Deliciously grilled food and gyros. Â Wife loved her salad and gyros was yummy, with a view of the ocean. Â Was in the heart of the restaurant and shop area, plus perfect for my kid to run around while we ate on the patio. Â The owner, or cook(very impressed if so) was overly courteous and friendly, if that is possible. Â Large wine craffs were worth the $ and overall just a delight. Â Decently priced, large menu for just steps to the sand...
It was chilly when we went, so didn't get harassed by the bird frenzy, but the droppings were everywhere. Â It can't be helped with a joint this close to the beach, but may be a nuisance to some.
This is one of the several casual eat-outside joints right at the hub of Fort Myers Beach. (Tables have umbrellas to get you out of the sun.) Â Had the Greek salad with pita and hummus one day, a vegetarian gyro-ish thing another (called "Never on Sunday" or something like that), all of which I LOVED; my sidekicks had gyros, and all were happy with their meals. Â On weekend eves, there is live music in the middle of the square (hit and miss quality, but we lucked out the first night), and a seat at Plaka's is the best seat in the house. Â The service is super friendly to a fault (props to our girl Marivel and the young Keys transplant whose name I didn't get!).
I know the reviews for this place are mixed, and maybe a few more visits would give me reason to relate to some of the more negative ones, but for now, I'm with Frank N., who says it (nearly) all for me!
As a Greek at a Greek restaurant these are no phonys. Food is right on, environment is perfect and the service is friendly. Perfect for lunch after morning in the sun. My mother had a gyro and loved it, I only had chicken tenders but they were just how I like them. The services was wonderful and not annoyed by the fact that I didn't know you can just sit where ever. My waiter even giggled at my moms attempts at humor and that really counts. Its right on the boulevard off the beach and that made it that much better, you could still feel a breeze off the water. For a restaurant with such prime real estate they could have jacked up the prices but they didn't. Perfect for any meal of the day
Review Source:The gyro was fantastic. Â My daughter got the cheeseburger and it was thick, juicy and filling. Â The small greek salad was enough for two or more. Â The dressing was a little oily and it needed beets but the feta was crumbled and delicious. Â It wasn't too pricey but you are in prime real estate on the beach in Times Square.
Review Source:I agree with the Austin reviewer. Â The food is ok but the view is great. Â It's a fantastic spot for people watching since it is right next to the parking lot and the pier. Â You can get mixed drinks too but they poor them really, really, really weak. Â Try a couple beers instead and then grab a float and get in the ocean. Â That's a good feeling. Â The food is better than going to Dairy Queen and fighting through all the kids to get a small burger. Â A gyro or greek salad will fill you up for lunch and then you can get back to the beach.
Review Source:Some great Greek food on the boardwalk across from Dairy Queen.
I had the famous Gyros and have to say I loved them! Â The pita itself had a nice buttery flavor and a great toast to it! Â The meat was cut into some thick and some thin chunks and that made it authentic.
The service has always been excellent and if you are a people watcher, then this place is perfect. Â It's right next to the pier entrance and the central beach entrance so the eye candy is a plenty!!!
