Came here with a friend on a Friday night at 6.  The place was pretty busy already.  We were sad that we literally just missed their happy hour which is from like 2:30-6.  Don't people have work??!  Anyways, we decided to sit at one of the communal tables.

She got a Water Cooler ($8), which is a mint mojito, & I got the same thing but asked for a little bit of pineapple juice to be splashed in it.  It was really good, not too minty and not too strong on the rum.  Since she wasn't hungry, we decided to share an appetizer.  We shared the Blue Collar chips ($9), it's fresh cut and fried potato chips topped with bleu cheese, bacon, green onions and drizzled with balsamic vinegar.  Since I don't care for bleu cheese we asked for it on the side, and we asked for the bacon on the side since she's a vegetarian.  Little did we know that the bleu cheese is actually the sauce..not crumbles of bleu cheese we were thinking of..I did end up putting some bleu cheese on my chips and to my surprise it wasn't stinky, it was pretty mild.  I think the cheese, bacon and balsamic vinegar all worked well.  They gave us a generous portion, but we both felt it probably should've been listed a little cheaper on the menu.

Service was good, drink prices are standard, and the menu names are cute!  I like how they have the covered patio seating as well for those warmer days/nights.  Overall, I think it's a good option for winding down when you need a drink and some tasty bar food to soak up the booze.

I came here for my first time to meet up with a friend for a late dinner. This place was really crowded when I came, but the wait wasn't too bad. However, I had a party of two...

The place seemed like more of a friendly after work get together rather than a place for a family dinner. There was a full bar and tables were all filled. The level of noise was pretty loud, but I was still able to have a decent conversation with my friend.

I ordered the sloppy joe with garlic fries on the side. I loved it! I really wanted to try other stuff on the menu too, but I can only eat one plate. There was a couple next to me who ordered some shrimp dish and pasta dish that looked delicious. I was tempted to try, but it would be weird to ask strangers to try their food.

Their customer service was great. They were polite and was very nice when I asked a bunch of questions. Food came out pretty quick too.

I would definitely come back here if I didn't live so far :(! If I'm ever in the area again I'll definitely come back.

I LOVE THE PATIO AREA!! AND THEIR HIBISCUS MARGARITA!!

However, I hate the fact that they close their kitchen very early and although their drinks are good I feel they're a little pricey, the atmosphere here is great, servers are very friendly

This place is so inconsistent. This was my 3rd time here (Friday July 12th, 6:45PM), most likely my last.

Although service was a bit better (did not take the waiter 25 minutes to bring another round), it still could have been better. I'm super glad that I did not get the same waiter as I've previously had, twice, who was rather inattentive. And actually, it was surprising to still see him working there.

My friend and I came in for cocktails and hors d' oeuvres. Drinks are always exceptional here, when delivered in a timely fashion. I had been looking forward to enjoying their jalapeno poppers, which had been awesome previously. When they arrived, I noticed that there had been a variance in their appearance. Not only were they a bit smaller, they were cold! Had it not been so busy and not been in a rush for a poker tournament, I most certainly would have sought out the manager.

Lastly, to add injury to insult, I had to ask for the check three times. Lame.

Went there last weekend for late lunch with my husband. The food was mediocre but the service sucked. After our food arrived we never saw our server again. When we finished our food we sat there with dirty dishes for about 12 minutes and were completely ignored. Our server looked over at us a few times and never came over. There was another server who looked right over at me as I was looking around for someone to take our plates, saw the empty plates and he kept on moving. Guests should NEVER sit with dirty dishes in front of them for more than a couple of minutes unless the place is super busy which this was not. I went on the website the next day to send a comment...that was Monday and this is Friday. Have I heard anything back...no. You would think someone would respond but I guess they don't care.

I hesitated to write a review for this place for a while.  I really dislike writing three-star reviews.  Either I love the place, or I hate it.  Otherwise, I don't really feel like writing about it.

For a long time, this place for me was a 3.  That was until Ruben was our server.  Wow!  What a difference a good waiter makes.  Ruben checks on us constantly, makes sure our drinks are refilled in a timely manner and brings the bill quickly.

The service (under Ruben) is great, and the atmosphere is terrific.  The kids like it, too.  The only drawback is that the kitchen is slow -- but the food is hot and yummy once we get it.

I have no idea why this place has such poor reviews. This one is JUST for the lunch!

