It was a wild Saturday Girls Night Out and Patria came through!   They have great cocktails (PINEAPPLE EXPRESS baby!) and the Ceviche appetizer was to die for.   For entree, I had the Pintado (fresh water Brazilian Fish) and I was happy!    My friends had the braised short ribs and the skirt steak - good as well.    We checked out both dance floors - packed but not too packed to dance and have fun.   I'll definitely be back!

Patria is my go to place for special dinners.  Their wait staff and management is some of the most attentive and professional around.  The food is decadent - my favorites include the carne asada tacos for an appetizer (which I could easily make a meal out of) and their steak done pretty much any way listed on the menu.  The atmosphere is as elegant or as casual as you want to make it, but always trendy.  The drinks are top shelf and truly made by a mixologist, not just another bartender.  Each dish and every drink is a piece of art itself.  Stay late and dance in either clubs - upstairs or downstairs - with a very hip, diverse, professional crowd.  Patria is definitely one of my favorite restaurants.

Very nice,  cool atmosphere, music, decor..never would think you were in Rahway.--Food was excellent,  drinks slightly overpriced.  No complaint on service,  although I'm certain we got the white sangria and not the red we ordered... did not matter as it was delicious.   Definitely will be going back. And we have to check out the nightclub!

Just a quick update: Went again with some girlfriends on a Friday night.  We sat by the bar area because the place was packed and I also assumed they had a private party there.....but anyways..I FINALLY got my plantains with guacamole and it did not disappoint.

But most importantly...the White Sangria Pitcher was delicious and a tad bit strong...just the way I like it!

I had been to this place before for Happy Hour only and it seemed pretty cool from the get up of the place and wanted to try their food although it appeared a little pricey from the Menu especially when it was not a BYO place.

Made reservation before hand and we were seated right away when we got there.

Pros:  Both mine & my date's entrees were delicious! The Steak was perfect!! The presentation as well as the taste was just outstanding! Good portion for a Glass of wine!

Cons:  Hated the Lighting at the dinner table. The LED light on top of the table points shines directly over the head. Just the candle on the table would have been good enough. The light really ruins the mood for a romantic dinner. Food was Pricey for a Central Jersey restaurant. Service was "good" although we felt a little rushed at the end of our dinner. As we were leaving we noticed there were people waiting to be seated.

I would definitely come back to this place and try their other dishes.

Received an Amazon Deal for a $50 voucher for $25 to Patria's, with 2 allowed per table. Thought this was a great deal (& my moms name is Patria so I thought it would be fun to take her to "her" restaurant). Made our reservation for Friday night at 7pm & verified voucher.
When we arrived, we were the first ones seated in restaurant area by the very pleasant hostess. I was honestly a bit concerned with the comments I saw here regarding the staff's rudeness but found everything to be the exact opposite. Our server, Salvador, was funny, & very friendly.... Chatted with us until our appetizers arrived about our old country. I don't think we got our waiter's name but he was VERY courteous & pleasant as well. As the night went in it got pretty busy & lively. The room we were in was full but our waiters were still very attentive & never rushed us to finish.

    We had:
    Pitcher of Red sangria
    Aps: Jalea
           Chicken & Sausage Cocas

    Entree: Ribeye steak
                Pinto (fish) w/ Bamboo rice
                Garlic Shrimp w/ Spanish potatos

    Dessert: Almond Joy
                  Coffee (espresso)

Everything we had was excellent! The Pinto dish with the bamboo rice was something new to me but I truly enjoyed it & would order it again. The steak was perfect! Loved dessert! Amazon vouchers accepted, so took $100 off our bill! All in all an excellent night!

