Our parents took us out for our anniversary dinner and the whole staff made this a five star experience. Â The menus were personalized to say Happy 1st Anniversary! One staff member took some pictures of us and our family and then gave us each a copy to take home with us. Â The food was insanely delicious and the waitress helped us to choose our portions sizes correctly which was appreciated. The Porterhouse was truly memorable and the Shrimp Alexander was delish! Â The whole staff went above and beyond to make the evening fabulous! We will definitely be back!
Review Source:I have been to several Morton's and this is ok. Great service as I have experienced in the past and come to expect. We went for a double celebration, my daughter graduated Navy boot camp and I turned 1 year younger (my birthday) the manager took our photo and gave us 2 copies and my daughter and I a dessert on the house. They have a great military special and give you the same portions as the regular menu. We were seated immediately and enjoyed our dinner. Very nice and thanks for living up and exceeding my expectations  We had a great time.
Review Source:This review is just for the bar. The bar menu is more moderately priced that the regular menu. I had the Parmesan Truffle fries: fries were not bad, but truffle flavor? They must measure the truffle oil in microliters. And I thought there was no Parmesan cheese at all; but I was wrong, there was a few curls of Parmesan at the bottom of the tries. All, in all, pretty disappointing since I can get good fries at McDonalds for far less than $6. I also had the tuna tacos. These were pretty good. But what is with the strange sauce they come with? Is it a spicy thousands island dressing, or what? Beer and wine selection off the value menu is very limited and still $7 per glass. My first glass was pretty light on wine, although the second one was better. Service was good.
Review Source:Food was very good. Got the combo filet/seafood plate. The wait staff was disappointing. It took way too long to get drinks and have plates cleared. They left crumbs on our table, and we actually used our forks to flick off the table. They kept mixing up our orders. Costs way too much for low quality service.
Review Source:cant say i was overly impressed with this place. Â i knew we would have good food but the service left something to be desired. Â We made reservations through open table a few weeks before going. Â Didnt seem like anyone could find our reservation when we arrived with our party of 6. Â We were shown to our seats after a few minutes. Â
It took at least 15 minutes to get our drinks. Â The restaurant was about half full and the bar was hopping but that's a long time to wait for a few standard drinks.
Comedy of errors ensued.  We were there for my 50th birthday party.  Since we wanted to feel free to order what we wanted, we asked the waitress if we could get separate checks for our party.  3 couples so 3 checks.  I understand restaurants don't care for this but it was a simple question.  The waitress explained that she'd be happy to give us separate checks but we'd have to go by a numbering system.  We were each assigned a number and then we had to tell her which numbers went together so she could figure out the check  When we ordered a second drink, she asked us what our number was.  It was ridiculous.  Then, an appetizer showed up out of nowhere so my husband began eating it only to learn it was for a different table.  We hadn't been to this restaurant before so we thought they may bring this dish to everyone.  .  The wait staff actually took the appetizer from our table and gave it to the correct table after we had sampled.  It was so concerning to see.  A great place like this should have left the appetizer and ordered fresh for the table next to us.  My bone in ribeye was very well done on the outside but perfectly done on the inside.  We also shared two sides, brussel sprouts and augratin potatoes which were delicious.
Very slow water/drink refills. Â At one point, our waitress was gone for about 30 minutes. Â Never came back to ask us how everything was. Â The restaurant was only half full so I'm not sure where she went. Â
Our bill for the two of us was $270. Â The food was good but for that kind of money, I expected to be treated like a queen. Â That did not happen.
Was in there 2 weeks ago on a Saturday night and my wife and I sat in the bar. Â They have this special bar menu that is simply amazing. Â I couldn't believe the prices were as inexpensive as was stated on the menu and I had to have the bartender confirm it. Â He confirmed the inexpensive pricing and said that I'm not misreading the menu. Â We ordered a tuna appetizer off the main menu and then salads and entrees of the bar menu. Â The bartender was amazing even though the place was packed and the food was delicious. Â I felt that I was robbing them with the price I paid for the two of us. Â We are going to make this a regular go-to on the weekends moving forward. Â This is one exception to the statement, "You pay for what you get."