What a great place to go to with your work buddies! We all had shots of Fernet and then ordered a variety of their cocktails from "Sick Days" to "The Intern" and the "New Hot Receptionist". All of them got rave reviews! I personally got "The New Hire" in honor of my new job and thought my drink was perfect.

Highly recommend the tri-tip sandwich. It's a little spicy though with the jalepeno kick but the tri-tip is smokey and delicious.

I got the Shrimp Ya Ya mistakenly thinking it was a pasta. It was about 8 pieces of shrimp in this delicious garlic pesto sauce with 4 small pieces of toast on the side. Not particularly filling unfortunately. But that was my own fault for misreading it.

My coworker's sweet potato fries were delicious! That's about all I tried. We had a group of 12 during the main lunch hour on a Thursday and they fit us in easily! Excellent speedy service, can't wait for round 2. I have no complaints, so while it's not my favorite I wouldn't give it anything less than 5 stars :)

So excited to find that The Office has my new favorite beer on tap: Stiegl grapefruit radler. It's light, refreshing and tastes almost like a mimosa. I guess you could call it a "beermosa"? Either way, I could drink it all day long!

They also serve brunch, which wasn't too bad. There's a respectable menu of pancakes, omelettes and Eggs Benedict, which pairs nicely with a grapefruit beer ;)

As many have mentioned, service is OK, sometimes spotty. But I think they're taking extra efforts to make it better, offering comment cards and checking in regularly. Because it's self-seating, I think the folks working get confused. Also, the demanding Peninsula population tends not to want to wait for their assigned server to come over and take their order, so they flag down the first available person, which can cause confusion on the back end.

That being said, I'd gladly come back to hang on the patio and have some more beer! It's a perfect happy hour spot, good for groups up to 5-6 or even a casual date night.

Came here for brunch on Sunday to eat some food and watch the giants game. Since it was warm we sat outside and waited at a firepit until a table was open. $3 mimosa on Sundays. Service was good and they had a large selection of beers.

The food was decent not great. If you wanted to come for spectacular food this isn't the place. Price wise it was on par with other brunch places. The country fried steak was  was especially a bar chicken tender with some gravy. My wife liked the french toast, said it was pretty good. Not overly sweet. My cousin got the biscuits and gravy. The sausage seemed like the frozen farmer johns type. Eggs were a little overcooked for scrambled eggs.

I think this would be a good spot for drinks or happy hour. They have a bocce ball court as well which you can rent for $15 an hour.

4 stars for the service and 3 for the food, so overall 3.5 stars.

Back again for a burger and fries, one with blue cheese and onion rings.

Beringer cabernet sauvignon...fine house table wine. We were served by Ruben, who provided excellent and attentive service.

Soccer was on the TV, everyone seemed enthusiastic about developments. The place was on a roar.

-1 star for lack of service.
    -1 star for repeatedly ignoring.
-1 star for closing the beer garden at 9 or 10pm on a busy Friday.
-1 star for shutting down over half the menu after 9 or 10pm on a busy Friday.
    +1 star for decor.

Avoid this place if you have an alternate option.

The Office was great.  I had the hibiscus margarita, and it was fabulous. Fun atmosphere with fire pits, and the covered patio. I would definitely go there again to catch a sports event. Only negative was the I thought the burgers were totally gross. Very greasy and lacked flavor. I totally expected better with them being Niman Ranch and all.... Definitely would go with something else on the menu next time.

I mostly head over to The Office around happy hour time and have a few pints from their large selection of draft beers. Some of there interesting takes on food items are simple and tasty. For example the redneck tacos are a delight. This is also a bar atmosphere and during a "Bay Area" game expect for there to be a wait and the restaurant to be busy. When a restaurant is busy expect to wait for food, that is usually what busy means: actively and attentively engaged in work. Now if the service is standing around not helping others around you then complain about a place not giving good service but not being busy. But, remember you walked into the situation knowing it was busy.

The food here is really good!  I also enjoy the ambiance...  It seems like a really good place to go to for sports and drinks...  they have outdoor fire pits and really good drinks!

They always seem pretty full, but can get you in pretty quickly.  I have gone during the week and the weekend, always busy!  There is a small parking lot that seemed full so we parked on the street...  service seemed a little slow to get to you, but the food makes up for it.  Not greasy!  It does tend to get loud and difficult to have a conversation, even when you are outside.

I will be back to get my drink on!

The Office is a restaurant with an identity crisis and for me it ruins the experience.

The new change where there is a host/hostess even for patio seating doesn't really work for us.  With a single or lone couple now locking up an entire fire pit and possibly deuces filling four tops when we have spontaneously come to watch the Giants and hang outside breaks the system when we are told that it is a 30 minute wait with really no where to sit and wait for a table/space.

