What a crappy, trashy, and dirty place!
Zero stars is what I would like to give it. Â
The bouncers are totally overzealous and they harass people. This bouncer came up to my son and started yelling at him like he was trying to fight him for no apparent reason. (Short bold man syndrome mostly likely.) The bar was empty on a Saturday night! Go to downtown Danville or another bar it's not worth dealing with assholes.
The worst Sports Bar in northern California. Bad drinks, bad music, empty. No one was there on a Saturday night and the service was so bad my wife's birthday was absolutely ruined. After meeting up with friends we all decided to give this small sports bar in San Ramon a try. The place didn't look good from the outside and was worse on the inside but we were with friends so we said why not. We ordered drinks and the drinks were quite bad. Even though the place was empty it took forever before they would return with the drinks we ordered. We tried to carry on and have a good time. The DJ did not transition well between songs and none of the music went together. Still, we were there to celebrate a birthday. Nothing could get us down..or at least I thought.
Just when I thought things could not get any worse I received word that my sister in law was being denied admittance into their sparsely populated club. I went outside to find my wife frustrated to tears. The door man said that my sister in law  did not look like the picture on her driver's license. I asked the door man what more would she need and he said additional identification. She returned with a bank card with her photo on it and her work ID card that also had her photo on it and with 3 cards all with her name and photo, her brother and law and her sister there to confirm her identity still the doorman would not let her in. He simply would not listen to reason.
I asked to talk to the manager who told me to talk to the doorman. The doorman rudely told me to talk to the manager. We got the run around even though they were standing right next to each other.
To make an already long story a bit shorter this was an awful bar from the start with bad service, bad music and unattractive patrons. The blind doorman made what was supposed to be a fun night out on my wife's birthday an absolute disaster.
I would give Outpost 0 stars if I could.
What a crappy place! Â Too bad zero stars is not an option here. Â I thought it looked like a hick bar when I looked at the pictures online, and I could not have been more right when I arrived. Â The bouncers are totally overzealous (I saw them harassing these folks at the door and not letting them in for like 20 minutes), and then I get inside and the place was empty on a Saturday night!
I would have done better to stay home and pour my own drinks than waste my money and time in this dive. Â All the potholes in the parking lot should have been a sign that this place sucked. Â Next time I'll go to Club Shboom in San Ramon instead. Â They may charge a cover, but at least the place is classy, their food is good, and they know how to treat their customers.
We've been here a few times. The staff, bouncers and bartenders are polite. We witness a cat fight for no reason. What do you expect it's free to get in! The waitress walk around selling mixed drinks for a good price and they taste good if you like sweet drinks. They need to play more dance music! Â When the night was over we stayed and ate there and the service was great!
Review Source:I came here on a Sat. night.
I think that this bar would be pretty chill during the weekdays since there is plenty of space to sit and talk. Â Its' a different story on the weekends though, some of the men are creepy to the point that I cannot handle it. Â I usually have a high tolerance for creepers, but this guy started massaging my friends foot.
That's just gross, who in their right mind massages someone's foot, especially when they just met? UGH.
The music they played was very mostly top - 40s, I don't think I would come again unless it was during the weekdays.
This place is nothing really like the first time I came here that's why I'm only giving this place one star because from the 5 times I been here I only enjoyed my time once and only cause I meet my friend Kathy here the first time I came, it's been a sad experience ever sense.  The drinks are way over priced and have barely any alcohol in them.  Last time I was here was about a week ago, me and my friends decided to do a boys night out, have some drinks, talk to some girls.  I was the designated driver for that night so I didn't order any alcohol but my friend did, I see the bartender pour the Jack and Coke my friend ordered and it looked like it didn't even have one shot of liquor in it, i was like hey bro I don't think she put any Jack in there.  Being the designated driver I ordered a virgin Bloody Mary and told the bar tender not to put a lot of ice just a little cause it dilutes the juice.  I get my Bloody Mary and she says $5, I was like what you know this is just tomato juice? she said yes $5, I never paid more than $3 for the drink and even a restaurants don't charge more than $4.  I didn't feel like arguing with her sense its a  couple of extra dollars is not a big deal, the big deal was when I looked at my drink it was ALL ICE to the top, I don't know if Yelp allows you to call people names but the dumb lets say bartender couldn't even get my drink right and still over charged me, UGH that was about the time we decided to go, plus the whole place was almost empty on a Saturday night and had only about one cute girl so there wasn't even a point in staying, over all not a place I would recommend for a good time.
