The food is great - some higher quality items than you might expect from a pseudo-irish bar. And the service was friendly and efficient. The drink selection (in terms of beers, at least) is adequate. What turned our recent experience sour was the Monday night trivia host - cheating accusations and profanities over the mic ruined an otherwise pleasant evening. Perhaps avoid Monday nights and your experience will be better.

What a little hidden gem over in Dunwoody.  I wouldn't have even known this place existed.  It's located in a pretty nondescript strip mall near the intersection of Mt. Vernon and Abernathy.  But now that I know it's here, I'll definitely be back.

Came here one afternoon for post work drinks (kinda).  Some friends were already here when I arrived, so I strolled right in and sat down.  As it was about 4 in the afternoon, the place wasn't busy at all.  As soon as I sat down, our friendly waitress (1 of 2 - and I don't remember either of their names) took my drink order.  And thus began a long and winding evening of bourbon and deliciousness.

Drinks were delivered quickly and the bartender was not stingy with the Woodford.  Good stuff.  After a couple of drinks, I decided that food was necessary if I wanted to be able to drive myself home at some point.  I went with the bangers and mash.  Quite the good choice and it's definitely a dish that I would order again. The sausage was deliciously flavored and the mashed potatoes smothered in caramelized onions and yummy brown gravy hit the spot.

But the highlight of the evening was the brownie.  Oh jeez, the brownie.  First off, it was the size of a small country.  Larger than Tuvalu, but definitely smaller than Lichtenstein.  It was perfectly gooey in the middle and was accompanied by vanilla ice cream.  If every drunken Thursday evening (there aren't THAT many) could culminate with this brownie, my life would be significantly more enjoyable - and caloric.

So yeah.  Friendly and prompt service.  Yummy food.  And stiff drinks.  There's nothing not to love about this place.

Nice small sport bar - we uses to go there a lot.  But, I haven't heard anyone from my work went there recently.

College- for some people, it only takes them 4 years to get a degree.  I, on the other am a complete slack ass.  In 4 months, I will officially hit my "10 year plan" (anyone want to throw a party?).  So what in the hell does this have to do with anything?

Maybe the fact that this pub may or may not have been an influencing factor of my extended stay in college.  Located about a mile down the road from school, my first impression of this place was "a bar in a strip mall? Ehh".  And then I experienced it.

I realized it was a part of a chain (Dunwoody Restaurant Group), and that at the time, the menus were the same, but each bar had its own flair/theming to it.  Well this one is a pub.  And I loved it.  And the people.

I wanted to meet some friends here last week (reliving old memories with new friends!)- and I am so glad I did!  At first, I realized Ashley (our FIRST server), was one of the people that used to serve me! I love that when I see the same people at the same places years down the road.

The next thing I noticed, is that the menu had completely changed.  But you know, I would like to say for the better!  Def revamped.  One of my favs (believe it or not) was the Caesar salad.  You better believe I started off with it!  It was as good as I remembered, even with fried onion strings on top!

After pounding some brew and chew, I wanted more.  So I got the special of the day which was buffalo chx sandwich.  That was decent as well!  My friends then got some wings and lemme tell you what- I didn't have one- but those mommas looked to die for.  They were huge, smelled wonderful, and looked exceptionally well. I was told they were.

Then we decided to get a brownie for dessert.  Who gets a dessert at a bar?  We do.  And we were glad we did.  It was hands down one of the better brownie sundaes I have ever had!

So yes, I spent my afternoon and early evening here, just like the good ol days.  Now I can remember why.  This place will always hold a place in my heart and I hope it stays for good!  PS- I am fully aware there is a Tilted Kilt in the same parking lot, but I could care less- I would dine here anyday (I say that as they are both pubs).

What a fun hang out spot.  We were there long enough for shift change, 2 servers and multiple meals... okay, Tom managed to have multiple meals within an hour or two, but who is counting?

I wish I could remember both servers' names - I think they were Ashley and Amber (confusing since they were very close names).  However, they both did a great job taking care of us.  Especially since two of us sat there for awhile having only water and chatting - I bet they were thinking there would be no profit at our table at all.

