Went here with the hubby and kids for dinner. Â We frequented another place for Japanese food. Â But I pass by this place everyday while dropping off the kids to school. Â I finally had to give it a try. Â Glad I did!
This will be the place we will come to more frequently now since it's closer, good food, and great personal service. Â No wait on a Friday night, but busy enough where you knew this hidden gem is a good place to go. Â
We had the salad with ginger dressing, yakitori, miso soup, spicy salmon roll, 2 other of their specialty sushi rolls, and dessert. Â All good!!
Can't wait to try more on future visits.
I seemed to not have the same experience that alot of others have had at Osaka Sushi. When I arrived, the restaurant was empty and they seated me on the far end of the sushi bar, making me feel isolated. They then placed the next single person on the other end of the sushi bar, which increased the awkwardness level. I decided to order the sashimi lunch special, which came with soup, salad, shrimp and veggie tempura and a California roll. The soup was very good, but when the salad arrived, so did the problems. The salad was about 8 or 10 pieces of lettuce with a gelatinous dressing that tasted absolutely terrible. Then my main plate arrived. The sashimi, "roll" and tempura were all on one plate. The sashimi was 6 slices of fish that smelled so funky I was afraid to eat it. When I asked the chef behind the bar about it, he said it smelled fine. The California "roll" was two pieces of a roll that felt like it had not been made recently, an i saw the chef put pieces of the same roll on another plate for another person. The tempura was partly redeeming. The veggies were fried perfectly, and the tempura was crunchy. The shrimp was tasty as well and I was hoping to have more of it. I would recommend adding a little wasabi to the tempura dipping sauce to really give it a pop. For the price of lunch, I would recommend going to another sushi restaurant where the lunch will be a little more filling. On a personal note however, the staff was very nice, minus the "non-English speaking" chef. The hostess and wait staff were incredibly nice and fast with water refills and change, and made sure to open the door and pull out my seat. I would recommend going to Osaka for the tempura, and maybe try the sushi on a different day.