Review Source:Sep 9, 2012 - Dinner
Excellent meal. Â I would return in a heartbeat. Â Dinner consisted of French Onion soup, tomato and blue cheese salad, loaf of bread and their prime double cut pork chop. Â I don't normally eat bread, but this was outstanding and I couldn't stop eating the bread, followed by wonderfully seasoned French onion soup. Â The beefsteak salad was excellent too, perfectly seasoned. Â The prime chop was grilled to perfection, juicy, tender and good to the bone.
Dinner was supplemented a beefeater martini and 2 glasses of pinot noir wine. Â Excellent.
I ate in the bar area. Â There are a few TV's to watch. Â Full menu or a lighter bar menu is available. Â
I have to admit, it is an expensive meal, but well worth it. Â Enjoy!
We took our son here several years ago for his birthday with 3 of his closest friends. Â Unfortunately, the service, food quality, and the presentation of raw beef before dinner was poorly done. Â I did phone corporate afterwards complaining the $450.00 I spent for 6 people was disappointing. Â They responded with a $150.00 voucher as a consolation. Â I used the voucher but have not returned.
Review Source:Came here for a birthday with a semi-large party. Â
Greeted and seated in our own private dining room. Â Menus had a Happy Birthday plus the name of the guest on the header. Â Nice touch!
Like other high end steak places, the sides are huge. Â I would recommend ordering a variety of sides and sharing. Â Especially if most of the party you are with are ordering steaks. Â
I had a ribeye. Â Steak was cooked to my liking. Â Wife had the salmon. Â Both were excellent. Â
Staff was very accommodating and even cut the birthday cake we brought and served it to each guest.
MORTON'S BAR
Great martini's - had to cab it home many a night!
Best Bar food on the shore. Â Go try their special bar menu. Â You will immediately get it.
a little uppity... I said a little. Â But the staff only treat you that way if you're unfriendly.
Oh and this review isn't for the dining room. Â There they will always get 5 stars.
As many other Yelpers, I wish that we had an option for half a star. Since we don't and I can't give it a 3.5, I'd have to downgrade to a three star. I really wanted to give a 5 star review, however, I just can't.
When you go to a sushi restaurant, you want high class sushi. Same goes for a steakhouse... The entire day I was craving that fillet Mignon that I was going to have and it ended up being a huge disappointment. I have to say though, our server was GREAT! As well as all the other food items we ate..
We came here for restaurant week (so MAYBE that's why our steak wasn't as good as it should have been) but in any case, I won't be coming back to check if I am right or wrong. The huge round loaf of bread they placed in front of us was amazing - seemed like it came right out of the oven. It had a perfect amount of onion/garlic taste to it. I had a Cesar salad for the first course, though it's hard to mess that one up, I do have to say it was one of the best Cesar salads I ever had. For the entrees, both my boyfriend and I ordered the fillet Mignon's. He had medium rare and I had medium. And both of us were disappointed. I've had better steaks for cheaper prices in many other places. The steak wasn't juicy enough, it wasn't soft enough, and it didn't have enough flavor. Oh well.. Â I do have to say that I ordered the mac n cheese for the side (which was not on the menu yet) and it was AMAZING. I am not a fan of it, but I have always wanted to try it at a trendier restaurant and it was to die for. It had a lot of extra cheese and a bit burned around edges, which gave it the perfect touch.
Also, creme brulee for dessert - so good!
Anyway, as much as I wanted to enjoy it to the max, I didn't and, therefore, will not be coming back.
