I'm not sure where to start with this place. Should I start with the overflowing trash in the bathroom? Or the fact that said bathroom seemed as if it hadn't been cleaned in weeks? I forced my daughter to wash her hands twice before we left.

Or should I start with the congealed, lukewarm enchiladas? Or how about the fact that I was charged ninety-nine cents for an ounce of sour cream. Honestly, charging for a side of sour cream at a mexican restaurant is like charging to use ketchup at a burger joint.

Our server was a sweetheart, which is why I felt so bad that she was forced to work at a location that seems to have such an obvious lack of care for quality or cleanliness. I'd suggest sticking to any of the other local mexican joints. Jack In The Box would be a better choice than this location.

I dont understand how this chain is doing well. I would rather go to taco bell then on the border. I had very bland food, there are too many good mexican places in Indy to even consider going here again

Love it.  But keep in mind it isn't true Mexican food.  Oh wait, neither is the place in town owned by a Mexican family.  We're in the US and we don't get real Mexican food!  But it sure is yummy.

This is a typical Mexican chain restaurant.  The menu has a little bit of everything, fresh chips and salsa while you wait, and margaritas of every size and flavor.

It's like Chi-Chi's used to be, only better.  Love the food quality.  The Big Borderitto is my favorite, fajitas are great and occasionally they have AYCE enchiladas.

The chips are always fresh and I really like the salsa flavor - available regular or hot.  The best part is that they usually bring a separate bowl of salsa for everyone at the table.  Repeat after me:  DOUBLE DIPPING!!!

Service is good, only problem is the wait time often exceeds 30-45 minutes at peak hours.  Get there a bit early or a bit late and seating is rarely a problem. Even for large groups (nice group seating up to 10 or so)

Love this place! OTB!! Great food and a lot of it! Portions are huge! Also have good beer specials. I usually get the pick two. Can't beat a dinner for under 10.00 with a beer!

I've been here more than a couple of times because my mom is addicted to their chips and salsa...

Service - Every server I've had has been great. The only thing is that they do sometimes have to be reminded to fill up the chips, but as soon as you let them now they bring them out pretty fast.

Atmosphere - It's nice, I guess. It's a chain so it just looks like they tried a little too hard to be "MEXICAN!" with the clay pots on the wall and the mural in the back. It can get loud when busy, and sometimes the floors look a little messy, but nothing too bad.

Food - I'll do this by the dishes I've had. :D

Chips & Salsa: Mmmmm, so good. They bring them out warm and crispy. Sometimes you get a chip that's overly salty, but I just brush the salt off and eat it. The salsa is not chunky (just how I like it) and deliciously spicy. You can get a big bag of chips and salsa to go anytime for like $3.

Taco Melts (Chicken): OH MY GOD. The chicken is in this insanely delicious queso sauce & then topped with even more cheese. It's greasy in a good way. They serve it with either soft flour tortillas or crispy shells. The shells are not like usual hard taco shells, they seem more light if that makes sense.

Chicken & Cheese Empanadas: I've gotten this with the create-your-own-combo before. They're just okay. The crust is pretty good and flaky, but it's just dripping in grease.

Chicken Flauta: These were super lame the two times I got them. They are really dry and about the width of a tube of chapstick. The ends were burnt both times too.

Class Burrito (Chicken, of course): This is what I get almost every time I go. The chicken is sooo tender and has this spicy flavor to it that is amazing. I always get the queso on top and it's tasty.

Refried Beans & Rice: Your choice of refried beans or black beans comes with almost every meal, I think. The refried beans are pretty good, not anything special but they do the job. The rice has some corn and peppers in it and is pretty good.

It's not "authentic" by any means, but you definitely could do worse.

A pretty good (and more "authentic" than most, in my opinion) Mexican place in Greenwood!  This chain originated in Dallas, so to me, you generally get a little closer to "the real thing" than what you usually get in Indiana, but it's not as good as the Mexican food in Texas.  I do like that you can opt for yellow or white queso, and they have some nice combination deals.  The chips are better than any other Indiana Mexican place I can think of, and the salsa is pretty good too, if you can stand a little spice and cilantro.  Their tortilla soup is pretty tasty and quite filling, but has way more rice in it than I would ever want.  Speaking of rice, I'm not a fan of fried rice at other places, but enjoy the rice here well enough to eat at least half of it with my meal.  The service can be a little spotty sometimes, but I've never had a terrible meal here, so I think it's a good, solid place to go if you want nice Mexican food.  As of last week, the sign on their door says they have free Wi-Fi!

Fantastic service and their street style tacos were spot on with the added bonus of knowing you were eating beef not some mystery meat at a roadside stand in Mexico.

Ate there last week because we wanted to sit outside on the patio.  The service was absolutely awful!  The waiter kept forgetting to bring things to not only us but the tables around us as well.  I had nachos.  The chips were soggy and the "fajita" meat tasted like rubbery pot roast.

Tasty carnitas... some of the best I have found around Indy! And I really like their giant beers. :) Went here on a Sunday evening for dinner with my husband. Nothing mind-blowing, but good Mexican food, decent atmosphere and no complaints about the service.

This is a great place to go for mexican food and magarita's. The food is great -my personal favorite are the steak fajitas! The margaritas are good enough to sing about!! Best part is the pricing is 1st-date reasonable!
I am not usually a fan of the 'chain' mexican restaurants but this place does a lot of things right!

Not a fan..  Service was slow and the food was palatable but nothing to make me jump up and wanna use my maracas..
Pricing was reasonable.. the atmosphere was pleasant.. just sort of a lackluster experience.
Sticking with El Meson in the future.

Wasn't all that impressed the two times I have gone.  I try to make it a habit to go back to a place if the service was poor, because we all have bad days and maybe that was the case.  In my humble opinion a bad day was not the case, the service was just bad.

Both times we waited over 20 minutes to be seated in off peak times when they were not busy, when I can see many open tables and I am still waiting then there is an issue.  No communication from hostess as to why the wait was taking so long.  The wait staff acted like they could careless to have my business.  Both times our orders were messed up, neither time was a manager made available.

The food was the only saving grace to this place, but it was nothing to make me feel like coming back and giving them a third chance.

I love this place!  My original favorite OTB restaurant is right in Indianapolis.  Great service, excellent food, great location.

The chips and salsa are definitely my favorite thing and I love the chicken fajitas.  My husband loves the border chimichanga with beef.

You can expect to wait for a table at this restaurant on a Friday or Saturday night.  But it is definitely worth the wait!

New restaurant that opened not too long ago near the Greenwood Park Mall. We have already visted quite a few times and already this restaurant has become one of our favorites. The margaritas are great, not watered down and not too strong...they must use top quality smooth tequila because it always seems to go down well. Besides the drinks, the food is also amazing. For some reason I really like the tortillas that come with the burritos and fajitas...they taste so fresh! And great service to boot! Great addition to the ever growing southside!
