Update time! So I went to Pints with the BF a few weeks ago. We were craving the Pot Roast Nachos and decided instead of just talking about how awesome they were, we would just go and get some. We got there and the bar and room area were packed. Not sure where to sit, we stood for a few minutes until one of the waitresses mentioned the patio. So we wandered back to the patio and damn, I totally did not realize it was that big and enclosed. Wonderful. We both got the AngryOrchard cider ($4) and it's so much better than when we get the bottles. We split a large order of nachos, and I got a cup of chicken tortilla soup. It was super delicious. Our waitress was nice and attentive but not pushy, since we were relaxing and enjoying our second glass of cider. We'll back be, sooner rather than later this time.
Review Source:I was in town visiting for a few days and this place was recommended via Yelp as fun sports bar. The one thing I wasn't aware of the is that it's small and the only sports bar for a few miles, so there are many visitors to this establishment, especially on a game night (We were there during a Bulls and Blackhawks game showings. The place was packed and doesn't really have extra space around that allows for you to have a drink or mingle. You have to race for an open seat at the bar or a table. We did and it was so dirty from a couple of messy kids that left stuff both table top and all around underneath.
The service was reasonable, beers were delivered quick and cold. We order some appetizers, ones also recommended on Yelp. The Nachos are piled with a pulled pork that seems to have been stewing in a bbq sauce, so they were a bit too sweet. We also had the sweet potato fries, which were served cold and had a side of syrup for dipping. Not that tasty. the final were the buffalo wing. The wings were typical, but did get hot
I am upgrading Pints to 5 stars because after comparing it to the other pubs in town, it is clearly the best. Â They have great food, a stellar beer selection, great atmosphere and solid friendly service. Â Not sure what else you could ask for. Â I frequent Pints all the time for drinks and actually for casual businesses lunches in Elmhurst. Â I've been there with my buddies for beers and my family for lunch. Â It's become my GO TO pub in Elmhurst. Â Keep it up Pints!
Review Source:Good for beer but that's all.
Went in on a sat night for some beer and bar food.
Beer was super cold and yum! Thus why 3 stars.
Ate:
1) sweet potato fries: normal, nothing unusual and they are served with syrup! WTF?
2) Pot Roast Nachos: yum, but cold :(
3) Buffalo wings: too hot for me, wing loving friend said they were savory but almost too hot.
Honestly all 3 stars are for the super cold beers only.........
What can I say about Pints? Â Forget about the Cool atmosphere with plenty of big screens for your sports viewing enjoyment... Forget about the Great drink specials... Â Forget about the Absolute BEST Burgers in town... Forget about the Outstanding selection of craft beer... Â Okay, Okay, Â you can't easily forget those things can you?! Â However, the best part of Pints is the remarkable service. Â I can only comment on the bar (I can not attest to table service as I always belly-up), but damn son... These Bartenders know their craft. Â Always greet you with a smile, Always quick with your drink, Always make the right recommendation. Â My favorite bar in Elmhurst!!
Review Source:When friends come in from out of town, if we're going somewhere really nice there are a number of options. Â If we're just hanging out and want some great bar food, then we come here. Â There are other places in town, but Pints is great. Â Beer list is extensive, tons of TVs like people said, bloody's are perfect, and personally the salmon burger or the spicy chicken (I forget the names) are my favorites. Â Staff has always been great with me and my friends / family.
Review Source:If you like sports, food and having a good time then you should definitely come to Elmhurst and have a pint or two or three even. The food is very good and the atmosphere will keep you coming back. Great outdoor space, even in the winter! If you haven't been here then you don't know what you are missing.
Review Source:If you're going to go to a sports bar, you want to be able to watch some sports on TV, right? Pints is big and full of TVs, so you're all set if you come here. If you're going to hang out at a restaurant for a few hours you want to have enjoyable beverages and food too, right? Again, Pints has you covered. They have drink specials, a good variety of beer and other drink options, and tons of burgers. They have things besides burgers too, like salads and wraps, but I was in a burger mood to go with my beer, so I got "The Cheerleader," the vegetarian black bean burger. It was great, and very filling. I didn't try my meat-eating friends' dinners, but they all said their food was good too!
