The waiter Ashley is freakin horrible, so we only gave her a $8 tip should've been $9 but because of her service we didn't feel bad about it. Then as we were standing outside she stuck her head out the door and sarcastically yelled thank you and we were all confused by it then she came back and flipped us off through the door and that was the final straw for us, Went inside and complained and got a total refund! Ill never go back to Rudy's again after this experience. THANKS ASHLEY FOR THE FREE MEAL!!!!!
Review Source:POOR service, EXCEPTIONALLY rude waitress. We tried to put our food order in with our drink order and she would NOT take it. Finally came back with water and just walked away from our table. Didn't take our drink or food order. After almost 20 minutes we walked out. if she can't handle 5 tables, get the girl some help.
Review Source:This afternoon was one of the worst services I have ever had food was good. Some reason there was a pesky fly or bug that keep flying around. The waitress had an attitude an this is not the first time I have seen this with her. We arrived at 11:40 and did take too long to get our food. We all had ice tea and for hour we were there saw the waitress twice. Very disappointed with the service.
Review Source:Love the fish tacos here. Franco, one of the bartenders here, makes kickass drinks and has an arsenal of great recommendations. He made my friends and I some apple pie shots, and while I'm usually not a fan of sweet drinks, these were quite phenomenal. Adore the lowkey atmosphere of this joint, the food and the dranksss.
Review Source:OMG this place is really bad if not for the cute girls that works here this place lacks everything else. Â Food is like microwaved several times horribly dry and tasteless. Â We came here for b-day with 13 coworkers and everyone complained how bad the food was. Â Will never come back ever, plus their price is steep for microwaved food.
Review Source:Service was okay food was good.
I went to watch the football game and get in on their game special food and drink prices. At the end of the night when I got my check the prices were not as advertised. I asked for the manager and went over to him as he was putting up decorations. He told me was not supposed to be there and he would have to ask his bartender???
I paid left and will never go back!!!!!!!!
I usually come here for the happy hours which is pretty good. Â But I'm rating this based on the few times we came here for lunch.
- Service is REALLY slow and inconsistent
- Food was inedible, was offered half off. Â Why would we pay half off that couldn't be entirely eaten? Luckily the manager amended this.
- Drinks are strong
- Food is pricey and not worth it when it's not happy hour
- Menu doesn't match up with the site
I'm rounding up to 3 because the happy hours here really are awesome. Â Strong pours, amazing sliders, and friendly bar staff with familiar faces. Â
Booze = Woo!
Restaurant  = BOOO KILL IT WITH FIRE
Horrible service - menu on the internet is "wrong" and they have 2 menus on the floor and one of them is "wrong". I was told I was wrong after notifying the price on Web menu and menu in front of me?!? Waitress' have forgotten customer service snarl at you and I agree with all others this place has slipped horribly. I will boycott Rudy's after a horrible Sunday afternoon confrontation and have now switched from telling people how great the place was, to how rude service has become. If you are a FHR resident please spend your money elsewhere! Â I would tell you the waitresses name, but i asked the waitress her name and she told me it was none of my business! I have soooo many more reasons from 2 seperate occasions! Good luck Rudys!
Review Source:Went with a group of 20 (office party). Â Took 30 mins before we got our menus, only one waitress that brought drinks out one at a time. Â There were no condiments on the tables. Â Asked 3 times for sugar and never got it. Â Went to the bar and got it myself. Â It was awful service!!! Â Took over 2 1/2 hours for lunch. Â Did not see a sense of urgency from the management staff either.
Food was pretty good at a reasonable price.
I tried again in the late afternoon
Food is really good but the service sucks
There was only 3 tables occupied and I saw my food ready
I told the waitress and it seemed like I was bothering her
She went and did something else before she got my food
The owner said he was taking care of the problem but clearly he hasn't
I feel so bad because we need a place like this in Foothill Ranch to work
5 stars for the Burger and 1 star for the service
Holding off on my review. Dining experience isn't starting off great, but I am hopeful. Â It is the New Year after all.
Adding to my review: the service stunk, and the soda was flat. When I mentioned the soda issue, the server seemed fully aware, but only decided to do something about it then. The TV's are a great draw, and maybe they think you will be distracted by the shiny glowing boxes and not notice that you haven't gottten you food and it has been an hour since you ordered!
The manager gave us gift cards when we left (w/o eating), but I doubt we will be back.
Also, there is some additional service charge added to your bill for this business, since it is in Foothill Ranch. That and bad service will keep people away.
I just found this place a month ago and I can't believe I didn't stop in earlier. Â All the food is delicious and the seats are comfy. Â There are enormous TVs all over the place, so it is the perfect place to watch your favorite sporting event, but it is worth coming here for the food alone.
Try the Turkey Stack Sandwich. Â You can thank me later!
