I'd like to start by saying that my rolls were pretty good. I went here for lunch with a colleague and didn't have the greatest service experience. Upon entering, we waited for a few minutes before anyone came over to seat us. This was odd since there were two or three servers talking off to the side who had to have seen us and the sushi chefs were there.....texting. Once we were seated, the service didn't get any better. Our server was SLOW! It took us over an hour to have lunch! I watched my roles sit on top of the sushi case for a good 10-15 minutes, which isn't the best environment for RAW FISH. My colleague ordered the chicken lunch box, which our server dropped on the way out of the kitchen. I understand that these things happen, but he didn't even come over and tell us it was going to be a minute and my sushi sat up there even longer. Once we finally got out meals the server disappeared for the rest of the meal. My water was never refilled, even after the server finally came back to take our plates. He finally asked if we were paying separately and returned about 10 minutes later with our checks. Although the food was good, I will probably not be returning to this location because I cannot tolerate poor service!

I must first say my date and I LOVE the Broad Ripple location. This establishment is nothing like the one in B-Rip. The menu was complicated (not your tradition sushi menu) What happened to giving me a pencil and me filling out my own list of what I want? It seemed as if they tried to "Americanize" this location. If I want "Americanized" food I would go get a burger. The food?? Terrible in comparison to the Broad Ripple location. The sauce on the Playboy roll was basicly BBQ sauce.. They don't have a standard "Philly Roll". They brought us a Philly roll with bacon on it! Bacon?? The server was terrible, Our Playboy roll was luke warm because the server spilled most of the cooking fuel on the floor when she brought it to us. Then she got agitated because we were unsatisfied with our experience. Long story short we didn't pay for the meal and the manager gave us a $20 gift card to use at the B-Rip location. So if you are big fans of the B-rip location and are on the North side thinking "hey lets just go to Naked on 96th street"... Don't do it..

The location was convenient. The interior of the place looks fine and we were seated immediately. There are so many menu options since its a combination of east asian food..Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The menu even offers you a tutorial on how to use chopsticks which i find funny. The one thing I'm complaining about this place is their food. We ordered the Maui roll and it was blah. The grade of the sushi rice was disgusting. As Anthony Bourdain would say... A good sushi starts with the rice. Then we ordered their famous playboy roll. The presentation was pretty fancy since it was served on fire on a sizzling plate. However, it tasted like charcoal. I don't understand why this is popular. We also ordered this appetizer where it's a mixture of pork, tuna and mango served on a bed of lettuce. It was beyond disgusting. We actually had the food returned to think I rarely as in rarely do that. The server was nice enough to remove the item from our bill. Order something else I guess besides the sushi.

This is my favorite restaurant. This place has the best sushi in Indiana hands down. The fish is always fresh, the rolls are unique and brilliantly blend a variety of distinct flavors together for an unforgettable taste.

An example is the corona roll, it has spicy tuna, avacado and crunchy tempura chips on the inside, and white tuna, wasabi mayo, and slices of lime on the top. The ingredients in the roll work well together to create a delicious roll which has a very faint corona-like taste (Mainly because of the lime, it does not taste like beer or alcohol at all).

Another roll, which happens to be my favorite is the playboy roll. The inside of the roll is stuffed with tempura shrimp, asparagus, spicy tuna, and some of those crunchy tempera flakes. The roll is topped with cooked shrimp and 3 special sauces. But what really brings the playboy roll alive and distinguishes it from other rolls is the way it is cooked before it reaches your table. After the playboy roll is rolled, it is wrapped in aluminum foil and placed on a plate with everclear (a flammable alcohol). The server then sets the everclear on fire, creating a flame under the sushi that cooks it while it is wrapped in aluminum foil. The server drops the playboy roll off on your table while it is still on fire. After the fire is gone and the roll is cooked, open up the foil and be prepared for the best taste of you life.

Aside from the sushi, Naked Tchopstix has excellent other food also. I recommend the spicy sashimi mix, the toast and jam, and the pot stickers.

I eat here once or twice a month for lunch.  Consistently good sushi, service has always been at least decent, sometimes very, very good.  It's usually crowded for lunch since it's near a lot of office buildings.

I like to order the Playboy roll because:

    A.  It's really tasty.

    B.  It sounds cool to order it.  How often can you order something at a restuarant with the word "Playboy" in it?

I do not wear silk pajamas, a bathrobe or slippers when I'm here, so I guess that sort of spoils my whole Playboy image thing.  Oh well.  I'll keep ordering the Playboy roll and maybe one of these days (Halloween, maybe?) I'll show up dressed like Hef and order in style.