Gift Card, No Kids, Date Night - YAY. Â We checked out the website and unsurprisingly, the menu items did not show prices. Yes, i was worried. I had a $100 gift card and wanted to make the most of it. However, there was a special $109.99 steak and seafood- Perfect! Place is really hoity toity. Gentlemen in tuxes welcome you and even every worker that you see before you sit bids you a good meal. Almost felt like a hotel. Waiter was really nice, and we heard him do meal presentation to guests behind us. Another server noticed we were waiting for a while and kindly did the presentation to us. She was very quick and probably have done it like 100x that evening, but she spoke really fast and at the last minute she wasn't even looking at us but at another table.. hmmm.. very obvious lady. Then our server came and gave us a paper menu which after doing the calculations, we can both order 1 steak ($46) and 1 crab cake($44) - thats it, to keep meal within $100. I was embarrassed to ask about the special, not wanting to look like a cheapo. But realized - what the heck, I may never see these people again. So we asked waiter about it and he gladly brought over a card that comes with the Steak and Seafood Special. This is what we got: 2 Chopped Salads (generous portion and delish), 2 Single cut filet (tiny, but perfectly cooked and THICK), 2 sides-we picked grilled asparagus (it wasnt crunchy enough for me and had this weird brown sauce) and spinach with button mushrooms (really good- more spinach than mushrooms, wish it was otherway around), 2 desserts: chocolate cake with icecream(soooooo good!!) and key lime pie (tasty, but crust not that great). All in all - our entire bill less tip came out to $122. Â With my $100 gift card we paid $22 + 30% tip to our server who was really nice, great smile and kept eye contact. Â Note to Morton's: thank you for these special deals so non-rich folks like us can partake in your meals. Â Thanks Eric for being a great server.
Review Source:This is the place I go for special occasions. The service is the best and I like the fact that I can bring my own wine. I always enjoy the surf n turf specials and my wife and I always leave room for dessert (Creme Brulee or the chocolate cake. On occasion you may see a Chicago Bull or Chicago Bear.
Review Source:If you're reading this you may have heard the buzz, "Morton's is better than Ruth Chris." But, I would disagree. Not because I am sick in the head, but only because I have been to the Northbrook location. After all the hype, I was a little disappointed because I was expecting the best steak of my life. When I took my first bite, there was no question that Ruth Chris steak was better. HOWEVER, I have heard that the Original Morton's is happening. They have the original chef working there too, so that must be the secret. That guy must know something that he does not tell anyone else...
The steak at the Northbrook location was still great, but I just thought I have had better. And for that price, I gotta give this place 4 stars.
Despite all the hype with this place, my date had to send his steak back 3 times. I went here for restaurant week and got my pre fixe deal. The petite filet was delicious but the asparagus was lackluster, soggy. The waitress talked and waited on us like we were no ones. Maybe because we looked young and she didn't think we were worth her time, disappointing. My date ordered off the regular menu and asked for his New York strip steak to be medium rare, it came out well done, second time, came out so rare that the center was cold. The third time, it just seemed like they tried to warm it up but it was still cold in the center. We ate it in misery, not wanting to send it back a 4th time and getting the chef in trouble. If I am going to be paying that much for a piece of meat, I'd want it to be cooked just the way I like it! No apologies from the waitress or management. Parking is ample, front staff is nice. Too bad this place didn't live up to it's hype for us, so disappointing,
Review Source:This place is not a great place. I would rate the bar 4 stars and the restaraunt 2 stars
the happy hour meal deals and food are high quality.
*the main dinining room the meals seemed to be a little underwhelming.
had the chopped salad and for 12 bucks I got a small plate that had a weak presentation, lack of taste, and seemed more like a side salad."
ordered the bone in filet, and asked for it to be medium. it came out rare, i dont think they know how to cook a steak with the bone in..it was bloody when it came out.
overall, not a great value...but if you eat at the bar, the menu is tasty and plenty of good eats during happy hour.
EAT AT THE BAR.
The one and only. Â Arnie perfected and oversaw this and he did a brilliant job. Â Amazing everything. Â LOVE that the entire menu is brought out for all to choose to dine. Â The chocolate souffle is wonderful but you need to ask them too cook it when you sit down to dine. Â I have the recipe too ( not exact but amazing!)
