If you are looking for a fun, culinary dining experience FACE Restaurant is a must! Â
We selected the Blue Crab strudel topped with mango chutney sauce. This appetizer is a unique compilation of blue crab and phyllo dough accompanied by either a cinnamon or all spice.
The flat bread options were very unique. Â We went with the RTB2 flat bread. Slices of roasted turkey breast, caramelized apple and baked brie cheese covered with a cranberry spread. This flat bread allows you to have a taste of Thanksgiving Day dinner in June.
Entrees included; Le Boeuf Bourguignon. Â This is a braised beef marinated with red wine and finished with a whiskey. Â This beef dish presents a big bold rich flavor and will turn non-red drinkers into a red wine drinker quick. The Scallop Porcini Mushroom Fricassee was a smaller portion w/ 4 mid-sized scallops. Mussels Mariniere - Prince Edward Mussels was succulent. Â The textures of the mussels were perfect and the shallot was a nice surprise within garlic cream sauce. This was my favorite dish!
Lastly dessert was amazing - Crème Brulee and Colonial were the desserts of choice.  The crème brulee was well received. The Colonial is a lemon sorbet served with a shot of vodka.  The vodka is dumped into the sorbet and then mixed with the fresh mint and strawberries. This dessert is the perfect accompaniment for the hot summer months in south Florida. Â
Chef Michele came out and detailed each entree. His love for each dish was evident, and his enthusiasm is contagious. Â He even bought us a drink. Â The service was spot on! Â This is an absolutely, amazing experience.
Good food meets mediocre service and a complete lack of attention to detail.
I'll start with the good- When they execute a dish, it can beat any meal in Hollywood. However, their lack of execution, service, detail and hastily prepared food falls short on all ends.
We ordered an appetizer hearts of palm salad that waiter repeatedly said had avocado. I ordered it based on  his description. The salad came out and was wonderful, however it didn't have a shred of avocado. I overheard the table next to me say, "Wow, theirs doesn't have avocado either". Clearly the waiter didn't know that it didn't  include it or misrepresented the dish.
For our main courses I ordered the Beef Bourguignon, which was excellent. The side of mash that came with it came out cold. I requested to have it warmed. The chef obviously warmed it  in the microwave, because it came back with a layer of oil on top and was more of a soup than mashed potatoes. My wife ordered scallops which came out with a large shrimp wedged between them. The menu did not state that the scallops came with shrimp or any other surprise ingredients. My wife has a food allergy with shrimp that would get her violently ill. We returned the dish, but when it came back the scallops smelled rotten. In fact, I could smell them from across the table which is never a good sign. For the first time in years we had to return another dish. The waiter assured us that everything was "fresh" and proceeded to argue with us. It was clear that the scallops were old and nearly rotten,
Outside of the inept menu descriptions and unbalanced food service, the entire restaurant was a scene of chaos. They were packed with customers, which I assume was a rarity. 4 or 5 tables waited at least an hour for basic appetizers and I could see the wait staff and owners arguing in the kitchen. The stress level from all the staff was clearly visible. I also noticed that while a waitress was describing a dish to a table next to us that another waiter (or possible owner) interrupted them regarding a problem, which was unprofessional and very rude to the people placing an order. We were also approached by 4 different people and were asked the same questions by a staff that clearly wasn't trained properly.
I asked myself as we left if I would ever return. The answer was no. While Face has the potential to be a great restaurant with excellent food presentation and great dishes when executed, the other factors make this place impossible to enjoy. A Â "Restaurant: Impossible" style makeover is sorely needed here.
I really like this place! Â I have been here a few times for drinks (I have yet to have the pleasure of eating here) and I love the atmosphere! Â The bartenders and entire staff are very friendly and personable. Â The live DJ is great and adds to the chic ambiance. Â Very sleek and modern, an extensive (and highly creative) cocktail menu, and wonderful service all around! Â I will come here anytime I am in Hollywood! Â Can't wait to try the food!
