Finally got to check this place out.
Service- very good and attentive. We never had to ask for a refill.
Food- Good. We ordered the Guac (highly recommend), the Fritto- decent and I got the Herb roasted chicken (delicious) with garlic spinach (good). Everyone else at our table seemed to enjoy the food.

I'd def go back and try another dish!

After our initial visit during Restaurant Week had some issues and my review was posted, I was contacted by the manager Ron and offered a gift card to give Prime Cut Cafe & Wine Bar another try. I am all about second chances, so the better half and I made reservations for dinner on at 6:30pm on Saturday night. We ended up running late (California traffic even on Saturday), so I called the restaurant to inform them of the situation and they moved my reservation to 6:45pm.

Once we arrived, I realized the reservations wouldn't have been necessary at this time, the restaurant wasn't packed. Since it was a nice evening, we decided to eat outside on the patio. The seating on the patio was very comfortable, but the table was a little wobbly (uneven surface?). It did get a little cold for my lovely wife at one point (short sleeves weren't a good choice) and we requested the heat lamp be turned on. The one near us didn't work, but they quickly found another and Laina was once again comfortable.

As the name indicates, beef dominates the menu here. They boast USDA Prime Cuts of Hangar Steak, Petite Filet Mignon, CAB (Certified Angus Beef) Center Cut New York Strip and CAB Ribeye. They also have 2 sizes of Aged CAB Prime Rib, the Petite and Prime cuts. The steaks are served with Whipped Potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding and Sauteed or Creamed Spinach. There is also a good variety of Starters, Chicken Signature Items, Specialties, Sandwiches (Including 3 Burgers), Entree Salads, several Side Dishes and Dessert.

I had already decided on the Prime Rib before we arrived and my wife selected the same. She ordered the Petite Cut (8 oz.) with the Whipped Potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding and Sauteed Spinach. I order the Prime Cut (12 oz.) substituting French Fries for the Whipped Potatoes and Burgundy Mushrooms (an additional $2) instead of the Spinach. We also ordered a serving of the Home Baked Foccacia (Warm House Made Rosemary, Caramelized Onion and Olive Oil Foccacia) to start.

The Foccacia ( http://www.yelp.com/user… ) was definitely the low point of the meal, thankfully we were informed by the waiter that it was complimentary after we sent the first serving back. It was served cold and there was some sort of back taste that I couldn't identify that my palate was definitely not digging. The second order came out warmer and my better half requested some butter which made the bread more edible.

Rohlinism: Butter makes everything better, ask my wife!

Our meals came out relatively fast, but initially the servers bringing the food forgot my wife's Whipped Potatoes. Once we saw our regular server again, he brought out the side. Honestly, all the sides were a hit. Laina thought the Whipped Potatoes might be some form of instant on the initial inspection, but one taste proved her wrong. She also enjoyed the Sauteed Spinach which was nicely flavored with Garlic. She even tried some Shoestring Fries (not usually a fan) while she was waiting for her Whipped Potatoes and thought they were very good. Being allergic to mushrooms, she wasn't offered a sample of the Burgundy Mushrooms and they were excellent and all for me. I love not being allergic to anything! The Yorkshire Pudding actually had more of the texture and taste of Popovers, it was missing that rustic taste I associate with Yorkshire Pudding, but was really good all the same. The Prime Ribs ( http://www.yelp.com/user… ) were cooked to order and the Creamy Horseradish had a nice flavor without too much kick which my wife probably really appreciated. The Prime Rib itself was good, I have had better, but I have also had far worse.

We took a look at the dessert menu, but decided to pass after realizing most of the items would take 15 minutes to make because these desserts are made to order from scratch. With only three dessert items available for immediate service, management may want to instruct the wait staff to mention dessert once the main courses have been served. This gives the diners the opportunity to order dessert and have it come out shortly after the main course is finished.

The service was decent. I don't remember having to ask for refills, the staff dealt with the broken heat lamp in a timely manner and I didn't feel like I had entered The Twilight Zone just because I was eating on the patio (I can't tell you how many times I have felt abandoned just because I was eating on the patio). There were some minor tics already mentioned and for some reason I either didn't get my card back with the bill or I left it with the bill after I left the restaurant (I really have to stop hanging with Roy B., his Alzheimer's is rubbing off on me). I noticed the next morning, called Prime Cut and they were holding my card. So it cost me some gas and a "drive of shame", but I have my card back.

All's well that ends well.