I was a bit disappointed in Patria since I had been there before and it was great. If I could give a negative star I would. Since I had been here before on a date, I decided to go back with my girls on a Friday night.  Wrong move!  We arrived at around 9:30pm at which time we were seated right away.  We sat down and after a few minutes our waitress came by to pour water for the table.  No introduction as our waitress, no hello, nothing.  I even asked her if she was our waitress and she quickly nodded and disappeared.  Twenty minutes later (yes 20 minutes), she returned to ask us what we wanted to drink.  We ordered drinks and asked her about various items on the menu.  She did not have a clue about any of the dishes.  She could not describe anything.  She just nodded and shook her head. It was almost laughable! She took our appetizer order and after waiting another 20 minutes for a shrimp appetizer and a separate appetizer of mussels, she admitted that she forgot to put in the order of mussels. I told her not to bother since we should soon be receiving our entrees. As the night progressed the service became worse and worse. The Brazilian fish was a great presentation, but the taste was bland. The skirt steak was more like pepper steak with mostly onions and it was cold. The overpriced drinks were barely enough to call it one serving. The best part of the meal was the garlic shrimp appetizer.  We waited about 1/2 hour for the check and was about to leave since they took so long.  I felt bad for the waitress since she was the only waitress servicing 8 tables on a Friday night, so for this I blame management.  WORD OF ADVICE TO PATRIA MANAGEMENT:  You are not a Manhattan Club, so do yourself a favor and stop charging Manhattan style prices ($10 a drink/ $20 plus for an entree/$10 for valet parking) and if you are going to charge these exhorbitant prices at least have good food and good service!

All the food was really yummy.  We had a buffet style party set up.  Steak, chicken and salmon.  I would have given this restaurant 5 stars but they ran out of food pretty quick and really didn't want to refill the buffet.  It was a little embarrassing.
I want to come back and try it for dinner serving.

Loved the company I was with but the food and drink were subpar. Sangria both red and white were heavy with lemon. Typically I have experienced strawberries, apples, and pears in sangria. Maybe even oranges. The paella was mediocre. Seafood was fairly fresh but seasoning was nothing special. The pintado (fish dish) was not very tasty. The spinach infused rice was very cheesy and heavy but bland and the fish was dry. Only food I enjoyed was the free chips and salsa.

If yelp had an option to give 0 stars I would have picked that one (1 star is too generous)... Do not bother trying to plan a party at Patria; very unprofessional staff is handling this part of the business.  It has taken 2 weeks for people to get back to us just to give us information about the different offerings; at one point I called the operations manager and he advised he couldn't help me because he was about to leave on vacation. Complete waste of time; don't bother.

i heard about this place from a friend and what luck to get a groupon. i called to make reservations and confirm groupon and they asked me if its expired which i was puzzled by "how is it expired if the groupon was just put up" weird.

the service was good, the food was def good i feel the food is a bit over priced entree's and appetizer's.

    id def recommend this spot!

9/14/12 When I arrived I was greeted by the hostess with the mostest attitude.  She was rude, nasty and was quite irritated by our existence.  She was annoyed by the fact that we didn't have reservations.  She said it was a 45 minute wait and pointed to the bar.  The bar was busy but had 4 available tables.  After about 15 minutes a waiter asked us if he could help us.  We advised him we wanted to be seated but was told it was a 45 minute wait.  He said give me 5 minutes and sat us at the tables by the bar.

Other than that it was great.  Drinks are delicious, food was very good.  Everyone else was very friendly.  I loved the atmosphere, the vibe and the music.  I will try it again, hopefully without the attitude!!

Came here for a birthday dinner.. food was good.  A bit overpriced.  But for a Jersey place in the middle of random Rahway, it was not bad. The music and small dance area was cool. Music was good but then it got all techno which was awful.  Kind of Jersey crowd but that's unavoidable.  Downstairs has latin music.  Not bad for a Jersey place.

I went to Patria with my friend for dinner on a Friday night.  Although I made a reservation, it wasn't necessary because there were plenty of tables available.  I ordered the churrasco and my friend ordered the Patria Pork.

I enjoyed the churrasco- the seasoning was flavorful and the meat was tender.  The pork was very greasy and had a funky aftertaste- strange because our waiter highly recommended it.  Although my friend was disappointed with her meal, the staff was attentive and the ambiance made for a trendy dining experience, even in Rahway.

This place is uber fun and exotic and part of the resurgence of a great town like Rahway.  You feel like a rock star when you go there.  Top quality and hip environment.  Go have yourself a great evening.

Let me start off by saying, I would have given them 5 stars, but the waitress we had may me knock it down to four (i will explain later).
The ambiance is very nice, bathrooms were super clean (still smelled od cleaner, so that was a plus).
The food was great! Beautiful, fancy looking and delicious. We were a party of six, and all enjoyed our meals and appetizers very much.

