We have been here twice and have enjoyed it but the most recent time we came must have been senior citizen night because they overtook the restaurant. Â Yes, most dishes have more than a bit of garlic in them but we like garlic so we don't think it's overly done. Â We did not make reservations on this visit but did not have to wait very long even though the restaurant was fairly crowded. Â We usually enjoy the pitcher of sangria (red) with our meal. Â The big pitcher gives you about 5 glasses. Â We both enjoy the roasted garlic that you spread over the warm bread as you wait for your meal to come out. Â We ordered the Gnocchi, Hot Cherry Peppers & Sweet Italian Sausage for $18 and Whole Wheat Penne Pasta & White Truffle Oil Primavera for $17. Both were very delicious and the portion is large enough to doggie bag and enjoy for lunch the next day. Â We did not have dessert on this trip.
Review Source:True suburban legend that caters to people scared of the big bad city. Â Like big Italian families that never left their neighborhoods. Â Like couples too scared to drive into NYC. Â Like people afraid of taking the train into the city.
I HAD to try it.
* My three onion & garlic soup in a hollowed boule crust was redic deeeeelish
* My homegurl's garlic chowder was bath-worthy...like I'd like to fill my hot tub with it and drown
* My garlic caesar's salad with anchovies...wow, this salad was a champ...who woulda thought?
* My homegurl's salmon in mango sauce was light and it had a solid melange of flavors
So, yea...the food was good but the decor and abience...well...its the jerZ suburbs...you really can't get away from mediocrity.
BTW: Â It was like 90% old people...like 60-70 year old peeps chillin up in hea.
