4 visits past three years. Â Once for Valentine's day, once for Restaurant Week, once for brunch (on a Groupon), once for dinner with friends last night.
Last night had the filet, while wife had the stuffed chicken. The filet is served atop a bed of yukon gold potatoes and asparagus. Â Tasty. Â Nothing special. Â Service was just a tad slow but capable. Â Fried calamari starter was sublime.
I must admit that the setting is quaint and romantic. Â Important-looking people dine here :-) Â Most conspicuous of P.G.'s challenges is in comparison to Tulsa's other top notch steakhouses: if you like a modern, noisy environment, Flemings is just across the way (highly recommended); if you prefer a stately, quiet dining experience, then Mahogany. Â For what it is, slightly overprices (steaks run $37 - 47 - 60; at the middle/ upper end, I'd rather the "prime" establishments noted)
Never had a terrible experience. Â Likewise never had a great experience. Â Classic 3*.
This place is very fancy! I went in jeans and a jacket...I sure did feel out of place. But the chairs are super comfortable and the food was pretty good.
This is the place to go if you want a very romantic setting and want want to dress up. And if you don't mind spending a lot of money on food.
My wife and I recently enjoyed a great evening at the Polo Grill. We were made to feel welcomed by everyone we came in contact with from the minute we entered until we left. The service was the best I've experienced at any restaurant. The atmosphere was quiet and comfortable. Everything that we ordered was delicious. We also enjoyed the items brought to the table complements of the chef. I highly recommend the Polo Grill and I look forward to eating there again in the near future.
Review Source:I had a bad experience in this restaurant. The service was terrible. The waiter did not pay attention to the table and we had to wait was wine that was ordered and not brought until after we had eaten part of thev meal and glasses were emptied and not filled for long periods of time. They then charged 23 percent tip for poor service. No restaurant has ever charged more than 20%.The food was good but over priced and I own a wine shop and the wine was marked up 4 times.Crazy.
Review Source:New Years Eve dinner- Shrimp and Bacon appetizer was average. Â Salads; I had the Caesar, wife had 7 leaf....both average. Â Entrees, Â Lamb excellent, filet also excellent. Â Service spotty, servers forgot bread for our table. Â Salads were served before we finished the appetizer, Â glasses empty way before we were offered another drink. Â Empty plates stayed entirely too long for fine dining. Â Total grade c+. Â Average for a $200.00 meal for two...... Not in a big hurry to return. Â Lots of people working the floor but they were all confused.
Review Source:Went to this restaurant with a couple of other judges during Pinto World Championship 2012--highly recommended
Escargot interesting but good. Â Merlot, house suggestion average. Â Ordered filet mignon medium rare-here is the bite-
arrived rare & cool in the middle-tough-when I cut into it, striations indicate sirloin cut as filet(work in meat production).  Waiter was very polite, when I asked to speak w/chef or manager, he just sort of stared off---This restaurant would not make it in the Los Angeles  or San Francisco market, despite trappings, dark aging furniture, amuse bouche(salsa on toast) & all---sad
A focus on customer service and good food, that's what you'll get at the Polo Grill. Â Came here for a client dinner and we were not disappointed. Â I agree with Rod S., I am sure the steak is awesome but there is a little something for everyone. Â I had the salmon dish and a garden salad. Â The service was great, the food was the right size, had great flavor and was perfectly prepared. Â
It's got a cute atmosphere and looked like a favorite spot for business dinners or special occasions. Â If I'm back in Tulsa, I'll head back here.
The only way we could afford Polo Grill was to eat during restaurant week; however, the bill was still pretty hefty. During restaurant week, you are able to choose from a fixed three course menu limited to three selections for the appetizer and entree and one selection for the dessert.
For my appetizer, I had the lobster bisque which I loved. I am a big fan of bisque so any chance I get, it's usually the choice that wins above all. For my entree, I chose the tenderloin petite medallions which came with mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables and béarnaise sauce. It was absolutely delicious! The meat was perfectly cooked and the sauce was to die for. The New York style cheesecake tasted fine, but no different than what you would find at Cheesecake Factory.
On the restaurant itself, it had a romantic ambiance with very dim mood lighting. Everyone was dressed very formally which included both the patrons and waitstaff.
It was fun to get dressed up and go out for a very nice dinner, but be mindful that it will cost a lot.
We were a group of 10 and enjoyed the selection of dishes and wine. However, I was surprised by being charged a 23% (!) gratuity, which I have not encountered ANYWERE else in Tulsa restaurants. Everyone paid separately, so I really don't understand the reason for the high gratuity, especially considering that my glass of water stood empty and was not re-filled once during last hour of the meal.
Review Source:You. Should. Be. ASHAMED. Â I have never been more ripped off by a high end restaurant in my entire life.