PS: Outpost I want my $5 back sense you couldn't even get the drink right.
To each their own. Not really my kind of place. The clientele was a bit sketchy and depressing. The food was not great, but I wasn't expecting it to be. Drinks were no better. Smelled like smoke.
If you want a large space that is not pretentious at all, then this is a great place for you. Personally I prefer good food and good atmosphere which I did not feel this place offered me.
Went a few weeks ago with friends. Â Well lets see -- its a bar. Â We got some food and it was good.
Best part was the great service. Â Our server, Krissi, kept our beers full and was just very pleasant. Â For me, that really important. Â Food can be mediocre but as long as I got a full beer, I have no problems.
Will go back when I get a chance.
Came here for Taco Tuesdays often with girlfriends.
However, once my life was threatened by some drunk asshole -- who initially hit on me -- I decided never to return.
(Thankfully, they have amazing security).
Although the OP isn't my scene, it certainly doesn't mean anyone else can't have a good time.
Check them out if:
-You like Beer Pong.
-You like to dance.
-You like good, stiff drinks.
-You like patio seating.
-You like drunk douchebags (they definitely beat the WC Brahs for sure).
Happy Boozing!
Came here for an "after work" employee send off. Â Thanks for the nice time Rebekah!
+ Booze Plentiful  (oh god, much too plentiful!)
+ Bar food good! Â Me Like! Â (Have you hangover pre-remedy here while you get drunk!)
+ HDTV's? Â Check! Â Loud enough hear when you want, quiet enough to ignore when you didn't.
+ Beer and Booze goggles? Â Check! Â (But the barmaids are still cute in the daytime too)
+ Decent bathroom (except that left hand men's sink could use some work!)
+ Good group picture machine to prove you weren't all THAT drunk the next day. (or maybe you were!)
+ Safe and fun time when you're hammered!
Easy parking in a fairly large lot. Â (It looks a LOT larger after 10 shot and 4 beers)
Al in all, I would be happy to get drunk here again. Â Much less drunk.
This place is lame. Â I went here with a women's soccer team full of hot women. Â It was a birthday event and the bartender wouldn't serve the ladies because, "I'm not sure if you all will pay your tab at the end." Then he served me and the other guy in the group. Â I've never seen a bartender do that. Â He must not want to make any money.
Review Source:Been coming here the past two years... i was introduced by my fiance as he has friends who frequent the place. Â sometimes we start the night here...sometimes it ends here. Â if we start it at the OP, sometimes it takes a bit to get the dance floor going...but once it's off, it's awesome. Â always hinged on a good DJ, which usually they have good ones!
every time we come in, the  bartender is always friendly and make GOOD drinks promptly.  Jame-o and coke sounds easy to make but not everyone knows how to make one I've found out...thankfully, these folks do.  Delicious!  we've tried SO many different shots here...a sunkist shot is my new fav!  bar in the back is usually empty and i walk right up, score.
been here a couple football Sundays too...GREAT spot cause they have several TV's to catch multiple games on! Â plus they advertise in advance which tv's will have which game and at what time...so it's never a guessing game. Â
if you're into beer pong, come here...they have a couple pro beer pong tables! Â per norm, they have lots of seating... and if you're looking for food, they've got a pretty solid menu. Â i've only had food on football sundays, but the nachos were BOMB! Â
i don't frequent here often enough so i am inspired now to go mosey down there this Friday night...it's been too long. Â Oh ya, they got a makeover kinda back during football season so the place looks pretty nice now :) fun times!