Review Source:Nice sports bar, that has plenty of different beers and TVs. As for food, I had the baked pretzels that came with cheese and honey mustard. It was a pretty good pretzel, buttery and had very slight hint of something I can't quite put my finger on (maybe garlic?) but it's kind of hard to screw up a pretzel. I also tried the Boilermaker Burger, it was pretty good. It was topped with provolone, applewood smoked bacon and Boetje's Mustard (I have never heard of it before). It's a very grainy mustard and has a little kick to it, definitely stronger than your standard yellow mustard. I will post more when I try the other burgers. I will definitely be back!
Review Source:Pints is pretty cool. I mean, its just a sports bar, but it has a really great vibe, decent beer list, and a ton (I mean a TON) of TV's which is all I need from a sports bar. We ordered some drinks and an app and watched the game for a bit. Bell's Best Brown is the beer of the month for $4 this January, so I was pretty pumped. The fried mac and cheese was pretty good - nice and creamy - but to be honest I'm not sure if they had been frozen or if they were fresh (leaning toward frozen). Plus they didn't come with a dipping sauce (boo!).
The staff was great at keeping our drinks filled and staying on top of us even though we ordered apps and waited for a long time before actually ordering dinner. Usually when you do this you need to flag down the waiter who is half ignoring you by this time. Not here - they checked every time someone was low on a drink and just seemed to appear when we merely glanced toward the stack of menus on our table.
I ended up just getting the chopped salad as it had been a weekend full of heavy food and beer already, but I was glad I did. It was really delish. I know chop salads are supposed to come all divided up to look pretty, but they had it all mixed together and it was appreciated at that point. I could just dig in! My husband got the Buckeye burger (although it broke my heart that he'd order something named after Ohio State) which was really quite good. The couple we were with got the blackened chicken sandwich (the Legend or something I think it was called?) which was probably my favorite out of everything and the Cheerleader which was a black bean burger. For some reason I don't think I tried the black bean burger, but I think she said it was pretty good. I did steal some of her sweet potato fries which were so good! ...just easy on the dipping sauce that comes with it as it is intense...and I'm not sure how necessary it really is.
The food isn't anything overly amazing, so don't come here solely for that. However, I would HIGHLY recommend this place to watch the game or just to hang out with some friends...and while you are here if you are hungry get that chicken sandwich... Yum!
If you're like me and don't care for BWW (rising prices / decreasing food) then hit up Pints when you're in the mood to go out and watch some games.
Start off with the pot roast nachos. You will not be disappointed. Tender pot roast that's cooked right, fresh ingredients, they are so good.
After nachos you really can't go wrong no matter what you're in the mood for. The BBQ chicken salad is delicious. The burgers and sandwiches are served on pretzel rolls and you have your choice of chips, fries (waffle) or sweet potato fries. I always go with the waffle fries because there's just something about seeing a potato cooked differently that makes it taste so much better than just regular ol fries. I've had a few of the burgers. My favorite is the Illini burger. Maybe I'm biased, but it's the best. The MVP is pretty rockin' as well. If you're not in the mood for a burger they also have other options. I'm partial to the turkey club.
Their draft selections change from time to time coinciding with the season per every other bar. They have about 20 beers on tap which is pretty nice, but you won't find many craft beers here just the standards (Miller, 312, Sam's, Blue Moon).
Pints is a solid choice no matter what the occasion. Great food, good service, full bar. Families welcome.
My husband and I met friends here for dinner Tuesday night. All we knew is that we'd be in Elmhurst; no one had any idea where to go. I whipped out my phone, pulled up my life-saving Yelp app, saw Pints, suggested it.....I am the hero!
There was much more to our night, but I personally feel the most important info is in that first paragraph. But feel free to read on....
