MY FAVORITE PLACE IN DOWNTOWN BAKERSFIELD. This business contributes to the iconic edge that downtown bakersfield is known for. Not only are the staff professional, but are extremely polite and personable. Although it is already such a success.....I wish it much more success and lots of love..
Review Source:Third time is a charm! Finally got to try this new place across from Mama Roomba...my husband and I wanted to try Muertos for sometime now, but the first time happened to be on a Monday night (but they on sundays and mondays), ah! :(. We tried a second time on 7/3, only to find out they closed early for 4th of July holiday. Just our luck :(
But this Saturday, on our third time here, we were seated promptly upon arrival. Service was friendly, but as the place got busier, the understaffed wait staff was overwhelmed and the service became almost non-existent.
We ordered the:
(1) beer battered mushrooms and white wine sangria to start.
the beer battered mushrooms were deep fried to perfection, crispy batter with succulent shroom inside, came with thousand island dip that enhanced the flavoring.
the white wine sangria was good, but lacked alcohol content. It had grapes on the bottom of the glass and chunks of fresh apples floating on top...
(2) My husband was excited about getting their burger as they came highly recommended by his coworkers. He ordered the Fernando Burger with an over-easy egg (all burgers and sandwiches entrees came with fries). He said the patty was nicely cooked, but heavy on the paprika, which may have overpowered the flavor. Â He had ordered the egg over-easy, it came medium and the yolk was not runny...(so essentially, over-hard instead)
(3) I ordered the Muertos Cheesesteak, it was a bit underwhelming = cheesy, meaty, but forgetful. I enjoyed my fries though, it came with a packet of ketchup.
Dress cool if you come in the late afternoon, as the lounge was probably a sutry 85 degrees even with the ceiling fans working. You might even be visited by a few flies if the lounge door is propped open to let in air! :)
Overall experience and food was 3.5 stars!