Review Source:This is some high class dining! Â We sat in the bar and ordered off of the bar menu and it was an amazing deal for excellent food! Â The smoked salmon pizza and crab cake sliders are to die for! Â It's hard to believe that they offer such gourmet food for such a good price (most of the appetizers are 5 to 6 dollars). Â We also had about three different people come to our table and make sure we were enjoying our meal and to see if we needed anything else! Â Excellent customer service! Â And yes, as Luke S. warned, beware of the cougars sipping on wine and lurking in the corners! Â Or, if cougars are your bag, baby, I suggest you come here because they are quite plentiful!
Review Source:If you hide a secret camera into this place you could make a new Bravo show about Real Housewives of the North Shore. Â There are more cougars in this bar than any other spot in the North Shore. Â Seriously beware of the ladies who lunch!
I do have to say that despite potential cougar attacks this place has very good food. Â If you sit in the bar they have unbeatable food specials that last all night! Â You can get almost any appetizer on their menu for $5-6 dollars. Â My family comes in here quite often and we tend to make a meal out of it. Â
The service is also first class. Â They make sure that you are well attended to and that your food is cooked just the way you like it.
I went this past weekend for my dad's birthday and was not at all impressed. The crowd was definitely older, by older I mean 30s and up for a Friday night at 7:00pm. Â I wouldn't bring your kid here... For a steak house, it was mediocre at best. The prices are steep and for the service, not the biggest fan. The staff was knowledgeable and very nice, but if you're paying $70 for a steak, I would like a butter knife for the bread. I'm just saying. On a side note, the tuna tartar was fantastic! It's a solid restaurant. The food is good, not great (aside from the tartar) and the staff was sweet, but it was the ambiance that got me. It is not the most happening or exciting place to eat...
Review Source:Let me preface this review with the fact that I am not a Midwestern hick.  I may have grown up outside of Chicago, but my idea of fine cuisine is not Cheesecake Factory, and I genuinely think that Morton's, despite its chain nature, is the place to get a really lovely and  totally orgiastic feast (or a quiet family dinner, which is how we usually roll) on the North Shore!
I've been to Morton's on several occasions, and we ended up there last night after calling literally 10 restaurants near our house on a random Wednesday and being told that we would have to wait at least 45 min for a table anywhere, which we all deemed unacceptable given than Hanger was approaching quickly.
We ripped into their warm oniony bread with gusto (though the butter, which was rock solid, took a bit more finessing), and listened to Howard, our waiter, point at the obscenely large cuts of meat and hold a 3485 lb lobster in my face. Â Characteristically we all went for the fish, Chilean sea bass (grilled simply, hold the pineapple shit) and the salmon in a beurre blanc sauce.
Both were wonderful--simple but delicious. Â We also did a baked potato (dry, not worth it) and the spinach and shrooms (yes!). Â
Feeling bold, we split two behemoth desserts--the key lime pie and the carrot cake. Â The pie is some of the best I've had outside of the south, though could have been a bit more tart, the crust is wonderful.
The carrot cake is UNREAL. Â I hate cake. Â It toys with my emotions, pulling me in w/ frosting, and then dashing my dreams w/ dryness, but I do like carrot cake b/c it's usually moist. Â And let me tell you, this was amongst the moistest I've ever encountered. Â The frosting is lighter than a traditional CC, but 100% worth the calories.
Thank for Morton's, for making it worth it for me to have a hard time fitting into my clothes this morning.
I've eaten at Morton's in about 6 different cities and I have to say, the original is the best. Toronto being a distant second. It's the quintessential steakhouse experience, with all of the trimmings. Great cuts. Perfectly cooked. Great sides. And a Grand Marnier Soufflé for dessert, and what more could you ask for? A cigar? Lucky you, they have those too.
