So they've remodeled and I finally got a chance to stop by again. Much better than before! The place doesn't emanate a vibe of dingy, dirty, old dive bar anymore. The carpet's gone, they cleaned up the bar, and it's just a much more pleasant place to hang out at than it was before.

Stopped by on a Saturday night and the place wasn't as packed as it was before. Found several good taps on hand which is also another reason why I'm upping them a star. Keep the IPA's and special releases coming! Got a full pint of RuinTen for $7, which is decent, considering I'm supposed to get a smaller pour of this high ABV beer heh heh.

Noticed that most beers are $3.50 during their happy hour, but we haven't taken advantage of this yet. Good thing our friend's place is within stumbling distance.

This spot is better. It seems like such a "dude" place. There's pool (typical) and a bar area where you could just watch sports on tv.

Honestly places like these don't make me go WOW. It is just a place to go to since my friends wanted to come here. Nothing much to really say.....!

Exactly what a small town pub is supposed to be. Great local crowd, great atmosphere, GREAT BARTENDER!

I was on my way home from work last night (12am) and was super hungry. I called around to see if anyone's kitchen was still open. The bartender (Dan) explained that the kitchen had just closed but would be willing to whip me up a quick bite.

I arrived shortly after and my wings were ready for consumption. I asked Dan to recommend a local dark beer. Without hesitation he grabbed me a beer and gave me a brief synopsis of its origin.

Overall the experience was excellent. And all the credit has to go to the bartender. I was impressed. He is the best/fastest bartender I have seen in San Diego. When he wasn't slinging drinks at record speed he was indulging the patrons (including myself) in the usual bar banter.

I highly recommend this place to anyone and i am looking forward to donating a portion of my salary to keep Pitchers in business.

Now its not the Pitchers that I used to know. (you have to sing it) The owner, Troy, sacked a third of the pool tables, kicked out the jukebox and in doing so broke my heart. "Meh. I've experienced better." Yeah! This bar before the remodel. And the bathrooms are still dumpy.

I love Pitchers!  I just went there this evening, perfect spot to get together with friends.  They recently renovated it, which it was much needed.  They have decent food with decent prices.

I love pitchers! I really like the vibe there. The food isn't anything spectacular, but still really good and reasonably priced. Got the nachos last time and they were gigantic, enough for four easily. Had a few different pizzas there and they were all great. Good beer on tap.

Was a little disappointed last time I went with my boyfriend, we both left our sunglasses at the table (expensive ones!) and as soon as we realized it, not too long after we left, we began calling...over and over again. No answer. By the time we were able to go back in the bartender was like 'oh, are you here about your sunglasses? I wasn't sure if you had left so I just left them there, I don't know what happened to them'.

Im not letting this effect my rating since it is our fault we left them in the first place, but I thought it was pretty oblivious of her, we had just paid our tab, our booth was nothing but empty glasses and plates....obviously we left. Then when we started calling less than an hour later the phone was ignored. I just think common courtesy would be to pick up forgotten valuable items and put them behind the bar. Just sayin, if she had I would have stayed for another drink and tipped her well. I think it says a lot about an establishment when the employees pay attention and try to look out for their patrons.

    The tacos were good.

The place is so small. The ladies room is the size of my coat closet. Only one person at a time, but they don't have it set up that way. So you walk it and you're nose is pressing on the stall.

The bartender was not very friendly nor attentive. If we wanted a drink, we had to flag him down. He was busy with his friends on the other end of the bar.

Came here with the hubby and another couple during the holidays on a Friday night to grab some drinks and a quick dinner.  If we were just going for drinks I think it would have been a fun night - I definitely would not recommend Pitchers as a place to go for eating.  We got there and seated ourselves... not seeing menus anywhere that would make sense for self-service, we looked around and waited for a bit to see if any servers would come by.  It wasn't packed (maybe a little under half full inside) but they seemed understaffed so we finally got menus by asking the bartender.  We figured we should put our order in at the bar since there seemed to be no one other than the 2 tending the bar.  We then waited for a long time for our food to the point that we went and asked twice at the bar if it was coming.  It finally came out about 45 minutes later - the server was apologetic about the wait and the food was decent but nothing special.  Final thought - good for drinks, not food.

