Park Tavern is definitely my new go to place when I want a city-ish experience without having to drive all the way down to the city. Granted, the Rosemont entertainment area is a total pain in the ass to get to if you don't know where you're going but it beats city traffic, parking, and parking fees. Bleh.
I've been to Park Tavern a couple of times for dinner and each time I've been really impressed with the food. The menu is very diverse with what I like to refer to as "elevated bar food". It's a great mix of earthy greens, burgers, sammies, meat and seafood dishes, and some crazy good small plates. Here's the breakdown...
+ Farmstead Tacos: Â Mushrooms, eggs, greens, and brie. Amazing. Duh. They were even nice enough to sub egg whites for me.
+ Pulled Chicken Tacos: Equally as good as the Farmstead - just with some juicy, spicy, chicken.
+ Jalapeno, Bacon Mac: If you don't get this, you're stupid. It's the best f'ing spicy, meaty mac I've ever had. And trust me, I've tried many
+ Roasted Red Pepper Hummus: Creamy, delectable, and comes with not only pita dippers, but cucumber dippers as well. As for the olive tapenade...swooooon.
+ Smoked chicken wings: Smoky, spicy, meaty, and delicious. Enough said.
+ Lamb French Dip: Perfection on a bun. Ask for extra dip - it's so good you'll want to drink it alone.
+ Beef Carpaccio: I'm not usually into raw meat but paired with capers, greens, and truffle oil - I was sold.
Some other faves that my dining buddies raved about were the Ahi Tuna, Spicy Calamari, Shrimp & Grits, and the Foot Long Grilled Cheese (yum).
The one thing that could take Park Tavern from a 4 star review to a 5 star review would be the service. It wasn't terrible, but I found each time our server was somewhat unfriendly and forgetful. It's also a hassle making a reservation for a party larger than 6. I failed to understand why I needed to go through the party planning committee for a party that wasn't that big - especially since both times I've been in on a Friday night the restaurant wasn't full.
Solid 4 stars. Great food. Amazing mac. Phenomenal beer selection. Trendy, city vibe.
Came for lunch with two friends. Once we figured out how to find the place and park, we were impressed with the ambiance (although the place was empty).
Had the Mac of the day which was awesome! Also tried two of their salads which were blah...no taste whatsoever! How is it that the Smokey Bacon Vinaigrette doesn't have any smokey or bacon taste at all? It tasted like oil to me. Very bland and so was the chicken it was topped with and the crumbled cornbread was doughy.
I might return to try another Mac and maybe a burger but the salads were a big disappointment.
Good place! It was our first time to the Rosemont Park. Their online menu looked interesting. The cost for burgers and sandwiches at a bar was a little higher than usual, but worth it. It was more like a gourmet sports bar. The sandwiches are huge you get your money's worth and love the fresh ingredients. Excellent spicy calamari.
I read on yelp they validate and they did. Remember to bring your parking ticket!