We liked Pints very much. Service was friendly. Great beer list. My husband, my friend's husband, and I ordered hamburgers. My friend got the buffalo chicken wrap or some such nonsense. Thanks but no thanks.....when you see the burger menu with your own eyes you'll understand. There are about ten on the list, all named after Big 10 schools, each one so creative! My husband ordered the Hawkeye Burger (natch), our friend got the Badger Burger, and I......I risked it all and went with the Go Blue Burger. I say "risk", as my husband hates U of M with an undying passion. I tried my best to whisper to our server what I wanted but the husband was reading my damn lips and staring divorce daggers into my skull. Anyway, forget him. Because it was a DAMN good burger! A generous sprinkling of blue cheese crumbles, bacon, and caramelized onions on top of a perfectly cooked patty all lovingly tucked into a plush, soft pretzel bun? Flag that as APPROPRIATE. Served with sweet potato fries, which were pretty ok. Everyone enjoyed their meals, including buffalo-chicken-wrap girlfriend. We all split a dessert of vanilla ice cream topped with caramel-maple sauce and BACON crumbles. Real bacon, mind you. My only suggestion for this is to cook the bacon until it's super crispy. It was a little chewy as it was sitting on top of ice cream but other than that, it was fantastic. We'll definitely be going back! Even if I am again banished to sleep on the couch just because of my burger choice. F**K IT............
A group of us came to Pints for lunch on Feb 25, 2012. We had 90 minutes for lunch - everyone ordered burgers or a sandwich...our food took almost 50 minutes to come out. Mind you, there were NO MAJOR sporting events in TV. When we complained to the manager - she actually BLAMED us for coming there on a Saturday! She said she'd take care of some of the items on our bill - she didn't. The food was ok, but the service was horrible! I can pay $11 for a burger at 5 guys & get better (& much faster) service!
I won't be going back purely based on the bad attitude & incompetency of the manager!
My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to eat dinner before going to see a movie at York Theatre and saw the mostly good reviews for Pints, so we decided to give it a shot. Pints has an outdoor patio area as well as tables indoors. Since it was pretty hot, we opted to eat inside. This is a seat yourself place (at least it was for us) so don't go searching for anyone to do it; they'll probably see you.
If you name yourself pints, my hope is that you'd have some good beers on tap and thankfully they did. They have the usual domestics, but they also have some crafts available, with beers from Two Brothers, Goose Island, Bells, Rogue, etc. A lot of their craft beers come in bottles, but they do have a fair share on tap. Their food menu is pretty decent. Their burgers are named after the Big 10 schools and they all seem pretty yummy. The burgers come on a pretzel bun which surprisingly, I've never had before but it was good. It gives the burger a little extra flavor
This seems like a great place to come and watch a game. They have several TVs and a good amount of space. They're open til 1 or 2am depending on the night, so I would come back here to hang out with friends and drink some good beer. Oh and just an FYI, if you're looking for parking, there's a garage right across the street that is free after 5pm so take advantage of that!
I assume Pints is targeting the Elmhurst collegian crowd, as the theme is all Big 10 schools athletics.
Fairly solid beer list to appeal to most clientiele, Miller, to Goose, to Bell's, to 2 Bros.
Fairly solid burger list, named after the Big 10 mascots. Â I had the one with the green olives on it, can't think of the mascot name. Â Nice and juicy. Â soft pretzel bun (which are notorious for going stale). Â Standard waffle fries were good.
Farily solid bar food.
I will say, the sandwich named for the Penn State Nitany Lions was very poorly named, expecially considering recent events there. Â Its named the 'Nitany Lion Pork Tenderloin'. Â They might want to rethink this one.
Contrary to most Yelpers, I wanted NOT to like this place; however, the burgers and staff surprised me yesterday and earned an update.
On my previous visit, I was greeted with a clientele that looked more at home on the Jersey shore than a bar in Elmhurst and service just shy of awful. Being Sunday, Bigby's Pour House was closed for the day, but I still needed a place to cool off with a beer and some grub after a brutal day at the driving range. Complete 180. The Illini burger, which consisted of a buffalo burger, blue cheese, and balsamic onions, was served with sweet potato fries. DELICIOUS. My burger was cooked perfectly (surprisingly hard to find) and served on an awesome pretzel roll. The sweet potato fries were also amazing and served with a unique maple syrup based sauce that both surprised and really impressed me.
