I give this place 5 stars. It's not the coolest hangout or the flashy Bellevue martini scene, but whether there are people here or not, this place kicks ass. I love the Chili Lime Prawns, the cook is top notch. Their drinks are generous at times, but always good regardless. It's kind of a hole in the wall to some, but a diamond in the rough for me. If you're just out for a drink and don't care how many people are there, this is the place. It's perfect!
Review Source:Room 38 has great drinks and decent service. The food is "OK". Â I love how their happy hour lasts until 7pm during the week when most places end happy hour at 5 or 6. I'm not sure if we just went on a bad night or what, but it was dead in here! When I read the other reviews I expected this place to be packed with good music and crappy service - so not the case!!! Â They were incredibly slow (only three other tables), the music was decent and the service was OK. We were not so impressed that we can't wait to go again, but at the same time we won't cross it off our list of places to go.
Review Source:My girlfriends and I went here for my going away dinner (on a Thursday night), and I was sorely disappointed. With a wait of at least half an hour between drinks, it was hard to keep the celebration going. They only had one waitress working, and although the place is pretty small, she was obviously stressed out. She acted very unprofessionally towards us, stating that if we weren't ready to order drinks yet she needed to know because she has "a million things to do". Quite rude. Every time  she came to our table to tell us our food/drinks weren't ready she would never apologize but just say that they were backed up, and if we asked for water while we waited she plainly stated that she "only had two hands". If the waitress is so stressed out that she is rude to the patrons, then I suggest hiring more help.
Other than the terrible service, our food arrived in stages, much to our dismay. Also, you know that feeling when it seems like everyone else is getting served but you? Well, since the place is so small, we didn't just think, we KNEW that was happening. People who had come in an hour after us were getting their drinks and food in such a timely fashion that they had dined and left before we were even served. I understand that bigger parties take more time, but really!?
For example, my friend ordered a salad, and I ordered the exact same salad but with chicken. She got hers first, and mine came about 45 minutes later... Also, another friend who ordered the artichoke dip didn't even get her order until we talked to the manager. He did admit that they had messed up and didn't charge her, which was decent, but we were all feeling like our meals should have been free at that point.
Almost four hours later we were finally able to leave and NEVER look back. Although the food and drinks were good, they're not worth suffering such horrible service.
We sat outside on front street on a beautiful warm sunny evening, so ambiance gets two thumbs up! Â Drinks were decent, with lots of choices and great prices, but food was just OK. Â Only a few items on the menu which didn't sound too appetizing.
We decided to split the calamari and then go grab dinner elsewhere (just down the street at Sunset Alehouse). Â Calamari was so-so, not the best i've had, and not the worst, just average.
All in all, had a nice time, and heck, nothing like bar hopping on a warm summer night! Â :)
Good lounge style bar with a great vibe. However, not a ton of space so it can get crowded. When there are lots of people it feels like they are in your lap. Also, can be quite loud making conversation difficult.
They have a full bar and make some great drinks. I would not select this place for dinner. Not the best food and not a ton of options.
I was really impressed with Room 38's happy hour. It goes until 7pm which is great for those of us that have to work until 5. What's was even more impressive, in my beer-loving opinion, was the $2.50 beer offerings for the HH special. Never before have I seen anything above a Corona being offered alongside the typical Miller/Bud choices - at Room 38 you can also choose from such tastier options as Guinness and Stella Artois! (bottles)
The burgers on focaccia bread looked amazing. I partook in the artichoke dip. It was not pureed as another yelper commented but I actually thought the dip was delicious with the chunks of artichoke hearts, never before actually tasted so much artichoke in similar dips.
The crowd was light, the décor unpretentious. 2 thumbs up.
LOVE this place! Wandered in on a whim with my then-bf, and am so glad I did! Their drinks and food were excellent, as was the atmosphere and the service. Try the shrimp stuffed mushrooms for sure - I'm not even a big fan of mushrooms but they were delish!
