I recently ate at ATH for Saturday lunch. Â It was my 4th time here - other meals were all dinners. Â Once again, I left greateful for the existence of this lone beacon of good quality and creative food in my area.
A previous reviewer mentioned the suburban foodie wasteland of central-Northern NJ, which is a sad but true phenomenon. Â I lived my whole life in NYC (Queens, not even Manhattan) and moving to NJ was a culinary downgrade, to say the least. Â
This is the place that will restore your faith in food in NJ. Â Sad that there aren't more like it, but it is what it is. Â
I highly recommend the Kara's Mussel Pot, and pretty much anything on the menu. Â My party of 5 all enjoyed their entrees, and this was a very picky bunch. Â Excellent scallops, braised pork and tripe, and my fish of the day entree was amazing. Â Dessert was apple tart with roasted almond ice cream and chocolate flourless cake. Â These may sound boring but the execution was absolutely delicious - not too sweet. Â Espresso came with lemon rind, which was a nice authentic Italian touch.