Tonight I entertained a group of 10, including some important guests. Â Jamie from Polo Grill, is mentioned by name only so we know exactly who didn't reveal there would be a hidden surcharge for putting us in the private room we did not request in the first place, in the form of a massively trumped up gratuity.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, the first problem is my steak. Â The "cowboy" chop, the most expensive ordered by anyone in the group at $67 was WAY overcooked. Â Medium-plus being generous on my medium-rare request. Â Because I was entertaining guests, I was not in a position to make a scene and send it back. Â In my mind this is an absolute deal breaker for a high end restaurant, particularly one that pretends to be a steakhouse. Â Stop trying to be a hero, chef, and just get a digital meat thermometer. Â Works like a charm...
But I didn't feel ripped off just yet. Â Four apps, ten soups and salads, ten entrees, desserts and coffees...oh and FIVE BOTTLES of Silver Oak. Â You'd think there would be some appreciation or at least get the bill right. Â The check comes and there is a 16% gratuity added. Â Okay, no problem as I pass my AmEx over, because that is actually reasonable. Â But what comes back for me to sign is a bill that has been covertly changed to 23%. Â Yes 23% mandatory gratuity ON TOP OF THE WINE! Â You have got to be kidding me. Â Again, being in front of guests I played it cool hoping to take care of it after everyone else left.
Disappointingly the manager, a short brunette whose name I cannot remember, refused to take the burnt steak off. Â She graciously (sic) reduced the gratuity to 20% from 23%, which being on top of the wine and bad food is still outrageous.
What a joke. Â If you have money in your pocket to burn, take your business to Mahogany which is less than seven miles away and has one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. Â They also have Silver Oak if you are so inclined to have a glass with your perfect steak. Â And if you're not in the mood to drive, Flemings is literally in the same parking lot as Polo and experience has shown you will be treated significantly better.
P.S. I really liked the stone ground grits that came with the steak, my coworker thought the chili/soup was the best he'd ever had, and most people really enjoyed their meals. Â But when you make the host feel like this, what does it matter?
We enjoyed our food and the experience so much the first night, we went back the next evening for more. Â However, there was one downer to that experience and it was the really, really bad attitude of the Sommelier. Â It ruined the evening for us before it ever got started. Â That being said... I'll speak to the first night. Â My husband had the rack of lamb and gives it 4.5 stars. Â I had the New York strip with mushrooms. Â It was truly unlike any NY strip I've ever had. Â I'm a filet girl all day long, but on the recommendation of our hotel concierge I ordered the NY. Â Positively delicious, cooked to perfection and the demi glaze was wonderful. Â The chopped caesar salad's flavors were well balanced and the mushrooms were yummy. Â The service was truly first class (excluding the previous mention). Thank-you to Jason, our waiter of the first evening. Â I also have to give some credit to Zack, the bartender who was working the second night. Â He did his very best to make up for the bad behavior of his co-worker. This is a must eat at restaurant if you are in Tulsa!
Review Source:I'm not certain I would only categorize it as a steakhouse. Â Fine dining is what I would call it.
Went there last night for a special wine dinner and I was very happy to see that service and food levels are still amazingly high after all of these years. Â Very professional service. Â The food was fantastic, especially when you consider they were serving 50 - 60 people. Â
I haven't tried the normal dinner service in a long time, but now I will. Â If it is as good as the wine dinner, then I am highly recommending the Polo Grill. Â Looks perfect for business or a special night out.
We went here for our anniversary last weekend. Â Seven years earlier, we had been there to celebrate our engagement. Â We live in NYC but were visiting my family in the Tulsa area. Â This is our absolutely favorite place to have steak, anywhere. Â For some reason, the steak in Tulsa tastes better than the steak in NYC, and the steak here is the best of all. Â This is definitely an expensive, special occassion restaurant, but the staff is very friendly, attentive, and they make you feel at home (not snobby like some special occassion restaurants). Â We had the tomato bisque to start, which tasted very fresh--not at all like Campbell's cream of tomato, if that makes sense. Â It was delicious. Â We then shared the cowboy ribeye steak--DEFINITELY enough there to share. Â Unlike many ribeyes, it was well marbled but not gristle-y. Â The jalapeno grits, asparagus, spinach, and sauteed mushrooms were all delicious as well. Â They brought us champagne for our anniverary on the house, which was extremely kind of them, and which we enjoyed immensely. Â For dessert we had the key lime pie and the home made fudge, both of which we adored. Â Thank you so much for making our anniversary so special!
Review Source:I went to Polo Grill last night for Valentine's Day :). It was great, our server was on point and wonderfully polite. This is a very nice restaurant for Tulsa and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Our wine was wonderful and food great as well. I enjoyed a strawberry spinich salad, stuffed chicken with the best sauce yum and a tasty key lime slice of pie. Although it is pricy I felt like we got what we paid for and would definitely return for another special occassion :)
Review Source:Nice place with excellent steaks. Â
The decor is a bit tired and old school, it had a very crowded feel to it. Â Prices were VERY high; $37 for an 8 oz filet, mashed potatoes and a few spears of asparagus. Â Salads were of average quality.