Our waitress on the other hand wasn't as great..To begin, I made our reservation for a Sunday at 6 and stated that I would be using a Groupon.  The person taking the reservation said that she made a note of it...Fast forward, we get to the restaurant and as soon as we were seated I mention the Groupon and asked if she needed it before or after the meal. She says before, so I passed her my phone, at which point she tells me that she needs the print out of the Groupon, that they can not accept  the Smart Phone version. WHAT??? I specifically made sure to read the Groupon online and it said you could show it on your Smart Phone OR print it out... If they were going to change the rules, why not tell me this when I made the reservation.  I would have printed it at home and brought it with me, issue would have been avoided.  We asked if maybe they had a printer there that we could use, "no " she says with a blank stare, at which point I start getting upset. her reaction is to put her hand on my shoulder and tell me to relax, she would check with her manager. Another "why not" moment, why not offer that to me in the first place, but instead you just give me a blank stare, of course I'm going to start getting upset!!! She returns and tells me that her manager checked the groupon against a master list he has and it was fine...Really??? If he had a list, why upset me like that..ugh..why not just check it in the first place!!! When we placed our drink orders, i asked if we could place our appetizer order, but she tells me we have to place our entrees and appetizers together, HUH? I've never heard of that before, it seems like common practice at most restaurants... The rest of the night she seemed very fake when trying to seem nice..anything we asked wasn't just a yes or a no, she was hesitant almost like it was going to be an issue, but then she would do it and act as if she were looking us out.

The bus boy/person on the other hand
was very nice and attentive, he really made up for the waitress.

All in all I really like Patria, and would definitely be returning, but will be hoping for a different waitress.

I went to Patria last month with my boyfriend. I was all dolled and dazzled in my highest heels and newest outfit. You would think in Rahway, a place like this wouldn't exist! It's such a hidden gem.

The outside colors are what catches your eye first. As you drive/walk closer, you're able to hear the latin beats and upon entering, you're able to smell the delicious foods being freshly prepared.

I ordered a strawberry cilantro margarita- which was STRONG, but just the right blend of flavors. It literally knocked me on my feet (total lightweight). So obviously, I needed some comida in me to balance it out.

We had the calamari for an appetizer (and I'm so not a fish girl), but these were actually super! I also had a salad with avocado, corn, mixed greens, and tomatoes. The house dressing was amazing!

For the main course, I had seared scallops and shrimp with LOBSTER mashed potatoes. (Odd for a girl who doesn't like fish, right?) lol. My bf had the carne asada steak, yucca fries, and an arepa with a pineapple drink. The waiters were so attentive too. I can't say how much I loved the food and service! It's rare to find a place that actually gets 5 stars for both.

It's a bit on the pricey side, but you get quality food freshly prepared. (PS- It received 3 stars in NY Times...so it's up and coming!)

Next, I'll delve into the nightclub part. We saw the set up for the lounge part going on at around 10 PM. It was completely empty at that time, but between my marg buzz and the music, I was feeling it.

Music was a mix of techno, rap, hip hop, but then around 11 it turned to all this weird techno stuff. (NOT A FAN.) They also have a downstairs with all latin music, which is nice too. The bars aren't too crowded and drinks aren't too expensive if you get there before 11.

We left around 12 as I was acting like a Grandma and my feet were beginning to yell at me. But definitely, go and try it out. Good food. Great service!

    One of Rahway's hidden gems.

My friend and I went here for dinner and drinks on a Friday night; but apparently the bar gets crowded on Saturday nights. We decided to sit at the bar because there was a 30 minute wait for a table, and I'm glad we did because we made friends with the bartender, Peter! He served us drinks all night using the freshest of ingredients and best kind of alcohol (not cheap crap like Jose Cuervo).

The food was delicious, the drinks weren't watered down & the ambiance of the whole place made me feel at ease. If you want a romantic dinner for two, fun dinner out with the girls, or just amazing Cuban food, PATRIA is the place to be!

Great place to go on the weekend. Patria definitely keeps it classy and spins some great music for an awesome lounge experience. Above all, they have a great security staff and I didn't feel unsafe at any time

Three stars for the food (details below) and fourth star for the service.  Went with my girlfriend on a Friday night and overall enjoyed our experience there.

    What we ordered:

Drinks - Pineapple express and Watermelon mojito. Both were very good. The pineapple express was on the small side though.

Apps - Salmon ceviche was great. Skip the Arepas - they were disappointing.

Entrees - Sirloin Steak cooked medium rare with corn risotto was amazing. Pollo alla Plancha was bland/very plain. Might be the worst thing on the menu.

Dessert - Flan - could have eaten more than one of these - highly recommended.