I've have been to the outpost for many years. Over the past 3 threes I have seen such a transformation in both the business and ownership. From the drink prices, New menus, Â new flat screen, updated signs, Â website, Â pretty much everything. What has really keep me coming back is the food. From the over stuffed sandwich to the bacon cheeseburgers. Its some of the best cooked food this side of San Ramon Valley. Â Sunday afternoon during football season are the best with over 15 TV with ever football game on. Â If you love tacos and are tried of the same ones from tacobell check out "Taco Tuesday" some of the most delicious taco's I have ever tasted.
Pro,
Drinks dirty cheap,
Food to die for,
Every sports game,
Large bar and cocktail area,
A real hometown bar,
Cons,
Old,
Bathroom gets a line on a Friday night.
This is a solid, if unspectacular bar. Â The best day to come is definitely Taco tuesday is because they have dollar tacos, and, more importantly; dollar beers. Â The tacos are totally average but they are what you'd expect for only paying a buck. Â The dollar beers include rolling rock, PBR, and coors light. Â Personally, I go with PBR or rolling rock. Â Its also $5 for a pitcher of those three beers. Â Do yourself a favor and get the pitcher. Â When the drinks are that cheap you will find yourself drinking a lot. Â
The set up of this place is very, very cool. Â Large dance floor, spacious seating and a patio area for when you need a minute outside. Â If you like rap music, which I do, you will dig this place even more. Â The music is always blaring so it almost feels like a club late at night. Â
One thing that shocked me about this place is the diversity of the crowd. Â You will find people of every age group and demographic here. Â I even ran into one of the guests at my old hotel job which was cray to say the least. Â They have a pool table, a golf arcade game and a basketball game. Â My buddy absolutely shredded the old score on the basketball game but it didn't save. Â A little lame. Â
The one reason this place does not get four stars from me is for a few reasons. Â For one, if it is not crackin, there is NO WHERE else to go within walking distance. Â This spot is literally in the boonies. Â The other reason is their beer pong tournament on tuesdays. Â My buddy and I made it to the second round the other night only to play against a couple of pansies who insisted on waving their hands in front of the cups on EVERY SHOT. Â Beer pong is a gentlemans game boys, if you can't hang, go home.
Last year on St. Patrick's Day I came here with the guy in my life for dinner and we had the most delicious meal of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and Guinness. Â We also had an Irish Car Bomb of course. Â
Because it was so great, it had to be repeated for lunch on St. Patrick's day this year! Â
still just as great food. Â the place is dark and not much to say from the outside but the food is good and always makes for a great time! :-)
Oh boy. Here it is. I am finally reviewing this place after years of coming here.
I have to say, I love this place. To summarize: it is what it is.
What it is:
-Free to get in
-Cheap drinks
-No strict dress code (I've seen guys in pj pants)
-Good/decent music
-Hilarious mixed crowd (solo dancing cougars)
-Beer pong tables
-Pool tables
-Outdoor patio
-Indoor seating
-Ample parking (in dirt)
This place has given me something to do on weekends (and even during some weekdays...don't judge me) and in short, has always come through for me when I needed somewhere to go. You'll see a ton of regulars, if you um, go there a lot...which I've had my moments of. Drinks are strong, hot messes are a plenty. Come here to have a fun and low-maintenance chill time. Trust me. You can wear your flats here, ladies. Keep the prom dress at home.
I came here last week for my girlfriends birthday and it was really easy to find. We had a lot of fun and I would recommend coming here!
They have beer pong tables, two bars, a pool table, a punching bag machine, and a photobooth!
PROS:
-Happy hour from 9-11pm (AWESOME!!)
-The bartender hook you up! They made some strong drinks that night haha
-DJ was really good! And i love that they have tv screens for music videos
-Good mix of people
-Not TOO packed, not TOO empty; enough room to get your groove on! :)
-No cover! $$
CONS:
-The photo booth didn't print out our pictures :(
-Mmmm... I think thats all!
When this bar first opened, they "cleaned up" their old image of the previous shoddy casino bar. For the first 6 months-year, the Outpost was decent,a solid 3 star rating. Since then, the influx of riff raff, thugs, and people looking to start fights for no reasons, has taken over.
