Rice Restaurant

This place appears to have gone out of business. There's a sign about some sort of steak house coming soon.

Too bad, it seems like it was one of the few decent restaurants in this barren wasteland of strip-mall, chain food.

Hopefully they just relocated, but don't look for them on Boston Rd

I no longer live in Western Massachusetts, but I feel that Rice is highly under-appreciated. I also feel that a great deal of this is because of its awkward location.

Rice is in a ignominious location of sorts: it's next to a muted dance studio, the sign is faded and is in need of updating, the building is old and the parking lot leaves for an awkward parking situation. However! The food is why I come here. As much as I may love the nearby Mandarin Wilbraham, Rice does Chinese food justice.

Their menu is large and varied. And, as pandering of a statement that is, I can say it's true.

Both vegetarians and omnivores alike love this place, as I've taken both sides of the spectrum with me, with myself being at the far left end of it. I usually get the Crispy Sesame Bean Curd, miso soup and some tea. Their miso is superb, served in wooden bowls which helps mellow out the flavor of the soup. Large portions? Sure, but not overly large as to poke fun at American waistlines.

Waitstaff there are very homey; sometimes having children seat you midday is nice. Everyone is courteous yet friendly, and willing to help you out with a recommendation.

All in all, I can't say enough about this place. Sure, it's on Boston Road. Sure, it's in a weird setting. But it sure is delicious, and that one statement overwhelms the rest.

This place has great sushi and great food in general.  Their service isn't too bad.  They deliver and do take out for everything.  They're pretty great!
