I love this bar, and not just because I'm Welsh. This is the neighborhood hangout where the bartenders remember your name. Amazing food! Plus, this is the only place I've found on the west coast where the fish and chips measure up. Not to mention the whiskey gingers. Yummmmm.

The ambiance is nice, and it's one of the only bars in the area that serves food as well, but the food is mediocre at best. Turkey nachos came with a lot of chili and very few chips. Fish and chips were okay, but the fish was very clearly not fresh as every bite tasted like eating week-old seafood. The beer selection is okay (and there's a full bar), but it's pretty standard (shock top, widmer, heineken??). The cottage pie was probably the best part, but portions are small here. Oh, and parking sucks in this area, so you better hope you get lucky.

Neighborhood gem! Been here for drinks and apps one weekday evening and brunch on a Saturday. Both pleasant experiences. Fun staff and service is prompt. Dark wood and high ceilings - and weirdly enough, kid friendly on a weekend morning. Shrimp app and steamed mussels with fries were delicious. And the brunch burger was divine - love my burgers cooked medium and they did it an outstanding job with it. And it comes with chipotle peppers and a fried egg! The husband ordered the Irish Breakfast, and the sausage was tender and savory. However I think we both agree that the burger was the winner. Prices are high, but comparable for city prices, but the upside is there is no long, arduous wait! I hope to come back to try their stuffed french toast and would definitely come out to chill with some friends and enjoy a beer, or 2.

Came here on Sunday Morning around 10am right before the crowd started to trickle-in. Neat bar/restaurant. I love the layout. They had all the football games on which was a plus. Ordered the eggs Florentine. Simple and refreshing.

Where do I start? Amazing French toast? Or great service? Whatever, I feel like a jerk for living by this place for so long and never giving it a chance. Great brunch, and service. I will be bringing back people to share the yummy lemonnny French toast!!

Very pleasant place to grab a pint and a bite to eat. Really enjoyed the fish & chips, which were meatier than I expected. Service was adequate and there was easy street parking. I will definitely consider them again if I am in the area.

    **Review for bar only**
We stopped in for a drink and snack before our dinner reservations at another establishment. The first thing I noticed was the quaint, SF old school feel pervasive throughout. It almost had a "Cheers bar" kind of feel. Wood from floor to ceiling.
I had the Gin Flower Fizz(Gin, Lemon, champagne) and Turkey Nachos and had a sip of the Mandarin Cosmo(Vodka,Grand Marnier, Cranberry,Lime, Grenadine). The drinks were solid and the turkey nachos were not bad as well(somewhere between nachos at an Oakland A's game and SF Giants game). Service was friendly and prompt. I can envision coming back here for a pub crawl with my boys.

Lovely Breakfast and Brunch spot~BUT too busy on Sundays

So my roommate and I went to Parkside for my birthday breakfast. She ordered eggs Benedict, which was good but not excellent. I had a delicious order of waffles with a side of berries and grilled potatoes. They were well-seasoned and the waffles were yummy with butter and maple syrup, but I wasn't blown away by any of the food.

*BAR* On Sunday brunch, it is only $10 for bottomless mimosas or bloody marys, which beats most places in the city that charge about $15 so points for that!!

Downside: I had really intended to order their stuffed French toast (looked mouth-watering-AMAZING at every other table I spotted it at), but they were out by the time I ordered! That was a bummer on my birthday bfast dining experience, and I would love to go again to try it. I would go earlier next time, especially since it is so busy on Sunday mornings/afternoon to the point where they are seemed unable to fully accommodate customers. However, because they were out of the stuffed French toast, our waiter was kind enough to give us complimentary sides and orange juice! :)
Overall, Parkside has solid brunch-type food AND best bottomless mimosa prices.

Parkside is my favorite restaurant and bar to frequent in the Sunset.

Since what usually gets me in there is the lure of a drink I will start there. I almost always try to sit at the bar because 1) it is faster to get a drink ;) and 2) I genuinely love talking with the staff. They are always friendly and always attentive to the customers. The dinning room seating is a close second, though, when there are no open bar seats. The service there is also attentive, and I have been there on some crazy busy days i.e Giants Playoff games when people are elbow to elbow. That atmosphere provides a more bar like feel, but who is complaining?

