The acoustics at this location are awful!!!
The noise is terribly dreadful, ugh....!
My ears hurt because of all the racket and commotion going on.
One cannot carry on a conversation without talking excessively loud.
They need to install wall and ceiling diffusers that baffle and reduce the noise.
Pizzas are always great as too their beers.
If you prefer the loud sounds of arcade machines, the noise of patrons, as well as the staff and pizza makers, then by all means gravitate to this location, otherwise, do as I do and take it home.
Also their web page is a tad confusing. On the location tab it doesn't denote that the Bressi Ranch location is in Carlsbad, thus I ordered at the Carlsbad location, which is not where I wanted to pickup. Staff at Bressi Ranch was most accommodating.
Had been to Pizza Port in Solana beach several times in college.. Was not a fan. It smelled, took forever, and was run by the typical stoner dudes who always messed up orders.
Pizza Port Bressi Ranch-
Pros: Clean, fast, delicious, friendly staff!! Two bars! Fire pit, aquarium, games
Cons:
Super busy! Hard to find a table, extremely noisy. A bit pricey for pizza!
I'm going back, maybe to pick-up instead of eat-in
IT'S NUMMY!
Bottom Line: Very consistent with what you should expect from Pizza Port.
In a Few Words:
Food:  The usual PP grub . . . pizza, wings, salads, etc.
  Drinks:  Beer glorious beer!
Service: They're on top of it.  No stoners here!
Atmosphere: Loud and casual with lots of children running around.
The Details:
Now that I have been to this Pizza Port about ten times since they opened fix weeks ago, I am ready to launch my review! Initially I was only excited about Pizza Port because its  1/2 mile from my house and 1 and  1/2 miles from my work.  Seriously, how could you not be excited about a place that serves craft beer that is only a 15 minute saunter home?  Anyway, I must say, service here has been consistently good and I think they've done a great job with the place.  I am by no means super hot for PP like so many others, but I must give them some credit where credit is certainly due.  Here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
- Décor has stayed true to the Pizza Port vibe and exudes consistent branding
-Two bars! One upstairs and one downstairs.
-Lots of yummy craft brews and several rotating handles
-The downstairs patio with umbrellas and heated seats is great for dog-lovers and others
-Nice décor in the bathrooms.  Love the bathing suits to designate women's from men's.
-A bike rack for the Rancho Carrillo and Bressi Ranch Pizza Port goers.
-You can place food orders upstairs
- Location. Â Even if you can't walk here you can expect it to be a little less crazy since its kind of a destination spot
-New pager system makes it easier to know your food is ready instead of hearing, "Mumble, mumble Pizza is ready!"
-Awesome fish tanks from the guys on the show Tanked, granted the fish in the fermenter tank are totally different than what the Tanked guys put in there. Â Hmmm, I'll have the clown fish pizza please. Wink.
Cons:
-The parking lot can be a little nutty. Â
-It's loud, just like all of the other locations. Â It's the loudest downstairs thanks to the video games.
-The bar stools are three legged tripods and the stool is wider at the base than the stool top itself. Â This is a total trip hazard and I've seen the drunk and sober a like trip over the protruding legs. Â Silly design. A knit, I know.
A-OK!
Came to meet up with some friends. Â Parking is tough as this is a very popular place. Â VERY popular. Â And it's only the soft opening!
Well, some of my buddies got lucky and were able to grab some seats for us, many onlookers were not so lucky and had to wait around for people to leave to find seating.
Beers are good here. Â Decent variety, it changes very frequently. Â Lines can be pretty long just to get a pitcher.
Food... eh. Â Ehhhhhh. Â We had a few varieties.... bbq chicken... and some other veggie one. Â Ehhhhhh. Â That's how I feel about thep izza.
Would I come back? Â Sure, it's a great atmosphere, but it may be tough finding seating during prime time.
