Casa De Nana

I've gone many times for both "taco Tuesday" and regular dining.  Food is always excellent.  The service isn't cookie cutter, but this isn't a rigid chain restaurant.  If you're looking for high maintenance dining, move on.

Preface: My review can address only the food.
My family and I order delivery (via Delivery Express) from Casa de Nana often, but have never actually been on-site, so I cannot speak to if the place looks like a palace or a nightmarish ruin.

I'm always on the lookout for good Mexican food that I can eat as a vegetarian. Casa de Nana, while not rife with options, does have some. Their veggie fajitas are credible and well-seasoned. The sopapilla are loved by all in my family (my daughter in particular, inhales them like air). The general consensus amongst my clan is that the food is good, but no one falls over backwards over themselves in praise. I find it credible.

I think they must be lacing them with some kind of addictive additive. They're ridiculously good. I normally don't like corn bread or muffins, and *I* love them.

I think the price point is a little steep for the quality, but not off-puttingly so.

Short form: Good, but not amazing food, save for a few exceptions which are amazing. I've yet to be disappointed, though not usually overwhelmed either.

Ok so I have mixed feelings about this place now. I love their food.  Their food was my first introduction to what I consider authentic Mexican food but I'm not expert, only other Mexican place I've tried was Taco Bell LOL but I digress.  Anyhow, their food is great but kinda pricey in my opinion.  My issue with them is not any of the above mentioned but rather the customer service.  I've been there several times in which I felt situations could've been handled better. For example, I took a friend of mine here once and she ordered something off the menu ( sorry don't remember what she ordered) but the order came with crab even though it doesn't list it in the ingredients in the menu.  When she brought this up to the waitress, the waitress had no apologies and didn't offer any alternative even though she explained that she was allergic to crab meat.  It wasn't until my friend had to make the suggestion to get the meal replaced with something else. The waitress gave the impression that she wanted my friend to simply accept the meal the way it was.  My most recent experience with them, being as recent as yesterday also let me with a bitter taste in my mouth.  I decided to place a take-out phone order and when I called, I asked who much an item cost.  The person taking my order asked me to hold as he checked on the pricing.  In the background, when he placed me on hold, I heard him say to himself, "Just place the fucking order!"  I don't know if he didn't realize I heard him or simply didn't care but I was completely shocked and also considered briefly hanging up the phone but I didn't, in complete shock I continued with the order.  When I arrived to the restaurant, the same person was taking another order over the phone and I heard him screaming, "Well what do you need??? What do you need?"  I paid for my order and promptly left, still in disbelief over the service.