So after the first round of gin and tonics  have been ordered, the next order of business is food. I have never been disappointed with a dish ordered at Parkside. I strongly recommend the Nachos, coconut curry chicken satays, gorgonzola and apple salad, the salmon, roasted chicken, or fish and chips. Everything is aways fresh and they incorporate seasonal items into the dishes.

The restaurant is always clean and as someone who works in the food industry I really appreciate that. So, thank you Parkside for providing me a great local spot to indulge in great food and drink. It is only a plus that the L stops right outside making getting there a lot easier and safer!

    Came for breakfast.

    Very mellow and laid back.
Even though its a sports bar it was impressively clean.

Our bartender was awesome. Great bloody marry and irish coffee.

    THE FOOD WAS UNREAL GOOD.

    Cant wait to come back

Came here for brunch on a Sunday and had a pleasant experience. I would say this place is more like 3.5 stars and would bump it up to 4 stars should I try it again and have an equally pleasant experience. My friend and I shared the smoked salmon eggs benedict and the summer salad, which were both pretty good and the portions were generous. The only complaint I had was that the eggs were too cooked, and poached eggs should be runny.  I wouldn't mind giving this place another try to test its consistency but not particularly dying to go back.  Then again, it's possible I feel that way about a lot of brunch places.

Finally - there's a decent bar in the sunset that's not on Irving and 9th.

The food is high quality especially the veggie fare -  the quinoa shepherd's pie is one of the best vegetarian dishes I've had in a long time; full of veggies and strategically placed mashed potatoes; has a surprising amount of savory flavor, and unlike many other quinoa dishes - not at all grainy or dry.

The drink selection is not huge but very good - quality beers, hard whisk(e)ys and judging by the quality of tequila - i'd expect good mixed drinks.

Finally the crowd - I expected an average dive crowd of neighborhood townies and old timers - and was surprised to see a range of demographics that i'd expect from a restaurant rather than a bar - that's because PT is more of a restaurant than a bar.
    Sunset Gem.

Mozzie on in for a great breakfast based on the reviews. It was good-ish.

I had the veggie omelette and it was fine. For someone that didn't want carbs and asked for a salad instead of fries- I got leaves. No salad was there. That was a tad disappointing. But the omelette itself was tasty.

My husbands burger as he puts it was "um meh".

Really want to come back for the oysters which I hear are the stars of the show!

This place has really won me over. Went here twice in one weekend, once for brunch and once for appetizers with some friends. Nial, the bartender, was hilarious and very friendly. So attentive to what we needed. Food came out fast, and was so delicious.

I tried the Anchor Steam Mussels and I was impressed!  It was a decent portion size of fresh mussels in a buttery herb and wine sauce with a heaping bed of hot fries on top.  The fries are thick and perfect to soak up the delicious wine sauce.  Excellent food at a bar.

My husband and I had brunch here. They weren't very busy for a Sunday brunch, which is great because I had them all to myself. I ordered the Stuffed French toast which is a big portion and delicious! I also had the mimosa, which was generous on the champagne. The OJ was fresh squeezed and was just ok. My husband had eggs benedict which he loved. We'd be back to try a few other things.

Not very impressed with their menu selection because nothing on there looked interesting. Ribs, chicken, salmon, burger, etc. These were all very standard dishes you can find at other American establishments. My wife ordered a chicken pot pie and I went with one of the burgers. The food was prepared better than we expected so we have to give them credit for that. Overall, a good place to eat but nothing out of the ordinary.

This used to be a weekly dinner spot & a favorite place to invite friends until they changed their menu. It is such a shame they took the only respectable vegetarian option off of their menu. The seasonal veggie cottage pie was amazing. It was such a nice change to see a vegetarian item that was well thought out, not just an after thought & allowed non-meat eaters to enjoy some yummy Irish pub comfort food for a change. We brought many friends, veggies & carnivores alike to share meals here.

As close neighbors & regulars we tried to continue to come after the change and voiced our disappointment at every visit. Every time we did, another nearby customer would echo their desire to see the veggie pie return. Listen to your customers, Parkside! The bland veggie pasta is a joke. Please bring back the veggie cottage pie & I would happily give 5 stars... heck, give us a decent veggie burger option & I'd give 4!  Vegetarians want good pub food too!

