soup. Â I know. Â I KNOW!! Â I shouldn't, but it is soooo good.
Decent lunch buffet. If you are going to come here for lunch, there's no reason not to get the buffet. Â I normally stay away from buffets, because I always overeat, and this time was no different. The food was pretty decent as far as chinese buffets go. Not a ton of selection but what they had was amazing. They really need to label the food though because I accidentally ate some fried calamari (and thought it was chicken!!!). Â And there is a TON of fried food here, that would meet a whole week's worth of fat consumption.
I was kind of upset that the trays would stay empty as long as they did though. I held out hope that they'd bring out more orange beef (or pork, I really couldn't tell) as the fat man sitting at the table next to me seemed to help himself to the rest. Â They had run out and replaced it with chicken! I already had so much chicken on my plate I couldn't go back for any more. Â Everything was delicious though and I am in a hazy food coma as I type this.
This place is a buffet to the max during lunch. You see the people that you expect to see at a buffet. The old couple, the obese man, the crazy looking guy, and me (the naked guy with mittens on).
I am a huge fan of their curry chicken dish accompanied by their signature drink that looks like a flaming volcano. Â It goes down and out well.
The reason I gave this place 4 stars is because of the owner Bill. This guy is the ultimate. He will come to your table and see how everything is and chat with you. But the best part is he will always remember your name. One time my girlfriend, my brother Chris (visiting from out of town), and I went and met Bill. One month later my girlfriend and I went back to fill up our pockets with lo mien and Bill stopped by. He asked me how my brother Chris was. I about crab rangooned my pants.
You have to give this place a whirl. I give it a strong 4 woks. Woka, Woka, Woka, Woka.
Savory beef and broccoli that wasn't chewy. Â Egg rolls that do not taste of the grease in which they were prepared. Â Miller Lite available in it's bottle form. Â Great place for a date night before catching a flick. Â
I'm very choosy about where I eat Chinese. Â Being subjected to bad Chinese take out as I grew up in a suburb in the Midwest, I no longer feel the need to subject my body nor tongue to such filth. Â This place I would gladly revisit when I'm in the area. Â
I would choose this over PF Chang's. Â Then again I really do not like PF Chang's.