Pizza Port scores again with another fun location with great beer, great food, and great atmosphere. Â We went here the first week they opened and they were at max capacity so we went elsewhere. Â But we came back Monday and had a great time. Â The beer list was wonderful. Â I generally get a cheese pizza and it was awesome as usual. Â The fish tank is really cool. Â It's in a business park and next to some church but it's close to our house and we found seating easily. Â We will definitely be back often!
Review Source:I normally don't write review to express my frustration but here goes. This is my third time here since it's a 2 minute drive from my house. First time ordering and I probably won't come back. There's about six girls working in the front, one register open for ordering. There seems to be an issue with their program and I waited for about ten minutes for some kind of acknowledgement. Maybe a "hello,hi, ill be right with you" would be nice. The register girl seems to lost and confused asking one employee to another for help. Still no acknowledgment from anyone. All focus on talking to each other, joking with each other and staring at the wall while a line of customers waits. Zero stars for customer service. Four stars for pizza and beer! Instead of hiring pretty little girls in short shorts with bad customer service, you could hire pretty little girls in short shorts with a great sense of customer service. This is including the male guys working in that area also. What a bad experience. Customer service should be on point, they really need to retrain their employee!!
Review Source:It's a soft opening. Â That means don't expect too much and that is what you get. Â Great place if you have kids and want to let them run free. Â Communal seating arrangement and layout needs to be redone for a better flow. Â A little Feng Shui wouldn't hurt. Â I'd find a place at the upstairs bar overlooking the first floor. Â The beer selection is good and the pizzas are good, but the wings were a disappointment. Â Soggy and not at all spicy and they call them insanely hot. Â I saw a young woman behind the counter pick up a hand full of carrot and celery sticks and just throw them on top of the wings, then add some plastic containers of prepacked dressing as the next topping. Â I wonder where those hands have been. Â Other food arrived at the window, with no seeming urgency to find the customer when no one responds to the plaintive call of "Joe your order is ready". Â I also saw pizzas put on the counter and timed 4 minutes before the staff got on the horn to say" ...your order is ready" Â It was cold by then! Â The staff seems unhappy and uninformed. Â No one seemed to be in charge. Â The line went from out the door to no one then back out the door. Â Same with getting a beer. Â When there is a line they add more people, but not until a line forms...sort of the Albertsons Check Out method. Â And be prepared to wait at least 10 to 15 minutes more than you want to for your food. Â And pick it up as soon as they call your name unless you like cold pizza. Â But the worst offense was putting a plastic garbage pale right next to the Fermenter Fish Tank where the Kegerator should have been. Â A stinky pail of garbage next to your focal point. Â Â I sure do hope they get the kinks worked out.
Review Source:AWESOME!!!
So as with every single Pizza Port seating is the biggest flaw. With this new location ( hard to find if you don't know the area) They made big strides in the right direction!! Not only do they have great outdoor seating, with a fire-pit, they have a second area upstairs as well as a decent size main area!!!  They have a huge warehouse attached  where they brew all the beer goodness. Pizzas are just as good as any other location and they are working hard to get all the great beers in stock. unfortunately they were out of the honey wheat but the bartender suggested a great replacement for it. No doubt I will be back many many more times maybe even within this week! haha But seriously one of my favorite pizza and beer joints!
They have a great lunch special. A slice, a salad, and a drink for $5... you can upgrade to a beer for an extra $1
I like coming during the week for lunch, this seems to be the only time when the place isn't packed, littered with children screaming at the top of their lungs, and when you can actually find a parking place. The food is good and I love the sports on all the LCD's. Good selection of beer.
But for the life of me, i dont understand why they didnt do a better job with the parking lot. I mean they built the place to suit.... do the owners love to punish their customers?? Because all the Pizza Ports seem to have the same parking problem.... there isnt enough of it.