The biggest improvement this time around was the service. We had the most attentive waitress I have seen in a long time. Our food came out hot, fast, and delicious. Our water never ran out. Our beers were refilled right as we finished them, and we immediately received our check when we requested it. Perfect service.
I will most likely stop here again when I need a great burger and a good draft.
Let me pimp this review.
Pimpin' in 100 degree heat gets tiring, especially when rockin' this custom fur coat. So I called it an early day and found a cool place to recharge and get this pimp game back on track before I start servin' them johns like a boss.
The menu here is legit enough to keep the tricks guessin'. I ordered a Stone IPA on draft. Of course IPA stands for "I Pimp Authentically." The young cat daddy behind the bar took awhile to acknowledge this pimpin'. I was fixin' to give him the bottom b***h treatment. Playa thought better of it and I ordered my burger with garlic mayonnaise, bacon, cheddar cheese and a fried egg. They call it the "buckeye". Relax freaks, that's just the name of the burger. But if you lookin' fo' a girl that does the buckeye, the buckwild, the buckcherry, the hustlebuck, then holla 'atcha boy. A-heh-heh.
Now I ain't jivin' y'all. This is one of the better burgers I've had in and around Chicag-ho. Just like my girls, this is some of the freshest tasting local meat you can find. Think im wrong? Too bad. It's my way or the dead way, playa. Pints is for pimps. They knockin' the dust off this hustle, ya feel me?
Playas gotta eat and drink and this is the place to get ya hustle on, homie. I guarantee you playas will leave with your pimp hand stronger than ever.
Get ready to enforce straight guerrilla pimpin' thanks this P.I.M.P - ology at Pints.
It's so hard to find a Great burger. Â Every place a burger, lots of places have good burgers, but Pints burgers are outstanding.
Local beef is the key, garnishes are fresh, pretzel roll is fresh, tots are awesome and their beer list is perfect to find a complementing match for any of their burgers, but isn't overwhelming (so a beer snob might feel shorted).
Real fun atmosphere and you won't leave hungry.
Came here with a local friend about 2 months ago and I think I've been back at least once every other week since then.
The weather has been beautiful so I'm yet to even stay on the inside of the bar, but walking through it, I love the setup. Very long bar, lots of seats, and tables lining the walls as well with additional seating. Plenty TV's for watching the games, very clean, I like it.
But the part I've been enjoying is the outdoor patio. There are individual tables with seats as well as couch/booth style seating lining the permiter of the patio area, pretty cool. To top that off, there are three big screen TV's outside (with awnings to block the glare of the sun) so you can enjoy TV while you're outside as well, VERY cool.
The food is great as well. I usually endup ordering 3 or 4 appetizers and my favorites so far are the chips & queso, and the fried macaroni n cheese. Neither one has yet to disappoint me.
The staff has been on point as well. Younger, upbeat servers, very friendly and suggestive. Maybe it's because I tip so well? Hmmm... Nonetheless, great service :)
I like the location as well. There's plenty of parking on York Rd, as well as the two side streets behind Pints (my secret parking), as well as a parking garage and parking lots. So that's never an issue.
Surrounded by other bars and restaurants in case you're meeting friends or want to go elsewhere, it's very convenient.
I will definitely frequent this place throughout the summer.
Attentive waitstaff and great beer on tap.
I've been here with a large group, and again with just a coworker. They take care of big and small groups alike. Service is attentive and they know what they are doing.
The pot roast nachos were a pleasant surprise-literally. Someone else in my group ordered them, and I had no idea they were POT ROAST until I ate one. Delicious!! They have the usual suspects when it comes to beers, but they also have some great other brews (Oberon FTW)
Want a drink in Elmhurst? I recommend this place over all others. Just make sure you're walking home, as drinking outside with the retractible roof has a way of helping you "forget" just how many you've had.
