Gotta love OTB. Great food, while not 100% authentic, is awesome nevertheless. Service us always great and they retain quality employees. Seems like the same people have been working there for years which says something. Drink selection is great and the atmosphere is awesome. One of my favorite places.

Alright, so what it's a chain restaurant? This place is still one of my favorite Mexican places around the area. The guacamole dish is freshly prepared in front of you and the gigantic burritos are a feat to finish by yourself and it's packed of flavor.

It may not be the most authentic place, but it's party-friendly.

Taco Bell, just more expensive. And they serve margaritas!

Good local Mexican for a chain. We go because my boys love Mexican. I don't go much for spicy but can always count on a decent grilled chicken. Boys love the cheesy fondue and fresh fajitas. And they make a decent margharita.

It can get pretty crowded so go early if you're going. Service is always pleasant.

The taco salad was great, the chips were hot and fresh & the salsa was awesome. The margaritas were huge and the server was fast and nice. Much better than Mama Iguanas which is up the street.

I try not to wax poetic about chain Mexican places, but On the Border is as efficiently run a mid-priced restaurant as I've ever seen. The manager was on the floor, the waitstaff was attentive, and the food came out exactly when it should've.

On the note of food, the plate of carnitas and chicken fajitas were tasty and the tortillas were warm and soft.

West Springfield isn't a culinary mecca by any means, but On the Border will give you some good food quickly and for a good price.

Service is good. Food is average. Everything had the usual expected chain restaurant feel and flavor to it. A plus is they actually have some good local beers on draft and not just Mexican pisswater. Make sure you ask what the selection is that day as they don't list the good beers on the menu.

Decent Food - We were seated 4 table away from the door - and seated by the windows - It was freezing!  The windows are not insulated and every time the front doors were open the cold air whipped in.  Not very easy to see from the road.

Always enjoy coming here, we have never had any bad service, even if we come just to munch on the free chips and salsa with our drinks. Highly recommend the Acapulco Punch!

Very average mexican food even for Western Mass... servers are nice but they cannot overcome the food to earn more than 3 stars... watch out for ground beef tacos, very very greesy.

This place was solid for me.  Although the ambience is whatever.  The location (per my GPS) was difficult to find and located in a so-so area of Springfield.  Getting past that, the restaurant itself was decent.  The service is average, while the food was pretty good.  I got the quesadilla and  the
Citrus Chipotle Chicken Salad.  The salad was cool with the exception of the shredded chicken.  The flavor and texture were off.  The quesadilla was excellent though.  Came with sour cream, pica de gallo and guacamole.  Normally at other places, you'd have to pay extra for the guacamole, so I can definitely say I appreciate it.

SN: my GF who was with me at the time ordered the Border Sampler.  Word of caution - it's way too much for one person!

I'd definitely suggest coming here with some friends.  Again, the food was real good.

I'd say that I would come back, but I've already done that in less than 48 hours.

The Street Style Mini Tacos are great and the Brisket Tacos are really good. Good atmosphere sometimes a bit loud but overall a good place to get together with friends and family!

Terrible experience at OTB tonight.  Waited for an hour and a half and no food!  Waitress and manager both explained that the dishwasher was broken and dishes had to be handwashed.  We were very patient, but when at least three tables who came in after us were served their meals before us, it was time to leave.  One couple came in at least 15 minutes after our table and had already finished their dinners.  We told the manager that we were leaving, to which she said "they're plating your food now".  Since she wasn't in the kitchen, I don't know how she knew this.  Since the issue was a lack of clean plates, why did those other tables get plates before us?  Just very poorly handled.  We left and won't be going back soon.

Kinda ok.  It's like pre made frozen food.  Not that fresh.

Margaritas are the best I've had anywhere around here.  Unfortunately, the food is so inconsistent, I can't rate higher than 3 stars.  The chips/dip that starts the meal are always great, which tells you all you need to know about it.

Go here to get loaded on the 'ritas.  Flip a coin on the food.

I enjoy myself here.  The food is consistent in terms of quality, drinks here are nice!

There are lots of other mexican places I'll go to for dinner, but this place is a great location for meeting friends for drinks and appetizers or sharing some food.  The atmosphere is great for having a good time.

Definitely not "authentic" Mexican but makes a nice bridge between Taco Bell and a real Mexican place.  I liked  the complimentary salsa quite a bit and the chips were not overwhelmingly salty (unlike their corporate sister restaurant Chili's).  My enchiladas seemed a bit off but it could be because I had cold.  My husband raved about his burrito.  A place I would try again.