I've been here several times now for beers, for game snacks, and for sunday brunch. This is within a couple blocks of my place so definitely convenient for me. You can tell it's more of a local's joint which is perfect. Bartenders and hostess are all very friendly and they are very likely family. It's a little pricier, but I don't have a problem with that for the friendly service and location.

At times they can be short staffed and the wait time can get longer.. but if you bring it up to them, they will take care of you in one way or another.

Brunch favorites are the Salmon Boxty Benedict and the Stuffed french toast (lemony marscapone I think). If you bring a friend.. make the agreement to do splitsies and you won't be sorry.

Bar appetizers are more standard: Nachos, Steamed mussels and fries, chicken wings, potato skins. All decent quantity and quality wise.. but nothing particularly outstanding but still pretty good.

And umm.. I can't stop thinking about their mushy peas.. MUSHY PEAS! who knew something that sounds so unappetizing can be so so delicious. I couldnt' stop eating it. Something like Marrowfat peas, butter, heavy cream, fairy dust, magic, salt, and pepper.  I know it's a standard in the UK but... .... mushy peas.

My girlfriend's friend was visiting and they wanted to meet up with a third friend over brunch, so I tagged along and played chauffeur.  Since I was there I figured I should hang out and grab some grub!

I ordered their popular smoked salmon benedict with a mimosa to wash it down.  I really enjoyed the benedict and there was plenty of fresh salmon, though I was sort of expecting a heartier potato pancake like a latke.  The eggs were perfectly runny and the potatoes were delicious.  I do wish there were a bit more though.  The mimosa was very strong and I always enjoy the heavy hand of a generous bartender.

Service was fantastic and our server was super friendly.  We were never bothered unnecessarily and the food was served up fast.  Prices were kind of high and my entree and drink came out to $25 with tax and tip.  I'd love to try their dinner entrees sometime and would come back in the future.

    Food: 7/10

    Service: 9/10

    Price: $$

    Atmosphere: 7/10

Went here for brunch! It definitely hit the spot! I had the Huevos Tavernos. Their food presentation was nice and was pretty tasty! I had their Irish coffees as well. Nothing special with them, probably wouldn't order that drink again. The bar is beautiful, looks very old school, but the food and drinks or OK.

Good place to go when your in the neighborhood, but wouldn't drive out of my way for it.

    Warning! Warning!:
NO MORE BOTTOMLESS MIMOSA'S or BLOODY MARY'S!

My best friend was in town and I wanted to take her to Bottomless Mimosa Breakfast here at Parkside Tavern. I've heard RAVE reviews and since it's just up the street from me, I thought this would be a fun girls-morning.

I stopped in on 4/14/13 but was informed by the kind waitress that they NO LONGER OFFER BOTTOMLESS MIMOSA'S OR BLOODY MARY'S. I had checked the website that very morning to make sure it was listed there still and it was in fact still listed at $10.00.

They now offer A bottle of Preseco and a HALF Craft of Orange Juice for $25, which you have to pour yourself. We went ahead and ordered this, though we were really disappointed.

When it was brought to us and we poured our first drinks it became pretty clear that there wasn't going to be enough Orange Juice.

We placed our order and our food came promptly, however, I had to cut the meal short due to a sudden death in the family. The waitress was very kind and swift with getting me the check and wrapping up our meals, but offered ZERO compensation for the fact we were disappointed with the misinformation on the website. We ended up having to leave the bottle of Preseco having only had one glass each.

    --------------

    NOTE UPDATE:
I emailed the owner this morning after posting this review to express my disappointment in the poor management of the marketing.

Larry was very kind and professional in his response and is working to correct the dissatisfaction my friend and I felt upon being told their were no more bottomless Mimosa's.

Review moved from 2 stars to 3 stars.

I really, really, REALLY wanted to like this place. Really. We went here tonight, and experienced lackluster food and even more lackluster service.

We came in around 9.30. We were seated at a high top table, which was fine. The waitress was a little badgery about our order, but in the grand scheme of things I'd rather have too much attention than not enough. My husband ended up ordering two appetizers and I ordered a burger. Our waitress told us our table would be too small, and then asked us to move to another table. Fine, whatever. So we picked up our drinks, plates, bread basket, and moved ourselves- Would have been nice if the wait staff could've managed that for us.