Ordered the undon noodle soup and tempura plate. 5 stars on the tempura and 1 on the soup. The only thing that was lacking with the soup was the broth which brought down the entire dish. I recommend changing the recipe.

I will be returning as I can not wait to try some of the other dishes that looked amazing

Traffic was bad outside but not inside so that was a good thing. Always love coming here they have an awesome selection but I cant give it 5 stars, but it is very good and highly recommend it!

First trip here last night and it was great.  My wife and I sat in the bar and enjoyed the warm atmosphere.  Our waiter was very personable and very helpful.  I ordered off of the sushi menu and my wife ordered a sandwich.  The fact that the menu offers sushi, sandwiches and full entrees is really nice for mixed groups who don't all want to eat sushi.

The raw scallop and the Crunch & Munch roll were excellent.

The dining room seemed to be casual and there were several families with small kids.  Two people can easily eat for $40.00.  There is a lunch menu, so lunch would be less expensive.

    I will definitely be back!

I've only been a couple times, but I've had a consistently good experience.  I went with three friends and we split each dish four ways. We had a cucumber roll that was pretty nice, and a very good shrimp tempura roll. The salmon teriyaki was delicious- i tried to steal my friend's piece. We also had a beef dish that i believe was negimaki. Service was pretty good, but the place gets crowded extremely easily. We were seated an inch away from another group. I suppose that's permissible for a smaller restaurant, but it was a bit uncomfortable.

Edamame: not steamed enough, almost raw, unsalted.
    Miso soup: sour
Crunchy Salmon Roll: not an ounce of salmon, only salmon skin charred to taste exactly like eating charcoal.
All other sushi: not terrible, but not fresh.
Service: polite, but not helpful- didn't know which rolls were which and didn't offer to make the salmon skin situation right even when we were clearly displeased.
    Even the ginger was dry.

THE worst sushi experience I've ever had.

I have been here twice and have tried an assortment of sushi rolls including (my favorite) the spicy salmon and have been very disappointed. My friend ordered a roll called the Crunchy Salmon Roll. Given that salmon is in the title, one would think that it would have salmon in it, but much to our dismay, it is made of charred salmon skin, tempura, lettuce, rice, and nori. Maybe some people like this this type of roll (we did not), but my complaint is that the way it is listed on the menu is very misleading. While I'm complaining, I might as well mention the fact that the rolls are too large in circumference to enjoy in one bite. We also ordered edamame, potstickers, miso soup, and rice, all of which were subpar. I'm not giving this place a third chance. There are several places in the Indy area with much better sushi for a cheaper price.

This place is a savior for people from coastal cities accustomed to good and abundant Korean food, and for me it is well worth the almost 2 hour drive from Bloomington. My wife and I come here for the Dolsot Bi Bim Bap and the Soon Doo Boo tofu soup, which are served in oven-heated stone bowls and stay hot throughout the entire meal.  Although they do not serve the full range of Korean pickled things along with your dishes, they do serve a kimchi, which is crunchy, spicy, and delicious.

Service can be up-and-down, depending on the time of day.  I've seen them go from empty to a waiting list in a matter of minutes.  The place seems to be popular with rich housewives, who invade with their strollers en masse and really tie up the staff for periods at a time.  The ambiance is always nice, however, and the bar addition has suited the place nicely and given it a classy touch.

A cute place with a decent selection, plus some extra stuff for the non sushi people. I thought the food was ok - nothing amazing, but not bad. The sushi itself was comparable to that found at The Journey...a step above grocery store quality, but not as good as Sushi on the Rocks and other places. I got the Japanese bento lunchbox and it had an adorable presentation and a good variety. The general tso's chicken was ok, I've had better from hole in the wall chinese places. The dressing on the salad was good, so it's a shame they put it on an iceberg mix instead of a variety of greens. The potstickers and egg rolls seem store bought and the veggies were over salted. Crab Rangoon was good as well as the white rice. The lunch boxes come with California rolls which sucks, but I got some of my husbands spicy rolls to try. The service wasn't great and I felt the menu was somewhat overpriced.

After typing out this review I am realizing I liked the place less than I thought. I'd skip it and try somewhere else if you're a big sushi fan.

