My first visit back since the remodel - the bar looks much nicer although there were some semi-sketchy homeless people freeloading on pretzels and panhandling the customers. Sue, the bartender, was very nice and pours a stiff drink but I think she needs a bouncer to keep the riff-raff out of the bar.

So I might be a little bias, since I used to live up the street from good ol' Randy's, but I really love the place. It's not the bar to go to if you're looking for a night on the town or a party atmosphere. But it's a great place to grab CHEAP STRONG drinks from the nice old lady Sue. Tip her well, she's a great lady.

She runs the bar mostly by herself, and has for years. 3 dollar well drinks all day every day. You can usually find the same collection of locals there during the week, but on the weekend you'll get a mixed crowd. Ocean Ave isn't exactly where people come to party so it's never too crowded. But if you're in the neighborhood it's a great place to hang out. Very welcoming, very clean. Did I mention three dollar drinks?

If you are looking for a small, dive bar with good company, cheap drinks and a very nice and sweet bar owner (Sue) this is the place.  They also have TVs for the games, pool table and jukebox.  Will definitely be frequenting this place

Just moved into the neighborhood and was delighted to stop in at Randy's place to catch the final Giants World Series winning game for the 2012 season. Woot.

It looks a little, um, grisly? from the outside. But let me tell you, I've never had more attentive beer snack service or a cleaner dive bar bathroom experience in.my. life.

The mere fact that even considered putting those community Bugles in my mouth was directly related to the cleanliness of that bathroom. Seriously, it smelled really good and was fully stocked with the required paper products and there were no questionable stains or puddles in sight. I was tempted to sneak into the men's room to see if it was an across the board attention to sanitation, or just a lack of women needing to use the facilities. Next time.

Besides that, the crowd was a perfect blend of characters. A veritable social buffet if you will,  and everyone seemed right at home.

$4 pints and its dog friendly too! Oh and there is a pizza place a couple doors down with $1 slices you can bring in to the bar. And dice behind the bar.

Nothing fancy. No expectations. Just right.

It was a dive bar...but a cool-ass dive bar at that.

My first visit was great and met some locals and regulars and had a great time; We shot pool and shot the shit for a while until I realized that I had to go.

The prices are very reasonable and Sue was a very friendly and attentive as everyone posts that she is.

Had I not moved away from Westwood park then I'd still stop by for a quick drink and good laughs.  But, it's a bit of a trek from Diamond Heights so I guess I'll have to stop by the next time I'm in the 'hood.

I think the most important thing you need when you come in is an open attitude and a cool disposition without politics.  If you bring politics in then you ought to have the right ones in hand.. ;)

Fun bar which is temptingly close to City College, maybe a little too close.  The only other bar in the area is Friends, but my friends say that place is better at night.  Looks nicer, I think they remodelled recently.  Good prices on drinks too.

This place is awesome! My roommate and I went last night for the first time and fell in love. It doesn't look like the type of place where college kids (like myself) hang out, and I kind of hope it doesn't turn into that kind of place. Sue is amazing and so are the regulars that go there. Drinks are soooo reasonably priced and I really enjoyed getting to know everyone. We will definitely be going back often to support Sue and Randy's place!

Another excellent business in the area! I'm a big fan of dive bars and this one is not only convenient, but cozy and budget friendly.

Sue is a DOLL! She always remembers my roomies and I. As I've mentioned before we live on the same block, so we come often; especially when pregaming!

To be perfectly honest, we've been neighbors for 6 years and we never had any desire to go in until we saw some construction going on. We peeked in a few times, but it seemed a little scarier back then. The more they worked on it, the more anxious we got to see what it would look like!

When it finally re-opened it soon became the roomie hang out spot. A place we could go to claim that we're "going out", but without injuring our wallets too badly or straying far from home.

The juke has got some good old tunes; things you can bop your head to and probably sang at karaoke once, with a few more modern albums hiding in there (I recall singing along to R. Kelly's "Ignition" one fuzzy night there). It's a very chill place and isn't too overwhelming like many San Francisco bars can be.

The beer is cheap, the pool is cheap, and, not gonna lie the little naughty picture game machine is pretty addicting! Sue is always there refilling the bar snacks and turns up the Juke when you play "Runaround Sue" ( I LOVE this!)!

I have frequented this place quite often since Sue had opened back up and it is so much better than the old Randy;s.

I am glad to be a local at this bar cause " Everybody knows your name"

Man, this place is beautiful after the renovation. I hope it stays like this and isn't ruined by drunk assholes! The drinks are very reasonably priced, and quite stiff. I heard this was a "tough" bar, but so far, all I've seen are nice local people. So glad I found a nice bar in my neighborhood. Sue's really nice and I hope she gets a lot of business from the City College crowd.