This place turned into the biggest shytehole ever!!!!!!!!
Rudys has turned into "rude service". Lady behind the bar on a Saturday night 1-7-11 was te absolute worst ever. I'm glad it's like this though cause it will soon be gone like shakeys or kuta grill. It is SH*T!
Rudys you suck. Worst drinks ever, worst service an it's turned into a dive bar like boscoes.
I was in Foothill Ranch for business and stumbled on this place. Now that I'm writing the review and see all the negative comments I'm really surprised as that was not the case for me today. Â
We had a party of 3 for lunch and were greeted, seated, and served quickly. Â I had one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time (buffalo chicken blue cheese). Â One person had a turkey burger which was really good, the other a regular burger which was just okay. Â The server was very attentive and drinks were refilled frequently.
There was barely a spot on the wall that didn't have a TV on it. Â I can't wait to go back and catch a game (even driving from Anaheim). Â
Perhaps the owners took the negative Yelp feedback and made some positive changes, because we were all happy with our lunch experience.
Can Yelp please create "negative" stars or at least a way to provide 0 stars? Cause this is one place that is in desperate need of it. Â I'm of the opinion that not a lot of places deserve that type of rating, but Rudy's is definitely on of them.
First of all, the service was amazingly slow. Â We received menus but waited about 10-12 minutes for our waitress to come by. Â We were told it was because of a large party that she couldn't take our orders. The food took another 20-25 minutes to come out.
Second, the food was horrible. I had the butternut squash ... which was basically thick cheese in a bowl with onion straws. I had the BLT with Avocado and I guess since our food took so long, the bread was hard as a rock and the fries were cold.
The concept of having TVs and girls in short skirts has been done in a multitude of restaurants... I've just never been to one where everything was so bad.
BTW, they charge a Foothill Ranch shopping center Fee and assess to all orders... pathetic.
Went here for a business lunch and all of us were extremely disappointed. Â
Terrible everything...where do I even begin.
Service - our waitress (a heavy set blonde girl) was rude and had an attitude. It took her forever to even take our order...then to get our order was even longer. Â Then to make it worse, my order was wrong. I just ate it because we didn't have time already.
Food - the butternut squash soup was like a velvetta cheese soup. Absolutely disgusting. I never had anything like it. Â My meat was overcooked. Â
The only thing that probably keeps this restaurant running are the young girls in catholic school outfits...most of the clientele in the restaurant were men of course. Â I was with 4 other guys who said they'll never come here again.
Horrible...
I went on a Tues in what should be prime time (5:45-6pm)
I would give this place zero stars if that was an option.
Well understaffed and the waitress was not very good at all. Most of the time all I heard from her were complaints about her job and it took close to 30 mins to get my beer and another 25 mins to get a single food appetizer brought to the table. She was rude to our 4 party table.
Kicker was she lumped us with a bigger crowd so our table of 4 was now subjected to an automatic 18% gratuity added onto the bill even though it was table of 4? Just horrible...
Then this am, I looked at my bank statements and it looks like I was charged not only once without the gratuity but then charged a second completely different transaction with the gratuity added in...so I got ripped in this whole process. How does that happen???
Food was mediocre at best...experience alone was a joke.
Stay or away or be very careful at best. There are so many better places out there...and with pictures sporting a bunch of great looking waitresses with smiles on their faces...think again.
Overall, I couldn't find anything spectacular about the food, atmosphere or service of Rudy's.
Not knowing anything about it, it was cool to discover that Rudy's was a sports bar. The decor is fitting, but gimmicky. There's 20+ large TV's around the perimeter of the main dining room, which is sort of overkill since I don't really go to restaurants to watch TV, but it definitely fit the overall feel of a sports bar.
Service was average, except for the wait. We waited about a half hour for a french dip and burger, which didn't seem fitting since we went during lunch on a Sunday.
In terms of the actual food, again, nothing spectacular.
The pulled pork sliders were unsatisfactory. The rolls they were served on were above average (tasted like those Hawaiin King's brand rolls?) but the meat and coleslaw were lacking. More "vinegar-ness" than any of the sweet/spicy/savory notes I was expecting from barbecue pulled park. Very one-dimensional.
The French dip was also underpowered. Average baguette, bland roast beef. The au jus was pretty disappointing too-- tasted watered down. Overall, an uninspired rendition of a sandwich that isn't difficult to make well.
The sandwich came with fries that I upgraded with the "Old Bay" seasoning. I'm a fan of that spice mix, so they fulfilled my expectations and added something nice on the side to munch on.
Also had some of the "Black and Bleu" burger. Pretty good. Probably the best thing we ordered. However, Islands (which is walking distance from Rudy's) makes a better bleu cheese burger, so if burgers are this place's strongest suit, they still fall short of the competition within the (very immediate) area.