And then once we got to the new table, it's like we never existed. Our original waitress vanished. Before our food got there, our new waitress came by to ask us if we thought we'd want dessert, because the kitchen was closing and she wanted to know if she would need to keep anybody (Sidenote: Got home, checked their website- Says the kitchen is open until 11 on Saturday nights. At the most, it was around 10). Not wanting to be responsible for someone having to stay late, we passed on dessert.

The server arrived with the food. My burger was a very charred well done when I had asked for medium well, had a sad piece of swiss when I had asked for cheddar, was accompanied by a gorgeous but mealy tomato, two onion rings trying to pass as being pickled, and a single square of lettuce (that was mostly rib) that had been described as a "salad garnish." The fries were hit and miss- Some where nearly uncooked and lukewarm, while others were creamy and piping hot on the inside. It was a pretty disappointing plate of food for $15. My husband said the calamari were flavorless, and that his cheese plate was okay.

We did not see our waitress until nearly the end of our meal. Not even in passing. So no ketchup for my fries or saucless burger, no water refills for me- I was only served one small glass all night, and had no other beverages.

Maybe it was an off night. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. But I'll certainly try other options in the area before I go back.

Came here for St. Patty's day to have a small bite to eat and some drinks.

Their food Is ridiculously overpriced and I'm pretty sure we were overcharged. The food and service needs improvement especially if they are going to charge those prices.

As for the drinks the beer selection is seriously lacking.

Still on the hunt for a great place to eat and drink in the outer Sunset. We were hoping this would be our place but sadly no.

An unexpected find in a residential area in San Fran. (Especially because it's so far out there).

I can't believe I never knew about this place until recently.  From the outside it looks like an old-time fancy restaurant but once you step inside, it reminds me of Harry's Bar in the Fillmore.

I came here for a niners game and brunch to go along with it and I was blown away by how decent the food is here.  I got one of those Irish Breakfast deals and bottomless mimosas/bloody mary for $10.  The price wasn't too bad and I thought I had a great deal with my drinks because I knocked out 3 bloody marys and one mimosas and it was just $10!  They let you switch between the two drinks if you like.  My Irish breakfast plate was a good size and I really can't think of anything to complain about.

I also like the fact that this place wasn't too crowded when it came down to watching games.  I know a lot of places that gets jam packed of people during home games.  Parkside Tavern had very spirited fans, but none were obnoxious.  Huge Plus.

I did a small group (bicycle) ride in the neighborhood and needed a somewhat quiet destination with beverages and preferably food.  Did some Yelping, and figured we'd check this place out.

We (party of six) arrived some time in the grace period between (weekend) brunch and dinner, but we got to order from either menu, so that was stellar of them to do.  I ordered their brunch burger, and I'm so glad I did.  The combination of peppers mixed into the (perfectly cooked) patty, pickled onions, fried egg, and pepper jack cheese, was absolutely delicious, not to mention the crispy fries it came with.  The beet salad and veggie pannini that other people ordered also looked very tasty.

I'd definitely go back, though I think their only drawback is limited bike parking out front (no parking meters either).  Fortunately, it's the Sunset, so not being able to see my bike from where I'm sitting isn't a dealbreaker.

    Happy bday Edgar!

All you can drink mimosas for 10 bucks! These were great (its pretty hard to mess up champagne and OJ), and if you got a decent tolerance, you can get your money's worth for this (about a buck each for me and still not wasted but make sure you have a DD). The waitress also was pretty good on the overall turnover of the mimosas. I would have gone the beer route but damn 10 bucks is just too good of a deal to pass up on a Sunday.

I ordered the Fully Monty, which was bangers, irish bacon, irish bread, a couple of eggs, potatoes, and a tomato. They didn't have the black and white pudding, which was kinda lame. The bread was good and hearty, with a nice earthiness to it. The potatoes were decent for rosemary potatoes, though I like my house potatoes crunchy and these were soft. Perfect over easy eggs that went well with the meats, bread and potatoes, that I made into a sandwich. The bangers were on the oily side, but very flavorful and fatty, while the bacon was more meaty than fat. These were offset by the bowl of fruit that came with it as well as the mimosas. Still bummed about the lack of black and white pudding. All and in all, this was OK, but the dish was actually made better with alcohol (since the meats and alcohol cancel each other out).

My only gripe was that a table next to us actually complained that we were loud. This is a sports pub that serves all you can drink mimosas on a Sunday... are you serious?

The food here is great!  A bit expensive, but tasty.

