Was meeting up for drinks before going to an event and blindly picked this bar based on location. As I got close to the building I saw a sign on it that said "bikini bartenders" and  then realized that this place was going to be interesting. It definitely didn't have a welcoming decor with the metal reinforced doors, lack of windows, and aged cinder block. As a good dive bar should be it was dark and musky smelling but surprisingly clean on the inside. My girlfriend was waiting for me at the bar with the appropriate drink of choice at such an establishment, busch light in a bottle for only $1.50 served by a bartender in nothing but a bra and panties. I didn't hate the place but it's not what I was looking for at 5:30pm on a Monday. I might return but only for a bar crawl
Review Source:I've been here for lunch a couple times. Both times, the service has been good and the food just fine. Basic and affordable. If you're looking to change it up and you spend a lot of time on Plymouth Road (you poor bastard), this might be worth checking out.
Darts, yes. Pool table, no.
Ahhh the good old Penalty Box! I have been going here for years, mainly to see my friends' assorted bands.
3 stars only because a lot of nights when it's busy, it can be very difficult to get a drink. Also, drink prices are kind of much in my opinion. Not $9 beer or anything, but I don't often see drink specials. Â I am not a huge fan of paying cover BUT when bands are there, there is usually a cover, and it's usually no more than a few bucks. Â I believe one night a week there is karaoke.
Food is typical greasy bar food, chicken fingers and burgers and stuff. They don't generally keep the fryers and grill open too late either, forcing you to hit a greasy spoon after your drunken stupor ends.
Bathrooms have been remodeled the last few years and are much better than they used to be.
Crowd is often blue-collar local mixed in with band followers....age range I'd say late 20's to late 40's.
All in all, I have had many great times in this bar and know I will ultimately be back. It's a good place to go if you like fun local music. Not all of the bands are going to be on the cover of Rolling Stone tomorrow or anything, but who cares. Not me! Many are cover rock bands which I love for sheer familiarity with the songs, or original bands who throw in a cover or two.
Not a bad place to go if you want to check out some local music, get drunk, and maybe even shake your booty a little.
Keno, pull tabs, darts. I think there is a pool table or maybe there used to be. Wait staff is most often female, sometimes scantily clad, and service can range from really good and friendly down to blehhhh. It's the luck of the draw really.
