Reviews for this place must be some kind of joke on yelp readers. Â I went there for lunch based upon the reviews. Â All I found was a dark, dank hole in the wall bar. Â I asked the bartender if there was a restaurant section, and she said no. Â There aren't even windows in front - look the address up on one of the map links. Â There was only one 70 year old guy at the bar, who gave me a blank look like I was an idiot for thinking I could get lunch there.
Review Source:I will write this review for "Hamiton's Tavern" as well. They are the same place with the same food. There is a bar side and restaurant side.
I decide to try this place because of the reviews I read here. This place is not on any main roads. I would never have heard of it, if I had not taken a wrong turn trying to go to another nearby tavern.
1st the beer selection. they have a 6 beers on tap, mostly domestic.
I had the burger, it was the best burger I have had in the area, but not in NJ. It was served on a toasted english muffin with fries. definitely worth the the price.
My wife had a "Catfish Po' Boy that was off the hook! A huge piece of catfish and a great sandwich.
The restaurant has a country decor feeling to it and the bar has a regular after work Jersey feeling. The atmosphere is completely different. But the menu is the same. the kitchen separates the two.
We definitely be back to this place this summer and sit out side on the wood patio.
I went to Po' Boys for the first time a few weeks ago. Â I'll start with the ambiance. Â It is a very casual and clean, with a touch of a country aesthetic. Â The service was excellent, our server was very attentive and friendly, but not overbearing. Â She gave us great recommendations on what to order. Â
On the the food. Â It is DELICIOUS! Â Our group of four settled on fried pickles and poutine for appetizers. Â The pickles were crispy and tangy, with hint of dill. Â The poutine was exactly what I hoped it would be, a plate full of cheesy, gravy, french fries. Â Perfection! Â For entrees, we each had some type of sandwich/po' boy. Â Everyone raved about their meals. Â The serving sizes were huge and we all pretty much took home left overs.
Overall, if you are looking for some home cooked style comfort food, this place is it. Â I highly recommend it.