Pool costs 75 cents. All the equipment and the table are new. It's glorious.

The jukebox is full of oldies, soul, funk, etc. and you get 3 songs for a dollar.

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to visit all the major dive bars of 94112 , 94127 and 94110.  My visit to  Randy's Place (in 94112) is helping me with my goal!

This place has always been there! it's like the "Beep's Burgers (1 block away, also on Ocean Ave) of dive bars! It's been here forever! My parents used to drop in for a cocktail or 2 back in the day! And Sue was still the owner!

Randy's Place is currently undergoing a major renovation/add on...so there is scaffolding and signs of construction all around the place...and like other Yelpers have noted, boxes all over...not like, cases of Heiniken and Corona boxes...but like, file boxes!  Maybe Suze is workin' on her taxes?  Anyway, the whole reason for my visit was my car was getting new tires at the Wheelworks across the street!  They said it would be an hour, turned into 2.5 hours!  After dropping the car there, I was at La Parilla Grill for a spell, yummy burrittos, free Wi-Fi but that only killed an hour!  So roaming the neighborhood, saw the neon beer signs of Randy's and thought "What the hell?"  Walked in, about 6 other people in there, very friendly, had a couple of Manhattans, up...with yummy Maker's Mark, of course, and all was right with the world!   Sue has lots of stories and knows everyone and will talk your ear off about the renovation, her crazy neighbors who 'smell like cabbage" and on and on...

So if you like good, strong, well priced (read: cheap) drinks, and lets not forget, you're not freaked out by Dive bars with clutter,  definitely stop by and say hi!!  Very soon, there will be a laundromat in the same buidling with Randy's, so you can bring your dirties to the laundry, have some drinks while you wait...and get your car worked on! (Also on the K line and the 15 and 29 also roll thru here!!

No credit cards though = o (   But there is an ATM next door!

    DIVE ALERT!

This place looks like an oversized den that someone renovated into a bar just before a New Year's Party. But it has its charms as well. Chilled mugs await you in the fridge if you prefer a handle on your brew. The crowd is diverse, I attended what seemed like a M. Jackson memorial party which I dug. Randy's Place is OFF THE WALL!

P.S. Cheap drinks and cheap thrills.

Chill, small, local bar to hit up while taking a break before, between or after classes at CCSF, or before you relocate to another party spot. There's also a pool table in the back.

I needed a bar like this.

See, I'm from the Midwest, and "dive bar" has a completely different meaning here than it does back home.

This is a "dive bar" in the sense that I recall: home-y, friendly, not-jam-packed, and reasonably priced.

I went in on a Saturday night and was met by a cultural mix of maybe 4 other people. I went last night and there were some college kids playing pool and some older people watching some NBA on the two flat-screens.

It's a total sports bar, but totally friendly. The bartender isn't a snotty 20-something with an attitude, but always an older lady with manners.

It reminds me of home, and sometimes we need that in these hectic cities.

Oh, and it's a ten minute walk from the Balboa Park BART station, so completely accessible to the city dweebs with no cars....especially dweebs who need to get out of the hectic inner-city for a calm drink.

    I like.

A 2-star watering trough with a 5-star-friendly crew of locals. The mix of black, white, and Asian drinkers here ranks among the most outgoing strangers I've encountered in town. Killed a few $2 bottles of MGD, watched the Giants knock it around for a few innings, and shared some laughs over the strains of vintage soul and funk. No big whoop. Small place, big heart.

I finally made it to Randy's last Friday.  It is the swankiest place on my side of the city.  Fireplace, fountains, attractive waitstaff.  What more could you want?  The perfect place for any occasion.  If you're on your way to the Marina why not stop off at Randy's first.  May need to call ahead on the weekends.

I kid.  What a dump.  The old lady behind the bar had a bunch of  boxes full of random shit laying around everywhere.  The nicest thing in there was the TV.  I'll probably be back sometime because I'm an alcoholic, and for no other reason.  What a dump.

This is my friends' local watering hole and I love it for what it is: a damn shithole.  Cheap drinks, friendly locals and a welcoming atmosphere.  You won't find Mission hipsters here.

Randy's place is great if you don't mind a local dive bar feel.  The drinks are cheap, the people are local, and if you go enough it will feel like home.  If your way out in this area of SF and want a place to grab a drink, I highly recommend it.  I'm surprised more city college folks don't make it a hang-out.  The only down-side is that it can close pretty early, which is usually because not enough people take advantage of it being a nice place to hang-out.  Many times when I lived in this area, I would walk down and find that it was closed - always a bummer.

    Long live Elvis!!!
