This is some of the tastiest pizza I've had in a while! When we lived closer, New York Pizzeria was our go-to place for some good pies. Driving home from the gym the other night, I stopped in to pick us up a quick and tasty dinner to reminisce on.
I ordered a large pizza half the long island and half the queens. The long island was a new combo for us, and is probably now my new favorite thing to get on a pizza. It is a white sauce (not the healthiest, but then again when is pizza healthy!?!) with sliced chicken dressed up like chicken parm, roasted red peppers and garlic. The queens pizza had a pesto sauce with artichokes, mushroom, tomatoes, and garlic - it was good, but compared to the long island, it couldn't hold its own.
I also ordered a greek salad, which came with olives (green and black), pepperoni, feta cheese, and tomatoes. The variety of the olives totally made my salad, and I couldn't have asked for it to be made any other way.
Mehhhh. I so wanted this place to be better than the Google reviews but, unfortunately, they were pretty spot on.
Husband, friend and I ordered food (salad, boneless wings + stromboli) from this place to be delivered to the Bull & Bush while they're remodeling. Salads were legit but the boneless wings were merely chicken breasts cut up into cubes with light sauce on them. Definitely not boneless wings. However, our friend's stromboli looked amazing.
So we decided to order a salad + pizza for delivery to our apartment tonight. As the Google reviews warned - it seems like these folks might not be paying the best attention. I had to repeat our order several times on the phone because it seemed like the guy had spaced out. At the end of our order, the guy ended the call without giving us a time estimate - kind of important for hungry stomachs to know.
About 30 minutes after ordering, got a call confirming our apartment # - good thing they called because they had a very wrong apartment # (2XX vs 7XX). 20 minutes later, got a call that they couldn't find our apartment... because they were in the wrong apartment complex.
Our pizza arrived cold... and wrong. We ordered 1/2 Hawaiian, 1/2 pepperoni/jalapeno but instead got 1/2 Hawaiian, 1/2 cheese. Also ordered a salad with no black olives but salad contained black olives.
I really wanted to like this place - they're nearby and so many of you yelpers said the pizza was great. Meh - I think if our pizza had been delivered on time, correctly and HOT, I could agree! It had potential but failed to deliver (pun intended). With a number of pizza places nearby, we probably won't be trying New York Pizzeria again.