I hear the weekdays are the best times to come, since the out of town clientele aren't there.
I am surprised the City of San Ramon has not made more attempts to shut this business down as it drains major police resources any Friday/Saturday evening. Â
Go own at your own risk...hopefully you enjoy it more than I do!
Now here's a spot where everyone know everyone... or everyone's biz.
Cool spot to hang and socialize but can get quite crazy. Drinks are cheap and fairly strong, music is LOUD and pretty well mixed- at times. It's a hit or miss type of bar, you may come in and it's completely crakin or completely dead! Make sure on your way out NOT to bust U-turns cuz dublin police is ready to haul that ass to much dreaded santa rita... No No NO! lots of cougars vying for attention lol hilarious! or just some trashy females trying to look cute in their sluttiest get ups. Overall it's pretty alrite to just come and have a good time:)
Everyone has their favorite spot to hang out at. This is obviously my favorite place to be. I've never come during the daytime for the food, but I have been here numerous times when it's the bar.
There's never any cover, drinks are strong and priced well. You can go to the dance floor, hang out at the bar and socialize with people and watch some Sports Center highlights on the flat screens or play beer pong. It's your average dive bar, where people will know your name...to remind you after you've had one too many shots.
Oh... The Outpost, should've sensed the danger when my friend's little sister suggested the spot! I'm sure it's a swell place to grab a beer and watch a game but for a Saturday night dancy dance, I'll stay home and blast the iTunes.
The crowd is boys in XXL shirts, baggy pants, and even caps; girls - in jeans with overflow and too-tight-shirts. Dance floor? There is not dance floor. The bartenders were nice though and were quick with the drinks.
Conclusion: not where you want to go dance and wear a nice dress.
And the parking lot is your heels' worst enemy. If you make it to the bar without a twisted ankle, consider yourself lucky.
A quick update - different food, same 4 star rating. Â This is slightly ironic because I ate here a few weeks ago and almost updated then with a lower rating. Â Btu this time they made up for it.
I stopped here on Sunday afternoon for a late lunch with some football. Â The place was not as crowded as I would have expected, maybe people were still worn out from all the World Series celebrations. Â
My experience started slow - it took a while for the bartendress to acknowledge me and come over. But it wasn't for lack of engagement - she was being friendly with everyone, and everyone seemed to be in a good mood.
Sitting at the bar I ordered a pint and asked to see the menu. Â The menu's are new - similar food with a couple new items, and printed up differently. Â This time I noticed the Mexican dishes that were buried in the old menus. Â The gentleman sitting a couple spots over said that someone ordered the Carne Asada platter and it looked great, then the guy on the other side of him chimed in stating that the Mexican food here was really good.
So I went for the Chile Verde platter, and I am glad I did. Â Large plate of tender pork with spicy but not too hot verde sauce, rice, beans, and tortillas. Â Very tasty. Â And the spiciness was what I like - not too hot to burn, but after 3 bites you start to sweat.
As I mentioned, the place wasn't too crowded in the bar area - didn't check out the back room area. Â There were about 7 guys and 5 women hanging out - ranging from mid 20's to early 50's. Â Everyone was friendly. By the time I arrived, the Raiders game was in the 4th quarter and was close. Â They had a different game on the big screen (there are about 6 good sized TV's and 1 large screen). Â The game on the big screen was a blow-out so they turned the volume down on that and turned up the Raiders.
Just before I left, one of the ladies started up the juke box and drowned out the Raiders - I was fine with that (but others may not have been).
BTW, the last time I ate here about a month ago - I got the fish and chips. Â The fish was way overcooked and dry. Â I would never order that again.
This time I learned the secret to the Outpost  - very good Mexican food.
So I've only been 21 for 2 months now. And so far, out of all the bars I've been too, Outpost is my FAVORITE. I'm from Fremont, and my sisters and I drive all the way from Fremont to catch some chill time at this bar.
