Stop the presses! This place is AMAZING. But first -- let's do a little educational schpeel on Greek Pronunciation! A gyro is NOT pronounced "guy-ro" instead, the g is SILENT and sounds more like "year-o". But whatever you may call it, The Parthenon's are DELICIOUS! I was a little shocked about the price, until I got my food. Hearty portions and available in combo meals. Don't expect to go in! This is drive thru only my friends. My stomach is grumbling just thinking about it!
Review Source:I'm not sure if Crawfordsville is ready for gyros, but I certainly am!
And especially if they're as good as this one. The Parthenon is a welcome addition to C'ville's food scene, such as it is. And what's more, this drive-thru eatery is still the cafe it's always been -- and thus it remains a good place for that coffee on the way to work.
But really, that gyro was perfectly adequate -- with generous, tasty gyro-meat, fresh vegetables and a delectable sauce. No, you won't be fooled into thinking you're in Athens or Istanbul or even Berlin. But this is really a welcome addition to the American Midwest -- and especially to my own small town.
Heck, it's even a good and healthy alternative to the chain of chains that otherwise dominates the 231 corridor! So, whether your a C'ville local looking for a bite to eat or passerby on your way to from Lafayette to Bloomington, the Parthenon is a great place to get some coffee, get some grub, and get back on the road.
PS - My coffee was the slightest bit cold ... so you might want to check that before you drive away. It was, however, very good for road-trip coffee.