This place is probably the only reason I would ever be excited if for some strange reason I was forced to move to Issaquah. I keep meaning to go back but it's just so far away.... :(
As you can see from my tag line, I can appreciate a good martini. This place has a nice atmosphere with lots of drink options. We went on a slow afternoon but the bartender was nice and there were a few ladies up front trying to flirt their way to some free drinks with the servers :)
Haven't been back in the evening yet but I look forward to having a girls night out with friends here.
Love Room 38 especially when waiting for a table at JaK's. We like the artichoke & goat cheese appetizer and their nachos are pretty bomb. We've also had the coconut prawns, shrimp stuffed mushrooms, mini burgers, brushetta & the artichoke dip. Our newest discovery....Mama Lidia's late night delicious-ness. Friday & Saturday nights from 11:30 pm to 1:30 they serve the most amazing mexican food and CHEAP. WIN! Last Saturday night after a few pitchers at the H&H we crossed the street to have tacos, enchiladas, chips & guac, and tamales....so good I'm sure we will be back about every weekend from now on. 4 of us ate for about $15. Make sure to check it out - you won't be disappointed!
Review Source:A small little Martini Bar next to Jaks in Issaquah. Â I find myself here quite often, and is a great little place for a lovely cocktail. Â They are known for their many types and flavors of Martini's. Â Dark corners.
I do wish the seating was a bit more intimate, its not the most comfortable, but with a few more cocktails.... you may not notice!
I came here with a friend before seeing a show down the street at Village Theater. Â I thought the ambiance was great and the service was fast and friendly. Â However, I wasn't too impressed by the food or drinks.
We were in a hurry and ordered a handful of appetizers.  The coconut prawns were hot and tasty.  The chicken quesadilla was good, although a bit heavy on the cheese--it bordered on a gut bomb.  However, the artichoke dip was a bit of a disappointment.  It was less of a dip and more of a mixture of artichoke leaves and some unidentifiable sauce.  I think it would benefit from being puréed.  The amount of "dip" provided was rather meager too.
The drinks weren't bad, but they didn't impress me either. Â My manhattan came with a large ice floe on top--clearly the bartender had shaken it way too much. Â The house margaritas tasted like a standard mix, albeit a little weak.
All in all I had a nice time, but simply felt the quality wasn't up to my standards.
I LOVE Room 38. Â It's a great place to go and hang out with a few friends. Â The staff is friendly and the cocktails are delicious! Â The food is quite scrumptious as well. Â It's a small and cozy place to relax with some good pals at the end of a busy work day. Â One of my favorite places in Issaquah.
Review Source:Stopped in the first time a few weeks back and been back once since. Â Moved to Issaquah about 2 years ago and passed by this place countless times but never made it in. Â As mentioned, the drinks are strong... which is a plus in my book. Â The menu is somewhat limited but what I have had was good, the burger in particular was served on focaccia bread and had a unique sauce. Â The atmosphere is dark and lounge like but yet still warm. Â I think this is a great place for a pre/post drink while dining at Jak's (which is right next door) or if you feel like some apps and drinks.
Review Source:Good little cocktail bar in Old Town Issaquah. Â Good strong drinks. Â The house special Chocolate martini is not something I would drink (I don't like my cocktails sweeter than a Jack & Coke) but it's presentation when I've seen it is impressive. Â My fav, Bombay, slightly dirty up with extra olives is perfect here. Â Small list of taps and bottled beer.
They have food available but I've never eaten.
Remarkably similiar feel to Artisan Hotel in Vegas and Zig Zag in downtown Seattle. With a bit more work the decor could be perfect for late night trysts, quiet conversations in dark corners and atmosphere.
Most are trying to get out to Seattle for their drinking but Room 38 is a nice secret right in the middle of Iss-town.
If you are any kind of martini aficianado, you owe it to yourself to stop in at the Room 38. Â Candlelit tables and an intimate ambiance make this the perfect end to a perfect date, and it's location on Front Street makes it a great way to burn up some free time while waiting for that table at Jak's to open up. Â If you're possessed of a sweet tooth, may I recommend the Room 38 Chocolate Martini. Â Divine.