My SO and I went here yesterday, and even though we knew they were doing their soft opening and possibly still getting the kinks out, I was super disappointed in our experience. Â It took 40 mins for our wings to be ready, and no way would I say they were insanely hot. Â A good flavor, but lacked the crunch and heat I was expecting. Â I couldn't believe all the inconsistencies: 1) Â my soda "glass" was a cheap disposable cup, but other people had the tall acrylic glasses. Â 2) some people's pizzas were served in the boxes while others came on the platters. Â 3) some people were given pagers while others had their names called out when their order was ready. Â I agree with Steven M from NV about how the tables were too close to the counter. Â I didn't like how the soda fountain was tucked in the corner - very difficult to make my way to it. Â When we moved upstairs it was in a much better placement. Â One thing we both noticed was how unhappy and glum the employees seemed. Â When my SO went up after waiting 30 mins to check on our wings, the employee just told him they were being cooked and gave him no smile or apology. Â The busboy was sluffing around radomly picking up discarded cups, plates and napkins. Â He walked by our communal table 4 times, each time looking at the discarded items, before he finally cleared them. Â The employees behind the counter seemed very disorganized and confused and it seemed there was a real lack of leadership. Â Since they have been opened for two weeks, I doubt that things will change much. Â These things should've already been worked out by now.
Review Source:We love pizza port! We had our rehearsal dinner al the village location. The new location at bressi is unbelievable. Customer service was excellent and the food was amazing as usual. As new parents we love how kid friendly it is. My only suggestion, which might seems silly, is to have a baby gate on the second floor stairs. I know this seems crazy but its your target customer. Just food for thought.
Review Source:Visited June '13 with family and children.
Went during dinner time after a day at LEGOLAND (great way to end the day with some tired kids). Big place that was loud and full of people, mostly families. Lots of excitement in the air to add to the orders being announced over loud speakers, video arcade machines, chatter and laughter. Â A good family place that was safe and clean despite it being VERY busy.
I ordered a medium pizza with seafood on it (forget the name). Quality of the tomato sauce and crust was average, but toppings tasted really good. Prices are reasonable.
Even though there is a small lot in the back, there were no spots left so allow ample time to find parking, and more time to stand in line to order, and just a bit more time to wait for your food to be ready. Find seats ASAP!
I would return here, unless I have a headache and want to avoid noisy, crowded places. Friendly staff.
Love all of the Pizza Ports! This new location is currently open from 11-4 for their soft opening, but the food and beer is just as on point as any of the other locations (all of which we've visited besides San Clemente).
Tons of parking surrounding the building, long communal tables in the center dining room, seating at the bar, a long high top table with stools, and an upstairs seating area, along with an outside patio with fire pit makes this location stand out moreso than the others.
Very family friendly location with arcade games and their specially featured fermenter fish tank along the walls.
Order your food at the front counter, then order your beer at the bar. Grab some plates and utensils from the front, then grab a seat and enjoy :)
The newest Pizza Port installment is located in Bressi Ranch, which I had honestly never even heard of before this trip.
It's a strange location, basically in a business park. Â But everything is shiny and new and there is a great view from the upstairs part of the restaurant. Â It's only been open a short time, so it's still very crowded.
I am not sure I totally understand why they can't give you a number and deliver your pizza to your table - it is pretty inconvenient that you have to go downstairs to pick it up, even if you are seated upstairs. Â The upstairs bar is awesome if you are drinking, but that's about it. Â I am also not a fan of the communal seating. Â Would it really be that difficult just to have regular tables? Â
Anywho, all of the locations remain pretty busy, so they must be doing something right. Â I love supporting locally owned businesses, and the beer is pretty decent, but it just doesn't seem like they can keep up with the demand. Â The pizza is pretty good, but the service is lacking. Â If I pay $25 for a large pizza and another $20 for beer, can't you bring it to me? Â Pizza Port is a cash cow and they know it.
This locaton is only a few minutes from my friend's house in Vista, so I am sure I'll be back soon.
My first Pizza Port ever. My friends seemed astonished by the lack of crowdedness and space that was available during main lunch hours.
