I went to Pita Plus for lunch with my coworkers. Â Although, at first glance I wasn't convinced, the food was delicious. Â Why 4 start and not 5? Â The decor.
1- when entering the restaurant, you feel like it was built in the 1990's and has not been updated since. Â On my own, I definitely would not venture here. Â It looked sketchy.
2- The menu is not very user friendly or explanatory. Â I wasn't sure what I was getting. Can someone please tell me what's a young chicken? Â Do I want to know what's a young chicken? Â I took a wild guess and ordered the chicken pita.
3- the food was delicious. Â My chicken was freshly made and the taste was incredible.
All and all it isn't a bad lunch place. Â I would definitely venture there again for lunch
I ate at this place for the first time today, and I am in love. I orderered a shawarma with extra tzatziki sauce accompanied by a can of strawberry banana nectar originally from Israel (it had Hebrew writing on it and the brand is called Spring). The person I went with knows the owner personally and the owner hooked it up with two free falafels (whoo!). It is a little on the expensive side but I think it is so worth it! A lot of Orthodox Jews frequent the place and on the door there are signs saying this place has been found to be an authentic server of kosher food. I will definitely be returning any time I am in the area.
I definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Mediterranean/Jewish food or someone who is being introduced to it for the first time. Besides lamb they offer chicken and tilapia, and they have kabobs too.
As a snowbird looking for good kosher food in Toronto is difficult. But in Florida the Kosher scene seems to be running rampant and this place is a good example of it.
I'm particular about my falafels and shawarma since the options in Toronto are craptastic (with some exceptions to the rule). When I fly into Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, I make sure to make this a stop along the way. They get Israeli/Middle Easter style of food and they do it SO well.
Seating is a bit of an issue because it's packed (or at least when I'm there) but it's manageable.
But the kicker for me and what makes this place so awesome is that they offer Kubeh. I have never seen it offered anywhere other than my grandmother's house or at my mom's. It's not mindblowing kubeh, but good enough that I make it a point to order it on the side when I go.
Check it out. You may even see me there the next time in the area. I'll be the one in the corner in a food coma while taking care of my food baby.
I am very finicky when it comes to my falafels. I have to these are the best in town. Not only are the falafels huge and delicious, the pita is fresh and warm and the toppings are great. They overstuff the pita with your choice of spicy or mild sauces. The hummus is incredibly delish. Yes the price is about nine bucks for the falafel pita and no drinks, but I would pay for a quality falafel anyday.
Review Source:When I think of this place, I think "YUM!".
I've only been here for lunch but I really enjoyed it. Â The pita bread is so good! Every time I go, I get the hummus pita sandwich and just have them put everything on it. Â I don't really know what a lot of the stuff is but it tastes good so I'm happy. Â After reading all these Yelp reviews, I know I need to try the Shawarma.
The service was extremely friendly. Â I would recommend this place if you love Mediterranean food, keep kosher or just like a good pita.
I am a schwarma expert; Pita Plus is the best I have ever eaten. Â They mix mine with sauteed onions. Â The portions are huge and the people are extremely friendly and accomodating. Â Their french fries are fresh cut and the best you will ever have. The portion is a meal in itself. Â My wife orders the steak sandwich smothered in sauteed onions, delicious. Â Forget the rest of the schwarma joints; this is truly the only one you should visit.
Review Source:One of my favorite places to eat, they are always friendly and when you finish your meal you feel satisfied. Young chicken, shwarma, beef kabob all very tasty. Even the hamburger has a tasty flare to it. The cooks are the best around  ans super nice. Food for two will run you about $30 but you get alot and worth every penny.
Review Source:We were on our way to go mini golf and my boyfriend needed something to drink. Looking for a drive through or quick place to stop, I noticed the Pita Plus across the street. Although we walked in strictly going in for a refreshment --while standing in line, our mouths began to water.
The smells, the food in your face, being prepared, everything looked great. I looked at him and we both knew we were going to grab a small bite. We had plans to go eat Vietnamese after mini golfing so we decided to split a falafel pita sandwich. We ordered it with every condiment and vegetable they had on display. This was seriously, one of the best falafels ever!
I live a good hour away, and I'm already trying to plan our next mini golfing trip just so we can have lunch at this place first. I highly recommend.
I was on a business trip and happened to bump into this place. Â Is the kind of place that you will miss if you didn't know about it unless you seen the cars park outside. Â Very friendly and great service. Â I was trying to reduce my meat consumption and they were very understanding and gave me more other of stuff, charge me less too, which they didn't have to but nice to do it. Â It obvious why there were so many repeated customers because of the great taste. Â I love it so much I went back the second night I was in town. Â Most likely will be going back there on my next trip.
Review Source:Let me start by saying I'm 3rd generation U.S. born.
If you come from the middle east you're gonna love this place.
Now for the rest of us..... here is my review.
The grilled chicken is nice as well as the Schwarma (Gyro).
Definitely avoid the Fries. The fries are authentic Israeli style . Cold, greasy and limp. The Chumus and Tehina is good as well as the stuffed grape leaves. At times the Steak has been quite fatty, which is a crime based on what they charge for the certified Kosher meat. That being said I voted "like"... BUT... if you do not eat strictly Kosher food there is really no reason to go through this adventure.
Have you ever dove into a delicious shawarma or falafel sandwich only to be disappointed when the pita breaks and all of your delicious goodness comes pouring out the bottom? Well worry no more. Not only is Pita Plus the best pita sandwich in town, but their pitas are durable and delicious! I love the shawarma with Israeli salad and hummus. This place is great for both meat lovers and vegetarians.
Review Source:The slogan on their menu says "The Best Pita Ever" and I tend to agree! I usually get the falafel pita and it is so big and tasty. The service is quick and its a great place for lunch. Everything is Glatt Kosher, so you know that its all quality ingredients. The guys behind the counter are quick and friendly.
Review Source:I don't know if this place is related to the Pita Plus on Sw 31st, but I really love it. Â The Falafel is awesome. Â The Schawma is just slowly rotating, waiting for you on one of those vertical spits...can you smell it?
The place is always clean as a whistle. Â Been here many times and always is great. Â The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that a Schawma can run about $7, drink and side not included.
Edit on 10/16/08
I was in the aera so I dropped in. Â They raised their prices, that I thought were already a little steep. Â A schawma cost over $9. No sides or drink.