Review Source:What a disappointment! Â I have been to other Morton's location numerous times - I have never been disappointed. Â You go to Morton's knowing that you will pay top dollar, but always expecting superior service and food. Â Our ribeye steaks were dry and tasteless; the weight staff was nothing to write home about. Â
Definitely NOT worth the money, and a disgrace to other Morton's locations; I am surprised Morton's allow them to operate under their well known name.
I love this place! Â My husband and I go here whenever we can. Â It maybe expensive but your steak is worth every cent. Â I highly recommend their steak and the sesame crusted ahi tuna. Â
This is a great place to go for an any time dinner or a special night out. Â They will even take a picture of you and print it down before you leave!!
Occasion:
Saturday night dinner date away from the kids.
Summary:
My favorite food in the world is steak and I had not been to a Mortons so we decided to cross this one off the list. Overall it was a very good dinner, but also very pricey, so this is definitely a splurge spot. If it weren't for the fantastic bone-in fillet, I probably would not go back, but that alone makes it worth a return visit.
Food:
Tuna Tar tare appetizer, wedge salad, bone-in fillet, bone-in rib eye, asparagus, grand marnier souffle, one cocktail, one glass of wine. 200$ for 2 people.
The tuna was fantastic, I am not a seafood lover, but I really enjoyed this. The salad was fine, nothing remarkable, but a classic wedge is hard to improve or mess up. The steaks were both excellent, but the bone-in fillet was out-of-this-world good, by far the best steak I have ever had. It had a more intense flavor than the rib eye but with the butter-smooth texture of a fillet, it practically melted in my mouth. This one is not to be missed. The asparagus was fine. The souffle had a decent grand marnier flavor, but the texture was slightly off and the egg flavor was very prominent, almost like fluffy sweet scrambled eggs. I definitely would not order it again.
Service:
Service was fine, nothing outstanding. Our waiter was ok....there were long periods where we had to wait for him to order drinks, he didn't tell us about their dining special (I think because he wanted a bigger bill), didn't have all the menus with him and forgot to bring us another one until 15 minutes later when we reminded him, took my dirty knife off of my salad plate and placed it on the table with the intention that that is what I would use for my steak (I asked for a new one), and got our table mixed up with another when bringing out food but he had a pleasant attitude and was apologetic rest of the staff was great (water was always full, plates were cleared promptly, etc.) which helped to balance out the not so remarkable waiter. There was nothing major to make the service bad, but for a 200$ dinner I definitely expect better.
Ambiance:
Nice surroundings, but a little sterile. It is not as warm and "rich" feeling as the downtown steakhouses. The dining room was way too brightly lit, I felt like I was eating in my kitchen.
As a kid in the early 1970's, there would be these random weekends where we would drive to Wicker Park, pick up my great-grandparents and then meet a dozen or so other relatives at Arnie's, the precursor to Morton's. The original owner's name was Arnie Morton. I remember really liking Arnie's. I have never been to a Morton's. I thought it would be like Arnie's, it wasn't. Arnie's was more of a down-home steak house with a killer weekend brunch buffet. Morton's is a high-priced steakhouse that is a mega chain with 80 or so locations around the country.
My wife had read some reviews and decided that Morton's would be a romantic setting for our 12th anniversary. Morton's gets five stars for romance. It is dimly lit, candles on each table, dark woodsy decor, decent space between tables, white tablecloth.
The menus were pre-printed just for us and wished us happy anniversary. Our waitress was tremendous. She was warm, friendly and very attentive. The host came by and took our photo and presented it to us in a cardboard frame at the end of the meal. It was really nice.
Unfortunately, the food just wasn't very good. The oysters appetizer was fine. The lobster bisque was just okay. I ordered a filet Mignon and requested it to be cooked medium. The waitress said a medium cooked filet would be charred on the outside and pink inside. My filet was charred inside and out. It wasn't very good. The side veggie dishes were also bland and nothing special. The dessert tasted like it came from Chili's.
For drinks I picked a random Merlot and it was awesome. The wife had a couple of cosmos and really liked them.