The atmosphere was nice for a Friday night date. We will make it a point to go back.

Its a spanish restaurant, lounge and bar... The drinks are good specialty mojitos weren't bad at all and some other specialty signature drinks I have yet to try. The food presentation was good and the meals were delicious i was highly surprised to find that I enjoyed the meal here. I enjoy the atmosphere of the bar area so i have yet to dine in the restaurant area. Spanish lounge is downstairs which is very small and the lounge upstairs is much larger playing house music (they need to switch the lounge rooms). Go early and you don't get hit with a cover charge for the lounges or eat there and you don't have to pay.  Over all for a local dining place with a place to go dancing I'm a fan. The staff is friendly and helpful. I enjoy going during the weekday evenings when there is no dancing if i want dinner and just drinks no dancing because its much quieter.

We had reserved a table for dinner days in advance and were excited about trying this place out, especially after reading the recent review in the NY Times. We had to wait at least 1/2 hour for a table, and when we were finally seated, it was in a back room that definitely felt like an "overflow" room. Turns out it was. As we were half way through dinner, a DJ starts setting up, blasting loud music, empty tables were being dismantled and furniture was being moved around. The room was being converted into a club as we were eating dinner. There was definitely no consideration given to the diner's experience. Our waitress, who was lovely, assured us that this never happens. However, we only have last night to base our judgement on. Repeat customers are what keep restaurants in business. The table next to us were being told that they would have to move to the crowded bar area if they wanted dessert. How strange.
The focus was on quantity (of $) rather than quality of dining experience. Shame on them.

I must say the food here is great, by far the best tasting food in Rahway. However the Price is ridiculous. Let me start from outside and work my way in. During the day time you can just pull up in park. Well guess what its totally different at night. You have to Pay for valet parking. God forbid you didn't know this because once you pull in there is no reversing out. Next your seated, the drinks are strong, and the food are very tasty, But your definitely going to pay for it. It wont take long to finish eating your dinner. I would suggest you order two dinners per person, because one plate won't curve your hunger. Better yet eat before you go there. Maybe in Short Hills the size would be great. But this is a middle class community where people prefer more bang for their bucks. Besides that, this place is great, plenty of dance floor and lounge space.

I visited Patria on a Friday evening with three other girlfriends.  We arrived after 10:00pm and the place was relatively empty.  We were seated for dinner near the bar and initially it was a good spot.  The cocktail list was pretty impressive as it was created by Alex of Yerba Buena Perry who also recently started working at Theatre Bar in Tribeca.  Unfortunately, these Patria mixologists still need more training to make the cocktails as good as Alex does.  They may have his recipes, but they don't yet have his touch!

For dinner I ordered the Churrasco and subbed the potatoes for maduros.  The steak was perfectly cooked and very tasty.  It's too bad they dimmed the lights down very low and refused to brighten the place up because it made it hard to cut my steak and who wants to eat in the dark?  I can say that most of the other girls enjoyed their meals except for one who ordered a chicken caesar salad and thought it was too spicy and smelled too fishy.

Our waitress, Michelle, was lovely and overall it was a decent dining experience.

After dinner we headed to the lounge/dance area.  The place is very well decorated and appealing to the eye.  Upstairs is a big dance floor but the music is very Jersey Shorish.  Downstairs is a much smaller dance floor with seating and the DJ plays Latin music...so fun!  IT wasn't too packed at all, which is great!  But there is no bar downstairs, so you have to keep going back upstairs to get drinks which can get to be a drag.

Overall I had a nice time.  The cocktail menu is a plus, especially for a Jersey place.  The food was good and the place is just so pretty.  Good place to dance bachata and merengue.  Definitely a nice place to go for a date.

Agreed on the price comment. This is Rahway not manhattan. The place is very sexy, 3or 4 different rooms but it was $10 to park and $10 cover....don't know how long that will survive this area

I am a big fan of making Rahway lively but this place is a bit to expensive. The food was good. The decor looks great .I was not really impressed with the food service but i guess it was because there wasnt enough staff. It took us about and hour and half to get us our food. We had chiveche, the filet, rib eye, chicken and rice, scallops and paella. All the food was prepared very well. The alcohol was very expensive; almost like new york prices. Do not get the Margareta it is $10 for about three sips. I suggest getting a pitcher of sangria and or the mojito. After 10pm the place becomes a club, which is nice until it gets to packed. Go here for a good time but remember that you will make a hole in your valet .