The local watering hole in PQ that has been around for the last 25 years or so. I finally got around to stopping by this place on a Saturday night while I was in town visiting the parents. Ordered a few pitchers at $14 each, and it was nice that the pint glasses were refrigerated. This place feels like part dive bar, part gastropub, but not quite either of the two. Pool tables and a shuffleboard are nice in theory, but the people on there weren't really moving from them so we didn't get a chance to play. Shrug.

A serviceable bar when you're looking for a drink in PQ and feeling too lazy to go elsewhere. :)

Growing up in PQ I've always wanted to go to this place. But only now at 24 am I finally visiting and I have to say it was what I thought it would be. Although kind of small, bumping into people sitting at tables on my way to the bar and forget trying to play a game of pool or shuffle board without having to tap the other person out of the way. But the drinks are cheep and there is a surprisingly large selection of beer to even hard apple cider that you can of course get pitchers of living up to it's name. This place overall is a lot of fun tucked away in a small shopping center and I recommend to any and all who are out for a nice simple night out.

I first went to Pitchers in 2005. It was a completely different bar then, and a completely different time in my life. I was younger, broker, and my ass was actually smaller. Pitchers was bigger, seedier, dirtier, and well, better.

A friend asked me to meet here here for a couple of beers instead of our regular hang out. We could use a change of scenery, so we went for it and met on a Saturday afternoon.

The bar is located in a small-ish shopping center, so parking was a breeze. The door sticks to the side walk when you open it, so make sure to close it behind you.

The remodel of the bar cut the size of the place in half, along with half of the pool tables. It's clean and well lit now. No gum and beer saturated carpet or dimly lit corners to go have a cry in your beer. It looks a lot like a typical gastropub with dark wood, stainless steel, and concrete floors. The booths are elevated and sit along the windows.

The bar has a USC following, with reserved seating for USC fans. Not just one of those corny signs, but truly a table reserved so they can watch the game on their very own projection TV. There is a bit of USC memorabilia around the bar area, and the bar seems to have a set of loyal USC alumni that watches the games here.

The bathrooms are possibly the one thing that haven't changed. The ladies room was still a mess. I'm not a bathroom princess by any stretch. I mean, when I lived in the hood, I was no stranger to the bathroom at the Ken Club. Super girly girls might want to save their princess parts for a different potty.

Their draft selection is pretty good despite the bar itself being small. There are hooks under the bar for your murse or your lady things. The cocktails weren't very well made - not weak, not strong, just not correct. Stick to beer where consistency is pretty much guaranteed.

Came here for a friend's birthday. CHEAP DRINKS and typical bar food you would find at your local bar. If we lived in the area, I'm sure this would be a place we would frequent and enjoy a few drinks, a bite to eat, and company with friends.

I have been coming to Pitchers for years.  I'm not sure if it's under the same ownership as when I first visited the place.  Nevertheless, I like the low key atmosphere and the good drinks.  The bartenders are friendly and sociable.  They have Trivia night Tuesdays so that's a fun plus.  The drinks are cheap and the bar food is pretty good.  They have electronic darts and a couple of mini-pool tables.  Thanks for the fun times and memories along the years.  :-P

This is a local bar where the drinks are cheap, the bar food (got the pizza bread & club sandwich w/ fries) is pretty decent and it's dark inside with mini pool tables, tvs & loud music you can play from a jukebox.

Just my cup of tea!  It's a little hard to hear your friends, but get a few beers down the gullet and hey!  You're not really yelling & neither are your friends or your neighbors.

Nice mixed crowd here.  Some youngins, some old farts, some ancient ones but its got all flavor of people and all kinds of music depending on who was next on the jukebox (from metal to rap to hard rock back to hip hop).

It's in a mini strip mall, literally drove right past it 'cos that main street is dark - had to flip a b**** I mean a U-turn to find it on the Yelp mapping but it's there on the NORTHWEST corner of Carmel Mtn Rd & Paseo Cardiel.  I see it fine right now on my computer, but on your iPhone mapping it looks like - well it looks like any one of the freaking 4 corners and when you're looking for a place you've never been to after 10 p.m., every corner looks like a good one.