So far, this is my favorite bar in Elmhurst. Â I'm not sure if that is a compliment or not considering that the other bars I have reviewed in Elmhurst are total crap, but unlike those other bars, I would come back here. Â
As long as you pour craft beer in my mouth, I'm pretty happy, so I don't really pay much attention to the ambiance but for those of you that do...the "look" is a mix between an Irish pub and a sports bar. Â Typical. Â
On to what I DO pay attention to: Â Beer and burgers. Â Pints has a pretty good beer list. Â There was actually enough craft beer goodness here that I had trouble deciding what to get, which is usually a task. Â And the food is good too. Â I had the Go Blue Burger (bacon, caramelized onions, blue cheese, pretzel bun) and it was pretty awesome. Â A little overcooked, but I'll be damned if it wasn't good anyway.
The place is also clean, it isn't crawling with idiots (bonus!), and has pretty good service (MOST of the time). Â If I have to choose an Elmhurst bar, I choose Pints.
Took advantage of Yelp's Passport to Elmhurst for Pint's BOGO burger/sandwich deal. Had it not been for a night out with Yelpers at a UYE and such a great food deal, I probably would never have visited Pints. Â
I really wanted to sit out on the patio and enjoy the nice weather, but all the tables were taken. Â I'm told that on weekend nights, getting there by 430/5pm is a must if you want a table for a group in their beirgarten. Â The tables in front on the sidewalk are a nice option for dining outside too. Â After having a burger, I'm sure to come back and next time, al fresco it is.
Our group split a bunch of appetizers--the buffalo wings, the loaded waffle fries and the pot roast nachos. I liked the Buffalo wings the best but would still probably skip all of it in future visits and just concentrate on the burgers. Because those burgers are delish.
I tried the Buckeye Burger--oh and I love how the different Burgers all have Big 10 names. Â The Buckeye had bacon, cheddar, garlic mayo (a must if you like garlic!) and a fried egg. Â All with a pretzel bun. Â Hello deliciousness! Â I loved the sweet potato fries served with maple syrup. Â Yes! maple syrup, not some concocted infused sauce that I've seen in other places that just ruin a good sweet potato fry. Just plain and simple and so good.
Service was friendly, although a bit harried. It was pretty busy and it looked like our server had half the restaurant/bar to deal with. Â Nice spot. Â Tons of flatscreens for your sports-viewing pleasure
This was my second visit to Pints and I'll for sure be back. There's a great outdoor seating area as well as plenty of indoor seating. As mentioned in another review- this is a casual bar that actual adults hang out at!!! Being this is a "college town" there's plenty of places where there's kids being catered to.
They've got a decent list of drafts and tonight they were on special- bring on the IPAs. My friend and I decided to split a burger. If you opt for beef- it is locally sourced...LOVE LOVE LOVE this. Then it gets better, there's an Illini Buffalo Burger. Made with buffalo...if you have read some of my other reviews you know I'm a drooling fool for buffalo. And this burger was freaking fantastic, we added bacon and caramelized onions to the goat cheese. There's also 3 potato options as sides- homemade chips, regular fries, and sweet potato. We got sweet potato, so totally good.
I also had the hummus plate the last time I was here and again it was super good.
I'm looking forward to summer and sitting out back...
Pints is what a pub should be! Â It is narrow has a very long bar and a killer enclosed patio. Â You will find a beer you can drink either in the bottle or on draft. Â TV's are every where so no problem watching your favorite sporting event. Â Family friendly for lunch or dinner - walk in on the weekend and you will see families eating lunch or dinner - the menu is what you would expect from pub with a twist. Â Almost all the sandwiches are labeled after Big 10 schools.
Review Source:Yay! Glad this little bar is in Elmhurst.
Pints is a pretty cool place to come unwind with a group of friends and grab a brew. It's not huge and seems to get pretty cramped on the weekends, so try to come early if you wanted to grab a seat. I like their menu options, for example, pot roast nachos..... yeah, sounds strange, but it's pretty fricken good!