As you may notice, several of the pictures posted here are from me. I'm a big fan of sushi in all forms and Naked Tchopstix has yet to let me down. I followed the sushi chef, Nobu, from Miyagi's to here because of his culinary wizardry. He can definitely whip up some serious and various maki, nigiri & sashimi creations. I eat everything (except mackerel, only once I liked it and it was prepared by the master Greg Hardesty when he had H2O) so I ask what had just been delivered and let him have at it. Obviously there are some favorites such as the Playboy roll but for the most part, on the sashimi side, I can count on him to select me great cuts of each individual fish and I know I will get good quality and quantity when I make my order. I cannot comment on most of the cooked dishes because I really haven't eaten many. Go for the sush and sit at the sushi bar with Nobu! I went 4 stars because on several occasions while sitting at tables the service from the wait staff was extremely slow. Other than that Thumbs UP!!!

It's hard to outdo sushi served flaming. This place has good sushi with great mixes and more importantly decent size rolls. Not too big or too small. My playboy roll came to me in flames, which is not something the mention on the menu. It gave my roll the perfect smoky flavor and I was pleasantly pleased by that affect.  Everything else my friends got looked great. The traditional Japanese box looked great and the lettuce wraps were amazing. The beef was perfectly seasoned and came with this great sauce. It was actually the first time I've seem the beef to lettuce ratio heavily stacked in the beef's favor. Definitely get that because it doesn't disappoint. The decor in this place could use some work. Something almost felt cheesy about it.  Nonetheless, the food is pretty good.

I went here for first time last week and loved it! It was pretty lively for a Wednesday night by my friend and I got a table right away. He got the notorious Playboy rolls, which are served on fire, and I got the Sunset rolls. Both were delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. Great portions too for a reasonable price.

The ONLY reason I didn't give Naked Tchopstix 5 stars was that their crab rangoons, which the menu claims to be "the best in town," were highly underwhelming and overpriced. They were the kind that were folded over into lazy little triangles rather than the cuter kind with the corners pinched together. Also, the cheese inside was gooey and didn't seem to have much crab (or fake crab).

Other than the crab rangoons that were not all they were cracked up to be, this place was great!

Our absolute favorite, and we love either location though 96th street typically is less crowded.  Never has a roll disappointed us here.  The Maui Roll simply amazing, sweet and just delicious.  The Mafia, Corona, Sunset, Playboy are also fabulous.  And of course the Nigiri never disappoints.

The philly roll was not bad. But $7+ for it, seriously? My husband did not care for his nigiri, he said it was the wrong color. Silverware and table were dirty. Our waiter was nice, maybe a little too nice. The hostess, who I guess was a server too, was rude to us but nice to everyone else. Didn't fill us in on the specials, but did for everyone else. But, whatever. We won't be back. Kona Grill at Clay Terrace is 100 times better.

Wow, this was my first visit to Naked Tchopstix and it was great! Our server Chris was awesome and made really good recommendations. I had a fresh Kiwi Passionfruit Martini that was the best, my husband had two. Our server recommended a few sushi rolls which weren't on the menu, two of which we tried and were very pleased with. I had the Waikiki roll, a sweet and fruity roll that had a perfect mix of flavor. It also had a small flame on the side as garnishment. My husband tried the Tower, which was just that. A stack of rice and tuna with a jelly top. The prices weren't too bad either. I'll be going back for sure.

I came here tonight with the Indianapolis Sushi Meet Up group.  There were about a dozen of us and we had a room off the main dining room to ourselves.

This was my first visit to this Naked Tchopstix...I've been to the Broad Ripple one a couple of times.  This one is much larger, but the BR one has a better vibe...plus I can walk there from home.

The regular part of the restaurant was not full and the service for our group was so-so...you had to individually ask for the bill, rather than the waiter bringing all of our bills at once.  I didn't like the fact that they automatically added a 20% gratuity...the usual 'group' standard is 18%.  Glad someone pointed it out because I didn't notice at first and almost added an additional tip.

I had the spicy sashimi as well as the calamari appetizers.  Both were good and just the right amount of food.  The various rolls that others in our group ordered looked amazing, but most commented that the pieces were way too big and made eating them a contact sport :-p

A couple people in our group ordered the Playboy roll...which is set on fire before being served.  Fun...but I still prefer my sushi raw.

This evening was my second visit to Naked Tchopstix.  The first time I was there, I was not terribly impressed. Someone else in our party suggested it for tonight so I went thinking it wasn't terrible the first time so I'll go.

I was much more pleased this evening.  I started with a Yo La Mango Martini that was wow YUMMY! I can see where that could be a dangerous drink.  The table shared edamame and vegetable spring rolls, and my friend and I shared the Maui Roll and the Playboy roll. Both were really, really good. I preferred the Maui roll and my friend liked the Playboy roll better.