Guards are ALWAYS at the front, and check ID at the front door (I like that they're are strictly enforced. Especially with the dress code. Males are not allowed to come in wearing plain t-shirts, or jerseys.) Great environment, friendly crowd. Weekends are fun, they got a DJ and dance floor. They got the bar, and tables around where you can sit, flat screen TV's, and a patio where you can go out to and smoke a cigarette or chill out there. If I lived closer, this would be my regular joint. AND, there's always standby guards hanging around the bar, dance floor, and patio to make sure nothing happens. Great security!
Only negative thing I don't like about this place is that you forget how small it is when it gets REALLY crowded.
Four stars just for the sandwich that I had there. Â
This is not a place that I would usually frequent. Â It's a dive sports bar. Â I don't drink or watch sports.
But anyway, it's on the way home from my honey's and my fellow yelper described such an interesting sandwich I had to try for myself. Â For under $12 I got a huge sandwich with a whole breast of chicken, 2 strips of thick bacon, grilled mushrooms and onions plus a spread of avocado on a french roll. Â I chose a side of onion rings and they were sooo good. Â Round, unbroken rings of batter fried onions. Â My take out box was packed.
Maybe, just maybe it might have been close to a 4 star. But that's only because I had no expectations going into this place. Â
I was in the east bay visiting my friend from hs to celebrate her graduation from nursing school.. and as the afternoon soon turned into night we were all wondering what to do later that night. Go out to see a movie? Nahh.. Club? Nahh.. Bar? Ok, sure as long as we dont have to be super dressy. So next we had the decide where.. SF? Berk? SJ? PA? We were even calling our friends for suggestions because we usually like to get gussied up and club in the city. Â Then another friend there suggested Outpost in San Ramon. My first thought was San Ramon? There's stuff to do there?! Um, ok yeah that sounds like a plan.
After dropping off my friends little sister at the movies we arrived at the Outpost around 1030. There's no cover charge and the place was empty but at 1030 that's what you'd expect at any bar. At that point the place was mostly guys with small groups of girls around the bar but by 1130 the place was packed and the ratio was a lot better.
Ok, now for the more important stuff..
Walking into the place I was pretty surprised by everything, in a good way. The interior looked like the inside of a cabin and was pretty spacious with 2 bars, a DJ and three lighted little platform boxes if your drunk self decides to dance on them. Also, there were tv's, shuffle board, pool table, beer pong tables (with the cup holders), that whatchamacallit basketball hoop game, and few other game things I can't remember. The bathrooms were tiny and the lines were long, even for the mens! .. But I guess all that matters are the drinks. Right? Well then if you stop by this place then you'd be surprised by the Super Cheap prices of drinks.. When my friend closed their tab at the end of the night they only spent $25 for a round and then some!
Overall I had a pretty good experience and would go again if I was in the east bay visiting hs friends but it's not a place I'd go out of my way to go to. Maybe that's because I'm just spoiled by the city.
This bar is way overrated. I'm not sure how they got so stuck up with its gravel parking lot, and crappy cover charge. But...
If you're a guy and you like fake tans and highlights - this is your place!
If you're a chick and you like fake tans and highlights - this is your place too!
Typical snooty San Ramon crowd. Mix in a few wannabe thugs looking for stupid girls with daddy's credit card, and you've got the Outpost.
I love this place! It is honestly the most happening place around here these days! Aura and most of the bars in walnut creek pale in comparison to the popularity of this place these days. I love the music, the fact there is no cover, the drinks are fairly cheap, and the beer pong tables!! This place is great! Now its my favorite weekend girls nite place to be!
Negatives: Sticky floor!!!! Why oh why can't they clean the floors sometimes from all the spilt drinks and gum!!?!
My A-ok rating is based on my patronage in the day hours, mostly during lunch time, where sometimes I actually get lunch here with a brew. Â Any dive with a kitchen is okay in my book, and this place actually has a pretty full sportsbar menu equip with wings, quesadillas, burgers and sandwiches. Â Nothing gourmet but decent with a cold frosty one.
