Mahi tacos - amazing! Steak and chicken for two - marvelous! I have never had apricot-yogurt glaze and it was perfect on the chicken. Staff are delightful!  Regret not saving room for desert. We have bookmarked Pipers and will return.

"I love the Imperial Chicken and the Teacup Rolls are good as well.
Cloverleaf yeast rolls baked in a cup.
I had a French dressing on my salad.
The dressing may have been made by the Chef, it was a little different but tasty, and the croutons were fresh made and delicious too.
The only thing that I would change would be the red potatoes.
They were big and I thought maybe a little undercooked but I was too full to eat them anyways.

What is wrong with this place? In case you haven't been, here is a list of reasons not to go:
    Weird atmosphere
Too many tiny lamps per table
    Overpriced menu
    Terrible presentation
    Uninspired offerings

I could be less critical of this place because it is designed for old people with no taste buds, but I feel the positive reviews are misleading. I don't think I visited on an off night as it was a Friday night and only slightly busy.
The server was mostly on top of things but did not seem interested in my table. The food was oily, over cooked and poorly plated. The only good part was the tea bread, which was a decent popover with cinnamon butter.

Don't go if you don't have to!

Great place if you're older or bigger. The food is greasy and the portions are enormous. The veggies are boiled within an inch of their life, the velvet chicken soup is chicken noodle with a bunch of flour and cream, and everything else tastes like it was seasoned with vegetable oil and made hours ago. The teacup bread is basically a fried roll they serve with a plastic cup of butter cream and the salads are just iceberg lettuce with a couple slices of tomato and red onion. All of which is great if you don't care about nutrition and how that relates to your mortality and quality of life.

The waiting staff is friendly and on point and their beer selection is good as far as the area goes. If you're not a fancy smartass out-of-towner like me and you're okay eating at an Applebee's with good beer, old people, and an inexplicable design ethos, this is your place.

Oh, how I have grown to love Piper's Restaurant. It all started with an online search for great (non-chain) restaurants on Indy's southside. Then it morphed into the Bon Appetite-featured New England Chicken. Next it was the Teacup Bread. Then I had to stop and enjoy the most substantial scratch-made chocolate cake I have ever tasted. Finally I find myself here again today for a real Thanksgiving dinner I didn't have to cook myself. Pipers is the gift that just keeps on giving, and boy am I thankful!

DH and I went here for a wine pairing dinner.  We loved the food and sat a large table with others who also loved it..  Highly recommend this dinner to others who enjoy pairing wines with food.

I have a special place in my heart for Piper's. They did an amazing job for our wedding reception that we had there 3 years ago. The event planner took care of everything and was extremely helpful to make the day go smooth and look gorgeous. I really appreciated every detail they went over and how amazing they made the reception look.
Since then, I have been back numerous times, some for nostalgia, but a lot for the delicious succulent food. A good chunk of the dishes are homemade which means they are soooo good. It is a little price, most entrees are between 12-25, but I think it's worth it due to the time spent making each dish special and the fact the portions are large that you will have a take-home box.
The service is always excellent and they take the time to help you understand the dishes, and are very prompt and courteous. I love the teacup bread and side salad that comes with every meal. Even though it's hard to keep enough room for dessert, they have a great collection of desserts made by an awesome pastry chef.
I will keep coming back here, even though it's a little bit in an odd location, but it holds some dear memories and well I'm ok with that! :)

We come to Piper's at least once a month. We've never had to wait and the food is always good (and I always have enough for leftovers).

A great restaurant that I recommend with confidence. We've been going to Piper's sInce they first opened and they've never failed to satisfy. The restaurant is independently owned & operated by a husband/chef & wife team along with a waitstaff that includes their 2 daughters. The atmosphere has an upscale elegant yet casually comfortable touch. The menu is large enough to appeal to everyone but not so large to overwhelm. We've been all over this menu and we've truly enjoyed everything. Salads, fish, chicken, beef & steaks and stir fry, or comfort foods like meatloaf, braised beef brisket, ribs, pot pie.....whatever mood you're in, they will sate your appetite. There are a few dining areas upstairs & down and a cool bar area. Wednesday nights offer 1/2 price bottles of wine which is a sweet deal. But, their wine list itself is affordable. They also have a full bar and bottled beer. I really love that all entrees come with a wonderful salad including homemade croutons & homemade salad dressing (all of their dressings are amazing) and teacup bread. We've brought a lot of friends & family to Piper's over the years and everyone has been return customers. Don't miss:  the New England Chicken with fresh pears in a cider cream sauce, beef ribs (you're gonna look like Fred Flintstone eating these) and the salmon sauteed with browned butter.

Piper's is fantastic!! My wife and I have eaten here 4 or 5 times in the last few months. Last night our server, I think his name was Dylon, was the best yet. We came in fairly late (9 when the close time is 10) but we were welcomed in with open arms.

If you come here try the calamari with the spicy bacon ranch sauce. It's reason enough to visit all on it's own!!

I feel the prices are very reasonable. We had an appetizer, salads, two main dishes and a bottle of wine. Our total bill was about $60 but could have been $40 without our choice of wine.

Piper's is wonderful. I've paid much more for food that wasn't as good.

