    This USED to be one of my favorite restaurants but tonight the meatball soup was so horrifically salty my tongue felt parched after one taste. When I called the waiter, Noah, over to the table, before we even said anything he said, "Let me guess.  It's too salty.  You aren't the first ones to complain."  My husband and I both sent it back. Noah offered a pasta faggiole soup instead that tasted like beans and bacon, not pasta faggiole. Noah was nice about it, but the manager should have pulled the soup from the menu after the FIRST person complained it was so horribly salty, and being too cheap, he didn't.  That's just Restaurant Management 101. My husband grew up in a family who owned an Italian restaurant, so we know what we are talking about! First order of business: serve quality food and keep the customer happy.  As a gourmet cook myself, I can tell you that any chef worth his "salt" wouldn't have to add any to his food.
    Then I ordered the special salmon with vegetables and it was also too salty to eat. I called the waiter over again and said, "Your chef has a very heavy hand with the salt - I took one bite and can't eat this".  They offered to remake it, but wanted to use the SAME salmon!!!!  I told them to forget it and take it off the check - I'd rather GO HOME HUNGRY - which I did!
    The manager never even bothered to come out to offer anything - not something else, nor even to apologize. He stayed calmly behind the register only glancing at me once.
    They did remove everything from the bill except the glass of house Merlot I drank (CHEAPSKATES!). They should have made some attempt to make amends, especially since I've eaten here for years (I did a review of this restaurant back in 2009!).
    Now I'll never be back. If I could, I'd give them NO stars. And believe me, I'll tell EVERYONE I KNOW.  This is a lesson of what NOT to do when you are managing a restaurant.
    And one other observation:  they turned off the music!  No Frank Sinatra - nor any other music! What the heck is going on at Sal's?  Very disappointed - AND STILL HUNGRY.

    Food = Good
    Service = not so good

    Shrimp scampi pizza was yummy, as was the Italian Classico sub.

    Service was somewhat disorganized. A bigger group that got seated after us got their food faster than us, even though we ordered our food first

    don't go for the service, go for the food

    This place is definitely better pizza than what you can get at one of the chains, but with that said, I would say it falls pretty safely into the "about average" range. Thin crust and a fairly sweet sauce. They have cannolis here which is always an added bonus. Prices are perhaps a tad on the high side, but not too bad.  I wouldn't go out of my way to return, but I would definitely get it again if I am around the area.
