Past Times

Never again...  Came here under protest while in the area, when my friend insisted we stop here instead of my idea of visiting the awesomely bizarre  nearby oddity once known as The Upper Dock (more on that soon.).
  Things didn't look good from the onset, when we walked in to the site of a bar populated only by a rather unwelcoming looking group of surly bikers and a tap selection limited to bud, coors and the like, with the sole quality selection being a Sam Adams.  The fact that that that option Noble Pills wound up being actually pretty decent was the sole bright spot in a horrendous experience.
   The place was simply, intolerable in nearly every way.  Although I guess I should be grateful that we got out without getting in a fight, the crowd was boorish, and crude to the point of being borderline groutesque, and demonstrated the worst stereotypical behavior that could ever be attributed to any of us who are from Long Island or any of the other areas on the periphery of New York, with a unbearable musical soundtrack to match courtesy of the young female bartenders iPods (3doors down, nickelback, Disturbed, etc) to only add to the ambiance.
       When  we made the mistake of ordering food, specifically wings, we were perhaps predictably rewarded with pre-packaged nastiness, fried on the outside ice cold on the inside.   All of this would put the place in the sadly mediocre ranks of yet another depressing nowhere  Long Island dive.  What puts the place over the top and down into definitive one star territory was the revelation that occurred when the bill came.  On top of the fact that I was overcharged, which I only realized a little while after leaving in shock from the fact that the bartender, only when presenting the bill, let us know that the bar charges a 2 dollar fee for using a card to pay the tap.  Perhaps this is practiced elsewhere but I have yet to come across this, at least knowingly.  Nevertheless it would have been great to be told about this at the point when I was opening the tab, since it would have allowed us the blessing of getting out of here right away!   A terrible, repugnant place.

This bar served it's purpose. There were tvs and some good rock music playing. Good tap beers with sam adams summer ale. Also a pool table and juke box. I would go again

Dive Bar.

This is a dive bar from start to finish.  Big bar, skanky patrons and nasty bathrooms - what more could you ask for in a dive?

Decor is a mismatched hodgepodge of crap.   Bartenders are interestingly clad girls -

Good place to put back a few brews and think about where you are going next.

Parking is on the street.