My mom recently went to Piper's for lunch and she hijacked my YELP acct to write this review, and I'm happy she did.:

Met friends for lunch at Pipers upon the suggestion of our son and the reviews on the web.  It certainly lived up to the reviews.  I enjoyed Crab cakes, others in the party said the Meatloaf was very good, Cesar salad with chicken very good and Onion soup that was outstanding.  Everyone thought the entrees were delicious and the teacup bread was exceptional.  We also shared deserts.  The chocolate cake was extraordinary and the bread pudding surpassed our expectations. The service was excellent and we had a most enjoyable lunch.  Would definitely go back!

My family lives not too far from this restaurant and finally decided to try it out for the first time. Unfortunately, we were craving seafood and Indiana is not the best place for fresh tasting seafood, and I get spoiled by traveling and eating FRESH seafood. We decided to try out this attractive place hoping it wasn't too pricey. Unfortunately, $$, does not mean $10-20, it must mean, $10-50. (I now realize it means $11-30, and I will just say most entrees here are $23-30)

As everyone says the teacup bread is amazing. It's similar to Logan's Steakhouse but a little bit more doughy.

The side/house salad was very small and skimpy with primarily iceberg lettuce... not my favorite.

The seafood dishes were good, but not as good as I was hoping for the price you pay. My parents had gotten the stuffed flounder and the flounder was covered in a cheese mixture that just really seemed like it was covering up the strong fishy flavor. The scallop dish that I got was very funny tasting as well. The scallops were fresh but a little on the rubbery side. The potato pancakes that they came with were VERY oily on the bottom. I know they are fried, but the oil on the bottom was overpowering.

So for the first time, not impressed. Unfortunately with the prices, I know we won't be going back, but I am sure they have some good dishes.

Nice, generous lunch if you happen to be in the (fairly out of the way) neighborhood.

My fiance and I just did a tasting there for our wedding. The care and attention shown to us was good. The number of items and the volume of food presented for our sampling was extraordinary, but the food itself - the focus of our visit - was lacking. It was all very... well... non-memorable and bland.

I'm so glad that we were able to taste before committing. I really wish I'd liked their food because they're close to our house and have a beautiful space, making it a great place to go for a nice dinner together... if only the food had been worth the price.

I've experienced both the restaurant and catering sides of Pipers and have great experiences with both. My wife and I had our wedding reception at the Grand Manor and it was fantastic. That time was a blur but everything was set up well and the food was tasty. If you're looking for a reception hall on the south side I highly recommend.

The restaurant side is just as good. They have so many original recipes to try that you'll have to go multiple times. Most recently I had the Baby Back Ribs, which were awesome. All meals come with their tea cup bread with cinnamon butter and a salad. It is worth the trip just for the bread and homemade salad dressings.

Whether you're coming for a group of 200 or 2 this is a great option.

This is a must try!! Honestly, I wasn't even on my way to this place for dinner but thankfully to "LA"ish traffic in Indy I gave it a chance. Miranda was our server.  She was very patient and attentive with us as she was with other guests.  A must try are the crab cakes, they are made in house and served with a homemade sauce.   Yummers!!  My brother and I shared the crab cake app.  He had the lightly battered and fried catfish dinner, which came with a salad and fries.  I had the cobb salad with steak added to it.  Everything was excellent! the service, the atmosphere the price. After dinner and about 4 martinis and a beer our bill came to be around 80$.  Not bad!!  I would totally visit again.

The food here is AMAZING.  You have to try the teacup bread & then order two more.  I had my wedding reception here as well & I could not have asked for a more perfect place.  I love first off that you are the only event they have that night ,as opposed to banquet halls where there could be 2-4 weddings at the same time as yours.  You get their full attention like how they knew how much I loved their teacup bread so they gave me two!  The place is also decorated very nicely and doesnt have that tacky carpet that so many halls have.  The food, and this was widely agreed upon by my guests, tastes like it does if you go to the restaurant, not like normal catering food (we did the buffet with the imperial chicken & beef tenderloins).  They also allow you to have a cake brought in (A Piece of Cake in Greenwood was awesome & where I got mine).  They have a person that will also do the decorations for you & can create centerpieces if needed (we did frames with meaningful pictures of us instead of flowers which was very economical & saved us hundreds of dollars).  I suggest getting the white christmas lights with white tool on the ceiling for the extra $200ish dollars.  It made the place magical instead of just beautiful.

So if you are looking for a beautiful place to have your wedding with wonderful food and one on one attention, this is the place & there is no place better in Indy for the price.  You will just need to go somewhere else for outdoor pictures while the inside is perfect in the foyer where they have a beautiful baby grand piano and wonderful interior design.

I knew this place -- then and now !!!

This local "come as you are" establishment is one of the finest places the Southside of Indy has to offer.  It has called 3 different locations "home" for the many years I have been visiting. Don't let the fact it has moved from location to location scare you...there has always been a valid reason and they were saving the best for last.

The new location offers up an area for family dining and a quaint bar area with a couple flat screens if you want to grab a booth  or sit at the bar.  In this case by quaint, I means cozy but small area.  You can get a good drink from a full bar or a nice glass of wine from the selection.

Will (the owner) and his family have never failed in delivering a place you feel comfortable and at home.  My guess is before you leave you will have had one of them come over to the table just to make sure everything met with your approval and liking.

The New England Chicken has long been a favorite and the crab cakes are a must for an appetizer.  I can almost guarantee that you will find something on the wonderful menu that will become a favorite.  You may even want to order extra of  "come with all" Teacup Bread.

Don't leave without introducing yourself ... I don't believe Will forgets anyone.  You will return to smiles (and you will return).  It's well worth the drive "off the beaten path".  In this case I believe Will has a vision of this area...and he is here to stay.