So, Pints is open until 1am on most nights but you'd never know it because the entrance to the building is covered by an enclosed, dark ass patio out front. It seriously looks like someone went home and forgot to turn the TV's off. Push through the door, then find the next door and then, oh wow, there's an actual bar down there.
By the time we came here, there was about an hour of drinking left on the clock and the guys who had just closed down (literally locked the door) at Charlie's across the street flowed in for a few after-work brews.
What else do you need to know? There's a girl in here who looks like Katy Perry. Don't worry, she knows it, since she's reminded of this fact every single day. Don't bother adding to the pile of gelatin desserts like I did*.
*Anyone catch that extremely old Simpson's reference?
I agree with other posts-love the food here, especially the pot roast nachos and Badger Burger. Comfortable atmosphere.
Would have rated 5 stars except  for the service. Numerous  times I have visited  I have to flag down the waitress to get some attention. The last time there was only two tables and still ignored while they chatted in the back.
Not a bad little bar in downtown Elmhurst.
We met some friends here over the weekend. This bar gets pretty crowded most weekends, but on Labor Day it was pretty empty. This is my second visit and I've been pleasantly surprised both times. It's a bar that knows what it is and doesn't try to be something it isn't.
Pros:
- Great outdoor patio - very comfortable and a great place to enjoy a beer.
- Healthy food items - Usually when you end up at a bar, healthy eating goes out the door. Pints, however, offers a delicious hummus platter and a veggie black bean burger. Awesome!
- Good bloody marys. They actually give you a decent size beer chaser, which the guys appreciated.
Cons:
-The guys were slightly disappointed in the scotch choices offered. But hey, it's a casual bar - what do you expect, right?
All in all, Pints is a great place to while away an afternoon with friends, enjoy a decent lunch, with veggie options, or watch a sporting event.
Like always, I was looking for a good lunch spot. Tired of the same 'ol, I searched for lunch venues on Yelp and taa daa....Pints comes up.
Since we had no clue this place even existed, nor had we ever seen it, we knew it was the place for lunch that day.
Got in the ride, rode into downtown Elmhurst, luckily found parking and headed towards the back entrance of Pints.
The patio is large and very pretty. Perfect for summer night drinks. The inside is also large, lots of big tables and plenty of bar seating. It's a little dark but fitting for a pub. I can see it getting crowded at night. The staff is friendly and attentive.
FOOD: On point! Part of the reason we decided to go was the awesome picture of their burgers! Angus beef, pretzel buns and it comes with waffle fries. Mmmm can it get any better? I'm sure it could but stay with me. ;)
We both opted for the Badger Burger. A large beefy patty, Wisconsin Cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, fried onion strings, topped with Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce. I told them to hold the BBQ and add jalapenos. Yea....taste buds had a hay day!!! Fat to say but I finished the whole burger and left the waffle fries. It was soooo good.
My friend had it the way it came, she let me taste it and next time I will also have it like it comes. It was perfect with the BBQ sauce.
They had lots of different burgers including one with a fried egg on top, for those who like that.
This will definitely be a frequent lunch spot!
I walked in with very low expectations. Â From the outside, Pints looks like your run-of-the-mill generic sports bar. Â And in some ways it is. Â They have a ton of flat screen TVs, they have the sports packages and they have a huge draft beer selection. Â But the food is what blew us away. Â A friend and I both had a blackened chicken sandwich that left us awestruck and inspired us to comment at least five times each during the meal how great it was. Â The chicken was crusted with a great fiery blend of spices, topped with melted jack cheese and avocado, and served in a perfect toasted pretzel bun. Â I could eat this sandwich for my next 8 meals and be happy.
Our other companion was similarly inspired to praise his "Big Ten" sandwich, though I have no idea what was in it.
Seriously, this place has fantastic bar food.
4 stars for the food
2 stars for the service
The atmosphere is great, we really enjoyed the food, but the service was just neglectful. We had to wave down the bartender every time we needed anything...it was Wednesday night and the place was quiet! At one point, the lone bartender was absent, hanging out by a table in the back, chatting with other employees. Not cool, Pints.
The food and atmosphere won't carry you entirely. Pick it up on the service, please!!