We ordered the burger with a salad, but unfortunately they didn't carry italian dressing. We found that to be odd since a) it's pretty common to have that on stock in a restaurant and b) it's also not very difficult to make from scratch with ingredients that I'd expect them to have.
In either case, instead we had a thai cilantro dressing. It was pretty good, and I was glad our waitress made that recommendation.
In any case, I don't think I'll be going back. The burger (which was the best part of the meal) didn't stand out, and everything else wasn't good enough for how much it cost and for how long we waited.
I'm glad I checked Rudy's out, but I don't think I'll be going back since there's better food around for a better price delivered with better service.
This place is not your normal bar or brewery restaurant... something in between... It's interesting to see how this building has transformed, I always thought it was a little cursed the way no one can seem to keep this building in business... but I hope they prove the curse wrong.
They gutted out the nice fancy decor of the previous restaurant and kept a warehouse type look with fresh paint. Â There are tv's literally on every inch of the wall. Â The bar section is fairly small, and then tons of tables and booths. Â It's such a diverse space, I can see people bringing families here or a group of adults just hanging out.
The food is pretty good, I've had better artichoke dip (here's its too thick) but nonetheless not bad at all. Â Happy hour prices are good too. Â I didn't get to sample as many appetizers as I would have liked... but I'll definitley be coming back to sample some more!
This review is kinda late, I joined a couple of buddies here for the NCAA football National Championship( Oregon v. Auburn) game a couple of weeks ago. It fell on a Monday night and hey one of my buds companies was sponsoring a happy hour shindig there. Â
The place was very crowded, it is a sports bar after all...flat screen T.V.'s line the entire interior perimeter of the bar and food service area. It was a chilly night so the patio was closed. Â
In spite of being very crowded the service was pretty good considering there were a dozen or so people at our long table. Drinks came out quickly and the appetizers( all on happy hour pricing) came out pronto as well. They did a nice job of keeping everyone well tended to, in spite of the # of people. Â The table was filled with the following and all shared family style. For Barpub food it was all pretty darn tasty.
NACHOS GORDO- jack & cheddar cheese, jalapeno,
guacamole, black beans, olives, sour cream with grilled chicken. These were especially good....
CHIPOTLE CHICKEN SKEWERS spicy chipotle marinade, sweet grilledpineapple relish, BBQ ranch dip
CRISPY CALAMARI lightly battered and fried, ginger soy & Cocktail sauce
CAROLINA PORK SLIDERS house pulled pork, carolina vinegar
sweet chili slaw, onion strings
BABY KOBE BURGERS 3 mini kobe burgers, grilled onions, pickles,
classic american cheese and rudy's dressing
BABY CHICAGO DOGS Â 3 mini Vienne all-beef dogs, pickle,
sweet relish, diced onions and tomatoes, sport peppers, mustard & celery salt.
If you are looking for a good place in O.C. suburbia to catch a game and a decent happy hour with pretty good grub, then Rudy's is for you.
I still have a question mark floating above my head about this place. Not so sure if I'm a fan or not. It may have to take another visit to convince me if I really like this place. Here's the breakdown.....
First thought walking in: Why are the female employees here dressed in outfits like they bought them from Hot Topic? ((short, checkered skirts, low cut tops and knee socks)) They should be standing on the street corner instead. But, whatever. ::shrugs::
Second thought after looking at the walls: Why are there, like, 30 flat screen TVs on the wall and each are playing DIFFERENT sporting events or news?! Wow, ok. I'm going to get a headache. Mental note--don't try to watch the TVs while drunk. Got it. Ok, Michelle??
Third thought upon sitting down at table: Wow this table is HUGE and bulky and high off the ground. I'll have another problem with this table and getting up and down off the chair once I have a few drinks in me since I had trouble getting on the chair sober. Don't drink TOO much, got it! :)
Let's talk about their drinks now. The one thing I loved about this place is that they have $5.50 Apple Martinis!!! Usually these are closer to $8-10 at other locations....but for $5.50 I can justify having two. And, I must say, these Martini's are very strong!! Which makes me very buzzed. I spent a good 20 minutes talking to my friend ((very loudly, I may add)) about my sex life. She thought it was hilarious, but the people sitting next to us may have not if they weren't our age to start off with....I noticed they were laughing at me the same time my friend was. Thank you god.
Now. Food. It's overpriced to start off with. My friend and I shared a basket of fries (($4.95)) and we each ordered a plate of Pasta Roma ((it was our Eat, Pray, Love dinner since we were going to go see the movie after we ate)). Fries were just ok to me....they were a little greasy and soggy. My pasta was really good, but I could have easily made it at home for less than the $11.95 price tag and have it taste the same. The food was nothing special to me AT ALL. I could go to another restaurant for food that is much better and lower in price.
