This review might not seem fair but I drive out 20 miles to try this place out on a weekend to find out that they don't open until 5pm. What kind of pizza joint opens at that time of a night? Seems odd but I guess people do have weird opening hours. I will update my review once I'm able to make it back out. Until then, I still feel that opening at 5pm is way too late!
Review Source:Came here last Thursday with some friends because they have never been to a sool-jeep, or have ever had soju, ummmm or have ever had korean food - ever. Â we walked in at 9pm and it was empty except for one other table of two people.
i was not a fan of the atmosphere. Â it had quiet k-ballads playing in the background, football and kpop videos playing on the tv. Â stuff on the tv was ok but i was expecting energetic music. Â the waiter/host seated us but never came back. Â in fact, anytime i needed anything i buzzed him. Â which is okay, but i kinda would like that waitstaff come to check on me every once in awhile.
we looked at the menu and it looked great! Â my friends were super interested about the pizza. Â the idea of bulgogi pizza sounded so delish EXCEPT they didn't have it! Â the waiter said "i know how to make it, but i don't really make it you know?" ummm ok... Â whatevers. Â ok, so i ordered my fave, chum-churum soju. Â too freaking bad Crystal, they don't have it. Â so i just ordered regular soju and a pitcher of hite. Â the hite was not that cold. Â highlight of the night was the extremely hot and crispy chicken wings and sweet potato fries. Â we ate that up so fast. Â we ordered another pitcher but we regretted it - we just wanted to leave! Â the atmosphere was killing our energy. Â
i'll come back again sometime later... way later when they've really established themselves and actually have everything that they list on their menu.
really wanted to like the place. Â the tustin/irvine areas need more izakayas and sool-jeeps. Â =/
P.S. Â rolled over to honda ya and the night was redeemed.
I can't remember why I have been to this shopping plaza before...tenants include a small dinner theater, OC kosher, a small Indian market, an asian karaoke joint and now the Peach Factory. Â I've got to say, in this strip mall that is so diverse, the Peach Factory is a perfect fit.
So what is Peach Factory? Â They don't produce peaches or even dessert really...not to confuse you but the do make pie though, pizza pie! Â Peach Factory is a restaurant featuring Korean fusion, with bulgogi topped pizzas and KFC. Â Yes, Korean Fried Chicken! Â The food is similar to what you used to find at Pizza & Chicken Love Letter, featuring all of the classics like thousand island and sriracha covered slaw to start, bacon wrapped quail eggs, spicy chicken with cheese, an more...but they have quite a few unique offerings like their Peach BBQ Chicken Pizza with it's crispy tortilla thin crust topped with chicken & peaches. Â The owner told me and i can confirm, its even better than it sounds...sweet, but not too sweet, and then that thin crispy crust. Â It was great, but different from any Korean pizza Ive ever had (it's fair to say I've had quite a few). Â They also have new chicken calbi pizzas and several gizzard and spicy intestine appetizer options to keep your date entertained. Â If that doesn't work, you can always grab a 2000cc pitcher of Hite or some yogurt soju to mix it up.
The decor is pretty simple, with one LCD TV showcasing K-pop videos and the other sports. Â It's kind of nice, when it's just ESPN highlights, without distraction, you can focus on the people you came in with...your friends, your date, whoever you're with, enjoy your time a the Peach Factory, pour that pitcher of Hite, and celebrate your time together. Â Good times!
