Hidden gem of Reading. Not in the best part of town, but may be the best atmosphere and food.

Lynna gave great recommendations and top notch service. Will be back!

It took my boyfriend probably about a year to convince me to have a try at this joint. I don't like the reading area, and I didn't like the fact that this place doesn't have booths (I am very weird).

Finally, I agreed. And I am so glad that I did! The food was ridiculously good - I mean REALLY good, probably one of the very best in Reading. The prices cannot be beat, it's very inexpensive for the quality of the food.

The beer list is awesome also! They have all different specialty beers brewed in and around the Reading area. Also - a big reason I mentioned earlier that I never really wanted to visit this establishment was because of the area, itself.

The other great thing about this place is they have a huge completely lit parking lot two feet from the front door. It is COMPLETELY lit and when you go inside, you can see they have security cameras set up all over it. That made me feel much better about visiting, and even though I just gave in 2 weeks ago to TRY this place...we have already been there twice, and we will continue to do so. This might become our new "go-to" Friday night spot!

This place is terrible. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, there are maybe 8 people at the bar, yet it took the bartender 15 minutes to serve us our first round of drinks. After another 15 minutes we had to flag the bartender down yet again for a refill. We also asked for a menu which she never gave us so we had to locate our own. I heard such great things about this place, but after our visit today we will not be returning. If this is how they run their business when they are slow, I would hate to see them busy. Save yourself the effort and go somewhere else.

I stopped in the Pike for the first time in over 10 years (moved out of town). I had been craving the wings ever since I moved. It was a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of room for our group of 6. The food was good and the drinks were cheap. I don't know if the wings were as good as I remember but they were still good. My only complaint was that our server seemed a little overwhelmed with too many tables. There were a few times we had trouble flagging her down for drinks. Oh well, we had a good time.

Great bar food and drinks. nice, well-lit atmosphere - not a dive bar.

I love the Pike.  As hard as this place tries to be a bar, it is a fantastic restaurant.  They have their own well-lit parking lot, so no worries about being in a city neighborhood.  They always have great specials, the bar food is good, the fancier food is good - even the salads are great.  Service is friendly and the food comes out quick.  Get reservations - it's usually crowded!

Reading has YET to serve me good food.

Chicken Amanda was horrible. The presentation was awful and it looked very unappetizing.
Maine lobster burger- barely hot, garbage overall

VERY DISAPPOINTING- As per usual in this town...

What a gem.  In what appears to be a run-down, unsafe neighborhood, stands this well appointed and clean bar/restaurant with amazing food.  The bar tender is quite attentive and friendly and the food selection is quite good.  Of the many TV's on the wall, one has a video stream for the under-cover parking lot area thats keep a watchful eye on the vehicles.  Make sure to park there especially at night as opposed to on-street.

I have been here several times for lunch. It is a good crowd that is sports bar oriented, but can serve well for a casual business lunch. The crab bisque soup is great and the quality food is in good portions with pleasant and prompt service by the staff. I enjoy going to the Pike for the food, relaxed atmosphere, fast service and will continue to go when in town! Keep up the great work!

The Pike Café is a great sports bar and restaurant in the city. It's bigger than it looks from the outside. Unlike many city establishments, parking is easy as they have their own large parking lot across the street.

Huge bar and lots of table seating as well. Lots of TVs as you would expect from a sports bar.

I love their chicken wings. Their "hot" wing sauce is unique as it has a tasty mustard based element.  Worth a try.

Solid food , late night menu , good beer specials and selection. Bartenders are fast and professional. Sports bar on steroids , if you like to watch tv there are plenty. Very brightly lit inside and out in the parking lot. Late night food and spirit that is consistent .

The Pros, good parking, lots to drink, lots of TV. Food is done right. Not typical bar food.
The Cons, neighborhood at nite, bar swearing that you hear at the back of the rest, "world famous" seriously, no one outside of Berks county has heard of this place, decor tacky, It is a bar first not a rest.

My GF and her ex use to come here all the time i am told. He loved it. Compared to chain rest they have variety on the menu. The chef and cooks know their jobs, they deserve better. The person that creates the meals??? Well chef Ramsey and others would have a field day with their menu. Who takes a 25 steak and buries it in an iffy hollandaise sauce in a bar atmosphere. I took that meat home, washed it, refried it and it was divine. Ok to be fair I am not gourmet. Sometimes they just go overboard on the combos and the menu is overloaded which makes me wonder how fresh are they. It is like gourmet food in a bar.Must have a huge freezer. While the food is good and done right I still feel sometimes for the overall experience they charge to much. Don't order a drink with your meal, watered and overpriced. Order a bottle, tap, wine etc.