The food has always been good enough, though I miss the frank burger, but some of the beers of late have seemed a bit stale or poorly carbonated.

While I expect the greeting/staging process to get better it was bad enough that we simply left rather than wait and I have really no intent to go back now with all the other options around.

I love the office. Their edamame is Bomb. I've ordered 4 just for myself once. I've had the skirt steak and few others and just recently had the Shrimp Ya Ya. It was delicious however was a really small portion for a girl who can eat! The staff is really nice however they are understaffed some nights. I would really like to see more waitresses so they can get people in and out fast.
Other than the slow service, this place is amazing and delicious. Nice for date night and watching the game, but if your expecting a quiet place to have a nice convo, expect to be yelling.

Second time coming here...first time was a quick drink with a friend during the work week...served its purpose. Second time was for a friend's bday this last weekend. So the outdoor seating area was cool...had a bunch of fire pits to hang around.. the crowd is pretty laid back. But for a Saturday I felt a lil rushed cuz they were already closing up and pushing people out @ 12:30 when the sign says they close at 1AM...I shouldn't really be talking cuz my friend's and I have done this were we closed up the bar early but it was a slow nite. There was still a crowd of people both inside and outside. They shut off the pits and the TV's outside and started cleaning up. I guess if you want to drink come early.

My experience was great when I came here when the restaurant wasn't so busy. Then, I came here when it was packed. That experience wasn't so great.
So, we had a half an hour wait which wasn't bad and my party of three decided to grab a beer and wait. Big muscly bartender man who think's he's God's gift to the world comes up and mocks us for having our ID's ready.. Isn't that what you do when you walk up to a bar, anyways?
Takes a look at my ID and tosses it back to me even as I extended my hand out to grab it. Well, no tip for him.
We order our drinks and move along to our table. Food was okay.. Nothing special about this place really. Waitress was nice but looked at us as if we were taking too long to make up our minds on our drinks.
Overall, if it's packed it's not worth my time. I'd rather go to Whisper's for a good happy hour and WAY better food!

I've been here a few times meeting friends and just with the bf.  It's a great place to have a couple cocktails or beer over appetizers in a casual environment.  It's quite crowded in here most of the time and can be hard to hear if you're having a conversation.  They have some nice fire pits for big groups when it gets colder in the evenings.

The food is typical American cuisine- burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches...  I've had a little bit of everything which is all good and very satisfying.  I do, however, have to comment on the exceptional  jalapeño poppers.  They are not shrouded in the deep fry making them minimal in taste to the cheese inside like most.  You taste mostly  jalapeño and the cheese inside. (See photo)  This is how it's done.  This is most definitely a favorite of mine, the best I've tasted and will be ordered every time I come.

The service has always been good here too.  People are friendly, but when it's crowded things can take a little longer than expected.  It won't matter much if you're too busy having fun though.

Three stars. Reduced to two because the roof covering the patio might fall over into the street in an earthquake. I couldn't see any lateral force resisting elements at the end where we sat.

Service was horrible! I had to order my drink from Dave FOUR times. After each of the first three times, he would come back and ask what was it you ordered (same for my friend - only twice for him). A half hour later when our drinks finally arrived, they were the wrong drinks!

This was just the start. He said he would bring menus - had to ask for them twice. Asked for plates for our appetizer platter - the food was almost finished by the time he brought us plates.

My martini had many big chunks if ice floating in it - making it look larger than it really was. The food was just barely passable.

No reason to go here again!

I've been to this place for drinks in the past, but would probably never have eaten here.
Last weekend my MIL invited us & the GIL for brunch here. She likes the food, and had a coupon for breakfast.

Getting a table was easy, but getting food seemed to take a bit longer than it should have. I also had to ask for water refills about 3 times, which i always find annoying.

I had the avocado, cheese, and bacon omelet. I asked them to go light on the cheese, (which i don't think they did, i ended up pulling a bit of it off) but they did get my bacon really crispy as i requested. It came with toast, which was totally not toasted, (skipped it) and potatoes, which had pretty good flavor, but i only ate a few of those as well.
I had a bite of my MIL's corncake-pulled-pork tacos, they were the best dish at the table.

The hubby's jalapeno sausage breakfast burrito was fine, but not spicy at all. I have a pretty low spice tolerance for that kind of spice, and I never would have known it had jalapeno in it. We both agreed our healthy breakfast burritos we make are better.

