I always have fun at Red Piano, especially if Christy is working the bar. When I worked in the First National Center and parked in the Santa Fe, I literally had to walk past it to get home, so it was a great place to stop for an afterwork aperitif.
Just as it was in the hotel's storied heyday during the first oil boom, in it's latest incarnation as one of the nicest hotels, and thus hotel bars in OKC, this is one of the best places to people-watch in OKC. It's always fun to try and spot stars in town for concerts, ball games or charity events.
It gets a little loud at times, but don't all bars? The last time I stayed at the hotel for a wedding, we pretty much closed down the bar, until I commanded the piano man, "Play me out to Tiny Dancer!!!" And he did, and I'll never forget it.
Probably my favorite hangout place/bar to go to any day of the week! Mo the bartender is very kind, and makes the best cocktails in OKC! I haven't tried many of the food items here besides the mac and cheese, turkey sandwich, and caesar salad which were all decent but nothing to really talk about. My favourite drink here is the Red Piano Cosmo, I don't think I could have a regular cosmo after trying their version of it. I also enjoy the Chocolatini, and wish I could have one every day for dessert, but of course I also don't want to get fat either so I stay refrain from drinking it often =D If you're staying at the Skirvin Hilton or in the downtown area give this place a try and make sure to ask for Mo to get the best service in town!
Review Source:I am pretty picky in the places I go eat. I have been there twice since I'm in Oklahoma City in 2 days. The Red Piano Bar is definitely a good place to go eat, chill with friends, watch a sports game or bring a date. I'm giving overall a 4/5 stars.
I'm giving a:
Atmosphere 5/5: Garnished of red colour, a piano is standing in the corner and automatically play some music.
Food 4/5: I love the hard Tacos. I tried also a Ceasar salad with a fresh grilled Atlantic Salmon on top.
Service 3.5-4/5: First time I was here, the service wasn't that great but I was most than satisfied the second time.
Definitely a place to check out before a Thunder game or for an after-game Drink.
as beautiful and classy as the bar looked, and as amazing as the Foreigner covers on the piano sounded, i was a little disappointed. Â after being at a local brewery all night with decently priced drinks, my husband and i came back to our hotel bar for a nightcap before heading up to our room. Â i was excited that our hotel had such a nice looking bar where we could relax and unwind before heading up, but getting there near closing time, the time they would be closing was announced over and over and i felt very rushed.
my husband asked if they had 'bulleit' to which the waitress said 'yes'. Â when my husband asked in they had rye or bourbon, she said 'we have BULLEIT, they only make one' in a condescending way, as though he was nuts. Â (sidenote- bulleit has a bourbon AND a rye whiskey). Â
i then decided to order a bailey's as my nightcap (good choice, right?) Â and when she came back with it, it was literally an inch of bailey's with ice and an $8 price tag. Â
our final order was some dessert, as my husband has a sweet tooth.  excited to hear that crème brûlée was on the menu, i ordered it as a surprise while he went to the lobby restroom.  after it was delivered, i was sad to find out that it was not the regular vanilla custardy crème brûlée that we all love, but an off version of peanut butter-chocolate crème brûlée.  i would think that the waitress would have notified me of it NOT being the classic version, which i was really looking forward to, but yet a variation, especially that it was one including peanuts.  luckily i have no peanut allergies, but it was not very tasty, even though she insisted it was a popular dessert choice. Â
if you must go to the red piano bar, go early in the evening, but if you want a nightcap, i suggest bringing up a six-pack to your hotel room.
This is a beautiful lobby bar in the downtown Skirvin Hilton. Â The drinks are delicious and they have a full bar with a large selection of specialty martinis. Â As long as you're paying for the expensive drinks, be sure to get some of the free cashew snacks (you'll probably have to ask for them). Â Be sure to check out the lobby and all the historical pictures of this hotel. Â If you're in downtown Oklahoma City and dressed nicely, stop by this place for a drink.
Review Source:Had a great time here as a post HS reunion location. Â They were very accommodating of our huge group and kept the food and drinks coming. They have a great house car service which is why members of our party chose to stay there that night and we chose to enjoy our time pre and post reunion there!
Review Source:Much like the rest of the Skirvin Hilton, this bar looks fabulous but is unfortunately staffed with sloppy and/or uninspired employees who are not at the level the interior designers were aspiring to. On a recent two night visit from a Sunday to a Tuesday we hit this hotel bar twice for nightcaps around 9:30PM. Both times the bar was lightly populated, but it looked like it had just been hit by a drunken fraternity brawl with rumpled pillows thrown in corners, crumbs and dirty napkins on every table, furniture askew and the drapes pulled at odd angles. The management here apparently has no concept of setting the stage and tending to the details in such a lovely facility. There were always at least two or three employees chatting at the end of the bar, so the messy look can't be attributed to understaffing.
The waitress we had both nights; a blonde gal, had very poor and unpolished serving skills and appeared to be completely disinterested in the service industry, even though it is her chosen profession. She should take her disinterested lazy act to the receptionists desk at an auto-body shop, where it would suit the surroundings better. The drinks both visits were fine, and we go for oldies like gin martinis or Rusty Nails that sometimes flummox bartenders not trained in the classics. But the brunette bartender was a rare flash of polish and charm amongst the Skirvin staff. Prices are average for the West Coast, but probably seem expensive to locals in that small Midwest city.
The red piano, by the way, looks very stylish sitting on the edge of the bar and the lobby. But it was silent and ignored for the entire 48 hour stay we had at the Skirvin Hilton. It was merely a forgotten prop in the unpolished Skirvin show.
Choose the lobby bar of the Skirvin Hilton only if you are like us and were stuck in Oklahoma City for two days. There is absolutely nothing to see or do after sundown within a few blocks of the Skirvin, unless you count the cheesy Bricktown area of vacant storefronts, boring chain restaurants and stinky college party-bars that is 5 blocks away. The Skirvin's bar is a gorgeous room in an elegantly restored old hotel. But it's staffed by listless and unpolished amateurs who apparently have no idea where they are working, or why.
The bar food is superior. Â Their Monte Cristo sandwich was perfect. Â The burgers and fries were also fantastic. Â Food prices were reasonable, so if you're on a budget BYOB. Â The 2 nights I've been there the piano player was into very light jazz and popular sing along medleys. Â Kind of like Shakey's Old Fashioned Pizza Parlor, if you remember when. Â I would be a regular if they transitioned the music genre to world-class jazz, as would many I know. Â It would better justify the costly alcohol by filling an open niche in this city, "upscale world-class piano bar". Â Making the hotel even more of a landmark.
Review Source:Drinks may be pricey by local standards, but probably on par with averages in bigger cities. Â Be warned, they're mixed strong (or were the night I was there to toss back 2 gin & tonics. Â Bartender was nice, waitress ignored us. Â Eh, walking up to the bar isn't so hard and the place was really busy with an after wedding crowd. Â Cozy. Â Nice seating.