The floor is linoleum and that makes for a lot of noise. The resturant sits right next to the bar and it is a big bar so that was not a pleasant exp on 2 of the 3 visits. The dress code is Wal-Mart. The kids are out of control. Lets face it, it is a bar, inner city, not a restaurant. It is one of the better places menu wise but the rest of it ruins it for me. For it to be 4 - 5 stars they have to separate the two.

I don't live in Reading, but have a lot of family there and I love to go to Pike Cafe whenever possible on my visits.

Many times I have gone with just my husband and 2 kids and other times with a large extended family group.  Each time, regardless of the party size I have always felt well taken care of and have always had a great time.

The decor and atmosphere is great, the whole place is very inviting and I do love a place with oh so many TV's.  The many expansions over the years are all well done and make Pike Cafe better and better!

The menu really knocks my socks off every single time.  Not only is the food fantastic, but each time I'm very please/excited/delighted with the incredible variety on the menu.  It is really amazing to me that there is such variety and every single thing I've had off the menu has tasted great!

Yes, there is certainly an extensive beer and drink menu, which is great...but I think of Pike Cafe as mostly a place to enjoy the surroundings, atmosphere and my family.

I am not from Reading, however I just began working at Reverb, a live entertainment venue that's a 25 second walk from The Pike...When I walked in, I was blown away by the atmosphere.

The area of Reading where The Pike & Reverb reside unfortunately has a bit of a bad stigma...but with the way these two places have been re-vamped and overhauled, you can see a drastic change is in the wind.

The Pike has a large, well-lit and camera-heavy parking lot, which is the first thing you see on the TV screens when you walk in...your car! In addition, there are countless televisions to watch just about every sporting event that exists, yet not overwhelmingly feeling like a sports bar in itself.

They maintain a great balance of atmosphere at the pike. It's not necessarily 'upscale', where you have to dress up like a high-end sports bar/restaurant, but you wouldn't be looked at like a martian if you did.

I go there on a regular basis with my boss from Reverb, it is our staple for food when we put in a long, hard days work of booking live entertainment. Yesterday when we went, his 4yr old daughter came along with us and was given a lollipop before we left. Great family atmosphere in the restaurant area, combined with an adult atmosphere at the bar area.
    Food selection-Great
Beer selection- Great and then some.

Get yourself a Blue Moon to compliment their Prime Rib sandwich and you'll be in heaven, my friends...

I have been to Pike Cafe only a few times, but it is a Reading, PA standby. Wonderful selection of beers on tap- I enjoyed a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat which you rarely see on tap. AMAZING place to watch football because they have the NFL Sunday Ticket, and have EVERY game on.

What a great sports bar/restaurant.  If your looking for a bit of a different menu to try this is the place.  Watermelon salsa on blacken grouper, wow!!  Was that great!  Something new on the menu every time we go.  And if your into sports then there's no better place to have a great unique dinning experience while watching your favorite team than at the "Pike".

This is one of the few places in Reading that seems to acknowledge the danger of stepping outside after dark. I used to frequent this place when it was a tiny corner bar. I think I stopped going when someone got shot in the head and died on a neighboring doorstep. Somehow I find myself there when I visit family in Reading and every time I go there are improvements. The lights in the new-ish parking structure are bright enough to give you a tan, and the parking lot next to the garage is also well lit. I stepped outside with a friend who wanted to smoke a cigarette and we were almost immediately approached by a man who we determined to be a homeless crack addict asking for a cigarette. Out of generocity and fear my friend gave him one only to have said crack addict take one drag and throw it in the street while walking away muttering barely distinguishable vulgartity. If you stay inside the crowd isn't too bad. There are a surprising number of older couples and families for dinner and they had a decent blues band playing in the corner. As a matter of fact they were playing in a corner that was the neighbor's living room the last time I had been there. My biggest complaint about this place is that I ordered a vodka soda and the bartender didn't know what I meant. He learned something that day. If you are going to go out for a drink in Reading and are concerned about your safety, this is the place I would recommend.