I ordered the pork chop.  It came with bacon-wrapped brussels sprouts, fingerling potatoes, and brandied apple on top.  Yum!  Each part of the dish was delicious.  My friends got the rack of ribs, rosemary chicken, and cottage pie.  I didn't try any of it but it looked good.

Each entree was about $15-$25, so it's a bit on the pricey side.  But it's well worth it!

It feels like everything a comfortable neighborhood pub should be, with the bonus of it being in a very dead area for non-Ethnic bars and restaurants.  If you're looking for a great pint or cocktail and some TVs and some comfortable seats, and you're in this part of town, it's a great solution for you.

They food looked solid, although I didn't have any.

It's a very "quiet" bar by nature of all the wood paneling and soft-cushioned chairs, so you can actually hear your friends talk.

They do well made standard mixed drinks, and have Guinness on nitro.

Solid spot to watch sports.  It fills up, but there is usually one or two tables open.

Bottomless mimosas/bloody mary's (2 hour limit and have to start before 2pm).

Food here is pretty decent.  Got the burger and a caeser salad; average decent stuff, enjoyed it and nothing to really complain about.

Servers were very friendly and attentive.

What more could you ask for in a friendly neighborhood bar?

TVs to watch the latest sporting event? Check. There's plenty of nice flatscreen televisions in addition to a large projector in the main room.

Good food? Check. They have a nice variety of dishes. It's mostly Irish influenced (Bangers and Mash, Shepherd's Pie), but you have the typical bar fare here too, like Hot Wings and French Fries. I've only had the pleasure of trying the Turkey Hash and the Mussles and Fries. Both are fairly good but I wouldn't call them specialties by any stretch since you could find better versions elsewhere. But unlike most bars, they have a much classier presentation of their food.

Good drinks? Double check. Come here for brunch and enjoy the bottomless Mimosas or Bloody Mary's. For $10, you can drink as much as your hearts content (within a 2 hr. period). The Bloody Mary's are mixes well and come generously garnished.

Good Service? Make it great service. I thought that the bartenders and servers were very nice and accommodating. They do a great job of making you feel at home.

Good atmosphere? Yes! It's a nice tavern environment that has a lively vibe, but not overly noisy or disturbing. I love the decor and the aesthetic. They do a good job of keeping it looking nice and clean too. Much props to the patrons here for being cool and classy. It should be mentioned that the place looks nice and festive right now as holiday decorations adorn the room.

Overall, a great neighborhood bar that I wished I found sooner. Will probably be a place that I frequent going forward.

Brunch is always a word that will get me out of the house. (Actually who am I kidding? Anything to do with food will get me out of the house...) I mean c'mon..eggs? Potatoes? French toast? Pancakes? How more delicious can you get? I'm definitely one of those people who like to eat breakfast food any time of the day.

It was my friend's 22nd birthday a few weeks ago and she chose Parkside Tavern as her choice for brunch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I'm sure the bottomless mimosas deal had a good part in her decision..

I ordered the smoked salmon boxty benedict (~14$). Ahhh it was delicious. It also came with potatoes and a side of random fruits. The portions seem small/on the small side, but it was actually super filling. I couldn't even finish my potatoes or my second egg.

My benedict was so good that the second time I came here (two weeks later), I ordered the same thing. My two friends B and D really wanted me to drink with them so they chipped in together to order me the bottomless mimosas (10$). I'm pretty lightweight so that didn't end too well with me... I'll just leave you three words: hangover before 2pm.

I'll definitely be back. I think Parkside Tavern will become our Sunday brunch spot as it's only a few blocks away from my friend's house.

Packed as a forgotten-about Jack-in-the-Box, we never thought we would get a seat to watch the Giants game and grab a bit.  The gracious host (owner?), however, assured us tables were turning, but then the Giants were having a rocking 4th inning and it wasn't looking so likely.

Then, the clouds - I mean, crowds - parted and a ray of sunlight in the form of a considerate patron gave up the table he and his date were having beers on so "someone" could eat.  Sa-weet!  We sat, we ordered, we ate, enjoyed and paid all within an hour and the server was absolutely slammed, but still managed to be courteous, prompt and precise with our order (I'm going to give her the waters not always being filled because we were in a restaurant Siberia, out of the way and a bit landlocked).