Our service was excellent. We did not wait long for our food, our server overheard us talking about sea salt for the edamame and brought it to us and what impressed me the most was that when he brought our bills to us he had already separated everything out. He divided the appetizers 4 ways and divided the sushi rolls that my friend and I shared between our checks.  We didn't even have to ask. It was great!  More over, we sat and chatted for a really long time, and we were not rushed out by anyone.

Have eaten there four times. Open on Sunday to help with my raw fish craving.
Try the Spicy Sashimi (actually a Korean dish hew dup bap) -  I try this dish wherever they have it and it is very good here with a very nice presentation.
    Son likes the nigiri.
I am also a big fan of the spicy eggdrop soup.
    Service is ok.

    1.  If you love sushi, you have to try the Playboy Role from Naked Tchopstix.  Can't beat it!
    2.  The service at the 96th St. location is much better than the service at the Broad Ripple location.  If you are dining with a big group, don't come with time restraints, or you will leave angry about the service but more than satisfied with the food!!

We decided to take a break from car shopping, and Tchopsticks is conveniently located for this purpose.  We walked in based on its relative charm compared to the other restaurants in this strip mall.  The inside was cute, clean, and modern.  Service was friendly and fast, and they had a large range of choices for lunch specials, which were all reasonably priced.

Unfortunately, the food was not very good.  My mom got some sweet and sour chicken, which was similar to something you might find at Panda Express.  I ordered some sushi.  Instead of pieces of meat in my spicy tuna roll, the tuna appeared to be pureed, which was kind of unappetizing.  Also, it wasn't spicy at all.  We did clean our plates, so it wasn't disgusting or anything, but it wasn't particularly good either.  I don't think I'll be back.

I want to like this restaurant and its Broad Ripple sister.  I love Asian food.  But I will never visit there again.

Last night was the first time we visited the 96th street location after 3 or 4 mediocre experiences in Broad Ripple.  The food is always decent in an upscale-food-court kind of way, but with better atmosphere.

But what happened at 96th street is something that should never happen to any diner.

I ordered the Bibimbap, which came without the promised spicy pepper sauce.  When I asked the server, she said, "oh, that only comes with the (pricier)  Dolsot Bibimbap," a seemingly identical dish that comes in a hot stone dish for $3 more.  "But I'll get you one anyway", she said, as if to do me a big favor.  I checked the menu and it comes with both versions, in fact  the dish would not have made any sense without it.  A minor thing, but annoying because the server--instead of checking--made me to feel like I was asking for something extra instead of what I had chosen.

My companion ordered the Spicy Seafood dish.  Wandering around in the liquid and mixed in with the food were bits of mussel shell that she continued to unpleasantly encounter.  Towards the end of the meal she informed the server that she couldn't finish her food because of all the shell particles, and asked her to tell the manager.

We both thought that an adjustment was in order, any intelligent establishment would provide a coupon or discount in this situation.

The server returned with the check. No adjustment, no apology, no nothing.  We asked if she'd talked to the manager.  She said  that he said "sometimes this happens with shellfish".  No apology, still.

I said, somewhat loudly, "When your customers are unhappy, you should do something!".  She walked away in silence.

We were dumbfounded.  They allowed us to leave angry, without any apology or incentive to return  The manager never appeared.

We will never be back.  And frankly, this experience motivated me to join Yelp, something I have been meaning to do for a long time.

People need to know before dropping their hard earned $ that this restaurant doesn't give a crap about its patrons.

Just visiting Indianapolis, and so far this is my favorite place!  (Been to like three places so far, to be fair).  Went with a group of friends, my girlfriend and I split the Sushi combo C - Spicy tuna roll and several nigiri rolls, as well as an avocado roll.  It was the perfect amount of food for two people, and we were full, but we still would've appreciated soup and salad like you get at many other sushi places for ordering sushi.

My friend got the infamous playboy roll, which was really awesome in both display and taste (of course I tried some).  Overall I was very pleased by the food.  Apparently the decor of the College street location is better, judging from the reviews, but nothing here was so horrible as to distract.  It isn't super fancy or anything, but for a leisurely dinner with friends, the scene is just fine.

Last note: I think I normally am not a huge fan of nigiri because it is too fishy, but as Drew H. notes, it isn't too fishy here.  Just right.  And the chopsticks, or tchopstix are nice plastic ones, not the wood ones that leave wooden strands in your mouth.