Service.....it was good. Our waitress, Annie, checked on us every 5-10 minutes and kept the water and alcohol flowing as needed and to see if we needed anything else. Awesome!!!
Overall this place is just ok. Nothing to special ((aside from the $5.50 Martini)). I may give this place one more try since it's one of the few places close to where I live that's open late on the weekends for us night owls. Until than, it only gets a 3 star rating in my book! :)
If you're looking for a place to stop in after work and have a few beers with friends, this is the spot. Â Would I spend an entire night here? No.
Happy hour until 7 M-F. Â $5 Kobe beef sliders during happy hour are the bomb dot com... I highly recommend them!
Lots of beers on tap, a large smoking patio you can bring your drink on, lots of room for large groups, lots of tv's for sport watching days, and the servers were fast and efficient when I was there.
A bit pricey and nothing really special about the setup of the place. Â Props for being super clean though.
Grease is the word and it's a crying shame. Â
Sadly enough, we were back a week later after seeing Sherlock Holmes (which was just amazing!) and I didn't quite feel like having the salad but to my surprise I noticed a pizza menu that I hadn't seen before and the Thai Chicken caught my eye.
The waitress, who served us last week, was there again and at our table that we got seated at yet again. Â Some things never change. She was slow to take drink orders and I had a dreaded feeling in my stomach which was confirmed when my pizza arrived dripping with grease, so much in fact that it burned my our waitress' arm, spilled onto the table, onto my jeans, and made a splash on the floor. Â I starred in horror at my plate and before I could get two words out, she had disappeared. Â There was no way I was putting that grease trap in my stomach. Â I could feel a heart attack just from the sight of it.
Eventually, my friend tracked down a bus boy and an agonizing 30 minutes later, after my friends had eaten their meals, she arrived and I pointed at my plate and told her I couldn't eat it. Â I ordered the BBQ salad instead. Â My salad arrived 15 minutes later with the bill. Â Great. I took one bite full and realized it was overwhelmed with dressing. Â Another bad meal choice and too late to send back so I ate what I could and left the rest alone.
Rudy's, I've seen the last of you.
Rudy's is a good place to go after a crappy day at work to turn your frown upside down with their sweet happy hour.
Shrimp Scampi is good, Mac n' cheese with chicken sausage is good and the Kobe burger is good. The waitresses walk around in short skirts and tight tops. This is good as well.
Overall, everything seemed really fresh when I went, including the salad, and I'm picky about my salads. The bar is like a huge rectangle and is smack in the center of the restaurant.
There is bar seating, seating inside the restaurant, seating in a half-outside half-inside section and patio seating.
I'll go back.
Went to get breakfast here today and they started enforcing a very strict window for which they will no longer serve breakfast. Â Big Fail.
After walking 25 minutes in the warm sun to get there, we ended up being a couple minutes past their apparent 11:30 cut-off we were unable to order from the breakfast menu (which is what we went there for). Â Do the eggs go bad at 11:30? Â Seems silly and rather rude. Â We left, hungry.
I have frequented this place a number of times since they have opened.
Don't think I will return again.
Rudy's rocks - come check it out ;)
You cannot go wrong with the happy hour $5 appetizer specials (chicken & steak skewers, spinach artichoke dip, kobe beef sliders & pulled pork sliders), $5.50 well martinis, $3 domestic draft, $3.50 import draft, $6 premium cocktails, $2 off all glasses of wine.
A memo to Becky C. and to everyone else - Rudy's DOES NOT charge for refills on soft drinks. That was obviously a server error, so if that happens again, just mention it to a manager and it will be taken care of with a smile.
I actually like this place. Â I read what Jerry L. wrote on 12/2/08. Â It made me laugh because I remember some of those places (like the not so good Kuta Grill). Â
I came here for lunch during a hectic work week just to see if there's anything to this place. Â In my surprise, I found something to this place and like it. Â
Since I came here for lunch, I ordered a gin and tonic. Â Made me feel great. Â When I read the menu, I saw their mac and cheese and it sounded crazy. Â In my head it was either going to make or break this restaurant for me. Â If they can make a crazy mac and cheese work, I said I'll rate them high: Radiator pasta with havarti and cheddar cheese sauce, chicken jalapeno sausage, fresh tomato, bread crumbs, onion and fresh mozzarella. Â I LOVED IT. Â I'd love it more if it was spicy.
This restaurant was trying to be a pub, but it didn't have the feel. Â It had a Bourgeoisie Sports Bar feel. Â I loved the food, but this bourgeoisie bar feel threw me off.
I was waffling between and three and four stars. Â I liked the food, the service was okay, but I wasn't feeling the atmosphere. Â I decided on a four because I ultimately decided this was a restaurant and to judge it as such.