The place is quite large for a dive and the place is outfitted with pool tables, beer pong tables, dj booth set-up, plethora of tv's and an auxillary bar for busier times. Â I heard this place gets pretty rowdy in the evenings and judging by the stained and stale beer smell in the carpet in the gaming and dance floor area, I'd imagine it being one big frat party (no THANKS). Â It's a good thing I don't frequent in those late hours, cuz I probably woulda given this place a lower rating. Â But chilling mid-day to a burger and brew, watching ESPN to the tunes on the jukebox, this place is aw-ight for such thangs.
Wow. I was generous before.
I love reading other people's reviews because you can read the funniest things that just inspire you...Like reading that this place "Cracks!" Really? Cracks? Who says crap like that in real life, and second...really?
This place sucks. From the ompa-lompa looking bouncer - and I say that sincerely...Allow me to do the math: he's a good looking, super tan dude with shoulder length green hair. The green against + tan skin = Oompa-Loompa Looking (I've seen him at another bar without green hair, and he's not bad looking at all) - to all the bros that filled the place from the floor to rafters.
I guess this joint is like all the other joints in San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, etc. There are things you can guarantee will occur at places like these - it will smell like hot, sweaty bro ass; all the guys will be wearing some variety of sports cap, and if it's warm outside cargo shorts; there will be many girls with too much make up, and a blonde with a really bad weave and 'just-been-f*cked' hair; you get the idea...no need to continue painting this pretty little picture.
I don't know...if you're over 25 and/or have an ounce of class, then save your cash, friends and go somewhere else.
Since my original review we've been back to the Outpost a few times so I figured I should write an update and throw in an extra star. This place has definitely become the place to be in the area on a Friday or Saturday night.
They have changed things around in here since my last review and that's a plus. Â They got rid of the weird display cases with merchandise and sports memorabilia for sale which is a good thing because things are much more open now. I think they were left over from when this place was more of a card room and not so much a bar/dance place.
Now the OP has a couple beer pong tables, golden tee and some other games in addition to the shuffle board, darts and tv's they already had. One thing that is new which I found odd was the VIP area blocked off with a velvet rope...uhm what, are you serious? VIP at the OP? Still not sure about that one.
Major bonus (at least for me) is that every time I come here on a Friday or Saturday night the DJ's are awesome!! Â
The crowd is a huge mix of the following (so enter at your own risk):
- Chads. You know those young (sometimes old) guys who wear pooka shells and look like their entire wardrobe is from Pac Sun (or similar store) and they say bro alot but it sounds like brah...what's up brah followed by some ridiculous huh huh huha laugh
- Lisas. The female equivalent to Chads usually wearing some type of short dress courtesy of Pac Sun or equivalent store and wearing flip flops.
-Douchebags. Ed Hardy, Affliction, or Skin shirt and spiky over done hair.
Possibly big, I mean really big fake diamond earrings and some times a gold or silver chain around their around their neck.
- Cougars. Mostly sipping on cougar juice aka white wine and dancing on the shadow boxes like coked out amateur strippers.
- Hipsters. All versions of hipsters; the uber hipster with the vintage cowboy shirt, pompadour and pin up girl tattoo on his neck, the plain hipster in jeans and a black zip up hoodie, vans and wearing big black rimmed square glasses with no lenses and a slick backed 'do , and the confused girl hipster wearing a leopard tank top and fedora.
- Thugs (not meant in a bad way). Actually wanna be thugs for the most part. You know the guys with the neck tattoos that have never been out of yuppyville  in their lives (except maybe to get the tattoo).  There were some legitimate hard core folks there last night but the rest of them were just posers.
-The rest of us...just a random mix of late twenty somethings that don't fit into one of the above categories and are left in the miscellaneous 'rest of us' category.
It should be noted for the record that the above descriptions were just our observations and in are in no way meant to be mean. Â It makes from some great people watching and great conversations.
There are 100 other bars similar to this. I'm just most fortunate to have awesome company with me.
The parking lot is loose gravel without real parking assignment. The dance floor was fair, drinks were fair, drunks were plenty...per: beer pong table, pool tables and darts (real ones not the magnetic). So there is shelter from the club-like features they had.
Bring your bestest friends and have fun there, I know I did :)