They had some interesting sounding drinks, but since i hadn't been to the gym yet, I wasn't drinking. (I almost never drink during the day.)

I would come back for drinks, or if the MIL invites us to join her again.Otherwise, no reason for a return trip for me. At least not one involving food.

I've been here before but since they opened their german beer garden, me and my friends have been here a lot more (almost once a week at one point, not so good now that I think about it).

They have a very big selection of drinks and beers, and the fact that I can now get a steigel pils here is a huge bonus.

Service is very good and quick and the people are very nice. It's not uncommon to see the manager walking around and talking to people. Basically it feels very nice and relaxing.

The outdoor seating area is quite big but if you want a fire pit you better get here early, especially during the colder part of the year.

They serve good burgers (but you can do better, see godfathers or jacks prime) and they have a great number of really tasty appetizers. And to be honest, I'd rather go for a bunch of those than only one entree.

In particular I like their jalapeño cheese poppers and the skewers, but there is more (chili, fries, nachos and lots more).
The best day to end an office day isn't go to the office for a steigel and appetizers together with friends and coworkers.

Below average on service, food and drinks. Nice set up, but that is all they have to recommend them. Both times I have been here the experience was the same. It was a year between visits, because I was so unimpressed the first time. Both visits were due to coworkers organizing an outing; from now on I will take a pass.

Great local spot! All of the bartenders are terrific, super friendly, and create a really great environment for everyone that goes there. Joel, Justin, and Romane are always super friendly and remember me when I come in.

The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that it is very hit or miss with the food. Everything else is super legit.. It is a great location, very convenient, and is a very sizeable space. It is awesome to just sit out by the firepit and enjoy a beer with friends.

If the food was more consistent, it would be 5 stars absolutely! Great neighborhood spot and I dont really come for the food anyways, so definitely a must-visit for a drink and good company!

This place NEVER disappoints. The food is always done perfectly, the servers are always friendly, and it is great for the whole family. It never surprises me that the place is so busy, because everyone loves it!

I come here all the time and this will be my go-to bar/restaurant for a very long time.

Oh, and DEFINITELY try the "Jiffy Burger"... It's amazing

My coworkers always insist to come here, they love the burgers but since I'm not a burger person, I cannot comment on that. But I do like their Cobb salad and you do get a good sized meal. Their appetizer selections are good, and their jalapeño poppers are pretty bomb. The seating outside with the fire-pits is what helped gain this place an extra star on my review.

    ****edit****
Was just contacted by one of the owners and I have to say I was impressed enough to edit my review. You can tell his genuine concern about wanting to deliver good service and hey, maybe I just got stuck with the wrong waitresses. Like I stated my coworkers love their burgers and I really enjoyed my salad so it isn't their food. Too bad a couple of bad waitresses can affect the place. But give it a try and see for yourself. I will be back because, like I said, my coworkers like it here.

The burgers and fries were good and the location is easy to get to. It's too bad they don't have the same German beer taps inside the restaurant, but they will get you a tasty German beer from an outside tap if you ask. I guess you have to be in the know. It's good to know there is another good alternative for German tap beer.

Our waitress was friendly, but she was absent after dropping off our food. We had a large group and everyone's beer pretty much ran dry and we were all looking to get more drinks. They probably missed out on selling 10 more pints and left us feeling not great about the service.

I am glad I went and checked it out.
They have really nice cocktails .. and loved their food too (tried garlic pesto pasta at lunch time).. They have a good selection of both vegetarian and non -vegaratian options..

Who knew such a gem existed in my own backyard? Well...somewhat in my backyard =).

My boyfriend had been here a few times and I always loved the name, but never had a chance to check it out. Then last week I finally had my chance and stopped by with a couple of friends. They have fire pits on their front patio, which was perfect for the chilly night. One word of caution here though: they serve their beer in plastic cups, which WILL melt if you leave it too close to the fire. Make sure to put it as far away from the fire as possible or on the floor.

The place is spacious and there is lots of room indoors as well. We had dinner beforehand so I only got a chance to try their mac and cheese but that was delicious - complete with truffle oil. Yum!

Prices are average and I would definitely come back!! I enjoyed the service that we received as well.

    Ok, nothing special...free wifi though.

Service was good, standard beers were actually average priced $5, but the premium beers were over $10-12?!  OMG.

Ordered a $10 portabello mushroom burger which was thin and somehow came out tasteless, overcooked and greasy?!