Overall, we had a really nice time and a much needed night to ourselves away from the kids. The atmosphere was so nice that I'd give Morton's another try but I won't have the filet.
Date: April 2009
Occasion: Girlfriend anniversary
Food ordered: Chicago style Bone-in ribeye (medium-rare), Lamb chops (medium), oyster as appetizer, grilled asparagus as side, raspberry souffle as dessert.
Pros:
1) No reservation but we were still seated promptly at a Saturday night.
2) Great service. Very knowledgeable servant and food comes out at decent pace.
3) Fresh oyster, the asparagus was cooked perfectly, and the lamb chops are just mouth watering. Just enough fat to balance yet not to greasy, its by far the best lamb chops I have ever had.
Cons:
1) The steak..mleh.. its OK but definitely did not blow my mind away, whats so special about morton's steak? I don't understand.
2) The souffle is bland, and the texture is weird.
3) very, very expensive (~$170 for both of us)
Bottom line: Great service, above ave. food (some GREAT, some decent) but very expensive.
okay, now i must admit. i'm logging this review one month after i actually ate there.
let me start with the positives...
the ambience is excellent.
the service was excellent.
on with the review.
1) it was my birthday and they had a printed menu for the "special occasion", but it was on regular typing paper. i think it may have been an 8x14 piece, but still... i mean, if you're going to go through the trouble, use card stock at least.
2) the lobster bisque was bland and not that creamy. there were two pieces 0.5inch lobster that were actually pretty tasty, but there was something wrong with the base. it didn't really taste like anything. sort of like... lobster water.
3) i had the porterhouse. i like it rare, but i think i may have ordered it medium rare. it was cooked to my specification, but the meat had this really odd texture. it was shredding in my mouth. i would liken it to a braised short rib texture where even as i would cut it with my knife it would shred apart. i was thoroughly not impressed. my husband had the bone in rib eye and he said it was defintely average if not subpar.
4) i think we had the creme brulee for dessert which was probably the highlight, sad to say at a steak house.
oooh... one more positive. the maitre d took a digital photo of us and put it in this morton steakhouse card stock frame. i thought it was cheesy and cute.
i would not recommend this place unfortunately as great as the service was. up north, you're probably better off going to ruth's chris.
Went here for dinner recently during the week without a reservation and opted to sit in the bar. Â There is a bar-menu, but anything on the restaurant menu is also available at the bar. Â We've been here before, but only on weekend evenings. Â The parking lot and restaurant were almost empty and there were few folks that walked through the door while we dined.
They have an extensive wine list and many by-the-glass options including a  nice Ironhorse Cabernet choice (decent sized pour for about $16 a glass).
Efficient, friendly service. Â Bar area is large and there are a few tables to choose from. We opted to sit at a table in the bar area.
Shrimp cocktail was very good and consisted of four large, cold, firm shrimp accompanied by a nose-clearing horseradish-based cocktail sauce.  The shrimp were large enough to share among a couple of people.  The Iceberg Wedge salad was large and accompanied by a blue cheese dressing (thousand island was also an option), bacon and diced tomato.  The blue-cheese french fries are a wonderful side dish that are not to be missed.  The steaks and the hamburger slides (I believe the hamburger sliders are available in the bar only) were top notch.  Portions are large-sized and dessert was  skipped.
I went here with a friend on last Saturday evening at 7 pm without a reservation, and we were offered seats on the bar (otherwise a 1 hour wait).
Opening the menu, my mouth began drooling uncontrollably when I saw "prime rib" on the menu with a "Friday & Saturday only" asterisk. Â Score!
Unfortunately, they did not have any left! Â No score! Â How can a high-end steakhouse run out of prime rib on a Saturday evening by 7 pm?
I settled for the rib eye, which I found to be quite a bit too salty for my taste. Â Also, it was brought to our table as we were barely halfway through our salads. Â Granted, you aren't going to get the same service in the bar area as in the dining room, and our bar waitress was doing the best she could, but there should be a bit more communication between all parties involved (bread, salad, steak were all brought by different people), especially when you are dropping $47 on an entree alone.
