Very good NY style pizza. The distinguishing factor for me was the cheese. Not only did it taste awesome, but there is a lot of it. Crust was a little thicker than I would have prefered, but that's the only thing that kept this place from scoring a 5/5 in my book. Service was quick (called in for carryout) and although the employees I dealt with weren't exactly the friendliest I've run into, they were professional and that's good enough for me.

Good pizza - worth the drive cross valley!  A little too much cheese for my taste, but I'll tell them to go lighter next time.   Small pizza fed me & my mom for 2 meals.  We'll be back.

Easily the best NY style pizza in Roanoke. Owners are authentic New Yorkers, and act like it. Pizza will not fail to satisfy.

Just moved here from indianapolis and we are looking for the go to pizza place and this just isn't it.  The people there are friendly but the pizza has no flavor.  Sauce is bland and just not that great.  I do have to say that the sandwiches look good but have not tried them yet.  I really do not think this place is what everyone makes it out to be.

Best pizza in town and consistently good. But do not go there for the atmosphere. My husband is from Queens NY and states this is real NY style pizza.

Great food!!  The Sicilian pizza was awesome! Love the cheese steak hoagie! We order from here often and are never disappointed! If in the area  go try them out!

Best pizza in Roanoke.  It's always packed, so order yours to go and if there isn't a spot in the lot park next door at Burger King.

Best pizza I have had in the entire Roanoke area!  Not the friendliest place ever, but I suspect it's because they are so busy. And why are they busy? Cos they have the best pizza in the Roanoke area!

As good a pie as you're going to find under the Star, and on par with any slice I've ever had in New York. And yes, I've had Lombardi's, Grimaldi's, Totonno's, and about half of the 800 different iterations of Ray's. And I also believe that New Jersey, on the whole, has better pizza than NYC, but that's an argument for another time.

It starts with the crust. Substantial, not too bready, with a good chew. The sauce is perfect, little more than tomato and a few herbs, with none of that cloying sweetness that pizza places seem to believe people want. The amount of cheese is ample, and they use a decent quality cheese that has a good stringiness to it. I have no complaints with the toppings. Yes, as some have pointed out, it can be greasy. That's the price you pay for having plenty of real cheese.

I have few complaints at all with the place. It's not fancy, the decor is simple, and the service is minimal. The concentration is on the food, and it shows. It doesn't pretend to be anything but a family-run pizza joint, and there's a kitschy charm to the inexplicable jungle in the front window and indoor "Roman" fountain. I know Robert Irvine and his "Restaurant Impossible" crew would probably gut the seating area and make it all light and airy with old pizza pans bolted onto the walls for decoration, but they couldn't do a thing to improve upon the food.

The bottom line is, if you're not from here and you're looking for excellent pizza, this is the place. If you are from here and you haven't been here yet, put down the DiGiorno and go get some real pie.

    Eat and be well.

I really wish Yelp allowed half stars, as I'd rather give this place 3 1/2. The food here is good. They always have tasty pizza, albeit quite greasy, delicious pepperoni rolls, and fantastic steak and cheese sandwiches. This pizza is a true New York style pizza that has a thin crust and a ridiculous amount of cheese. They also offer a delicious Sicilian pizza which is square and has a thick crust. The food here is good, but in my opinion some of the items are overpriced. The steak and cheese sub is very good, but for the price it should come with something other than a pickle spear. They don't even serve fries so you can't add a side of them with your sandwich.

The main reason I have to dock this restaurant 1 1/2 stars is because if they're busy at all this place turns into a chaotic scene that makes you question your sanity. There are no waiters, you order and pay at the register, and then bring your own food to your table. Here's the problem. The cash register, the drink fountain, and the place where you pick up your food is all jumbled up together. Have you ever wanted to carry an oversized pizza, fresh from the oven, across and entire packed restaurant, using paper plates as oven mitts? That is, after you've finally heard your number called on a jumbled up loudspeaker that is barely audible over the noise of the hungry crowd. If this sounds like a task you dare devils would enjoy, then I suggest stopping in on a Friday night!

Another thing I don't like is the never ending construction that is going on with the place. I mean never ending as in they've been working on this place for over a decade, yet I haven't a clue what they've done to it, except put a ridiculous, out of place statue of Jesus outside. The parking here is not great at all as the lot just isn't conducive to logical traffic flow.