Once the rest of our group arrived, the alcohol (and food) began to flow.  I went for Strongbow (BIG shocker) and lemon pepper wings (another shocker).  I'm always thrilled when a place stocks my cider of choice - and believe it or not some places don't even carry a single type of cider.  Usually, I have more than one, but I had a second gathering (damn).

Now on to the wings - non-gooey (yay), very lemony and deliciously peppery.  They were also HUGE.  An order of 20 to split with someone was too much to eat, surprisingly.  But they were piping hot and so yummy, I was quite the happy camper.  All the other food brought to the table looked and smelled wonderful (and it was a lot of food).

Our non-alcoholic drinks were also kept filled, so hydrating was also very easy to do.

So A+ for service and for the food.  Also, the place was not smokey.  Awesome.  I shall return.

This is a pretty cool bar in general.  It's not huge but it's cozy with indoor and outdoor seating, private booths, friendly service, strong drinks.

But it doesn't stop there! Oh no no no it doesn't..

Their lemon pepper wings are exactly the way I like 'em; they're big, juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, flavor is a gritty rub instead of an oily, greasy mess.

    ....AND......

OMFG BROWNIE SUNDAE. A large hot, perfectly gooey brownie (really 4x the size of a brownie I'd cut for myself if I were being modest) vanilla ice cream, maybe some caramel or something drizzled on top... This is so good you have to remember NOT to go "oooohhhhhhgggggguuughhhhhhh soooooo ggguuuuuuggghhhhd" because didn't your mother ever tell you not to talk with your mouth full?!?  You'll choke, like I started to do!

Besides that stuff, they've got some pretty excellent smelling other dishes.  I didn't taste them, like the salad with grilled chicken and fried onions on top, the bangers and mash, the buffalo chicken special... but I heard from the friends at my table that they were delish, and the smelled just lovely.

Great bar, great food, great service, strong drinks... You'll want for nothing more!

Kudos for taking it up a notch... Since working on the smoke and moving them outside, I've been able to enjoy the food, that is very good, sip on a pint and hang out in my neighborhood at the small but quaint pub.  Will be back for more fun soon.!

The Royal Oak Pub has really kicked it up a notch or two since my last lunch visit 2 years ago. My "tortizlla" was a delicious "pizza" on a tortilla crust! My dining partner enjoyed his brat , served with a beautiful whole grain mustard. My diet is plant based and although my choices were limited, it was a yummy lunch served on their lovely sunny patio!

Stopped in here for a beer after a movie and  was pleasantly surprised at the cozy atmosphere.  Liked that it was a small space with dark woods and tin tiled ceiling but didn't like that they allowed smoking, oh well.

It was fairly quiet on the Friday night that we stopped in.  We sat at the bar and were greeted promptly.  We just had a few beers and enjoyed conversation before heading our separate ways after the movie so can't comment on the food.  However, they have a promotion for a free appetizer if you spend X amount  of dollars (I think it was $10) and show your movie ticket stub.

Not living near here, the Royal Oak is not a place I would seek out, but if I happen to catch a movie at this location again, I'll most likely stop in.

Had dinner here last night and really enjoyed it. I'm always on the looks-out for good fish and chips and the fish part didn't disappoint. The chips could have been crispier but were still enjoyable. The Blue Moon beer I slurped down with the chips was awesome (new fave).

Definitely a repeat as we enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. If I had to look for a complaint it was the cigarette smoke wafting in from the sidewalk patio area.

Small Irish style pub with a limited selection of beers located in a giant complex of strip malls, restaurants and all sorts of other random things.

I ordered the turkey burger which sounded really good on the menu, but was too salty for me to enjoy. The fries were average and the prices were decent.

I was here for such a short time I barely even remember it.  We popped in to have a drink before going to a movie next door which makes this place hella convenient for that type of thing.  It's small.  Really small.  But, that adds to the nice dive bar feel.  A clean dive bar (is that an oxymoron).  Either way, the service was okay and the drinks were cold.  I'm sure if I ever go to another movie at the theater next door to this place then I'll be back.