The best chain restaurant I've ever been to, hands down.  Excellent, flavorful food, delicious fresh chips & salsa, flawless and friendly waitstaff who have worked there long enough to recognize regular customers (which is kind of nice sometimes).  This is one of our favorite restaurants, and that's taking into account all of the "authentic" mexican restaurants up and down the valley.  OTB is reasonably priced, has a huge variety of choices, and the food is consistently served hot and very flavorful.  We know what to expect every time we come here and that is a good thing!

Since getting "authentic" Mexican is pretty hard to come by in New England, On the Border is a great runner-up.  Call ahead seating is a must on a weekend with lines routinely out the door.

We've gone a few times on the way up and back to Vermont.  Each time, we've been impressed with the service (refills on water without asking, etc).  But even better, the food is good. Not gourmet good, but the kind that makes you go - I'd definitely come back here again.

Why? Good portions.  Guacamole was nice and fresh. The bottomless fresh (and warm!) chips don't hurt either. Tasty margaritas. Good kids menus. And they don't skimp on the spice -- the salsa has definitely got a kick to it!

Yep - everything you could ask for in a Mexican place -- minus the authenticity, but at prices and food this good, I don't really care.

Overall my experience was pretty disappointing.

Food was very greasy without much flavor... most of it was soggy as well.  I ended up not even bringing home leftovers, since I didn't think there was any way to salvage them.

Perhaps they were just having an "off" day in the kitchen, but it'll be a while before I have the stomach to try going back.

OTB is my favorite Mexican restaurant.  The salsa is great and the food overall is great.  We usually end up getting either the Big Bordorito which is one giant burrito cut in half to make two normal sized burritos.  My partner and a friend of ours gets the empanadas a lot as well.  And of course the tacos are fantastic with homemade shells.  The only thing I've gotten at OTB that I didn't care for was the quesadillas.  I'd probably have to try them again before saying that they aren't worth getting - maybe they were just having an off night.  Do call ahead because the place in Springfield gets crazy!

Phenomenal eats, great atmosphere - not too corny like some other mexican places. Chips and salsa come to your table before you order, and the salsa's got a nice kick to it, but not too spicy. Fresh salty chips are light and crunchy. I got the steak fajita (lunch size - perfect portion!) and it was absolutely delicious. Comes with onions and green & red peppers all sauteed perfectly, as well as all the fixins. Didn't try the margaritas, but the drink menu looked great. Would definitely come here again, especially to try the "Taco Melt".

This is a busy place but once you taste their food, you'll know why. Show up at 4:30 PM for dinner and you won't have to wait, but you can also "call ahead"  for seating.  There's no wait if there's room at the tables by the bar. You get warm chips and yummy spicy salsa before you place your order. The frozen margaritas are the best in this area, with many flavors to choose from.
The decor is festive, the atmosphere is happy, children are welcome and there's a child's menu available. Best of all. their prices won't  bust your piggy bank.  Many combo meals available for under $10. I highly recommend the carne asada and chicken enchilladas.YUM! This is my favorite restaurant in Western, MA.

Was overnight for business in the area and wandered over to the "Border".  Wow the place was hopin!  I almost kept going since I didnt think there would be a place to sit.  When I got in and ate I knew why it was so busy.  Definite must stop in if youre in the Springfield area

    This place sucks!

everytime i get something here, they f*** it up
I've learned never get anything with chicken in it or you're going to get a blackened piece of charcoal

the waitstaff is average, most of them have an attitude

the only thing good about this place is it's chips and salsa

Great Mexican food done right! Think Applebee's gone Mexican and toss in a little bit of your local bar and you've got On The Boarder. Pretty much everything on the menu is great, but be weary - the bottomless chips and salsa will fill you up quick.
As with most restaurants of this style, they tend to get busy during prime time. However, their lunch specials are an excellent value, so don't shy away from eating a little earlier.

I know, I know...it's a chain. Though contrary to what I usually say about chain places, I do like this one. Thank god it's not closer to where we live, I'd probably go broke on the Margaritas here. They come in a number of different versions and most of them are all very good. You see, their strategy is they suck you in with the warm, homemade tortilla chips with fresh salsa. Then the salt from the chips and the heat from the salsa makes you want to quench your thirst so your drink more margaritas until finally, you throw a dart at the menu to order your food and bingo, you dinner is a winner!
My personal favorite is the Ranchiladas. Skirt steak done just right with a side of beans and rice. If you can get in, try for a seat on the porch in the summer. We sat out there one night when a storm was blowing in. It was a very cool experience.