Wow!  Read a few reviews from fellow Yelpsters and sought the advice of a few locals who swore by this place for pizza.   While the decor is not much (typical no frills pizza joint), the pizza is pretty darn terrific.  My family and I had the Sicilian pie: quality ingredients really are obvious as there was plenty of flavor in the sauce, cheese, and crust.

There is a reason why this place is always packed full of people, and that doesn't even count those just picking their orders up for take-out.

Their pizza is fantastic. We always get a half Sicilian with 6 toppings. We are getting one tonight and I'll take a picture of it for yelpers. Seriously, for $14, it's WAY better than going across the street for Little Ceasars. I'm amazed that people in Vinton still do this. This Sicilian will feed 6 very well, the crust is thick and each piece is huge. That dinky horrible thing at Ceasars you must suppliment with crazy bread, which is usually cold and rock hard. Horrible. Just drop an extra $4.00 and get some GOOD pizza.

Now, they also have subs and other pizzas and cannolis and all that great stuff. All is good. Seriously, those subs could feed 3 or 4 each they are so huge. This is not a fancy place, but all the people here work hard and look like they are enjoying themselves, and it's a really family-friendly place that has great food at great prices. What more could you ask for???

    YUM!

I love this place and so miss it since I've moved away.  Fortunately my family all still lives in Roanoke so when I'm in town, they know I want to eat here.

Their pizzas and calzones are very good but I am a fan of their hot subs.  I typically get the chicken sub with the shredded lettuce, onion and tomato.  It is to die for as far as I'm concerned.  My husband favors their pizza.

It tends to get a little loud and crowded, especially on Friday nights; and kiddie sports teams appear to favor having pizza parties here, but otherwise the food makes up for the noise and annoyance.

They have tvs in the seating area and some arcade games to play.

Service is fairly prompt unless they are very busy, then you might be waiting a while smelling other people's food while you're hungry.

Either way, we never leave hungry or unhappy.

now that i'm making regular trips to roanoke, i'm getting the chance to visit new york pizza more than once every couple of years.

with each trip, with each new item i try, i continue to be astounded at how consistently good their product is.  not to mention how much you get for a relatively small amount of money.

next trip, i intend to make it to the pizza menu.

Good New York style pizza, you know the kind you have to fold to eat (unless your from somewhere other than New York, then you gotta eat it with a fork).  The stromboli is great too.  When I have the chance I pick one up for the wife and kids.

I've eaten here twice now.  And sadly, I have not taken down a large pizza by myself.  I've come nowhere close.  Don't look at me.

Both times, I've gotten the large square special.  The crust on it has been pretty good and it's not soggy with all the toppings.  You can go with the preset toppings on the special or just pick 6 of your own.  Whatever you do, get the fresh garlic.  Tough choice:  make out with someone or eat garlic pizza?  Sadly, I pick garlic pizza every time.  I would also recommend taking the pizza to go...unless you have kids or you don't want to trash your own place.  They also have beer here and do sell it by the pitcher if you want.   I haven't tried any of the slices that would compare to NY slices...but then again, I don't know what the big deal about pizza from NY is.

I would definitely recommend getting a pizza from this place at some point if you live in Roanoke.  One day, I will take down a large on my own.  I need to start training.

This is my second visit and the food didn't disappoint! My girl and her brother have many tales as this is a local favorite. Only had the cheesesteak special sub which both times was hot and filling! Good about making adjustments for allergies too. Pizza looks good to this Va/Tx boy too. Why not a five you ask? I think the nostalgia is what would make the five and I don't have enough of that yet. ;)

Top notch pizza for any of the cities I've visited. The subs are also pretty good, make sure you check the size of the pizza you order (How big is the pie) they have some big pies.

They have an outdoor seating that is pretty nice for a small pizza shop. If you've got little kids there isn't much to occupy them here. They have a few videos games in the side room but not much else. Also, not a bunch of TVs around so if you are looking to watch a game...get it carry out. Good Zaaaaaaaaaa!

Six stars for the pizza by the slice, negative one star for the atmosphere. Don't let that deter you- best slice in Roanoke valley, hands down. The crust is just right, the flavors are close enough to the bona fide New York pies that they live up to their name. Go there.

This place has the best Cheese Steak Special of any place I've been in the United States.  It can't be beat and I am constantly trying new places to see if anyone can beat them.  It hasn't happened yet.