Come here to have a great time & not worry about being judged for what you're wearing or what you're drinking or who you're hanging out with.  And ample parking space in the lot in front!

This place is a dope locals spot.  Ballast point and Stone are always on deck.  I can drink Sculpin forever, especially when it's from the tap!  Ice cold pint of IPA after a long day...  Ultimate bliss..  The prices are decent and for being so close to home I personally favor going here over some of the other places.

I like that they are one of the only bars with a damn Shuffle Board.  The board is a little short and has a slight lean to it, but it works and I'm perfectly fine with that.  They also have 2 pool tables for the pool sharks.

Overall, Pitchers is hard to beat when it comes to dive bars in and around PQ.  It's a little loud and you are more than likely to see the same people here the next time.  That's what makes this place awesome and the fact that It's a dive bar makes me enjoy it even more.

For a local bar in PQ, this place seems to be the SPOT where everyone hits up ;) Its always poppin' (inside and out) and has decent beers on tap. My boyfriend and I usually stick to the IPAs so we get the Sculpin IPA and Stone IPA.

A friend of ours drove down to see us from Ramona last week. It was already getting pretty late so we decided to walk down here, which was nice cuz we saved on gas LOL....The atmosphere was loud and noisy, but crowd seemed to be having a great time with their friends. The bartenders are very attentive so we were able to grab a quick beer without getting in peoples way LOL

Music here is always random!! We've been here when they play rock, punk, alternative...and they also play house, electronic, trance music for people like us ;p

I am only giving one star because there isn't a lower score!!!

Well it seems like everyone in the neighborhood likes this place and it has rave reviews.   If you are visiting this area DO NOT GO IN.  I love football and it was really close to our hotel, breakfast buffet....didn't try it due to the complete uncomfortableness of being there.  Asked about what tv the Dallas game was on....several people in there in Dallas jersey, but we we were rudely told it wasn't on and the tvs were already spoken for  certain games.  Ready to leave... she realized there was a tv behind us had the game on.  When we finally wanted to leave this shit hole she slammed our ticket down on the counter and was completely a bitch.   NO thanks, have a good day...it seemed like we were putting her out for doing her job.
AND BY THE WAY one of the worst bloody mary's ever!!!
If ur a local have fun, if you are not BEWARE!!!  I will never go back and would never recommend to anyone else I know in SD.

Chill bar. Great cause it's local and usually not too crowded. You'll be surprise though because on a random Wednesday night there are a bunch of people there. It can vary, but you'll still be able to get a seat or at least stand around with a cold beer in hand.

They have shuffled board and two pool tables. Plus a juke box. Drinks are average price, no cheaper than most.

This is probably the best bar that is within walking distance from where I live.  They always have Stone IPA on tap as well as some other good selections. Taco Tuesday is pretty legit because not only are the tacos pretty damn good, it's also Trivia Night! They always seem to have some kind of drink special goin' on for domestics and/or local brews.
They have billiards, darts and shuffle board. Everything your basic hometown bar needs. This is a great place for me to relax and drink without having to travel too far.

My mother lives down the street so I have been here a few times because PQ doesn't have much else to offer.

It has darts which is always cool (if only they weren't electronic)
The drinks are decently priced, There is an odd assortment of people, The music is okay, Its clean and the food is alright.

The most entertaining part is seeing people you went to high school with who still live with their parents, got fat and have gone no where in life.
Which always equals a good time!

Just your typical neighborhood bar where the regulars hang out.

    Pros:
The beer is pretty cheap by the pitcher.
Has more than one pool table.
    Darts.
    Decent service.
    Good selection on tap.
Pretty mellow. Each group leaves the other to their own.
The beer is cheap by the pitcher. Oh yeah, I said that.

    Cons:

Extremely dark and dirty. Not sure if the bathrooms have ever been cleaned.
Food isn't good at all unless you've had too many drinks. Shouldn't have to be buzzed for a good meal but I guess you don't come here for a culinary experience.