The food? Oy vey, the food!! And I'm a Catholic! Mussels and frites swimming in a buttery herb bath; seasoned beef cottage pie with a flaky crust (I asked to switch from the mashed potatoes); THEE most succulent, tasty half chicken with buttered veggies; and thai curry chicken (I don't know what she was thinking ordering it, but it was good nonetheless).   Homey, filling, savory and "hit-the-spotty" I wouldn't have changed a thing about the meal. Except maybe not order THAI food at an Irish establishment - but whatever, we're Californian, we like that fusion thing.

Dessert, yes please.   Banana bread pudding.  Ah-mazing.  But I really like bread pudding and I know that the accompanying creme anglaise was really more like a lait anglaise, but it's more a topping to me than anything anyway.

Final thoughts: any bar where a patron gets up to allow another to eat at their table in a packed bar denotes a congenial, friendly vibe I would prefer to any bar anyway, the great food and service was just a bonus.

After a round of tennis with Bun's buddies, brunch sounded like a great idea.  Getting out of the cold, my eyes saw nothing but constant wood patterns screaming "I am a tavern".  Without knowing they were called Parkside Tavern, the look will clearly draw you to that conclusion.  Just don't look at the ceiling, that's the only thing that may sway from it.

We were seated immediately with a view of all the televisions.  Directly in front on me, one had the Giants game on one television and a tennis match on another, a nice way to end off a tennis outing than some tennis on the television.

I got the full monty with poached eggs.  Just thought of this, a full monty, most definitely named after the movie had poached eggs and various meats; one of which was a sausage.  The chef could have been displayed something very bad on my plate.

I'm not entirely sure if the brunch offering is a new thing.  The general taste felt like it was a new thing, rather specifically a work in progress.  Choosing my eggs poached they could have been poached better.  While the meat and fruit were very fresh tasting, they lacked seasoning with flavor coming mainly from the meat.

Parkside Tavern is a change of pace in the Parkside (Sunset) area full of all kind of Asian eateries.  Speaking of which, while being seated, they brought us to another Asian party thinking we were with them.  Guess not many Asians pop in, or we just looked really Asian.  Accidents happen, and it was a simple humorous one at that.  Bun and I had a fun time that was certainly helped by the environment.  While brunch does leave one in somewhat a buyers' remorse, this place is still a good stop for a any casual hangout.

I wanted to get my some of my girls together for a Bloody Mary Sunday to start a new tradition.  As I'm not one who is very knowledgeable on Bloody Mary's, I decided to Yelp-It.  Based upon the reviews I read, as well as these words: Bottomless Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's, I decided to try out Parkside Tavern.

Located in the Outer Sunset, between 29th Avenue and 30th Avenue, on Taraval, the Parkside seemed to be buzzing on an early Sunday afternoon. I ventured over, from the Inner Sunset, to try to get my drink on and secure a table for my girls. There is a bar as well as seating area and a back room.  The venue looks small, but it seems to fit quite a bit of people. There were a few groups who were there for brunch.

The hostess seated me at a table in the back room.  The Parkside has many large screen TV's, 2 of which are in the back room.  I asked the server if she could change the channel from the Olympics to the Giants' game, as my girls and I are huge baseball fans.  Our server very graciously changed the channel upon my request.

I ordered my first of 3 Bloody's. When our server brought out the first, I think I said something along the lines of "Oh My God It's HUGE!" (TWSS) Decked out with a full celery stalk, an olive, a pickled onion, lime and pickled asparagus shoot, I felt as though I had my meal in a glass!

The Bloody was amazing; perfectly spiced and rather strong: just the way I like 'em.

My girls showed up, one ordering a Mimosa and the other a Bloody.

Mind you, the bottomless Bloody's and Mimosas are only as such if you spend $10 and also order an entree. In my opinion, that's a great deal. The food: I ordered the Stuffed French Toast, which is stuffed with Lemon Marscapone Cheese and is served with fresh fruit and Vermont Maple Syrup. You get 3 pieces of French Toast, 2 of which I was able to eat.  I tried to go for the third, but I was starting to feel like a beached whale.

I soldiered on, ordering drinks 2 and 3, and having a few good laughs, some great girl talk, and baseball on the TV; it was an amazing Sunday afternoon. I am looking forward to returning with my girls next month to celebrate my birthday and have more yummy food, drink, and girl talk. I think I may have to try their Mimosa's next time.

