I've gone to Romine's for mainly wrestling PPV's and pool for the past 15 years. It's usually a decent experience, I usually park up at the bar, order some Mexican food and a few beers and settle in for a great pay per view. The last time I went for a wrestling PPV, however, the experience was poor. Not only did it take a long time to get food and another beer when my bottle was empty, but I had to sit at the bar while the bartender spoke to another worker, saying how much he hates wrestling and the UFC crowd is such a better crowd. I've been there for both UFC and WWE, and there really isn't much of a difference. Nonetheless, he kept going on and on mocking what I was watching as  I had already tipped him for getting my food order and each one of the few beers already. Any other bar he would be lucky to be working on Sunday, let alone to have a packed bar. It was extremely rude and has me going to different places for UFC and WWE now.
Review Source:What a fun place to spend time! Tons of 8 & 9 foot tables, plus snooker and carom (a table with no pockets!). They have really good specials and if you're over 55, you can hang out here all day for $5.00! The tables and house cues are well maintained. There is a full service bar in the center and a decent Mexican restaurant to get a bite to eat. Many, many tv's including a huge projection screen for watching PPV fights. Not my thing, but others have commented on how great this is.
Review Source:A group of us recently went here to hang out & play some pool & Romine's is one of the few remaining premier pool halls in MIlwaukee. I have been there before but it had been quite a while since & it wasn't to play pool. You see Romine's in addition to there 50 some billiard size pool tables also has a Mexican restaurant (Señor Loco's), video games, a bar & a place where you can watch many such PPV's like WWE or UFC. During this visit my friends had already checked in & had a table they were playing on. We were playing for a while & decided to get something to drink the only problem was that there was no wait staff walking around to take your drink order. So, we had to go to the bar to place an order every time we needed something which was quite away from where we were not to mention it was a bit of an inconvenience. Also, later on we wanted some food so we had to go again to the bar to place an order. We had to wait quite a while before our food arrived in fact we saw a guy come down the steps with our food look around & then walk back up the steps away from us with what we thought was our food. A little while later the bartender came down & asked us if we got our food & we said no she couldn't understand why & then continued to explain that they were short handed due to someone calling in. We did end up finally getting our food though & it was good. Finally, we wanted to watch something on TV while we were playing & the closest TV was quite a distance from us & they were all the big box TV's which you know doesn't have the clearest of screens especially at long distances. Overall the venue, location & tables are great but the lack of service & TV's were instrumental in my rating & in our overall experience.
Review Source:Before our smoking ban i would have given Romines a 2 star. It was really unbearable in that place with the amount of smoke that was swirling around in the air sticking to all types of clothing the patrons had on.
Now that the smoking ban is in place and there is no smoking on the inside i appreciate the space much more. The food selection here is a little confusing. There is a full Mexican Restaurant housed inside of Romines and Romines also carrys their own food service? It even harder to tell because the waitstaff are all over the place.
The food is average. Please don't walk in expecting gourmet or exceptional waiter service. Nope not here.
I wont give a review about the pool hall (sorry) i don't frequent the pool table, but make no mistake i can crack a full set with the best of them.
I was here this time and every time to watch the UFC fight. There are multiple TVs in the place when the fight is on so there is not a problem with catching a good view. There are two huge projection screens in the middle of the establishment so this is a plus as well.
The parking lot is usually packed to capacity on nights when the UFC is showing fights so get here early and get you a spot.
One of the better point is that security is enforced at the door and they scan your id. The diversity factor is high. All walks of life can be seen in this bar. I appreciate that.
I will go again, again, and again... as long as UFC is on or i get my pool game up!
A friend of mine from the south side introduced me to Romine's and I have been going ever since.
I am a boxing fan and a UFC fan. Â I also like to play pool so Romine's is a great spot to catch a pay per view fight and hit a few games of pool. Â
They are a decent sized pool hall with the suburban/small town atmosphere of having a laid back, casual, dive barish but not quite - feel. Â
There is a bar up a few steps and in the middle of the floor, along with poker tables and a large screen for pay per view nights. Â The rest of the landscape is pool tables upon pool tables. Â
They also have a full service menu and I have had their cheese quesadillas, typical bar fare that is just right for the environment - greasy and good. Â
Welcome to the south side, I hope you stop by.
I believe this has to be Milwaukee's largest pool hall. A big open place to hang out, eat some bad bar food, and most of all play a lot of pool. It's large enough that you should almost never have to wait for a table. It doesn't really have a lot of character, unless you are into the very (un)stylish decor of the early 80's, but it's a fun place to go with a group of people for an unpretentious nice of pool and drinks.
