Cranford Restaurant Diner

Slightly below average diner.  The food was fairly bland and, as I recall, was not generously portioned.  Coffee was also fairly bland.  The decor is kitschy, even for a diner.

Not terrible, but certainly not my first breakfast choice in town.

Lived here for over two years and always passed this diner by. Didn't look great and seemed overpriced. Recently saw " under new management" and a menu filled with $9.99 complete dinner specials ( soup, salad, entree, dessert and coffee) so we decided to try it. We've been back twice a week since then. Food is great and the value is amazing. Items like Chicken Francaise are far better than most of the Italian restaurants around who charge $20 for a sub- par chicken dish.

Just happened to find this when we did a search in our GPS's database for diners.  

The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the diner was nice and quiet, everything was wonderful.  

I had the beef stroganoff, my girlfriend had the stuffed peppers.  The whole dinner with Salad, bread, drinks, and desert was $29.00 for two with enough food to take some home.  

They first brought out a little complementary appetizer with little pieces of Melba toast and a garbanzo salad.  

Then a tossed salad.  The salad was big, cold, with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, green peppers, etc...

The bread plate had two different varieties of bread, one with sesame seeds and one without, and it was FRESH.

The meals were large, the sides were large and FRESH  

For desert, she had the carrot cake and I had the chocolate mouse cake, both were FRESH.  

The service was fast and friendly.  

The next time we're in the Cranford area, we'll be eating there again.