As per the Broad Ripple branch:

I'm not a huge fan of the decor- sort of amateur attempt at hipster Asian, but the food is so great that I could not care less about what it looks like. I've been 4 or 5 times and the service has always been especially friendly and prompt. The wait staff is full of hipsters who are laid back but attentive.
Though I haven't eaten my way through the menu, my family has, and everything's been good so far. I always order the Playboy Roll- spicy tuna, spicy mayo, tempura shrimp and asparagus- then lit on fire. It's so good I can't help but get it every time I go. Having the full bar is great too.

    I completely recommend it.

Usually super trendy Asian places are ones that I tend to dislike. I visited NT on a Friday night on a date. I thought that the busy restaurant might mean great food, good service and a good dining experience. The hostess was hopelessly disorganized, which I was totally willing to over look. Eventually we decided to sit at the bar because we were starving. I watched the Sushi chefs using a LOT of pre-made rolls, which is a big no-no for most sushi fans. The service was awful. I ordered a few pieces of maguro nigiri, which was good but much smaller pieces than normal. I also ordered Miso and an order of steamed pot stickers. The miso was not good, it was way too concentrated, and was like eating a salt lick. The pot stickers tasted rancid, and my date's sushi did not make him happy. I think Naked Tchopstix suffers from the same problem most "chique" sushi places do- they create an image and pull in lots of pseudo hipsters who don't know better, and serve an inferior product. People are paying for the "cool" atmosphere- definitely not the food. Skip this place and find some fresh sushi!

One of my favorite places to go in Broad Ripple.  Since they expanded, has made the restaurant much better.  Food is always delicious, but the bar side atmosphere is a great addition.
Can't beat the Playboy Roll or Crunch Munch.

I visited this location last night.  Now, I really love the one in Broad Ripple and I was prepared to be equally impressed.  Well....I wasn't.

I gave this location three stars because of the food.  As usual it was good, when I finally got it.

This location is basically in a strip mall and when you walk in there is a lot of open space.  It had a warehouse feel for me.  I could ear echos of conversation as I sat at the bar.

Now the bartender was nice but extremely frazzled.  She continued to talk about how "slammed" they had been earlier.  The bar can not be described as "fully stocked"   I overheard a guy at the bar ask for regular Smirnoff and he was informed that they only carry flavored  Smirnoff.  WHAT????!!   There were two taps of the beer that were not working and apparently had not been working since Wednesday.

I ordered miso soup and the lovely lovely playboy roll.  This is my standard at the Broad Ripple location.   Well it took about 30 minutes to get the soup and almost an hour to get the sushi.  Again, WHAT???!!!  The bartender in my opinion forgot to put my order in.

I was just very unimpressed.   Will I go again?  I probably will.

I just hope that my next experience is a lot better.

A very new restaurant that hasn't quite been "discovered" yet. Everything is shiny and new. The decor is similar to their location on College Avenue, but everything is brand new, and a bit more elegant/upscale. Very well thought-out and planned decor.

There is a main dining area, and a large room off to one side for a large party, plus a few small rooms for 6 to 8 people. I think there is a bar area behind the sushi bar, but I forgot to go look.

The wide bench-type seating for many of the tables (but not all) is the same as their College Ave location. This type of seating gives sort of the look/feel of traditional floor seating, and is not out of place, and made me think it's a nice fusion of East/West.

There is more room between tables than the College Ave location.

The sushi chefs behind the sushi bar all looked Asian, with a mostly-Caucasian wait staff, same as College Ave.

I had the chirashi, which is sashimi served over a bed of sushi rice. It was excellent. The other places where I've had this, they pretty much throw the sashimi on top, but here it was crafted into an elegant presentation. The sashimi was noticeably fresh and had a very smooth consistency. The rice was perfectly sticky the way Asian rice is supposed to be, not westernized, for eating with chopsticks.

They were over-staffed in relation to the number of customers. So if you are going to check this place out, go before it gets discovered or before they reduce the staffing to match the level of business. But it's very new, so let's hope word gets out and business picks up.

The menu consists of three cuisines: Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. The menu items seem the same as the College Ave location, but the printed menu is slightly different.

They don't have the breadth of dishes that you would see in a one-cuisine restaurant, but they seem to have the most popular of Japanese and Korean dishes. Chinese dishes seem to get the short shrift though. This restaurant definitely deserves the "pan-Asian" label.

This restaurant really impressed me more than the College Ave location. This is definitely impress-the-boss/wife/inlaws/girlfriend worthy. To be this good so soon after opening leads me to believe that the owners/operators are pros in the restaurant biz.