We came to Royal Oak Pub because they had Monday Night Team Trivia and the timing (8:30pm) worked perfectly for us.

It is located right off 400 (left and then left on Mt. Vernon), but is kind of hidden away in this huge/random shopping center.  I have never seen such a weird mix of business' (hello fitness center, movie theater, yogurt shop, office max, and pub?!), and it was kind of hard to find Royal Oak pub.  You literally turn into the first shopping center on the right side, and then drive around to the back....it's next to the movie theater.

Anyway, plenty of tables opened, and about 6 teams playing trivia.  The service was okay, but the waitress was a little awkward and lacking.  The food left a little to be desired (but maybe I shouldn't be ordering fish tacos from a pub?), but all in all it was fine.  My fiance really enjoyed it and the trivia host was fun as well.

There is a small outdoor seating area, which would be nice on a nice day.  There aren't a lot of tables, so I wouldn't recommend this place for groups larger than 4 people.  I am sure we will be back :-)

If you're in the mood for fish and chips - this is your place.

I have to admit, I don't love this place.  It is located in the same shopping center as the movie theater near Perimeter Mall.   I will give credit where credit is due.

I went there this past Friday with a coworker for lunch.  He told me about the fish and chips so we decided to go check it out.  I was pleasantly surprised.  The fish was light and flaky and fried to golden perfection.  Served with homemade tartar sauce - d-e-licious. Fries were good, traditional english pub style.

The place is small, and kinda dingy.  Waitstaff is friendly but mildly forgetful.  Remember, its a bar.  If you go expecting gourmet you will be disappointed.  Not an every week kinda place, but for that once in a blue moon where you want to get fish and chips, give it a whirl.

Met up with a friend here this past Monday evening after work to catch up on things...  Food is great, but it can be a bit rowdy in there on Monday nights with the trivia and sports nuts in the mix...  Overall a nice place and nearby, if you like big salty soft pretzels with cheese dip, this is the place to go...

This is my go to place when down in the Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area.  It's low key and casual, which is great for an easy night out.  No dressing up, no one to impress.  Just a good solid place to hang out with friends and grab a beer.  The food is pretty good too.  So far I have only had things off the appetizer section, but so far everything is great.  Darts offer entertainment, although if they are busy or someone happens to be sitting in that corner you do run the risk of impaling someone.

I've been coming here for a while and really like the place. It's not overwhelmingly loud, has good food, and the prices are reasonable. Trivia on Monday nights is really fun.

There are plenty of hooks for coats and purses, several deep comfy booths, and some tables.  The place is small, so while it's fun for groups, it can't handle too big of a group unless you get there early and grab a couple of tables.  The service is great, and they will try to help arrange for your group.

While waiting for a massage next door, I popped in for a Blue Moon. The staff was very friendly and on a Friday at 3:30, the place was busy.

The mix and match on the apps for $23.95 is a good deal. I went back the next day before a movie, Pretzel with cheese, Chicken Strips (and fries) served in a terra cotta pot, and cheese sticks.

Other then the smoking allowed here (and everywhere in ATL), great place.

The Royal Oak appears to be, along with The Crown and Anchor,  one of the best of the Dunwoody Restaurant Group locations.  The Royal Oak has the DRG's consistently good english pub-grub menu, friendly staff & a decent mix of people.  A key point to this  place is  the lack of the grimy 'crust-and-scales' one gets when walking some of the  other DRG locations.  Walking into Dunwoody Tavern, or the Ship & Anchor  it feels like the air is heavy with some kind of scum & layered with grime.  The Royal Oak is clean & inviting w/ decent food to match. Plus the alcohol is priced competitively with other bars in the region should a visit to the Oak involve drinking. Now the weather is turning nicer I cannot wait to go back to try their patio!

I live right behind the Royal Oak Pub so I often stop here to grab a drink and a bite to eat on my way home. The interior is nice and cozy and makes for great neighborhood pub. The food is amazing. I must say they have the best Spinach & Artichoke Dip around. I haven't found another place that compares. The Turkey Burger is also delicious. If you are in the area, I would definitely stop by for a drink.