If you're looking for a place to go for Sunday Brunch, or just somewhere to have a good meal and a few drinks, I highly recommend Parkside Tavern. And if you're lucky, maybe the Giants will be winning as well.

My friend who recently moved to the Sunset suggested we come here for a bite and a drink when I visited her in the city last week. She'd been here several times and stated that both of our palates would be happy (she only eats limited amounts of meat and knows I am a carnivore for life). We decided to sit at the bar and enjoy Parkside's happy hour (weekdays 4-6pm).

Oysters are a buck a pop during HH, so I obviously couldn't say no to a few of those and ordered a half dozen (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/2kAb8kvymt5xJfoNFTwFyQ?select=QW8p53r0d8H9V8XRmHkeMA#tFchf3Byo1crU4_fQKMFUg">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>). My friend also tried a couple and enjoyed them. The mignonette served alongside the oysters was really good - I'm always happy to find something other than cocktail sauce & horseradish for my aphrodisiac treats. The oysters could have been shucked a little better though, I had a decent amount of shell residue resting on my mollusks.

We split the roasted red & gold beet salad with mixed greens and feta cheese, drizzled with blood orange vinaigrette (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/2kAb8kvymt5xJfoNFTwFyQ?select=QW8p53r0d8H9V8XRmHkeMA#nh7ahnGsPHZzznuzsRybBA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>). The salad was fresh and crisp and had great flavors. How can you not like beets paired with feta?!?! The fresh orange slices added a nice citrus note along with the dressing.
The coconut curry chicken satays with cucumber slaw ($8 at HH) had a great kick to them, the meat was tender and juicy, and the cucumber slaw was a-ma-zing!

Once we spotted the bacon roasted Brussels sprouts among the side dishes on the menu, we couldn't resist (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/2kAb8kvymt5xJfoNFTwFyQ?select=QW8p53r0d8H9V8XRmHkeMA#QW8p53r0d8H9V8XRmHkeMA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>). This was the dish I was most excited about, and unfortunately it turned out to be the worst from everything we ordered. The sprouts were waaaaaay overcooked and basically falling apart once you pierced a piece with your fork. So needless to say, any flavor the sprouts once contained was gone. The bacon was nice and crispy, but the Brussels sprouts' texture seriously had me wondering if they were cooked in advance and then reheated to the point of being overdone. The chef can easily fix this and make it into the amazing side dish that it can be.

Service was great - our bartender was fun, friendly, and attentive. I enjoyed my $4 HH draft Blue Moon and my friend had their $4 HH house wine. I loved their happy hour and the regular dinner menu looked enticing enough that I'd love to come back here. The restaurant itself has a great look with dark stained wood and a clean, inviting atmosphere.

While traveling by muni, I'd often see this restaurant. I wondered how it was and what it tasted like. Well after tennis on Sunday morning, I was about to find out.

Bunny and I had just finished swinging around our tennis rackets, trying to get some good rally going. Approaching noon, we decided to break for lunch. Parking was difficult to find. After circling around for a bit, finally we found a space! Upon entering, there was a sign on the chalkboard outside that said $10 bottomless Miimosas and Bloody Mary's. This didn't draw my attention or appeal to me. However it was nice deal to have for those interested.

Apparently there was some kind of party in the private room with Asian people and he host assume we were part of it. He lead us to the room and our friend informed him we were not included in that special occasion. There were plenty of seating and we had a hard time figuring out where to sit and which had the best view for the televisions.

Staring at the menu for a bit, I decided on Turkey & Spring Vegetable Hash, which was 2 Poached Eggs, Roasted Pepper Hollandaise Sauce, Brunch Potatoes. Bunny ordered the Fully Monty, which was the Irish Bacon, Bangers, Black & White Pudding with Grilled Tomato, Two Eggs, Brunch Potatoes & House-Made Irish Brown Soda Bread.

When the dishes arrived, at first glance they looked like a decent size. The poached eggs looked like sour cream, which had me worried for a second since I couldn't eat diary. The brunch potatoes were great. The fruit was fresh and added a healthy tough to our meal. As I kept eating, I realized that the portion of the dish was larger than I had thought it was.

The serivce was good and our server would come back often to check up on us ad see if there was anything else we needed. It was a fun brunch and it would be great to come back again and try some other dishes.
