My favorite pizza ever. I haven't been able to stop in for a few years now since I'm not up there anymore, but I can't imagine it's changed that much. The sweetness of the pizza is something I still brag about today. When I make pizza at home, I try my best to replicate it. Not sure if I'm close or not, but it does remind me of it. Great little place. Just addictive.
Review Source:Friendly staff. Â I only lost $15 on Keno.
Ok, that's all I could think of for positive comments. Â Honestly wish I had better to say. Â It's a local place for me, and a place I wouldn't mind going to watch a game every now and then. Â Perhaps if I eat first, and bring a flyswatter.
Sweet crust pizza. Â Never tasted anything like it before, and unless my next slice comes with marshmallow and caramel, I'm probably all set. Â Sweet and pizza meat in my book just don't pair. Â Maybe with an alfredo sauce, and some carmelized onions and prosciutto.....but that's getting a bit too artisan for this spot.
Fruit flies. Â Tough problem to solve. Â On the same screen that I am typing this review, I see another review from September 4 complaining about the same flies. Â Gotta fix this.
Sorry guys.....
I'm a pizza-lover, and have even worked at 4 different pizza places, and this is by far my favorite pizza.
Everyone has different opinions on what the best pizza should be, but the crust here is just amazing, and the toppings are  always fresh.
The only negatives are that the pizza sometimes can come out a little bit different than the time before, but honestly I've probably eaten 70 pizzas from here- and 68 of them were perfect. Â There's also a bar on the other side that I go to sometimes which has good drinks.
I consider myself to be a connoisseur of pizza...a pizza savant if you will ;P...and this pie sucked.
First of all, the crust was under-salted, spongey, soggy and undercooked. Typical of many western mass pizza joints. One review on here claims "beer battered Crust" WTF is that?
Not Italian in any way, as proper pizza should be.
Next the sauce was bland, with little to no spice or tomato flavor.
The toppings were a bit better. Cheese was of good quality. onions (Raw)peppers mushrooms were fresh. pepperoni was of average quality for western mass.
Value was far below average. We ordered a large but this would pass as a medium or even a small at most area pizza shops. Pice count is irrelevant because slices were half the normal size. Also website prices are incorrect and we got soaked an extra $1.50 for this subpar pie at checkout for their mistake.
Pizza is very cheap and easy to make and it never ceases to amaze me how careless and sloppy western mass pizza places are with such a simple food. Whats even worse is that people have such low standards that they will happily pay for this slop.
You cant find better at Pepas, Tony's, Antonios, Family Pizza...and even Big Y!
My boyfriend worked here many moons ago. Â I finally went in to try it one night, and we've had it a few times since.
We've had the pizza, fries, veal parm. dinner, steak & cheese wrap, & chicken wings. Â Everything was awesome. Â The only thing I could have done without is the greasiness of the steak & cheese wrap. Â It's really, really good, just just a little to wet from grease.
There is a parking lot for this place, but it's really, really small and difficult to maneuver in since the place is almost always jam packed with people.
The inside is nice. Â There's the take out counter, and a large, full dining room off to the right which is comfortable to sit in. Â Great waitstaff AND take out staff. Â Quality food & fairly priced.
A couple of friends of ours actually did the art on the walls in the dining room. Â This should definitely be your go-to place for Italian take-out when you're in the area. Â However, I'd recommend delivery on Friday and Saturday nights due to the small parking lot and the bazillion people.
Ok, maybe it loses something in take-out vs. eating there, but we were sooo excited to try this place, after all the outstanding reviews. Â Hubby found himself in this area today so he stopped by for a big takeout order (note to self: stop getting a whole bunch of things at new places until we determine if a place REALLY IS as yummy as they say.....)
What a huge disappointment! Â We actually got a few things to try, not just the pizza (altho that was THE major draw for us, and thusly, the major problem), the taste of the dough is WEIRD. OK...VERY weird.
Maybe it is an acquired taste, maybe you need to grow up with it, I could certainly understand if that might be the case. But we could not eat it. We tried it cold, we tried it heated. We tried adding some sprinkle Parmesan cheese on it, thinking maybe it would mask the flavor.
Call us pizza snobs. I already KNOW Â I am fussy about my pizza. BUT i also like many styles of pizza....but this one, i am heartbroken to say, just did not do it. Â The flavor can only be described as indescribable! Suffice it to say that we ate what we could (meaning the garlic bread w/ cheese and the chicken fingers) and the birds will get the crust of the pieces of pizza we threw away.
I know I will be unpopular with the locals who gave it such high marks. Like I said, it is probably an acquired taste you grew up with. But for people who have said it's the best in Western MA, I truly feel bad for everyone out there if this represents the best. Â As much as I hate Pizza chains, I would almost take one of those cardboard pies over this.
Oh, let me say one thing, the dough WAS very soft and fresh. That was something in it's favor. HOWEVER, having grown up around Boston, I don't want my pizza SOFT. I like my pizza thin and crispy in the middle, with a nice fat outer rim of crust. Â This was about 1/2 inch thick from center to edge, with no puffiness at the outer rim. If it was breadier, I would almost call it Greek style, but not quite. It was just soft and had a very strange flavor.
Just because we won't be back doesn't mean you should not try it, I'm just trying to give you a fair explanation of what to expect...... It might be your thing. But for us, it sadly was not. BUMMER!
Pizza Shoppe knows how to make good pizza. Â Whether it's cheezy goodness, pepperoni, vegetable, etc., they make a good large pizza with a lot of cheese and a lot of good ingredients. Â It's probably one of, if not the, best pizza in the general Western Mass area.
The restaurant itself is quite nice too, a little bit of a log cabin sort of thing if I remember correctly.
This is the best pizza I've ever had, hands down.
The crust is beer battered and absolutely amazing. No matter what I get on my pizza I'm always so impressed, and I usually only like cheese. Whenever I head out to Western Mass I try to plan my time around grabbing some food at Pizza Shoppe.
On a summer night it usually gets pretty packed in there with old men softball leagues, so take out is the better option.