Good amount of big LCD screens and plenty of seating still during a Sunday Niners game.

Probably won't be back for a while.

I was all ready to write a downgrade review of The Office, based on terrible service we experienced a few months ago.  Also, it turns out the main menu here is...well...Boring; I can only eat so many burgers and redneck tacos... I'm burned out on both.

But then The Office went ahead and made some big changes:

-- They serve breakfast now, and the menu is quite good - way better than the lunch or dinner menu; Plus they have killer bloody marys! (I'd like to see you get a bloody mary at Stacks, or any other breakfast spot close by)

-- They've opened a new back bar, with 16 new taps of tasty microbrews!  Now the office has become a "real" beer destination!! (The new beer garden design leads me to believe they are trying to compete with a *certain* German-themed bar several blocks to the south).

In short, I can no longer recommend The Office for lunch or dinner, but to grab some breakfast in the morning, or some good beer in the later hours, you could do much worse.

Update: A couple months ago one of the owners was kind enough to message me and offer his sincere apologies for my experience and to let me know they had some new management and had been actively working to improve their service. That means a lot in my book, and I'm looking forward to going back and getting a grilled cheese.

I used to come here pretty often with my boyfriend, We love the burgers and grilled cheese. (Though everything is a touch expensive, including the beer.) Unfortunately the service there has just gotten worse and worse. Maybe we just got the one shift with all the worst servers, but I was shocked.

We had taken a seat at one of the long tables on a Saturday afternoon. The place wasn't busy by any means. Couple of groups outside, a few people at the bar. But we sat there just trying to get someones attention for at least 20 minutes!

No one came by, no one gave us menus, no one would even make eye contact with us. Two servers chatted with each other near the bar, and one server could be seen helping some ladies outside by a fire pit and then dashing by us, again not even checking in to make sure we had been helped. At one point my boyfriend made a point of getting up, going to a register and getting two menus. No one noticed or cared.

After 20+ minutes of sitting there, we called it and left, again unrecognized or acknowledged... and took our business over to Pudley's. Won't be visiting, nor recommending this place again.

This place is cool for HH. It has some decent prices and the service is fairly quick. It can be chaotic during a game time. I went there to watch the Giants win the world series and although the service was great, I found the prices to be a bit ridiculous. $7 for a well drink.. The bathroom lines are horrible, especially for the woman. there are porter potty's around the corner if you like.

Again the food wasn't bad, the service was pretty quick but the prices need to come down a bit. the owner said they are staying competitive with other business, I don't see how with those prices. The edamames were $7 bucks ( a little crazy dont you think). But I would def recommend for HH times which is Monday thru Friday from 3:30-6:30.

Cool place. It's been a while since I've been to the US, so coming here was pretty much amazing... food seems really expensive, but that's not why you come here. It's a cheap buzz--sure they got specialty cocktails and microbrews, but if you want a cheap buzz in San Carlos, you come here. $2 for a pint of PBR, plus pitchers at a good price? And for those of us not in college (or high school with a fake ID), you can get New Castle (my favorite) and other more "sophisticated" beers on tap for $5 a pint. Pretty decent... now only if they would serve a full glass of beer (to the brim) instead of the foamy head-filled pour you get in Japan... they'd be getting that elusive 5th star.

All in all, go here to watch a sports game on one of the many big screen TVs, get drunk, and pay for an overpriced sandwich when you're too buzzed to care about the price. I will be back, I'm sure.

I'm not sure why I continue to come here must be the lack of late night drink options on the peninsula. Funny that it's main attraction is the bar but no matter what day you go the bartending service is terrible. It takes an eternity to get a drink and even when you order it they forget and come back 5 min later " Oh, did you need a drink?"  what do they think I am there for??

They need better service behind the bar and drinks for sure not worth the $9-$10 way over priced. I always say not going back and don't for a while then I get dragged to go but then I am quickly reminded of why I dislike this place.

Been here several times, once for breakfast and the remaining times were in the evening.

Great place to gather with friends and watch popular sports airing inside and outside. If you can snag a seat next to the fire pit, do it! Before 8 pm there can be a lot of children present, so if you are easily irritated by them, I would avoid going until they are all safely tucked in bed. ;)

If you are a breakfast food aficionado you might want to try somewhere else, but the lunch and dinner menu is great!

Service the first few times was less than what I expected, but the very last time I visited the service was great! I don't want to say it's hit or miss with the staff, but it seems to be.

I will be back and prepared for the waitstaff this time! heh heh heh
