I have yet to find "my bar" in this area. I've tried quite a few and I've been disappointed by the service or shockingly high costs. In fairness to At the Post, their prices are about average for this area. That being said, I don't understand how bars stay in business at all if a single decent beer cost $5, but a six pack of same beer can be purchased at every 7-11 or grocery store for $8.
The staff seemed annoyed when I sat down. One gentleman did quickly take my drink order, but then quickly slunk away to mess with the TVs. I had to flag someone down to ask about food specials. The lady who took my order seemed annoyed that I had mistaken the giant sign on their front window for the current special, 1/2 price pizza. That special is only on Tuesdays. Worth returning to determine if their pizza is any good.
I ordered their special, sausage stuffed peppers. It's two smallish poblano peppers stuffed with a very dense, very mild sausage. I was told it "wasn't your Grampa's stuffed pepper," I guess I didn't know what that meant. It was served with a the bottom half a 6 inch loaf of "garlic" bread. The "garlic" bread was really just caked with garlic *salt.* It was way too salty.
Like other places in the area the bill was shockingly high for a single Guinness and an entree that would be called an appetizer elsewhere. $5 for the Guinness and $8.70 for the peppers. With tip this after-work quick stop was $17, for one person.
This place has cheap food and even cheaper drinks. In addition to cheap drinks, they even have daily specials as well! The menu has a decent item selection and the staff is attentive. Ringside doesn't get super crowded maybe because it's located in some little strip mall set away from everything else. It's easy to pass it by unless you were looking for it specifically. The place is basically one big room with a bar in the center so everyone can see you when you walk in. It feels like those old western movies where everyone stops when they're doing and stares at the person who walked into their saloon. People seem to dig karaoke night. Overall not a bad place but I honestly don't see myself going back there or recommending it to a friend. It's a dive and would be a a good place to go if there weren't any other places to go. There's just not enough going on to attract the younger type of crowd.