The steaks were very good, desserts, also. Â
Service was only ok for place at this price point. Â Waiter was attentive, but not pushy (a good thing). Â Bar service was very slow. Â Out of the 6 steaks we ordered, 2 were not done correctly. Â The issue was fixed immediately without fuss.
I've dined at some of the best restaurants in the world. Â This is not one of them. Â It seems to me, they're living off the reputation they created over many years in business. Â I won't go back, though. Â The value is not there.
4-4 1/2 stars
Great vibe, cool place. Very romantic, unfortunately I was with business associates so the romantic aspect was diminished. They were still nice company.
Great service. All the selections we ordered were delicious. I had the Salmon Tamale because it was unique. My associates had the Filet and another Salmon selection. Excellent choices, they were all prepared perfectly.
Excellent wine list covering all price ranges.
This is a top rated desination for obvious reasons.
The Polo Grill is a fine restaurant with some of the best food in Tulsa, nice ambiance, but sometimes iffy service. Â I recently had the salmon tamale(I think) and it was great if for no other reason than I could taste the fish. Â Too many places in Tulsa try to hide the fish in the sauce. Â Honestly, from a business perspective, if this place had great service, it could not be in Tulsa. Â The prices are not unreasonable for the quality of the food, so they must have decided to do the best they can with inexperienced wait staff. Â We once ordered the tasting menu and it was a comedy of forks, knives and wine glasses. Â It was delicious but the server seemed confused. The wine list is excellent. Â The atmosphere quiet and subdued. The polo Grill is the perfect place in Tulsa for a quiet dinner with good food and good wine.
Review Source:Came here for a business dinner. Â Amuse bouche was non-other than a beef-based bite, which was actually light. Â Pork chop was fantastic.. juicy, yet flavorful and perfectly cooked all around. Â Filet was reportedly overdone (not rare enough), but the 14oz NY Strip was apparently the best ever. Â Even the pasta was a cut above. Â
Although we ordered a la carte, the menu does have a chef's tasting , which is somewhat rare for a steak house. Â I'm sure if these dishes are executed like our dinners, that menu would be worth it. Â
Beer selection is quite good, as is the wine list. Â
Probably a top 2 steakhouse in Tulsa. Â 4 stars for the flavorful pork chop, 1 off for the not-bloody enough filet.
An old friend that I have been at before and not for years! This is the best place to dine in Tulsa bar none, and better than many of the "best" restaurants around the nation. I tried another of the nice restaurants in Tulsa and it wasn't nearly as good.
I had the petite medallions cooked medium rare and they were perfect along with the asparagus and the sauce, just nothing to not be liked about this place.
Food was awesome. Waiter was irritating - a bit too snooty for no obvious reason. The atmosphere is darkish. Not the best business lunch atmosphere in my very humble, and simple opinion.
I had the fillet medallions, which melted in my mouth. The potatoes were awesome, buttery mashed with little chunks. Me likes much.
Enjoy. Oh, and watch your step coming in - the brick walkway is very uneven.
We had a private dinner for 4 in the Oaxley wine room. Â The service was impeccable. Â Of course, at 23% automatic gratuity, it better be! Â I had pre-arranged for our group to try the Pinot Noir private dinner menu which is a pre-set menu. Â Stephanie, the private events coordinator, was very pleasant to work with, and extremely flexible. Â I was able to substitute the salad choice and add another dessert choice. Â I really enjoyed my rack of lamb. Â The pistachio and mint sauce really complemented the lamb. Â My fiance had the 14 oz New York strip. Â Now THAT is a hunk of meat. Â Wowzers. Â It was okay. Â We think there was just too much of it. Â The mashed potatoes that was paired with the steak was really good! Â The favorites of the night were the lobster bisque and the house-baked fudge with ice cream. Â YUM-MEEE!
Review Source:My wife and I love this place. Â The service is probably the best service that I have had anywhere and the food is so good. Â If you can't decide just get a steak and you won't be disappointed. Â The surf and turf is also wonderful but be ready to fork over the money. Â My wife got the roasted chicken (or something like that) one time. Â It was a half chicken and the flavor was spot on. Â I am positive that I have absolutely nothing bad to sat about this place.
Review Source:Their steaks are the best in town! They have a great wine list and there is always some one there to help you out with your selection. Â There is also a quaint bar with great booths. You can have the bar menu, or the full menu in the bar or the dining room. So if you want the experience, but no the high bill you can do that!!!! I love it!
The tomato bisque is the best ever. Have it with Robert's Romaine salad.
The Polo Grill is a nice place located in the Utica Square shopping center. The place is quite and intimate, I good place to take a date. The service is always excellent and the food is consistently superb. Prices are on the moderate to expensive side. Because it is located in a shopping center parking is usually not a problem.
For starters I recommend trying the  Portobello Mushroom appetizer. It is a roasted Portobello Mushroom, stuffed with escargot and topped with melted goat cheese.
For an entree, I recommend the Filet. They coat their steaks in a demi glaze that is very flavorful. They come with mashed potatoes and asparagus on the side.