All in all, the pros outweigh the con's at least by the quantity of each. This isn't a regular hang out but I will be back.

If you plan on getting trashed with the people you went to high school with that got knocked up, this is the place for you. Guaranteed you will see a couple people around this place probably with the strollers outside... they should create stroller parking spots... check in the baby at the door!.
Food is OK, the pizza is good for a bar when your buzzed, and the Italian sandwich is just a sad excuse for a sandwich. plenty of drinks to choose from.
Only good thing about this place... pool tables and the dart boards!!
As Mike C said.. bathrooms are just a scary movie waiting to happen. Avoid them for your own sake and of course if you don't want to catch anything.

A hole in a hole in a wall bar!!!

No happy hour specials here, but prices were already cheap enough...
Domestic pints at $2.25, premium at $3.25
    Pint of Guiness for $4.50

They have three pool tables, lots of regulars and players. There's a shuffleboard (cool), golf video game and juke box.

Dark and grimy - carpet is stained with hundreds...and I mean literally hundreds of old gum that had imbedded directly into the fibers of the carpet.

The bathroom was no better. Dirty, smelly. Sorry, wouldn't recommend doing a poopy here (no door)...ha.

Sorry...I can't think of any other replacement bars within a 1 mile radius. Try going downtown once in awhile.

Customer service seemed the only thing slightly better than a neutral experience here. Nice friendly bartender, but other than that...that's all you have and the relatively cheap prices on your drinks.

Clean up the place a little bit, and I might re-review the bar again.

After reading reviews on Yelp, I finally gave in and decided to stop by after work with my boyfriend. It was a nice dive bar with cheap drinks. I had to get a pitcher, because of course, they are called PITCHERS and it was only $12. A small pizza was good enough to share. It was delicious, although it did take a while to make, but it was worth it!

Tuesday nights are Trivia nights, so bring a friend or two and try to steal the first prize of $30 bar money!

All in all, good place if you're in dire need of a beer, some good food, and good company. You deserve 4 stars Pitchers. Good job.

I just came back from Pitchers after sharing some appetizers and beers with the boyfriend.  It's a very cute dive bar with uber friendly staff, awesome beers on draft (oh em gee, like, any bar with Stone IPA have "awesome beers on draft". & the bias begins...),  yummy food, games, games, and of course, a jukebox whose commanders have interesting, yet nostalgia producing qualities (in other words, pretty darn good music choices that takes you way back).

The boyfriend and I shared "wet" cajun wings and garlic cheese mushrooms. The "wet" cajun wings were 7/10. Awesomely spicy and you sure can taste the cajun, however, something was a bit off. I think the flavor just didn't go right when tossed in hot sauce. It wasn't bad though! The wings were big and they give 10 pieces for $6. I'd totally get them again, but just the regular "hot wings" flavor.  The mushrooms were DELISHHH. I'm a mushroom head so if you cringed when I said mushrooms the first time... uhh... you can suck the cap of one... or something. Comes SUPER hot (i'm dead serious, wait a minute before your tongue is incinerated) in a cute white ceramic dish with a side of garlic bread for dipping in the awesome garlic sauce in which the mushrooms swim.  9/10 for those! Would've been 10/10 if it were saltier, but that's what the salt 'n' peppa shakers for right? Right!

The boyfriend and I went there to get away from the apartment for an hour or two and it was an overall success.  Go with friends, go with one other person, go alone... I think either way you'll feel comfortable once settled in.  It's a very good place to just hang out and talk about whatever, laugh, hit some balls... aha, aha, aha. I should be a comedian -__-

I'm a big fan of this joint...especially since it's so close to where I live.

This place has that hole in the wall dive bar vibe I dig.  Bartenders are outgoing and friendly and fricken ROCK behind that bar.  Never had to wait too long for my drinks.  You don't have to be a local to be treated like a local here.  Just make sure to return the favor.  On a busy day, I usually have no problems getting my drink orders in at either end of the bar.

I like the whole mix of the crowd.  Different ages, different ethnicities, etc.  But everyone just getting along and having a great time.  Funny thing is I ran into my dad and his friends here! HA!  Weird but actually cool.  I bought them a round.