It was a great place to order and sitdown (both inside and out. The outside was great and they have a large fire that people can sit around. I hope they would light it at night).
The pizza was good, however I highly recommend the Scillian Pizza. Even being vegetarian, I think this might have been one of my favorite pizzas ever. With putting blackbeans under the cheese, this pizza really was a treat.
Beer: good, but growlers run as much as $24! For the same quality but $9 less, I can go 5 minutes up the road to Latitude, Iron Fist, or The Belching Beaver!
Seating: ok, not enough downstairs and whose bright idea was it to make customers carry beer and pizza up 2 flights of stairs?
Staff: similar to other Pizza Ports, they are either drinking on the job or stoned, or both...it can and should get better, I will give them another shot, but it needs work.
Hooray... another Pizza Port in Carlsbad. Â The new location is larger than the Carlsbad Village location (with an upstairs seating area), so you might be able to get a seat once the newness wears off. Â However, the signature community picnic tables remain a staple at this location. Â I was hoping they might have some better seating options at the new place, but I guess that is what they were going for. Â In true Port fashion, they have video games for the kids and serve your own soda station. Â I like that they have two bars (one upstairs), and they allow food ordering at each location as well as the front register.
We attended the soft opening on Thurs June 13, and it was packed (1 hour + wait for pizzas). Â We shared some quality pitchers of beer while waiting for our food. Â
The brewing area adjacent looks like they will have plenty of space for their planned beer canning process. That should be interesting to tour some day if they allow tours.
I agree their pizza isn't the best pizza around (see my Pizza list), but I like their tangy sauce and the less greasy feel/taste than the mass-produced shops (Papa Js, Doms, PHut). Â I give them 3 stars for the pizza, but the beer quality and selection earns them another star all on its own. Â Workers are friendly and knowledgeable on their beers is a plus too.
Alright haters.....gather round! I'll try to make this as painless as possible.
Is Pizza Port a successful business? 100%. Drive by any of their locations, Carlsbad, Solana Beach and there is always a nice size crowd. People sure do flock here and from a business stand point, the place is a success, no doubt about it.
However, I need someone (and don't say beer) to explain to me what the draw is here. Let's talk about the Carlsbad location which just opened in particular. First off, the parking is horrible. The place was not even packed to capacity and the parking was miserable. Then again, look at their location in the Village or on 101 in Solana, not better by any means so I guess if you want this pizza bad enough - you'll park, walk or ride the bus.
Second, the tables are too close to the register where you order and for the size of this establishment, having two registers, only one was open on 6/17 when we went it's unacceptable. The line to order was more than 8 deep. With the tables to close to the counter where you order, if there were people there, we would have been standing butt to back to them, not cool. Re-arrange the tables guys and why only two cashier stations for a restaurant that has walk up to order service and holds over 150 by capacity?
Third, the pizza? No way! Every time I see a conveyer in place that means I am going to be disappointed and boy was I. Because of the sheer volume here there is no way they could have ovens. There would be 40 pies in there at one time and it would be a logistical nightmare. So the assembly line and conveyer is the only way to go. The pizza was flooded with sauce then layered with meet and then topped with cheese. So what happens? Everything slides off when you go to pick it up. Crust was crunchy but the center was soggy, floppy and gross.
Again, the business model here is off the chart. Pizza Port is making bank and running a successful chain of pizza and beer places but that doesn't make the food great. I don't feel my experience was out of the norm. I don't see how that pizza could have been as delicious as I wanted it to be. Pre-fab sausage, a few pepperoni on there, for what I paid for a small 10" pie, I'm just disappointed to the 3rd degree.
The draw here is NOT the good food, I'm sorry. It's the beer, the atmosphere, bring the kids, watch some sports, spread out at the picnic table, sense of community maybe who knows but if you are desiring delicious, tasty, full flavored pizza - don't expect that.
Batter up Pizza Port.........what do you have to say about that?
