Phil's is like stepping back into the past, when Alan Ladd was making his movie in South Chicago in the 40's. Â You will see everyone in there from yachtsman and Bank VP's to the blue collar workers and kids in the hood lookin' for a cheap burger. They have the baby Monster Burger for $1.49 with fries. Â Great breakfast food, real Gyro's and the special is 3 for $10.00. Â You have to try it, but just pretend you are on vacation in a small town, when in reality, you are in Chicago. Â Near Calumet Park, 95th Blues Brothers Bridge and not far from the Skyway. Â Enjoy...
Review Source:I am proud to say i was a part of the Phil's Kastle era...i worked there in the 80's and loved my job...I felt like i was surrounded by family, especially while i worked with Joyce, Phil's wife. So i was told she passed in the 90's I was heartbroken, although it is true about the freshness and originality in the foods Phil prepared. The breakfast was like eating a home made being the "Big Boy'' or just a bowl of grits or oatmeal or just a simple cup of coffee with a donut or toast...we treated everybody like family...the gyro sauce and fries were homemade...DELICIOUS! Although i haven't been there for quite a few years, I'm sure nothing has changed.
Review Source:Note the American flags flown in front of this Kastle. Â Worn, torn, faded beyond recognition with only 30% of their original glory. Â On Veteran's Day 2010 I took the time to educate the staff about the proper disposal of these flags and why a flag needs to be retired when it can no longer fly ...No respect.