I go here for my quick fix and prefer it here.  This is my anti-TGI Fridays bar.  There's nothing corporate, or foo foo fancy about this joint.  Another reason why I like it here.  It's just a real down to earth local spot with real people having a great time.

It can get pretty packed in here sometimes ....at which point it feels more like a house party.  If you come here often enough like I do, you don't mind that so much.   By then you're probably just one of the regulars anyway....or at least know who the regulars are....and the bartenders....and maybe even the owner......all on a first name basis.

They got the typical local watering hole furniture:  pool tables, dart board, booths, TV's everywhere, and a juke box.  No pretentious BS here.  Prices are reasonable.

Great service, good pizza (this joint used to be an old pizza place when I was a kid), good music, good people, ice cold beer...all just down the street.  You gotta love that.

Thanks for giving us someplace to go to around this sleepy bedroom community I call home!  It's like a bar in my own backyard with a block party!

oh Pitchers. So I went to high school nearby and I always get worried I will see the ubercool people I went to high school with, you know, from over 10 years ago. This place is ultra chill and the quintessential local watering hole. They have darts, a pool table, golden tee and video unit with penthouse photohunt.  This place is kind of my standing joke to go to (if I ever am in the area and can round up people for a few) and I always have a good time to have a few beers.  They have a good beer selection and the bartenders seem pretty nice. I think if you wanted it bad enough, it can definately be your own Cheers.

I dont know if anyone does this anymore but way back when, Sunday nights were Karaoke ( and some of these people practiced at home, they were really flipping good) and then when Pitchers closed everyone went to the Poway Fun Bowl for some more fun. ahh. the good ol' days.

I went here on a Friday evening, it was busy and crowded.  The bartenders were really cool and effecient.  Drinks were fairly priced.  Overall, I would say that the crowd was local, but, surprisingly diverse.  Half the crowd was in their 20's, but there were several gray-haired gentlemen posted up too.

So, if you can tolerate a high ratio of bros with their baseball caps sideways and chicks with exposed buttcrack, you'll probably have fun.

Came here for lunch today. I usually eat at work but today since it was friday and we just wrapped up a phase of work, it felt like a good day to eat out.

We came in and had lunch while watching news updates on the latest shooting massacre in Binghamton, which is near my hometown, on the tv. Lots of older gentlemen there at this time fo day who appear to have a lot of experience drinking. Today I had the chicken salad sandwich. It was very good, best I've had this year. Perfectly toasted bread, fresh celery in the chicken salad, not too heavy on the mayo.  And of course, a PITCHER!

Perfect end to the week. I will be coming here more often for lunch and pitchers and to learn more about the art of drinking, from the old masters.

This spot is cool...  and its right down the street from my spot, the Tomcat...

It is really an awesome spot for the most part...  fairly inexpensive...  hot girls everywhere!...  and games n fun there...

its a fairly young crowd there lately though, and if your not like a graduate from the high school thats down the road from it...  be ready to be the odd person out of a flippin high school reunion...  goofy kids...  haha...

anyways...  being that i had been in Frisco for the past year or so I had almost forgot how goofy the girls act down south...  theres no joking around with them... there no acting like anything other than a douche bag if you wanna keep a conversation going for anymore than a couple minutes...  insecurities... they are a bitch...  and the girls down there don't even know how to act unless your a dick to them for the most part...  blah... haha...  anyways...  i know thats not for all girls but, it was a reality i had forgot about after my time up here in Frisco...

I always get  a little cranky if I'm anywhere north of Kearny Mesa, unless its coastal. Not off the 15.

This is a full bar and they have Guinness on tap plus decent bar grub but I still could not enjoy myself.

If you were'nt looking for this place you would never find it. What am I doing here ?! The area, not the actual bar itself. The bar is cool.

My friends seemed to be having a good time and the last thing I wanted was to be is a killjoy.

I drank enough booze for me to not care where I was anymore and I eventually found the crowd to be alright. Kinda. Not really.

Honestly, I just hate inland north county. Anything off the 5 is cool with me though. I am such a North Park snob.