I have been waiting for months for Pizza Port to finally open in Bressi Ranch. This past week they opened the doors. As of right now, the restaurant is open but the brewing facility is pretty empty. I heard somewhere it would be in production by July (not that it matters for visitors, but worth a note)
The food is pretty much what you've come to expect. Obviously they are still ironing out all the kinks as the wait time for pizza was well over an hour and the salad we got in advance was kinda weak (almost no dressing).
However, the place is awesome. Two stories, some great games, and for a business that just opened their doors a few days earlier - they were PACKED. Being so close to my house, I plan on going to this location often for a post-work brew.
As far as the other pizza ports , this one is much bigger. but not big enough. The place was packed but having such a good selection of craft beers we did not mind the long wait for the food. The Hot wings were a perfect complement to the IPA's from San Clemente that were on Tap. We did not stay for dinner because the wait would have been too long.
Great location with decent amount of parkin, good food and great selection of Beer, so ya Im a fan and I will return soon : )
This new location is spectacular. Â Plenty of seating for the several businesses in the area, and the neighborhoods after work hours. Â
Lunch special is quite generous (I'll be impressed if it remains at the same price in the future as the salad is HUGE). Â I would recommend, to the kitchen staff, that the lettuce be cut better in the future. Â The pieces are a little too large to be eaten in one bite. Â One or two additional prep cuts should do the trick.
While waiting in line to get a pint, I was coaxed upstairs by, well, I'll call him "Beer Jesus" to their full bar in the upstairs dining area. Â No wait. Â Excellent. Â You can also order food from upstairs, too, which is super helpful.
Really, just a solid joint. Â I hope they start a brewery tour in the future when it's complete.
Can't wait to go back.
Was disappointed that a restaurant that seats 300 people and sells high profit margin items like beer and pizza forces you to use cash (ATM is located in the restaurant and charges you $2.98 for the pleasure of using your own money - this of course, is in addition to your bank's own fee's). Really, the 2% merchant fee just isn't do-able? You can imagine this place turning many 20K+ days...just seems cheesy, but I guess if you are prepared with cash then your golden. Really hope this is a temporary stop-gap until someone signs a credit card contract.......
This location is clean and shiny new (for now) fully staffed with teens wrapped in disposable aprons and latex gloves in the kitchen, no one cleaning the pile of straws that had spilled from the beer pitcher that was used to store them.
Once again, best in class beer list that leans very heavily to IPA but has some interesting beers around the margin. I had the Mo Betta Bretta and some interesting sage, rosemary infused Belgian Ale.
The food is consistent with other locations, nothing special about the garlic veggie pizza we had, very thick doughy crust, sweet tomato sauce etc. We had the Caesar salad and it was cut up romaine with bottled dressing and pre-shredded supermarket style Parmesan cheese.
Really, this place will be packed I'm sure, with families who live near by and who are looking for something other then the corporate chain restaurants the dot the local landscape.
Review based on the soft opening.
Employees did a great job handling the unexpected rush for what was supposed to be a soft opening.
Showed just how popular Pizza Port is.
Pizza was great.
The beer list was comprised of beers from all the Pizza Port locations.
The beers tried where very good; as to be expected.
The facility itself was spacious.
Overall the new location is definitely a flagship for Pizza Port.
Another win for Pizza Port! Great new spot, and close to home! I couldn't resist stopping by today - the first officially open day - for a lunch special. The layout reminds me most of the San Clemente location, because there's an upstairs dining room and bar. There is also patio seating outside. Perfect for the solo patron or a group. Maintains the Pizza Port charm, with clean, modern updates to the seating, kitchen, and bathrooms.
The lunch special is the bomb - hearty slice of pizza, large side salad, and soda for $4.99, or upgrade to beer (duh) for a dollar or two more. Who needs a footling sub when you can get such a good deal at Pizza Port??
Happy coincidence: the newest Pizza Port location opens the same week we move to the neighborhood. Honey, if I'm not home by 9, you know where to find me!