All in all, a decent steak, but not the quality or experience I'd expect from an $80 dinner.
Since my last experience at Morton's (downtown) was a decent one (bad date but great steak), I dragged my husband here for our monthly date. Â We started off with these pomegranate mojitinis which were sweet but really good. Â Our server, Laura, was super friendly and very helpful. Â The bread roll was amazingly good and my husband couldn't stop grabbing more of it. Â However, that's when we stopped being impressed. Â We started off both with the caesar salad which had a fishy aftertaste and I ended up stopping after the first couple bites. Â Later, our server confirmed the fishy taste and said that they used an anchovy paste in their caesar salad.
We then moved onto our appetizers - my husband's shrimp alexander was amazing - that sauce was just melt in your mouth good! Â My crabcake was mediocre - generously sized but a bit on the dry side. Â Both of us were very disappointed in our filets. Â They were burnt on the outside and barely tender on the inside. Â We each had maybe two slices each and decided to stop. Â We had two sides to our filets - steamed asparagus with hollandaise and potato skins. Â The asparagus was fine but the hollandaise sauce was a bit too watery for my taste.
The cool thing about the potato skins was how someone came over and offered us butter, sour cream and bacon bits over it, however, I was not impressed with the potato skins either.
Service was a bit slow and we did have quite a wait in between courses, so by this point, we were tired and not happy with our entrees - we ended up trying their desserts and the molten chocolate cake was delish whereas the key lime pie left me desiring something else.
Overall, I'd skip Morton's because of the poor meat that we had and will go to Pete Miller's anyday over Morton's.
For the real meat lover, especially steak, it doesn't  get any better than Morton's.  I have been going to this restaurant chain, (yes, I said chain) since it first opened as Arnie Morton's in Chicago's Rush Street area in the early 60's.  There used to be one in Arlington Heights or Rolling Meadows or Schaumburg, and my husband and I went there for special occasions.  I remember once saving my pennies and taking him there for his birthday.  I had $175 in my pocket for the two of us and thought I was good to go (this was in the early 90's and that was a lot to spend on dinner then).  Wrong.  Because everything is a la carte, you can spend big bucks here without ordering more than a steak with a couple of sides.  The salads are very classy and tasty, the chopped spinach one of the best I've had......it's very garlicy, the sauteed mushrooms and onions are yummy on any steak, and the steaks, while probably no longer prime are most certainly choice and cooked to perfect temperature.  The lobster was huge and one member of our party tried it and said it was great.  Morton's is definitely not inexpensive, but the food speaks for itself.  Valet parking is offered and reservations are a must.  It's so noisy, I don't understand why it is always filled with businessmen and women.  They're certainly not talking about business, unless they can read lips.
Review Source:You cannot serve inferior beef if you want to stay in business in Chicagoland, and that is a principle that Morton's understands. Â They also offer several well-known side dishes: Â the Morton salad (all green with crumbled blue cheese), beefsteak tomato and onion salad, huge baked potatoes, asparagus, plus others, with predominantly meat entrees. Â Huge fresh lobsters are always displayed to the amazement of diners and there is a range of tempting desserts. Â
Valet parking is offered and reservations are recommended. It is clearly designed to attract a business crowd with its ala carte menu of substantial portions suited to expense account credit cards. At a suburban location, with A/C blowers blasting customers into jackets, they need to shed that annoying urban "attitude" that upscale places use to promote an exclusive ambience. (I'm laughing of course...)
Everything (presented tableside) looked extraordinary . The lobster tail which accompanied my petit filet mignon also looked attractive, but it wasn't good at all, and when I complained, I was told that item was pre-frozen! (Are you kidding?) I stifled my shock, but ate none of it. Â They made a partial adjustment on the bill. Â My advice: stick to the meat and potatoes, and you'll be fine.
