I tried out this new location with some friends and it was seriously awesome! We had some delicious food, ice cold beers, and tasty cocktails. They have a great happy hour and late night happy hour. The customer service was great (not to mention all very good looking) and we really enjoyed our time watching the games and having fun. My friends and I will definitely be back! Such a cool hangout!
Review Source:I had been to this place a few times at their old location. Tonight I went to the new place. Generally I like the layout, plenty of televisions to watch, decent size bar. I sat down, not a busy night, there were three people behind the bar. Not one said hello. I had to literally wave my hands in the air to get someone's attention. I should have just left. The service is terrible! I'm not going back.
Review Source:The new location is great and the indoor outdoor setup works well. Â Tvs our all in a good location and visible from almost any seat. Food is what it is typical sport bar food its good. Plenty of beers to choose from and hard liquor. Now the bad part bartender and waitress service still hasn't improved with the move. Ordered a beer from bartender 15 minutes later and watching the bartender take new orders never got served. When I Â asked where my beer was received a get it in a minute response. It seems that most of the employees are too busy entertaining there friends than taking care of customers u get the feeling that you are not the priority. Rudys management should address this if their serious about establishing a real neighborhood sports bar. I would have given it 4 stars if service was better!
Review Source:Yesterday finally hit up Rudy's in Lake Forest. They just recently moved down the block from their Foothill Ranch location. Seriously like less then a block. They are still putting the finishing touches on the restaurant but seem close. They have not gotten their liquor license yet but they said it is supposed to come on October 1st. Those are the only reasons I am not giving them 5 stars.
The food was really good and hot and served on time. The staff was also great. They immediately informed us of the Liquor License...which we know is not their fault. Now back to the food. Yvette and I had the BBQ and Onion Rings Burger and it was piled high and the bread was really fresh Hawaiian style bread. YUM. Fries were crispy and not over salted...the way I like them. My daughter had the mini hot dogs...well they were not really mini it was just a hot dog cut into 3 pieces. But the bun was fresh and she said the hot dog was delish. It came with Fresh Fruit where I ate half and it was very fresh and perfectly ripe.
I would definitely go back. Oh they said soon they are going to be adding live bands on Friday and Saturday nights...DATE NIGHT!!
The new location looks fantastic. I guess they're having issues getting their liquor license due to some bureaucratic slowness so the place is empty. We didn't care about drinking alcohol; we were there for the food. We both got burgers and they were absolutely fantastic!!!! Holy crap, my mouth is watering as I write this. Tons of different toppings make it endless with what you can do. The meat was cooked perfectly and it was high quality. The bread was fresh as hell and perfectly toasted. The fries were also great. Lastly, service was awesome. Friendly server and attentive host/owner.
Once this place gets it's liquor license it will dominate. Enjoy the emptiness now and check out the food!
My place of employ is in the same parking lot as this Rudy's, and there are some items on here that I'd like to address.
1. The food - It's as good if not better than the first location. The sandwiches are loaded, the bread is high quality, and the chips are improving (please keep serving 'em hot and fresh, guys)
2. The staff - They are just as friendly as in the previous spot. The primary difference is in the number of folks who are working at one time, a complaint aired previously. To which yelpers I would ask, "When you know business is low and your number one revenue generator and cost item (liquor) can't be served, how many people would YOU keep on staff?"
Labor is most often the largest line item on a restaurant P&L, and a smart owner will hedge his or her bets on this one. The idea is that a good manager can play the dual role of greeter and support staff for service members, as long as the restaurant stays slow. As business picks up, I can guarantee staffing will increase, however it may take some time to get a hostess because:
3. Read the name. Now , reread it. Yes, it is a "Pub" first, "Grill" second. In my experience, there aren't a whole lot of pubs or bars with a hostess or greeter. Learn to seat yourself, says I. It will be an empowering experience.
4. Lastly, the liquor license. Hoooboy, here's a regular crapshow. It never fails that when a liquor license gets held up, the unwashed, unlettered neophytes come grumbling forward to assail the lowly business owner for being such a fool as to move without that vital piece being cleared.
But, here's a thing: think maybe sometimes what a city bureaucracy tells you is going to happen and what it actually does might be in (to use bureaucrese) "significant variance?" Or, in a little burst of micro-nanny-ism, that said bureaucracy might decide that it can control the number of DUI's in an area by simply withholding a liquor license until the perceived villain simply dies on the vine? Or that some other permit or necessary piece of paper fluff winds up missing, and more regulatory "fees" will be necessary? I mean, when DOESN'T a bureaucracy do this stuff?
For all the bibulous bleating against an innocuous owner because locals can't acquire booze at a new bar, why not throw some stones at the people who hand the license out? This is an extant business that has actually moved further away from a busy intersection and proximal residences. The reduction in square footage (and therefore opportunities for people to "hide out" and drink to unsafe levels) is a boon to the business and the area.
Rudy's done nothing wrong on this one. Lake Forest has.
Place looks much like a bar and has a nice patio but I don't think it will last too long. Lots of TVs though for the sports fanatic. Â Walked in during lunch and there was only 3 other people in their during lunch. Bad sign. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of fries. Â Food came out cool, fries were bland, pulled pork was dried and buns were not really toasted. Overall, will not come back and only reason why I gave them an extra star was the waitress was friendly.
Review Source:I have been monitoring Rudys for a couple of months since they moved locations and to date they still dont have a liquor license and a incomplete menu. I walked in 4 employees at the front counter. It took them a couple of min to recongnize I was standing there. RUDE since I was the only customer walking in. 5:30pm no customers in the resturant. I was in there 2 weeks ago asking if the got their liquor license and they said next week for sure. Â 2 weeks later still no license. Â It is going to be a long time before I walk into this place again after the Rude Rudys service. You lost 6 people coming into your resturant again!
Review Source:The New place is awesome. I think i counted 48 TV'S inside not counting whats outside on the patio. The manager said there every 18inch apart. Going to be great for football. The food is still great and the services was even better. Watch out Lake Forest RUDYS PUB AND GRILL is the new best sports bar in town.
